I started stopping at Java Supreme on my way to work... and after my office moved, I continued to go every day for years even though it was no longer "on my way" in anything more than a spiritual sense. you get dependant on your daily dose of Nutella on a whole wheat bagel. yes you do. Ed is a doll, and his coffee is reasonably priced. Nice, cozy little cafe run by a friendly couple. Although they don't take credit cards directly (cash is fine, of course, and there is an ATM in the coffeeshop), they use a service called LevelUp whereby you can pay by linking your credit card to a code that can be scanned from an iPhone app. It might seem inconvenient to have to sign up for the service when you're at the coffeeshop trying to pay for your order, but if you do sign up for it there and enter their promotion code when you do it, you get a $5 credit that you can use at any LevelUp participating business! You can use it all here, or use some here and save the rest for a different place. Lots of businesses in the Mission (and elsewhere in SF) use LevelUp. This was all explained to me by the owner, who was super patient as I signed up for it before paying for my sparkling water, bagel sandwich, and muffin. The bagel sandwich was less than $3 and super delicious!! The veggies were fresh and the bagel was one of the best I've ever had! The place has more of a laid-back, easygoing vibe -- nothing fancy or shiny here. The bathroom is super small and cramped, though clean, and the sink is outside the bathroom in the corner. Good, reliable coffee shop located across the street from my apartment. Internet access for a fee. My only beef is that you're also charged to use wireless there as well, so don't bother bringing a laptop to catch up on your e-mail. I love coming here for the hummus plate on a weekend afternoon. This place is situated right next to my go-to deli-style sandwich place around the corner. I'm never really up and around these parts early in the morning on a regular basis, but I was out buying breakfast ingredients and coffee was yelling my name. In I went, pjs on and glasses slipping down my face, struggling with the flimsy plastic bags they provide at the market. It WAS Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m., but I waited a considerable time for an americano, but that's to be expected. Perhaps, though, they should try the whole order-pay-waitforname process over the order, wait at the counter with money-in-hand until he's done fiddling with the espresso machine, and then pay process. I'm just sayin'...allow your clientele to go enjoy the atmosphere and just call their name when a drink is done. Especially when the line is over three people strong, all of who (more-than-likely) are going to order some sort of coffe concoction. That aside, I love this place. The art on the walls really caught my eye. The menu is of the colored-paint-on-chalkboard variety (seems to have invaded these places all over the city). The coffee is pretty dern good. There was no soymilk at the extras station, though I'm sure they would have provided had I asked (I just didn't want to bother the lone worker). I want to come here for a lunch or light dinner sometime. It's MORE than reasonably priced for the city - a sandwich and salad for $5.50 is almost UNHEARD of. The bagels looked pretty unique AND they have POTS of tea over that crappy $2 for a teabag in steamed water. There were also certainly regulars. I saw one of the "customers" bring the worker a bag of ice, and then slink around the corner only to order a coffee directly on the other side. Regulars make me like a place more. The latte is just like you get at Cafe Roma in Berkeley and all the other college towns. I like Java Supreme's strong drip coffee which took me through a long road trip. Nice and mellow, good music. It's tasty stuff and more than enough to satiate my caffeine needs for the morning. A bargain, I say. Love this place! The husband and wife team are super nice and their prices are very inexpensive. I bought a soy latte (so so taste and flavor), blueberry muffin, English breakfast tea and their California bagel here before and loved them all. I've been here to pretty much work on my telecommuting days and it's wonderful. It's not crowded and their internet is rarely choppy. Definitely a dependable internet connection here. I've been here only twice. First time was in the first few weeks after landing in SF. And now I remember why--I'd bought wireless access from ZRNet, which provides wireless service at various cafes around the city. The 2nd time was yesterday, after spending a couple hrs reading in the sun in Dolores Park. I like this spot--it's mellow, unlike, say, Ritual. When I stopped in, in the late afternoon, I was literally the only person in the shop. Ok, maybe a little too mellow. But if you're looking for a quiet spot to do some reading or writing, and don't need wireless, here is where to go. The cappucino I got was mediocre, but it was something to drink. If you're there in the late afternoon on a sunny day, the tables in the front get plenty of sun. I plan to head back to try the food. Why