Jim N Nicks is a go to for me and my boyfriend. While usually one or the other of us tend to get the brisket since we both love brisket, we've decided that theirs is not our favorite. I got this spare ribs this time and they were SO GOOD. I got the 1lb with fries and a house salad. It was so much food that it easily gave me two meals. Also the side salad was amazing! This is Nashville, and craving for some ribs! There are other stores nearby from our suite, that opens until 10. We got there about 8:20? We were seated right away, and ordered soon after. Our service was friendly, fast, he answered our questions, or go back and find answers for us. Since it was late, they did not have any more ribs. We ordered the next best thing: beef brisket. Collard greens and baked beans for 2 sides. We shared. We didn't know it came with 4 -so-cute 2-bites worth corn muffins and butter. We asked for seconds on the muffins! Jim 'N Nicks on Charlotte Pike is a great all around BBQ joint. The dine-in staff are always so friendly and attentive whenever we are there, and they really shine as a to-go spot given their Value Feast Menu which serves four, perfect for busy families. We usually get the brisket with the mac and cheese, coleslaw, and one other trimming. Our toddler loves their cheese biscuits (and so do we). They are always so generous with these, and the flavor is on point: sweet, savory, not too greasy and pillowy soft. Portions are so generous all around, and we never leave the table feeling hungry. The bbq sauce is the perfect blend of tangy, smoky, and sweet. My partner loves their jalepeño cheddar sausage particularly on top of their nachos. The menu is so extensive, and there's definitely something for everyone. They have a great community focus as well, and we often see little placards of how the restaurant is sponsoring local elementary sports teams and such in the entryway. I have never been disappointed with the quality at this location. Sometimes the drive through line gets pretty long but the staff hands it as best they can. This time I got a pulled pork sandwich that had lots of pulled pork and I appreciated them for putting the sauce on the side as requested. We had just had Jim N Nicks the week prior in Nashville but I loved the sausage so much that I had to have it again. This time we tried the chips and queso with jalapeno sausage, the smoked chicken, and a sausage with an extra side of macaroni. The biscuits came out fresh and delicious as usual. The chips and queso was good, but I'd probably choose the nachos over the queso next time just because price to size ratio; the nachos were better. The food was delicious and the service was great. Our server had a large party but still made sure that we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself was clean too. I can't speak for the bathrooms, but our area was clean. read more

We have enjoyed BBQ at this local chain for some time. When they changed the format to counter ordering, I wasn't sure what the dining experience would feel like. But on a recent visit, we had really great service, food came out fast, and everything was tasty. I do think they need to expand their beverage station to accommodate busy times. That station is not very well placed in the restaurant, and feels cramped behind the cash registers. There are definitely barbecue places close by where we enjoy the "smoke" better, but on a Sunday afternoon, this place is a good choice when most of the other barbecue joints are closed. read more

Back in Nashville to help move our daughter into a new apartment. While out getting supplies and stuff, saw Jim ' Nick's. Hey , it's lunchtime, let's eat! In the past few years, we've had the opportunity to try several different BBQ places, but this was our first visit here. Greeted cheerfully and seated right away. Our waiter was quickly at our table and got our drink order. Ok. A slight warning....when he brought our drinks, he brought the muffins/biscuits. Oh wow!! These are like sweet cornbread (or Johnny cakes) with a touch of cheddar cheese. Delicious! I say warning since you'll want to scarf them down fast and get more! That good! I got the "pig on a bun", pulled pork sandwich with fries. My daughter got the chicken strips with the baked potato as a side. My wife ordered the Chopped southern salad with chicken. Food came out very quickly. My sandwich was NOT drowning in sauce, like some places. Just a bit to add some extra flavor. And the sauce was darn near perfect. Not really sweet, not all tangy mustard. I've had the opportunity to travel around and try different bbq places, and try the sauces, but this one really struck a taste bud! Something special about it. Soooo good. My daughter's chicken and potato was definitely a winner. The chicken was moist inside, and a nice crunchy outside. The baked potato was huge and loaded! She could only eat a couple of strips of chicken and about half of the potato. Took the rest home. My wife had the chopped southern salad with chicken. She said the chicken nearly melted in her mouth, it was that good. Well, that's saying something, huh? She was very happy with her choice! My wife got banana bread pudding for dessert. Now a update on Jim N Nick's 2025 my five star changed to four .in the last few years this place have became very mediocre Thais one lady in take out is awful the lady was very good but I experienced the bad first learned to check my bags the last visit when my order was not correct call the next day and good almost called a lye but anyhow this time no bread was in the bag the mean lady (looked drunk) took the bad and searched it till it was empty and still looked at me like I took it out the food wasn't bad wasn't as good as the past but it was okay I still will recommend this place for the BBQ lovers I will be returning not to soon but I'll get over it maybe I should eat in next time read more

