Let me start by saying I love the food at Jack's and I will continue to come here but I'm leaving this 1 star review in hopes that it will catch the attention of the staff. Every time I come here, (EVERY TIME) I order a buffalo chicken sandwich TO-GO and each time they tell me it will take a little longer than the other items on the menu... thats fine, understandable.. and to go along with my sandwich, I order their urban fries to-go. Now.. what I don't understand is why the staff don't have enough common sense to make my fries last. As soon as my order is placed, they start working on the fries and they end up being ready, placed in the to-go bag, just sitting there getting cold until my sandwich is ready 15 minutes later. I've never complained.. but it comes to a point where you have to wonder if anybody has common sense. Urban fries have sauce and blue cheese that make your fries even colder. Jack's is always promising and consistent. Been here numerous of times over the years. Had many of their sandwiches, mash potatoes and mac and cheese. My favorite is their Jack's Urban fries. Recently I tried their salmon bowl which is $13: Fresh salmon fillet, warm black rice and quinoa, spinach, snap peas, pickled red onions and cucumber, yellow bell pepper, purple cabbage, with a ginger vinaigrette. This isn't my first time eating at Jack's, but it was my first time at this location. I thought this place opened at 11 am. Me and my cousins walked in around 11:15 am and the worker just looked at us and turned around. We grabbed the menu and when we came to a decision, that worker told us that they open at 11:30. She could of told us earlier. We just went outside and talked for a while. We went back in and the place was packed. The tables on the outside needs cleaning. I order the Jack's Classic: Grilled Tri-tip I believe. It was good, not bad. I don't really like the sweetness of it. I think one of the sauces makes it sweet. I also tried the Jack's Urban Fries for the first time. I must say I am a fan. I love the spiciness, how the fries are made, and the ranch too. This was the first time that I ever encountered dry, overcooked meat at any of their locations. Service was excellent though. They really piled on my salad and worked through the line in a flash. The food here is really good! I enjoy the range of dishes they have on the menu, and being able to build your own salad is definitely fun. I must say though, the food is pretty overpriced when considering the portions. Yes, the salads are huge, but no matter what plate you order, you will get skimped on the protein. You can even see in the picture, the portion (or lack there of) of salmon that came in my friend's Salmon Salad. I have tried the Steak Salad and the Chinese Chicken Salad, hoping that next time, I'd get more of a generous serving... But to my surprise, NOPE! What a disappointment it is to feel the need to ration the meat in order to enjoy the salad to the end. Because of feeling ripped off every time I order my salads, I have decided that Jack's will be a place I go to when I just want to have a quick bite of something from the Sides. The staff is friendly enough at this location. BUT, we like to order our meals to go and EVERY TIME, they forget the Urban Fries. We pay for the upgrade and unless we ask and have them open the container to show us, we get home and there's no chili oil or blue cheese. So frustrating! Tonight's order was the same. As I watched my food being made next to my server a young guy with a ball cap wiped his hair and tucked it under his hat, Then he stepped up to the prep area started pouring a sauce into a serving tub when he was finished he wiped the excess with his finger back into the tub. He was wearing the same nasty looking gloves the whole time as he put a customers food in a bag. As I made my way to the register the guy running the register was in a dirty looking cast with a torn glove trying to cover it while trying to hand people their orders. The employees at Jacks are great people working hard trying to make it . I'm sure no one pays attention to the lack of sanitation and what the employees when they wearing dirty cloths not changing gloves as needed. Today will be my last visit to Jacks in Elk Grove. This was the first time I had returned since last August 2020. The trip we made last year during the peak of the virus we observed the tables being cleaned by what looked like mop water from a tub full of floating left crud and gray water. The steak salad was excellent, just like it has always been at both Elk Grove and Gold River locations. My friend had the steak sandwich special, his was great also. The portions were generous in size and the food was fresh. Again great lunch! The service was fast too. The employees, all of them, did not seem to be a cohesive team, they were not smiling and finding appear to be happy they were working. The young woman working the register was unfriendly, not rude, she came across as though we were interrupting her. I really enjoy their turkey breast plate meal and their steak salad. They don't skimp out on meat, portions are massive! You do have to wait in a line for a bit at this establishment but that's because it's tasty, the customer service is on point, and they handle their restaurant safely during covid. Online ordering gives the customer the option to select ingredients to exclude. For example tortilla chips on Santa Fe chicken salad. Then you get home and the salad is covered by them. I exclude things that may be cross contaminated by wheat. This happened on Nov 30 and has happened before . A credit is worthless because I get home and then it's late to go back for a replacement. I throw the salad out. I've talked with a manger before but happens again and again . I have never had that happen at another Jack's uranium eats. It's a management issue. read more

Salads are made to order in front of you. Sandwiches are brought to your table. I met friends here for lunch at 1 p.m. The lunch time crowd was finishing up and we were able to get a table easily. There was a constant stream of patrons, at times the order line was long, but food came pretty quickly. I ordered the Reuben sandwich. But my big stink is that my husband is handicapped, and they do not have ample, or an area that could be dedicated to handicapped people.
