meh. i had high hopes for this place. it was like 4pm and every other sushi bar around is closed so i check out this place. nice worker. i get the lemon roll & mango & salmon roll? first of all im a sushi expert. lemon roll- so they give a vinegar sauce which didnt really go with the roll. the spicy tuna was bright red and it looked dyed and not normal? the avocado on top was mildly brown and the tuna on top looked not like what was inside. generic for a fast food joint. 1/5 mango/salmon roll. i dont think there was actual mango in it. its basically a philly roll. the salmon was bright orange which didnt look the regular salmon. the "mango" and cucumber was hard. 1.5/5 they also didnt really gimme wasabi it was like watery in a same dish as the ginger. also off brand soy sauce. there was a few people comming in. all in all such a let down. read more

J sushi is definitely a place to go to if you're craving reasonably priced sushi with good quality. I think they use good quality for their food, and majority of the rules that I have tried having consistently. If you're ever around the area, and are craving a decent price roll, definitely check out sushi. I ordered takeout one day, and the two rolls that I ordered were done in less than five minutes. I've ordered sushi from J sushi for a while now and I usually stick to what I know, but today I tried the Cali Dyna, which is basically a California roll, smothered in baked scallops, and topped with eel sauce... holy crapolie... Enter J Sushi into the picture! They have got a bunch of rolls with all sorts of fish, some crunchy, some saucy, and best of all the prices are dirt cheap!!! Rainbow roll ($7) - This is the typical 8 piece rainbow roll with tuna, salmon, yellow tail, red snapper, shrimp, and avocado. While the fish used wasn't the best quality, it was a fantastic deal at half the price of other places! Baby Pacific Roll ($8) - This consisted of 8 pieces of a California roll with some cooked shrimp and sauces on top. It was a bit messy but tasted great! Double Crunch Roll ($4.69) - I went on a Thursday and this eight piece roll was under $5! Monday thru Thursday they always have one particular roll on special. This was basically a California roll, deep fried with a sweet and dark sauce served on top. It tasted great and I loved the mouth feel of the soft inside against the crispy outer layer. Overall I thought the prices here were great! Service was on point too. The portions are plentiful and you'll have a hard time finishing 2 rolls. While the fish here isn't up to the standards of fine sushi restaurants, it's tasty and reasonably priced, especially the weekday specially priced rolls. The food was great, and a very very good deal. Delicious budget sushi! Also, the servers were very friendly and kept checking in on us. There was no wait at all, but I guess it wasn't too surprising for a Monday lunch. The restaurant was very simply decorated and unassuming from outside. There was another review in January saying they do not take apple pay, but they definitely do now!! I paid with apple pay today with their QR code, super convenient. We got the bento box and also a salmon crunch roll. I love how you can almost build your own roll by choosing the fish, and then if you want it on a california roll, spicy tuna roll, or crunchy roll. Came in today to get a quick lunch. I looked at the building from the outside and thought this place would be low quality. How wrong I was. Never judge a sushi joint by its building haha. The sushi was bomb! I got the Dragon Roll and wife got the Salmon Roll. I was shocked at how good it was as well as how reasonable their prices are. $8.00 for my roll. I was like what! Such a great deal. I highly recommend coming here. You will not be disappointed. If I lived here in Orange I would be here at least once a week but I live in south OC so it's a drive but when I'm in the area again I will definitely be back! I ordered the Salmon on SpT Roll, Albacore on SpT Roll, and Spicy Salmon Hand Roll. The Hand Roll was great! I demolished it and realized I didn't take any photos of it! ‍ But that was about it... The Albacore and Salmon Rolls on the other hand was underwhelming. The fish to rice ratio seems off. I'm not sure why, but my rolls have hardly any Albacore or Salmon on top. Maybe if it had less rice it would feel like more fish... The Salmon also had a slight crunch. Nothing too extreme but it seemed fairly rougher than what you would expect. Which is weird because the Hand Roll I ordered the Salmon was perfectly fine. The taste is okay... Only because all I could taste was the Spicy Tuna and none of the fish... :( You'll have to view my photos to see how skinny the fish meat was. Every day has a different roll on Special. All of the rolls that we ordered were great. The Tornado Roll was our favorite. It had a lot of flavor and nothing like we had before. Great local sushi spot! Yelpers unite! I used Yelp to find this gem and boy was I glad my fellow Yelpers are right. The sushi is really great here, the staff is attentive and helpful. We came with a large group (10) and they took care of us without hesitation. The sushi rolls and bento boxes are priced well, and the portions are large. Ordered delivery in a pinch, and J Sushi did not disappoint. The entire delivery process was like 40 mins, even tho the app said they needed more time, and to expect it later. SCORE FOR US! Definitely will order here again if we are craving sushi again. I'm a fan of "heart attack" appetizers, which is basically just deep fried jalapeños with spicy tuna and cream. So I was stoked to see the Tornado Roll -- it's the heart attack, but in roll form (more rice/sushi than jalapeño). NICE! All the normal sauces that would come ON the sushi if we were to dine in came on the side to ensure the sushi did not arrive soggy. My fav roll was the Oh My Garlic roll. YUM YUM IN MAH TUM TUM. Went here for lunch with some