I just went to Jim & Nick's. Positives- The restaurant smells great and the servers are wonderful. Negatives- Jim & Nick's served the worst barbecue I've ever had. The ribs were so salty and dry I couldn't eat them. The best way to describe them: There's a show on Netflix called The Terror about two ships that get stranded in the Arctic Circle in the 1800s. Facing starvation, surviving crew members resort to cannibalism. In one scene they show them eating meat from a dead man's butt. The meat on Jim & Nick's ribs looked like it had the exact same consistency and tenderness of what I saw in this dead sailor's buttocks. The collard greens tasted off and the barbecue corn looked like the corn had been harvested after a long drought. Living in Nashville I can think tons of better barbecue places that serve amazing food- Bringle's Smoking Oasis, Peg Leg Porker, Martin's, Edleys, Judge Bean's, Ooh Wee Pah in North Nashville, Honeyfire, and too many others to list. I absolutely love barbecue but given the choice between eating Jim & Nick's or nothing, I'd go to bed hungry. read more

Jim and nicks is a great bbq spot in Nashville. I love that they have table service and it's not just order at the counter like most of the restaurants I've visited so far. The winner: chicken wings. Smoked wings, with a not-so-traditional buffalo sauce was the best part of the meal (I wish I had ordered bleu cheese over ranch though). The good: all of the meat was great, especially the brisket. Fries were good too. The biscuits to start were fantastic. Mac and cheese was so-so to me, but my partner liked it, and I admit I am picky about Mac n cheese. The "bad" (not really bad, just not my taste): the sauces. They were too watery for my taste. I tried the Carolina which is vinegar based, it was ok. Their house sauce was too watery and still too vinegary for my taste. Slaw was heavy on the vinegar too, but again, I'm also picky about coleslaw. Too much vinegar was used, and I do like vinegar. Overall, great spot, wings were the best, restaurant is beautiful and well kept. Service was great for a Saturday night. read more

I was there years ago on opening night and continued to eat there on a regular basis for a long, long time. It was outstanding. No longer outstanding, but still solid for the most part. The restaurant itself, while clean, is starting to look a little long in the tooth. Needs some updating. They used to have a great little ribeye steak that came with a salad and side, but no longer. (I know, it's a barbecue restaurant, BUT they sell chicken fingers, so why not the steak?). I used to order a whole rack of baby back ribs, but now priced at thirty something dollars, nope, not anymore. I ordered a pulled pork platter with potato salad and baked beans. Pork was good, moist and good flavor, albeit no longer a choice of bbq sauces (they used to have at least 2), and none on the table. Potato salad was good. Baked beans were so-so. Not what I remember from the past. The little basket of bread and butter is still A-1. Had to ask for salt and pepper. Had to ask for an extra napkin. Server was friendly. I might be back, but it'll be a while, and not often. With Edley's, Jack's BBQ, and Martin's BBQ all about the same distance from my house, much better options elsewhere, especially at Edley's and Jack's. read more

Don't know who runs this establishment, and yes i say establishment because it's the furthest thing from a restaurant, but they obviously do not know what they are doing in the slightest. My husband and I had a craving for some good bbq and we happened to drive by this place on the way back to our air bnb. Quickly we decided to stop in and give it a try. From the moment that we walked in the door it was nothing but a horrific experience. It took us walking up to one of the waitresses for anyone to notice that we were waiting to be seated. Then after we were seated, we waited probably another 10 minutes on someone to come greet us and take our drink order. They obviously dont let their staff take breaks because this girl was scarfing down some food like it was the first time she had eaten in days, right on the counter of where the kitchen serves the guests meals. Finally after sucking the food off of all 10 fingers, she came right over, introduced herself, and took our drink order. Oh did i mention the juicy cockroach that ran across our table while we were waiting? He probably was trying to find the quickest escape route just like us.
