The food is good. Location is good. But every time I go they are so rude. I'm always saying please and thank you and I can't even get a you're welcome when they take my food to my table. This place is awesome! Get the pesto veggie bagel cause its delicious & the veggie subs are always bomb. The ambiance is real chill, cute and small but not too small to the point of being cramped. Perfect place to go on a sunny California day the coffee is good from what I've tried and the food is to die for. The BBQ chicken hot sub is my recommendation. The only bad side to this place is that the seating is crazy. Too little tables and too many people just sitting there using up the free wifi while everyone else is waiting for a place to sit down and eat. I normally come here after a nice jog around Lake Merced. It's close by and parking is fairly easy. It's a great spot to enjoy a healthy lunch and some sun. They have great salads and sandwiches! My favorites being the Garden Salad and the San Patricio sandwich. There are many other items available here such as bagels, soups, pastries, and even wine and beer. Prices are reasonable for what you're getting. The salad portions are huge! I don't know why I haven't tried the coffee yet, but I soon will. read more

Someone said something about blatant over-charging. I agree.. I had their lattes in the house mugs few times and always felt like I can't believe I already finished my coffee.. kinda small mug for medium latte. ok, maybe I should just order to-go cup. those cups are pretty standard. well, today they made me MEDIUM latte in to-go cup.. and long and behold it's in freaking REGULAR 12oz paper cup.. WTF?! Medium is 16oz.. at Peets, Starbucks, everywhere else.. and so for your average 12oz of Java Beach you pay 3.75$ as for 16oz latte elsewhere. it's upsetting because it's so hidden.. Some will say so what? they have a great location.. they do.. but as far as ambiance - ALWAYS crowded, staff is hit and miss. I have been coming to Java beach for over three years now, and finally decided to write a review! I love the staff here almost as much as I enjoy the coffee, sandos, and brews! I Love sitting outside and taking in the sunshine with my dog and relaxing in my neighborhood. There are mobs of tourists that come through that can sometimes look overwhelming but dont let the line discourage you! They move through the customers really quickly, and they always make their regulars feel like celebrities! Most customers are great, and friendly to chat however..... be warned... there is one crazy lady with bright purple hair, lookin like she is forever on a 5 day binge with her two pitbulls in tows that acts like she runs the place. She always brings her dogs inside (they are NOT well behaved) and she is extremely obnoxious to everyone around her, screaming and yelling about what she ate for breakfast last week, or letting her dogs bark their merry hearts out - PUUHHLLEEASE!!! If you can avoid her, your day will be much better, I promise. i digress... back to the point.. My Java crew always make an effort to remember my drink and ask how I am doing that day, always with a smile on their faces, even when there is a giant line of clueless zoo touristas out the door. The managers Chelsea and Kaley are always quick to help, and are always keeping things upbeat and lively with the staff. It looks like all the staff members really get along and enjoy working with each other, even when it can get hectic and there are tons of sandwiches and lattes in the works. Evan is the sandwich king and makes the best dutch crunch sando with the works, Lucy is my latte lady love (and is super cute to boot!!), and Max is amazing too, gotta love that beard! All in all.... Terrible service! My boyfriend and I went the other week and over half the ticket was wrong. When we first ordered, we were shuffled between two cashiers. The woman who ended up taking our order was obviously not paying attention. We ordered a tuna melt, a tomato/pesto melt and two root beer floats. After 15 minutes, he finally got his sandwich... but my vegetarian sandwich was rather rung up as a roast beef. The woman who had taken our order just punched it all in wrong. My correct sandwich was then made. (Took another 15 minutes) Neither of us had our drinks. Apparently, you're supposed to ask for your root beer float at the time you order it, they don't automatically give it to you. On the ticket, she also rang up a large orange juice instead of the correct drink. When we asked to talk to the manager, the woman who had taken our orders wrong came over. Yeah.. the manager is that inept at inputting orders. The java beach north of here is much better. I'm not going to pay over $20 to have 3/4 of my ticket wrong and wait 30 minutes for room-temperature food again. read more

The girl who was rude to me still works there but I think she had a bad day last time I wrote a review. I moved to this neighborhood a month ago and have gone here for coffee for the last 4 Saturdays. They have NEVER gotten my order right. Not just the order, the size, number of shots-the works. I know nobody is perfect, but the staff is very combative when you point out their ineptitude. I also am repulsed by the man making your drinks in the tight ass, nut hugging jeans that expose 2/3 of his crack. The sandwich making woman spends all her time chatting w/her sister who I'm guessing is mooching free food, rather than preparing yours. On top of all that, they are always out of lids and act like you're asking them to donate a kidney if you ask for one. Everyone waiting for their drink is crammed in the front like cattle waiting to be slaughtered. This place SUCKS!!! read more

It was fun to ride our bikes along Great Highway free of cars and Java Beach just topped it off for our day. We chose outdoor seating to avoid the risk of having our bikes stolen. I ordered the San Patricio sandwich and the Kelly's Cove, both were $8.50. The San Patricio was a chicken sandwich with honey dijon spread, cheese,avocado, and spring mix greens on ciabatta bread. The Kelly's Cove was a turkey sandwich with pesto, cheese and spring mix. Both sandwiches come with a handful of potato chips. The water dispenser is located by the coffee and napkins. I frequent here whenever I've had a seriously long day and it's nice outside. Being at school from 9-5 takes a toll and the guys at Java Beach really know how to take the edge off when you need some time to unwind. Their coffee is great and you can enjoy it sitting on their outside tables looking at the great view they have to offer. Honestly, what more could you ask for on a beautiful day than some nice R&R. First of all, thank God for the WiFi here. For an area like Outer Sunset, especially if you don't live there, WiFi is rare, so thank you! Now to the food-- the roast beef looked more like ham. I come here when I can solely for the coffee. Their dark french roast is like crack! So addicting and strong....love it! If I'm famished in the morning, one my favorite is their ham or turkey croissant with cheese. Croissants are fresh and flaky after toasting and goes great with the french roast. Their oatmeal with banana is also delish as well. They also serve wine and beer here, which I'll sip on on a sunny Sunday afternoon as I sit with a good read or my laptop. read more
