I love me some Jack's. Today I was being a good girl and ordered the build your own salad. I got dark meat turkey (because I just can't do white) and 6 other items along with the spring mix. The balsamic vinaigrette is classic but I like it nonetheless. You really get a good portion for the price and everything is fresh and not wilted or stale. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. Normally when I'm not being such a good eater I order the Banh Mi, it's not traditional but it's sooooo delicious. I like this location. The parking is much easier than the downtown location. The staff has always been friendly but not too overbearing. The food comes out quickly, but it might be a little long during a rush. I always get the urban fries no matter what. They're delicious. Went here recently and still love it. All the food is great but I tend to stick with perfection with my Urban fries with 3 oz. chopped up steak on top. So good. I usually get the buffalo chicken sandwich but today was feeling no love for bread so I waffled between the buffalo salad (but something about fruit being in there sounds so wrong) and the new taco salad. I went for the taco salad and upon first bite regretted it. The carne asada just wasn't very good and I focused more on eating the chips and cheese, which quickly turned soggy and weren't even that great. The leftover fries with the blue cheese at the next table looked pretty tempting though. I guess I'm basing my reviews off of my previous meals since I've never reviewed them...at least not that I recall. Overall I do like this place at least when it comes to spicy buffalo sandwiches; but the food is definitely heavy, even the salads. A bit bummed on this today. read more

Holy delicious idea! Why don't more restaurants have a similar dish (although no one could do it better than Jack's!). Their salads are great too and help me to feel less guilty about devouring a pile of cheesy fries. A great secret is to order their chicken strips with a side of the urban fries and ask for extra "urban sauce" on the side. I've eaten here twice. Exceptional food. They offer a great variety, and it's served cafeteria style. I had a fresh salad on one visit. It has been a very long time since I been to Jacks. I always order something with steak. It's so DELICIOUS here. This time we order the BBQ Tri Tip sandwich with fries. The fries are made to order, so its always nice and crispy. After I ate half the sandwich, I was full. So I took the other half home for dinner. The Tri Tip itself is very tender... But writing this review is making me hungry and now I want a salad from them. So how Jacks work is that when you enter the restaurant, you place your order and pay. They give you a number that you can place at the table and they bring your food to your table. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Let me just say, I've had Jack's before in midtown throughout the years, but for some reason, it never wow'ed me until this location. I had the "Build Your Own" salad, I chose romaine w/ the tri-tip, balsamic, broccoli, cucumbers, edamame, tofu, sunflower seeds, and tomatoes. I only ordered the half portion, but it was huge and I was starving, so I finished that plate clean. A negative was, the tri-tip was a bit dry and not as flavorful as I expected it to be. Next time, I'll go meatless. I went on a Sunday evening, so it wasn't crazy busy and I didn't felt rushed. Customer service couldn've been better, maybe a smile, but they weren't rude either. My family and I were down the street getting my daughters first hair cut and decided to get something to eat. My husband suggested this place since he'd been here before and I hadn't. I had a bbq pulled pork sandwich and garlic fries. The pulled pork sandwich was ok. It was falling apart the second I picked it up so I was just scooping meat off my plate. I never really liked eating salad and I was never really into Plutos before.. I came here with a groups of friends and a big appetite after swimming.. I don't really like the ordering style at plutos and at jacks.. so I just let my friend do the ordering since they came here before.. We had a main salad, BBQ tri-tip sandwich.. garlic fries and some macaroni.. I'm a fan of their Urban fries for sure! Their salads are a pretty good size and you can take out and add in what you want pretty much. The sandwiches are a little on the high priced side for what you get but they are good. One word of caution,be careful and take a look at your order if it's to go before you leave the restaurant. They tend to become a little skimpy on the to go orders ( in my experience at least) and that's not discovered until you get home. (can be skimpy on the chicken for salads)Dining in is a safe bet and you can eat outside if you don't mind the flies. I think I've eaten at all of the Jacks Urban Eats in the area and they're all consistently good. This place is a bit bigger than the other restaurants I've been to, but they don't have much of an outdoor patio area to sit in. I always have their BBQ Tri Tip Sandwich, half