I went through the drive-in of course being a newly opened restaurant it was packed, but the drive through was surprisingly quick. The service and the cheddar biscuits were the best part of my meal. I ordered the rib plate with Mac and cheese and barbecued corn on the cob. The biscuits were warm and cheesy. The Arnold Palmer was cold and refreshing. The ribs were boiled- which for me is not really barbecue. They lacked flavor and were a little tough. The Mac had chewy pieces, almost like some of the noodles were undercooked. The corn tasted like water. Adding a little salt to the water, and not just sprinkling season on top after it's cooked, might help. The biscuits and drink got me through the meal. I eat here often and it never disappoints. Food is consistent, good portions, tastes great and take out is packaged properly. Sometimes I sit at the bar and enjoy the friendliness of the bartender, sometimes I sit outside and enjoy a good book. The food at Jim N Nicks is still the best, prices have gone up. And the ambiance of the restaurant has changed since the last time we were this was about a year ago. They have done away with a lot of the booths. in the center is this big deer chandler over a table with nothing but plates and silverware. Tables in the center are gone, replace with long bench seating. Just over all not very appealing. The wife and I went around 4pm no greeter at the door when we walked in. People coming in after were not impressed with the ambiance either. And talking with one of the waitress she didn't like the way the seating was either. By the entrance they made an area which cut into the banquet room which is for to go orders. Don't know what they were thinking when they did this, but it is ugly. read more

Just updating my review. Still one of my favorite places to eat in Hiram. Not sure what was up when I rated the first time... or if the sauces and/or drinks have changed over the years, but their regular red barbecue sauce is very, very tasty, and so is the sweet tea, as I recall. Was very excited to see our favorite place in Hiram was open for dine in. We had great food and great service this time around but they lost points due to critical issues. First and foremost they lost a point for not following COVID guidelines around customers wearing masks. Virtually no customers wore masks or social distances both inside or outside. To get in or out of the restaurant you had to squeeze past folks waiting inside with almost none wearing masks. Our table was the first near the entrance and the majority of the time we had unmasked customers waiting on tables standing right next to our table. One older woman kept coughing the entire time so if we get sick, we know where we got it. They also lose another point, half each, for not having any specialty vegetables like the sautéed cabbage which is one of our favorite sides. They also no longer have 1000 island dressing which was my favorite and probably the best I ever had. Quite a let down. Since their COVID prevention practices are severely lacking, we'll wait to come back after COVID is gone. If you care about not catching it, I would suggest you do the same. read more

I enjoyed this place very much. Seems to be several negative reviews but I must have got them on a good day because everything was perfect. Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. My dinner was fine, I ordered the grilled chicken plate with the fruit and the potato salad. The chicken was good, as was the fruit and the Dorothy Peach iced tea. However my wife ordered pulled chicken and when the server brought her meal, it was two halves of chicken, not pulled. Also the Chicken wasn't even warm, she told the server. The server was apologetic and offered to take it back and she said they would make her a fresh plate. When she brought it back in just a few minutes , it was pulled but still just luke warm, so she sent it back and stated she didn't want it replaced and didn't want it, so the server said she would tell the manager. About 10 minutes later the server brought the check and just laid it on the table and said "thanks". We looked at the check and saw that my wife's entree was comped but she was charged for her sides which were included in the meal but there were two separate charges for the two sides. The manager never came over to apologize but yet he was right behind us the entire time because our table was right next to the window where the servers pick up there food. So let me just say, we have been here before and never had such a horrible experience. So I wonder what was going on tonight, new cooks etc., I get it, but for the Manager on duty who was behind us there the entire time helping to get orders out, for him not to even come over and apologize to us. That was not professional nor guest oriented. Hence my review was a one star. read more

On the way too Rome (not the real Rome) decided to stop by for some dinner at Jim 'Nic Nick's Bar-B-Q.. Friends visiting in Rome recommended this place for some southern style barbeque. I was not disappointed. The cheese biscuits were awesome way too start the meal. Something different then your normal bread and butter. I love the balance between the cheese and biscuits. Not too cheesy but just right. It nice hot and fresh. The best parts is when you break it in half see the steam coming out of it. Moist. We started by sharing an order of the pork nachos. Talk about nice size. Talk about fully loaded between the cheese, lettuce, onions, jalapeno, and best part the barbeque pork. We ordered half chicken since one of my friends not fan of pork. Our serve was real nice and more then happy too make it happen. I enjoy fact that every chip never dry and was loaded with all the goods on top! =)) My entree order the pulled pork sandwich. I knew tasting some on the pulled pork sandwich on the nachos was going too be da bomb. I liked the fact the pork was moist loaded with flavor. I added more hot barbeque sauce (they have bottle of regular and hot barbeque as condiment of every table) just kicked it up just right. The only thing that could have been better was the bread. I felt like not fresh daily baked bread. Still between the pork and the barbeque sauce enjoyed every bite. The fries were okay. The sweet tea was really good too! The perfect way too wash down great southern meal. The service was fabulous! Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we were happy throughout our meal. This is one of my favorite spots to grab some bbq. Very fresh and the sauce is different then most places. Cheese biscuits are so amazing red lobster watch out. The line was a bit busy at the drive thru which is worth it. And yes they have drive thru. How many bbq places have fresh bbq served while your still in your car. Not many I know. So here in Dallas Ga this Jim and Nicks is as good as the one I went to in Smyrna so that says a lot when the service is great at more than one location. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to grab some smoked and decently seasoned bbq that not drowning in sauce. I went with a pretty big group and although we said we didn't mind being split to 2-3 different tables, they were kind enough to accommodate all 13 of us by combining the tables. They took our drink orders quickly but after that, service kind of slowed down. I know we were a big group and we were all hungry from traveling so the wait might have been more exaggerated in our eyes but it took a while for the server to take our order and more so to bring our food. I ordered the Mushroom and Swiss burger medium rare. Definitely not medium anything. Everything was well too done...my friend across from me had ordered the same thing but medium and even hers was cooked all the way making the meat too dry for me. Some of us ordered the salad as a side and very small portion of sad, wilted greens was given. No tomatoes,onions...nada just a couple of old field greens with a side of ranch. The only food I enjoyed was the unlimited free cheese biscuits they gave us in the beginning, but even too much of that wasn't good. Wayy too sweet. Overall, the interior was cool, server was friendly and the menu concept awesome! The food however, very very average. My order wasn't ready so I sat down at the bar. Time passed (at least 20 mins.) and despite the waitstaff asking me if I had been helped, nobody offered me a drink. Jim N Nicks in Hiram catered for my company, Envelope Superstore yesterday and it was fabulous! The food was fresh and hot and the service was excellent! The meat was tender, the mac n cheese melted in your mouth and the potato salad was so flavorful! EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD! I can't leave out the cookies and brownies though...mouth watering!