co-workers a few days ago. Cute little spot across from the two hospitals in the area. We ordered to-go and called our orders in, but there was still some wait when we got there 15 minutes later. The portion sizes are huge here - they really do not skimp on food or garnishments. I had the Chicken Plate - which was fairly decent - there were a lot of white meat chicken rather than dark meat like other chicken teriyaki places - while this was healthier, it wasn't something I was as used to since I was looking forward to the fattier cuts. My colleagues each got the bento box - and the packaging to-go looked like it was enough food to feed a small family. Staff were friendly and accommodating - parking is a bit tight during the lunch hour, but we were able to find parking nearby and a short walk away. Cash and card accepted. I finally satisfied my sushi craving after a couple of weeks of just looking online at the menu wishing it was in front of me. Weird, I know. This location is my favorite when it comes to lunch dates with my man. We love their quick service and DELICIOUS food! My friend was craving sushi so we decided to meet up here for lunch. J Sushi may not have premium quality sushi, but their prices are incredibly reasonable. To exhibit the extent of their discount value, they have their sushi rolls indicated at a certain value and a strikethrough with a current value to 'appear to be' half off. I don't consider it a "sale" if that is the price year long. We shared Broiled Mussels ($5.25) and it came with 4 hot and juicy mussels. It was delicious but if you look at my picture these broiled mussels were missing chives and masago that is traditionally topping the mussels and as indicated on their menu. Nevertheless it was still delicious and pretty good value. My friend had the Sushi and Sashimi Combo Set ($14.99) which came with some sashimi, nigiri, miso soup and house salad. The house salad was mostly iceburgs so I was not too impressed, but I tried a bit and their dressing was really on point. The sushi quality was nothing above and beyond, but my friend's sushi cravings were satisfied. Since it was a cold afternoon, I had the Udon Noodles ($6.99) which had udon, fishcakes, a slice of tempura pumpkin and a tempura shrimp. The broth was really flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I really liked the tempura pumpkin and tempura shrimp. The portion was also really huge and I was able to save half for dinner. This is definitely a dish I would order again. J Sushi is a decent spot for lunch if you are confined to this radius for lunch time. I am spoiled by high end sushi so I wouldn't consider them top tier, but they are probably a decent selection for the mid tier sushi joints. Came here on a Saturday night (2/26/22) around 6:30pm and looks like it was a good time as I was able to write my name on the waitlist as the first up to be seated next. I soon noticed the dinner rush started coming in shortly after around 7pm. PROS: * Price: So affordable! I almost can't believe there exists a solid sushi restaurant in the OC that doesn't hurt my wallet at the end of the meal. Around $8-10 per roll (and they don't skimp out on any ingredients either!!) * Food wait time: FASTTT. I think all our rolls came out in no more than 5-10 mins each. * Food Quality: Exceptional! I lowkey thought I'd be sacrificing quality because prices were hard to believe but all our rolls were delicious and all ingredients tasted fresh too! Nothing was skimped out either as the ratio of rice to seafood seemed on point for us. * Parking: Easy - lots of parking in front as well as all around the parking lot. * Inside/Ambiance: Surprisingly small but comfortable and cozy. Definitely more on the casual side. * Service: Absolutely friendly! Shout out to BRIAN for being such a delight talking and helping my friends and I decide. This place can get busy during dinner and there isn't many seats inside where you can wait so you might be standing for a while. That's the reason I docked a star. Other than that, very pleased with the food here. Udon is delicious, comes with shrimp tempura + fishcakes inside. Cheesy gold dragon is a must-try. Warm, spicy, cheesy-goodness! Great sushi place! Whenever I am craving sushi rolls, I think of Jsushi! The place is located in a small shopping plaza with plenty of parking. There are plenty of tables for party's of four or five. Everytime I dine there it seems they always seem to have new items on their menu. I really love that all their rolls are half off or around $8 a roll which I think is a pretty good deal. They can customize any roll and we have ordered rolls without avocado for example and they don't seem to make a big deal about it. I really like all their spicy cooked rolls like the blazing roll. It's drizzled in siracha sauce and its nice and spicy. If you like spicy look for the spicy chili pictures next to the roll. They have a couple of rolls with three spicy pictures. They mostly have rolls on their menu but if you just want sushi they have a smaller sushi menu that you have to ask for. Their baked scallops roll is very good. I'm not one to ever write reviews, but I am just in total disbelief at the poor experience I had at J Sushi tonight. I placed a very simple order over the phone for pickup: a California roll and a Gold Dragon roll. What's advertised in the photos and what I actually received were completely different. The Gold Dragon roll was cold despite being a baked item. The salmon tasted old and the rice was still crunchy. The California roll had absolutely no fish! WHAATTT? California rolls are a staple of sushi joints and to completely forget the fish (the whole point of sushi!) is completely irresponsible. And the rice, even worse than in the GD roll. Was it sitting for an hour, a day? The world may never know. Needless to say I won't be coming here ever again and definitely don't recommend to anyone I actually like.