pay $9 for a lox bagel at Dolores Park Cafe when you can get one just as delicious for $5 down the block? Never crowded, free wifi and beautiful photographs on the wall. This is my neighborhood coffee place. I love that San Francisco is the kind of city where you can have a neighborhood coffee place. Many neighborhood coffee places are getting a little too slick though. I like mine chill, the tables a little beat up, chairs a little wobbly and the food and coffee good but not ecstatically so such that there would be the chance of an extreme line --- hello, Tartine. Also Ed is aware of his regulars and knows their orders. That rocks. My husband is a person who always orders the same thing and he knows this. He also knows that I mix it up every time on the bagel order. that is just who I am. I am a big fan of the have a heart bagel -- they are just artichokes from a bottle, but I love them along with cream cheese and olives. yum. i also love the hummus, pickles and tomatoes combo, and I can also be persauded by an avocado open face -- thin slices of avocado either side. yum. I also lilke coffee but sometimes get rocket fuel -- espresso and coffee with a shot. it's good, it's enough to get a good start on on a foggy morning. there are seats here to linger and there are always friendly dogs to contemplate as their owners grab a cup to go before heading to the park. good times. read more

This is a wonderful little wifi cafe with really friendly owners that give it a very relaxed vibe. Classical music playing softly. I wish I lived nearby and could study here from time to time. This is a nice mom and pop cafe. I only recently re-discovered it in my neighborhood when friends took me there. It had apparently changed ownership from when I had checked it out several years before. They have very good prices on their coffee, and they really put a generous amount of chocolate in their mochas! This is a perfect neighborhood spot for lunch. They do a great job with gluten-free food also. Owners are a lovely and friendly couple who work hard to meet any request that you have for your sandwich and make sure that it meets any dietary needs. The bread is perfectly toasted and the sandwich is always stuffed to maximum with delicious ingredients-- what ever you choose. It is one block from Dolores Park and easy to pick up food-to-go for outdoor dining. This place has the worst customer service!Unless you enjoy being treated like shit, you probably don't want to enter this coffee shop. Let me start by saying that I've never felt the need to write a bad yelp review before. Yes, there have been times when the food or service at a restaurant may have been poor but nothing compares to what I experienced at this place. As soon as I walked in, I sat down and took out a book. The place was almost empty so I figured it'd be nice to study while I enjoyed my coffee. Unfortunately, it never got that far. The owner immediately walked over to me and asked me if I was planning on ordering anything. I said I was but that I was going to take my things out of my bag first and then buy something. I found it strange that he was so pushy but thought maybe that was just his way of asking if he could get me something. Either way, he seemed to understand and just walked away. A couple minutes later I finally decided to order my cappuccino when he walked back over and told me that it's obvious I'm not planning on ordering anything so I need to leave. I was in shock, as were the other customers in the place. I asked them if this has happened before and they said yes, which only surprised me even more. I can't understand how a place with such rude owners is still in business. I will definitely never return. To those who do read this: Please do not continue supporting a place who's owner thinks he can treat customers like crap! To the owner: I understand this is your business, but please understand that if you don't treat your customers with respect, you're only hurting your business. And P.S. This little coffeeshop is across the street from my old apartment in the Mission, so it has a special place in my heart. The owner isn't exactly chatty, but he's a good guy and makes it a point to know his regulars' usual drink. It's pretty spare -- just simple wooden tables and chairs -- but there's almost always a seat or two open. Plus, yummy sandwiches, salads and a smattering of Middle Eastern fare. I ordered the Mediterranean Plate which honestly seemed like half of it came from a frozen food aisle and was just reheated. The falafel was especially disappointing--dry and not very flavorful. The plate seemed like a fairly expensive dish for somewhat inauthentic and not-so-tasty food. My husband ordered the Tuna Melt sandwich instead and he seemed to like it. I think if I returned, I would try one of their bagel sandwiches...I just wasn't in a bagel mood at the time. I also ordered a latte which was mostly just hot milk and barely any espresso. It was affordable but it was not something that I would order again for an actual pick-me-up. The staff were friendly but I just wasn't too impressed with our first visit.
