My husband and I love this place for many reasons! We have gone several times for breakfast and a couple of times for dinner. The portions are huge! I recommend the veggie omelet and crispy hash browns. Coffee is always good and servers are friendly. There are 2 major dining rooms plus a bar. I have gotten the Reuben several times with cole slaw. Both wonderful. They regular have 1-3 member bands that play just about every night. Definitely a great local hangout! read more

Walked in for a quick breakfast before going grocery shopping. Place was very busy. Typically a good sign. Sat myself and waited for a bit for waitress to become available. Ordered chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and hash brown. Chicken fried steak and hash browns were on point but my eggs were cold. Sent the eggs back for a re heat and they back hot but rubbery. Probably over done in the microwave Would have liked for the eggs to come out warm with main dish - I think I would have enjoyed more. Service was good throughout and they happily accommodated my request for a to go cup for my soft drink My server didn't have any input when asked about the various America flags hanging through the dining area. would have been nice to get some commentary on that. What a pleasant surprise! We've driven past this place for years and always assumed it was just a bar with maybe some food. Glad we stopped to check it out! 2 rooms with booths and tables and the bar is in it's own room. Lots of menu choices and desserts to select from. Perhaps the best biscuits and gravy in Tucson, in my opinion. Pancakes are fluffy and huge and take up an entire plate. French toast was flavorful. Eggs and hash browns were cooked perfectly. Parking is adequate, spaces are a little close together for my taste but not too bad. Walking in, we were greeted and it is a sit yourself style restaurant. Ambiance appears to be dependent on the crowd, which in this case was Saturday morning and was a good mix of all ages. Service staff is friendly. Upon arrival of our food, everything was good. I did notice one of my wife's pieces of toast was very dark, slightly burnt. Overall, the food was good. Nothing particularly memorable, but a good meal. I would recommend this as a place to eat when you want a predictable meal with no surprises, a place to go out when meeting with friends or to have a break from cooking. read more

Still a great place for breakfast! My chicken fried steak was tender and crispy, the eggs cooked right, and again, they happily substituted a side salad for the hash browns. Everyone else enjoyed their choices as well. Some of it came home as leftovers for another meal. Our server was amazing! She came by several times to see how we were doing and if everything was good. The restaurant's decor hasn't changed much, and has a comfy feel to it. Great experience again. read more

Stopped Sunday early afternoon for a drink to check out the menu. Unfortunately they close at 2pm on Sundays. Bartender was kind en to serve me a drink as they were still cleaning and people finishing up in restaurant. Drink prices were fair and staff were kind. I really enjoyed coming to the small breakfast restaurant. I had the garbage omelette which essentially has everything in it. I really enjoy how affordable this places to have breakfast for two people. The chorizo and eggs is also outstanding. I love how the service is always prompt and the coffee is always topped off. My first time ordering here, will not be my last, unless the price increases. Trash can omelette is what I ordered and the cheese actually stretched and was flavorful, I think my dog was in awe when she saw the cheese so high, I know I was....haven't had that taste or stretch in a long while. My bestie and I stopped by for breakfast this last Saturday. I really like this place it's very comfortable, booths and tables scattered about. A refrigerated case to take home various baked goods. The server was amazing, food was delicious. The eggs tasted creamy even in an omelette. I recommend the home potatoes. The iced tea tasted freshly brewed as well as the coffee. People come to Tucson for a lot of reasons, but one of my motivations to visit is that so many restaurants devote themselves to tasty and affordable breakfasts - a nod to the snowbirds, I suppose. Jethro's is a good example of this: an independently owned restaurant/tavern that's clearly a favorite with the locals, at least judging from the number of seniors and retirees occupying the banquettes the morning I was there. The food is pretty good - standard breakfast fare, along with homemade burritos - and it comes in large quantities. I opted for the smoked ham and cheddar cheese omelette with hash browns and an English muffin, which gave me a huge 4-egg omelette, a goodly portion of very good never-frozen hash browns, and a well toasted muffin, delivered to my table in less than 10 minutes by my welcoming and friendly waitperson (dressed as a kitty cat, as today is Halloween). I always think that I'll never be able to finish entrees of this size but, invariably, I always do - particularly when we're talking breakfast. The omelette was a bit of the greasy side, likely due to all of that cheddar, but very tasty and the spuds were good as well, though next time I think I'll request extra crispy. The bill came to about $14, without coffee. The atmosphere is your basic red neck wanna-be, with flags and airbrushed hicks (and John Wayne) painted on the walls. It didn't feel aggressively red, though I didn't talk politics or listen in on any of the other guests' conversation, but your mileage may vary. read more

For 35 years, Jethro's has been our "go to" restaurant. We frequently meet friends and family there. However, during a recent visit, we heard the owner yelling at his staff in the kitchen. 03/20/2023: Stopped by on a Monday around 1230 with a friend and were seated in the middle (flag section). Ordered up two Bloody Marys and ordered lunch. The drinks were really cool looking and tasted great. I ordered up the spinach salad. Lots of spinach, topped with crumbled bacon, muchrooms, hard boiled egg, tomatoe, and smootherd in some kind of bacon dressing. The salad and mixings were very delicious. Just about 1400 were rushed to paid the bill and ended up finishing up in the bar section. I heard their breakfast is really good. Probably not the most heart healthy joints around. I found it was just a great place to eat. I enjoyed their decor of US flags. Obviously a very patriotic establishment. I had the two eggs, with bacon, hash brown's, toast and one pancake. Eggs were cooked to perfection, bacon was crispy. Came across town for the Chipped beef gravy (S.O.S.) but our server Amber explained that unfortunately they have temporarily taken it off the menu because the owner wasn't happy with the meat he had been getting, so until he finds a quality he's happy with, no SOS. Although I was bummed, I respect the fact that the owner refuses to sell something he isn't happy with. Amber suggested the corned beef hash and a side of biscuit and gravy. The hash turned out to be very tasty. It hash came with eggs and also some home style potatoes. This seemed a little strange since the hash already has potatoes in it. The potatoes; looked to be red skinned and were cooked perfectly but were a little bland. My BF got the chicken fried steak which he said was very good. The gravy that was on the biscuit and gravy was the star of the show for me. It had such a deep, rich flavor you can tell it's made with heavy cream rather than the standard milk that most places use. They do have a bar which was nice because I love having a Bloody Mary on Sunday mornings. Our server Amber was fabulous! She made great recommendations and took excellent care of us. I wish they were located closer to me, they would definitely be part of my breakfast rotation but I will definitely be going back for the chipped beef on toast. read more

We had to go to the Eastside of Tucson and needed something to eat. Had a coupon, but when we got there they had a notice up about not providing discounts at this time. We decided to still go in and try them out. Your classic little diner and we were the youngest in there. We noticed the name had changed by adding tavern....we were tempted to head on and check out the bar area, but decided it was best to have breakfast!!!! Staff was very attentive, food was surprisingly good, and we are glad we stopped in. It appeared they were providing take-out so paying for the check was a bit on the slow side. Wasn't too much of a problem- just make sure you aren't in a hurry. We eat breakfast here all the time and the food is good and the service is friendly. The portions are hearty. I really like their pancakes with whole blueberries cooked in or one of their giant 4-egg omelets. My companion likes the ham steak as the meat with the standard breakfast. The ham is better here than many other places. The hash browns are thinly shredded and well seasoned. Coffee is good. The decor is pure "redneck" and proud of it. They have cartoonish murals of rural people on every wall. The parking lot is somewhat strange. Prices are on par with casual breakfast. read more
