Ranging from teriyaki flavors to butter chicken, the options are all flavorful and for the price, they were very much reasonable. I love Vietnamese sandwiches and whenever I am in this area, Jenjon's is where I go! The staff is super friendly, nice, and quick! So far I have only had their banh mi, but the next time I may branch out a bit and try some of their other goodies. I usually order to go banh mis for my husband and I after we get a haircut since their sandwiches are tasty and fun to eat. We order the pork cake with pate (banh pate cha lua) and the grilled chicken banh mi. It is a little weird that they don't have these in Vietnamese, but maybe I am just being a little particular. So i actually really like this place. For a long while every friday or other friday after work, hubby and i would go to the plaza where they are at, but because his tastes are severly limited, he ALWAYS eats chinese at the near by Asia Express, and i would go to Jen Jon's and get a grilled chicken Banh Mi. I LOVED the banh mi, although, they could always stand to put a larger portion of meat for me...but they were consistent enough for what people have come to expect in banh mi sandwiches. But over the last several months i've switched to a KETO diet...meaning NO carbs, so no bread no noodles, no rice, etc. And much to my disappointment, this place does NOT offer alacart meat options...only rice/vermicelli plates as so many places do. One time though in effort to still give them my business, i did request pho with no noodles and extra veggies, but unfortunately, while they were totally willing to do it, cost wise, it really wasn't worth it..i ended up with a few slices of meat and lots of sprouts and cilantro etc...so with that, i have to say goodby to Jen Jon's as a regular place to eat, which makes me sad. The guy at the counter IS ALWAYS SO FRIENDLY AND SMILING AND HELPFUL. It was ALWAYS a pleasure to interact with him. Maybe some day they'll add ala carte meat options for reasonable price, and i can return, otherwise will have to be on a splurge day which will be few and far between... Had been wanting to check out this place for a while, as their menu always looked tasty. They have rotating specials each week that's displayed on their digital menu that are always unique and mouth watering. However, came here the other night to get a bowl of their beef combination pho and was pretty disappointed with the results. The pho was actually presented very nicely, much more so than at some other restaurants. However, the broth was pretty basic and there wasn't that much actual meat in the soup. With the meat strips that were present, they all had this bluish scaly sheen to it, which was very off putting. Tasted fine, but just looked like artificial lunch meat that you get from the store. We also got an order of the spring rolls to share, which were actually pretty good. They give you six pieces to split, which is more than at some other restaurants and the rolls tasted fresh. I was on the hunt for banh mi, and Yelp didn't disappoint with Jenjon's Cafe. LOCATION: Easy to find -- it's in the shopping center right next to Rite-Aid. Parking is fairly easy, too. FOOD: I ordered the Grilled Pork Deluxe, and my friend ordered the Grilled Pork banh mi. The bread and vegetables were fresh. I wish the daikon/carrot had been pickled a little longer, but I can't complain too much, they were delicious. DRINKS: I had the passionfruit smoothie, and my friend had the Mango smoothie. Boba was only $0.25 extra (cheaper than most places!). Each smoothie was blended really well and tasted great. The service here was fast and super friendly. The meat was heavily flavored in lemongrass. I tasted pickled carrot and daikon and lemongrass pork. 3/5* Not planning to go back but glad I tried it still. I used to order takeout for egg rolls and beef ball pho frequently, and the last few times I have ordered from here the quantity and quality of the food has changed. I love beef ball pho and I'm not picky at all when it comes to pho, but the flavor of the broth just wasn't there. The broth was kind of salty, and the amount of noodle to condiment ratio was super off. Shouldn't you have more noodles than condiments? I kid you not, the amount of noodles I was given was not even about the size of my fist and I had a bag full of condiments. She said they were out of a drink that I'd ordered, so I inquired about another one, and they were out of that so she insisted that I get the lychee milk tea.I agreed and then she ended up bringing our something else that was incorrect, so she had to bring back another drink, which she said was what I had asked about previously because she "went to the back to get it." OK...so you didn't run out? Anyway, she was pretty apologetic, so I gave an extra star for that. This place needs a lot of work on manpower and ingredients. Everything was just OK -- the best thing we had there were the spring rolls, which is the simplest thing to make. We ordered the combination banh mi, lemongrass chicken banh mi, spring rolls,a soda and a milk tea, all for under $20! I gave another star for the pricing. I really wanted to like this place because of the combination of favorite items I enjoy: banh mis and milk tea. I am hoping that maybe in time, they will work on their menu and space. It is tucked in a small corner of a shopping center across the street from Daiso. This spot is super small. I think it only holds a maximum amount of 10 ppl inside. But that's probably reaching. Might just be a place where you pick up your food and enjoy it outdoors. It's a cute little place though. Looks like it's inspired by a Pinterest board with its mason jar drink dispenser and labeled tin buckets. I do like that their full menu is spread out and it doesn't change every 10 seconds. I ordered 3 BBQ pork banh mi's for a very reasonable price of $4.25 each. Service was quick!! My orders probably only took 5 minutes to make. The BBQ pork banh mi actually fulfilled my craving! I've been going here for yeeeeeears (since my high school days)! This place has definitely gotten a remodel and I think the ownership may have changed? I remember always coming here when Tina was always there. She was so sweet! I always get the same thing which is the pineapple fried rice with salmon :) So so good. BUT I think the East Bay (specifically Fremont, Union City, Newark) needs more attention. Jenjon's is a hole in the wall spot in Union City that has an incredibly small dining center (maybe 8 people max). The woman working behind the counter was one of the nicest individuals I have encountered that works with food. I was expecting a sizeable portion of salmon and fried rice, but to my surprise it was one of the largest portions of food I have ever had. For the whole day this dish was my breakfast, lunch AND dinner. I absolutely loved how much salmon was included because most places try to skimp on salmon portions. The generous portion of salmon and pineapple fried rice was a bargain for the price!