chicken ceasar salad and a small order of garlic fries. MMM MMM GOOD! I actually find myself craving their salads, they're portions are huge and tossed right in front of you to order. Their fries come out fresh and hot! Perfect amount of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with garlicy goodness all over the top. Their BBQ Tri Tip sandwiches are good too. I usually have them give me pieces of tri tip that are more on the well done, medium well done side...I don't like bloody tri tip. Next time I go here, I want to try some of their other salads, they look super good when i see them bringing them out to other people. Jack's was recommended to me before I even moved to Sac and was one of the first places I tried once settled. I loved the Urban Fries the yummy combination of blue cheese and the spicy oil were a prefect blend. I loved that everything was made fresh while you watched and, although I didn't order the turkey it was good to know that had I ordered it, it would've been cut right off the whole turkey that reminded me a thanksgiving. Sooo..my girlfriend RAVED about this place and after a long day of snowboarding, it sounded like a great idea. While the food was good...I could say I've had better (call me spoiled). Spicy Buffalo Salad- blue cheese goes with the spicy fried chicken strips...but the apples and walnuts didn't go together so well with it. So okay but not GREAT. Regular mashed potatoes- I've had better. Mashed potatoes with chives & sour cream- WAAAAY better than the regular. I guess sour cream makes everything tastes good. Overall, for the price you pay for this place, I guess you're "getting what you paid for". Whether your in a rush or just want to sit down and enjoy a nice lunch in the sun, this is the place to go! Their fries, mashed potatoes, cheese bread, mac & cheese and turkey club are mouthwatering. I used to live down the street from Jacks but moved back to the bay area. I normally love Jacks. We go to the one in Rancho and haven't had an issue. This location, however, was unsatisfactory for my to-go order. Ordered a steak salad with walnuts--it had NO steak or walnuts. (Not like it was just skimpy on steak or walnuts; it literally had none.) Croutons on the second salad were completely burnt. Two orders of Urban fries were both very dry and sauceless. $4 for a side of corn that consisted of 5 bites of subpar food is slightly ridiculous--although a company-wide issue rather than this location's particular issue. Since it was to-go, I couldn't correct any of the issues once I got hkme, and spent $50 on a sad, incomplete meal. read more

This place is like a Pluto's. Every time I eat here, I always order a side of urban fries! They're skinny cut fries topped with ranch or blue cheese sauce and some chili sauce or something. Might not sound good the way I described it, but trust me, you should definitely order it! In terms of the sandwiches/burgers... I think it's too overpriced for the portion. Ok so who doesn't love Jack's Urban Fries. They are the only reason that I put up with this place. They don't have a way to call in orders or fax in orders, the line is the slowest moving line, and I have gone to many a Jack's Urban Eats. The bacon is always over cooked, and the bread for the sammy's is usually chard to the point of burnt. When you are in the mood for a higher priced sammy and some carbs Jack's is the place to go. The food isn't delish, but is good. Skip the tri-tip (a little dry, a little bland) and go for the turkey, which I will admit is pretty good. The make your own salad thing is a big draw, but watch them make it, or you might end up with something close, but no cigar. I tend to bounce between the Midtown location on 20th and this one. I tried to come in for lunch at high Noon on a weekday and ended up trying to find something else because it was so busy (line out the door, no where to sit). I came back about 30 minutes later and still had a little bit of a wait, but grabbed a seat. Place was nearly empty by 1pm. My mainstay at all locations is the BBQ Tri-Tip Salad (I think it's labeled Western) and Urban Fries (the Garlic are primo, too). Unfortunately, I've noticed some discrepancies with the meat. Natomas tends to be less grizzled or chewy than midtown, but both have had near perfect meats depending on the time of day. I've also noticed that some days I get a little extra helping of... well... everything. Some extra drizzle on the BBQ sauce for meat or chilis for fries. Some extra salad or even extra fries from time to time. So the serving sizes can be somewhat inconsistent, but not enough to ever make me feel I didn't get my money's worth. There's no nutritional information available, but aside from dressings you can probably figure most of it out as they make it right in front of you. I'm quickly becoming a Jack's regular. Since moving here, I probably eat here 3-4 times a week. I just wish they were open a little later, as my wife and I usually aren't done with work in the evening until 8pm and they close up by 9pm through the week. read more
