After a red eye and arriving on an overcast day, all I really needed was coffee and a hot breakfast. I looked at convenient spots to stop along my route and found this place. It's located near the zoo with plenty of free street parking around. Also walkable from the zoo if need breakfast or a place to take a break. Ordering inside was a snap, the staff was quick with orders. They have a great selection of coffee, pastries, and hot sandwiches. I opted for the breakfast burrito which came out super hot and fresh. Prices were reasonable. They have outdoor seating, and indoor bar and table seating. With the quick nature of their menu, seats opened quickly even on a busy day.

I don't know about you, but if you spend a couple of hours at the zoo like I did, watching cuddly animals doing their thing, you may not be in the mood for eating meat at lunch afterward. It's not as if I had a conscience. I just had a "Circle of Life" moment when I got up to the order counter and decided to get the $15.95 Beetnik Salad, a healthy veggie compilation, along with a $6 Arnold Palmer (Photo 6). It was a blend of arugula and romaine lettuce mixed with roasted beets, Full apple slices, chopped dates, roasted almonds, and Parmesan cheese (Photo 7). I asked for their thick housemade green goddess dressing on the side but ended up tossing it in myself since it was pretty tasty. All around my solitary table were laptoppers who were in for the long run. The subs and wraps looked delish. Next time. FOOD - 4 stars...genuinely fresh salad you shouldn't drown with dressing AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars..pleasant enough but swarming with laptoppers SERVICE - 4 stars...attentive at the counter TOTAL - 4 stars...nice place for a post-zoo nosh RELATED - Exploring the Sunset? Whether you're going to the beach or zoo this spot is in the perfect place for a quick little pick me up. There's food, drinks, and everytime I pass by there's a good amount of people are sitting and enjoying their items or people waiting for their drinks to go. The ambiance gives cute little beach town cafe. I'm not gonna lie I had low expectations for my drinks but I was blown out of the water with the quality. Only thing that sucks is that they have small shop hours and close pretty early in the day. So if you get the chance to go I say take it!

I am so sad to say this, but Java Beach is no more... They changed all their food vendor to Sysco and now everything tastes like garbage, along cutting half the menu. I have LOVED their Tsunami sandwich for over a decade and now it tastes nothing like the old sandwich. The bread is thin and airy, the contents all feel cheap. I am going to finish my meal and bid goodbye. I wish them luck with this new direction while I morn the death of Java Beach.

Habit not to check reviews and only my personal experience A breakfast burrito, one cup of orange juice from gallon jug and a coffee all with no bag roughly 27.00 and some change Would never again for this price and quality. Eggs and bacon have been somewhat consistent in pricing tortillas the same as well don't believe there's any cheese in there if so never tasted can't really justify the amount of money for a burrito like that but limited selection near the water online photo of their menu, showing the burrito compared to what was received Drastically different Orange juice and coffee taste OK coffee was lukewarm

If you want to get a coffee before or after visiting the SF Zoo, this is the place. There is space to sit down inside or outside (WiFi included)The associates were really helpful and delightful. I ordered a large Mexican Vanilla bean latte, my first time trying it and it was a pleasant surprise. They sell ice cream too. Highly recommended this place.

Cute cafe by Ocean Beach. The veggie bagel was delicious. Good bagels and large selection of coffee, espresso drinks, teas, soda, and beer. Perfect stop after the beach!

Delicious sandwich and friendly staff. I took away a point because they forgot to make my sandwich.

Location is definitely what this place has going for it. It's right next to the zoo and just a few blocks from the beach. There's tons of seating (inside and out) and the beach theme is super cute. Bathroom is also clean, which is a plus especially so close to the beach. Food comes out pretty quickly. It's the type of place where you order at the counter and pick it up yourself. The food itself is very mediocre and super expensive for the portion. We ordered: -smoked salmon bagel (3/5 suuuper small portion for $15) -tsunami sandwich (4/5 good flavors but again for $17 way too small) -chocolate ganache cold brew (4/5) Probably wouldn't come again for the food, but nice vibes for a sunny day.

