Being a long time dental chicken, I went to Dr. Guttman with a severe toothache. He and Debbie were kind, nonjudgmental, soothing and more than anything, they were patient in dealing with my dental/dentist anxieties. My treatment was near painless. I have since returned to Dr. Guttman to get the rest of my dental problems fixed. I would have never done this if it weren't for the kindness and great treatments provided by Dr. G and Debbie. I don't remember how I found Dr Guttman but I'm so happy and grateful that I did. I had been looking for a dentist that helps soothe anxiety, and while I live in Glendale and have a 45+ minute drive to see him, it's completely worth it. The staff is sweet and kind. Debbie was so easy going during my X-ray appointment, and explained what all of the images meant. I've never had a doctor take the time to do that for me, and it took a lot of the anxiety away. It had been around 5 years since I had been a dentist so I had a cavity that needed attention before it became a root canal, and they took care of it on a Saturday, and created a plan of action that had me unaware what was happening to me. Dr. Guttman along with his staff Debbie, Paula and Danuta are simply the best dental office I've ever visited! Dr. Guttman is extremely patient and tells you what is happening every step of the way. Debbie did my cleaning recently and she was amazing! Besides having excellent skills they have the best bedside manner. It was a record day for me seeing a dentist not waiting for years to go by because of my fear. Dr. Guttman knew how to deal with my fear and anxiety and I was calm. I actually went back to get another filling done. My son was shocked knowing I didn't like dentists and had a horrible fear of them and went back to Dr. Guttman after a great first experience. I have had terrible dental experiences all my life from regular tooth extractions as a child (I had difficulty losing my baby teeth), braces, eight fillings (done in one day, the day I realized I have a high tolerance for novocaine and felt everything) and wisdom teeth removal for which I had to be given general anesthesia. After such negative experiences, I waited almost a decade before deciding to see a dentist after some of my metal fillings began to chip (not a desirable effect, obviously). After searching yelp I contacted Dr. Guttman (who very promptly returned all of my phone calls/emails himself) with lots of questions and the status of my teeth. He was so friendly and understanding on the phone (and non-judgmental!) that I came in the next week for an evaluation and had my teeth cleaned and fillings fixed within two weeks of the initial evaluation. Dr. Guttman and his staff are very professional but are friendly and genuinely seem to care about every person who walks in their door in a way I've never experienced with any kind of medical professional. While I'm certainly scared of dental procedures (though admittedly could be a lot more anxiety ridden), I opted for the oral sedation via pill which I was promised would completely relax me to the point of not being able to remember the procedure at all. I'll admit I was completely skeptical of this at first, not sure it would live up to the promise and I would again have to suffer through the full pain of the procedure as I had when i got my fillings. My appointment was on a weekday morning and I arrived early for my appointment having taken the first dose just before leaving the house (you need someone to drive you there and home). The next thing i remember is waking up on my couch in the afternoon with the tiniest bit of soreness in my mouth. I honestly don't remember a thing and missed out on all the fun noises, smells and sounds of dental work (the stuff of horror films!) - I truly would recommend this for anyone who is putting off their dental work due to fear of pain/experience of the procedures. Dr. Guttman and staff are such a great team. They really made it such an easy, gentle process. I'm actually looking forward to my next cleaning! Never thought I'd say that. read more

Dr. Guttman's practice is absolutely wonderful. I went there after not seeing a dentist for quite some time and they fixed me right up at a very reasonable rate. Paula Deb and Dr. Jerome make you feel like part of the family....everyone is so nice and funny I literally laugh out loud chatting with them. I highly recommend going here for any dental needs. He has a nice low-key personality and a great sense of humor, and made me feel quite at ease. I have always been a person who has been afraid of the Dentist, even at an age over 50. I must say I just had the most unbelievable visit with Dr. Guttman and his entire staff. If I had to rate their level of professionalism, on the scale of 1-10 it would be a 10. This is my first time meeting Dr. Guttman, and he is a Dentist that really cares about his patients, I could tell that he is a very compassionate person and a professional from the very beginning, I had several procedures that needed to be done, and the timing of completion was critical due to a very important business trip that is scheduled for the East Coast.. I meet the Dr, along with Paula and Debbi, who were extremely supportive of my needs and worked with me on a short notice to get things started and completed. MY experience was so favorable that if I lived anywhere else in the country I would fly back for my service. This is service like the old days when businesses really cared about their patients. My last point is that Dr. Guttman communicates what he is doing as he is completing his procedures, and that made me feel very relaxed and eliminated the tense feeling i had before i got to his office. One extra thing is that because he has a gentle voice, it makes a difference. I would recommend Dr. Guttman and his entire staff as your future dentist. read more

Dr. Guttman has been my dentist for more than 15 years. Until about 2 years ago, his office was in Montebello, CA, 2 blocks from where I live. I was very disappointed when he moved to Playa del Rey, 30 miles away. I cannot even come near to expressing how much I respect Dr. Guttman. It took a long, long time to find a dentist in whom I could develop absolute faith and trust. He is the utmost in professionalism, and is meticulous about keeping up to date on the latest research, procedures and products, and explains, in detail, whatever procedure he uses. Making the visit as comfortable as a visit to the dentist can be. His staff is professional and pleasant. Without reservation, I recommend Dr. Guttman as your family dentist. He and his entire staff made me feel comfortable and safe. His staff is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Guttman takes the time to explain what is going on, doesn't pressure you, and works with you to make everything move at your pace. He is very gentle and patient. His sedation dentistry is literally a life saver. I was able to get some very needed work done and improve my overall health and appearance with no stress. So grateful for Dr Guttman and his excellent team! I went in with a tooth ache (thought it was just from extreme teeth grinding the night before). The Dr did everything he could to diagnose my problem. When he couldn't, he referred me to an endodontist. Because of his stellar reputation and relationship with them, they made the exception to see me the same day. One Saturday I experienced the worst tooth pain I had ever had. I called my regular dentist, there was nothing on his voice mail about what to do in an emergency. My husband suggested we call his dentist because he worked every other Saturday. We called, and it was the wrong Saturday, but there was a number to call for emergencies. We called, Dr. Guttman answered and told us to meet him at the office in an hour. He seemed to genuinely understand how much this thing hurt! He has a great computer system where you can see the x-rays and pictures he takes on a computer screen. Well, I needed a root canal, but the tooth was infected, so he put something on it for the pain & something for the infection and it stopped hurting! We scheduled the root canal for a week later. WHen I thanked him for helping me in an emergency he said "It was my pleasure". I felt like he genuinely meant it. Needless to say Dr. Guttman is my regular dentist now. Between him, Debbi & Donna I feel so welcomed and cared for while I am there. I almost look forward to dentist appointments now - just to see these guys. read more