Good ratio of meat to veggie and there's options to add extra veggie/meat if you'd like at a cost. I will say the portion size runs slightly smaller but it was perfect for me! Meat was very tender #20 bbq pork with egg roll: huge portions, though a good amount of it was noodle, tender and flavorful meat. The highlight is definitely the fried egg roll! I'm usually not a fan of egg rolls because I don't love things that're super fried but somehow the egg rolls were perfectly fried without being too overwhelming, and the stuffing had some nice spice flavor. Paired well with meat and noodles! Coffee: I'm not much of a coffee drinker but I had a few sips of their Vietnamese coffee and it was yummy! Not too sweet, not too strong. Service: extremely efficient especially with everything made to order. Our banh mi was out in less than three minutes! #20 took a bit longer but that's because they make everything to order. Still less than 10 minutes for it to cook. Seems to be a small mom and pop shop. Person taking our order Joseph was super sweet! Offered for us to call and order next time to go and didn't rush for us to pay at all. Keep in mind it's cash preferred but they have Venmo and zelle too. No credit cards accepted here. Ambiance: more of a grab and go place. They did have one table and a few chairs and we sat down to eat but I'd recommend getting to go and going out for a picnic. Price: good price point! Our food was $28 total. Will absolutely be back!

Just a heads-up that they are cash-only, but they accept Venmo and Zelle. Indoor seating is very limited, but there's a small park just a block away with picnic tables. I ordered the combination pork, the BBQ pork banh mi, and a Vietnamese iced coffee. Both sandwiches were absolutely solid, but the grilled pork was standout for me! As for the coffee, I'd probably pass on it next time. It was a bit too watery for my taste (I want it to be more punchy!). Overall, a great little spot for a lunch run!

For the leg of lamb, I think most people get a whole leg of lamb. That was way too much for me and I think the butcher thought I was confused when I asked for less and asked me what I was doing with it. He ended up saying he could give me a half leg of lamb and I agreed. Thar was about 3 and a half pounds (bone included) which was the perfect amount. I seared it and then braised it and the meat fell off the bone. Delicious and the price was pretty good. I was cooking my first pork chop and decided to come here to get it. Their pork isn't labeled as Berkshire or Duroc or anything but that probably keeps the price down. For chops, they had boneless, bone in, and double cut (which was also bone in). I mentioned I wanted it to be about 2 inches thick and the butcher said to get the double cut.I got 2 beautiful thick pork chops for $6.99 a pound so about $18 total. The regular cut bone in pork chops were the same price though obviously smaller. I brined this overnight and reverse seared it and it was great. The chop was a loin chop- loin and then a tenderloin nugget- not a pure rib chop. Cooked really nicely and was tender which I think was partially the overnight brine and also their pork. They do sell some vegetables and grocery supplies if you want to just make a single stop. They also have a deli with some sandwiches that looked good and prepared foods. I was very focused on buying the things I came in for and getting on with my day both times but I would like to take a closer look in the future as it looked good. Solid butcher shop and clearly loved since it was busy both on a weekend and during the week. I'm sure I will be back.

San Francisco deli sandwiches is a dish which is served mostly cold with cold cuts. There is a place in West Portal which has been serving submarine sandwiches for decades in the city and it was serving toasted sandwiches since the year Quiznos was founded and it's called the Submarine Station. On a West Portal stroll I landed on Ulloa. Inside is a deli which is just a place to wait in line to order and wait for the sandwich . I enjoyed seeing San Francisco sports teams like San Francisco 49ers during their championship glory days displayed on walls along with great SF Giants memories. The walls reminded me of a sports and cards memorabilia store .In front of me on the higher part of the wall was a classic menu which has all good sandwiches.I got cheese steak sandwich which came out hot and it was tasty and not too salty like some I seen on my social media feed. It was cheesy with a good portion of meat. I also ordered the meatball submarine which saucy and cheesy and it was delicious. We got lucky and found parking right in front. If you're not as fortunate, there's paid parking across the street along with some additional street parking nearby. The shop itself is pretty small, mostly enough room for the ordering and pickup lines plus a little space while you wait. We visited around 11am on a Monday and it was already busy. The walls are covered with San Francisco sports memorabilia, which gives the place some character. There were at least five employees working behind the counter, all moving efficiently and cranking out multiple sandwiches at once. They clearly have their process dialed in. We ordered the S1 with avocado, salami, and cheddar instead of Swiss, loaded with all the toppings. The salami was thick cut and high quality. I was surprised when they put it in the oven, but it ended up being one of the best parts of the sandwich. Everything came together really well. We also ordered the S6 hot pastrami with extra meat and extra cheese. It was hot, melty, and packed with flavor. Easily the best hot pastrami sub I've had. From the food to the service, this was a five-star experience. We'll definitely be back.
