Terrible. Celebrated my 43rd birthday here, I should have gone to the corner pizza shop and gotten a pasta dish. My table of 17 returned 3 plates. The owner came to the table right next to us and asked how their food was, but chose not to ask any of us. So, I went over to him to let him know how unprofessional that was, that his staff should have alerted him once 1 plate was returned let alone 3, that he was unprofessional in not asking our table of 17 how the food was. All I got was, my back hurt. His back did not hurt when he asked at least 6 people of the large party beside us how their food was, to literally turn to the other side and ask the same question would have been very appropriate. PLACE SUCKS! Even the butter was hard for the bread. I had to give it 1 star to place the review, I'd say -5!!!! read more

I've lived in Bayside for many years, and grew up in north Flushing, so I'm actually kind of surprised I'd never eaten here before. The ambiance was wonderful despite there being 2 big parties going on, as was the service. Desert was wonderful, the portions large, but I found the food 'adequate', I had the tortellini soup, and while the broth was OK, the pasta was bland and a bit undercooked. Both my wife and I had the stuffed pork chop that was on special, and again, I found the sauce a bit bland (but well presented). The veggies were an uninspired squash/carrot/broccoli mix (but well cooked), I thought the meal would have been a LOT better with say a nice sauteed broccoli rabe. G L. 6/9/2013 It's been an hour and a half since we sat down and still waiting for the entree. Some of the wait staff is great while others clearly need some more training. One almost spilled soup on my five year old niece! Wish I could tell you about the entree but sadly I can't yet... Food finally came after an hour and 45 min. It was "eh". My food was lukewarm and I could only imagine what it would have tasted like hot. Some other people in my family did get hot food but in the end it we decided we would not be going back. Stumbled on this place by accident. Couldn't be more pleased. Not once do I open a menu. Instead I listen to what the specials are that day, order and have always been pleased. The staff is attentive and friendly. The prices are more than fair. I try to go at least once a week and am determined to eventually try the whole menu. read more

Excellent. I got there before my party, sat at the bar and ordered a bottle of wine. Javier was very helpful, made me feel at home and even gave me the remote for the TV. I'll start with the pros, wine was good and bread was served warm...but that's it. Can't really see why this place has 4 stars unless your taste buds are fried. Is this is the only Italian restaurant in Bayside? If you're coming from the city, please turn around. One of our neighbor's recommended this place so my boyfriend and I came with an open mind but this is not a traditional New York Italian restaurant. The waiters were friendly but the ambiance was dry. Place had no character. My boyfriend and I shared the portobello mushroom which was drenched in mozzarella cheese, and soggy spinach. I ordered the Mushroom Baked Ziti and my boyfriend ordered the Gnochi Bolognese. The pasta was not fresh nor homemade. It was stale, bland and definitely cooked to box- pasta standards. The mushrooms had nooooooo flavor and you can tell they just dumped all the ingredients together, which is just...soo wrong. The only time you do that is when you forget about your company's potluck and you have to whip up something last minute. That's the only way to get away with dump, dump, dump baked ziti. read more

We have dined at Jimmy's on 6 previous occasions so we knew this was the place to have our 40th Anniversary party on October 7, 2018. The food was expertly prepares, fresh and visually enticing. Every guest was impressed with food and complimented about it. We had selected the Supreme Package and it did not disappoint. Of particular note was the stuffed shrimp, stuffed lobster and the filet Mignon. You can make use of the sound system and the large flat screen for a audio/visual experience with little more than a thumb drive and iPhone or IPod. Wines and beer were top line. Went to jimmys last night on a monday...for a birthday ...I've been driving by this place for years...it never really stood out...with the plain signage and being on the slower side of bell blvd...that being said I've really have been missing out!... First off the place is spotless ...bathroom too...the room is spacious with a long bar against the backwall...decor is soft tones with that touch of Italian flair..quite surprisingly nice...it's unexpected from the plain exterior... Now for the good part...service was attentive and friendly...we had a few martinis done well...and the house wines were good..appetizers we shared a hot antipasto and fried calamari perfecto...I ordered what I'm guessing is there signature dish veal valdastano...sadly they were out, probably cause it was monday..the reason for only 4 stars!!! Instead I had the chicken rolitini...with cheese prosciutto mushrooms and marsala sauce...it was outstanding...and my sister had the lobster special in Luciano sauce over pasta...this was the best dish on our table..get it if its there!!!! Had a Halloween party last night, everyone had a great time and enjoyed the party room. Excellent food and customer service. I had so much kids in the room and the waiters were busy coming in and out with the kids running around, our waiters stayed very professional and served us the whole night without any complaining. Jimmy's is one of Bayside's best kept secrets. A little off the beaten path of the restaurant scene on Bell, this restaurant is well worth the trip. I have been coming here with my family for years for special occasions, Friday night dinners, you name it. When Jimmy comes to ask about your meal, you really feel like you are dining in the home of a good friend. The food is exceptional, the service is magnificent, and the drinks are fantastic. I've never had a complaint about the food & I've even been here for baby showers & more. We were the only ones in for a late lunch when they opened. I was able to basically make my own pasta entree which was very nice of them. Their olive oil, seasoning, and garlic dip with bread is a new favorite of mine. We had their eggplant as an appetizer which was new for me to try and excellent, especially if you're vegetarian. I have been a regular dining with Jimmy for about 20 years now, ever since it was Maria's Trattoria, owned by a great man named Sal. A few years ago Sal passed and Jimmy took over the place which was basically a hole in the wall and renovated and expanded the place. It now looks amazing and the food has never been better. I can seriously say I have tried almost everything on the menu, but the Penne ala Vodka is my favorite dish there, hands down. If your looking for a nice sit down dinner with a great atmosphere, then look no further than Jimmy's. I mean where else can you find such good food at such a reasonable price? The only downside to dining there is parking can be a hassle, but driving around looking for a spot is worth it for melt in your mouth Italian food. Your taste buds will surely thank you. Jimmy's is a great restaurant! When you look at it from the outside it seems as if there's no one in there or it's closed. But it's actually nice and cozy inside. The atmosphere is pleasant and the volume doesn't get unbearable. The food is delicious! It's hard to find a really good Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. It really helps that the staff pays attention to you throughout your meal. Also, some nights Jimmy will be there himself and take the orders from table to table. We went to Jimmy's for the first time with another couple. Had no idea how it would be being we went by the reviews online. The food was delicious! The staff was excellent. I had the chicken rollatini, it was amazing. Everyone loved their meal. The place was packed by the time we left but even still we were not rushed out. I came here about two weeks ago and let me tell you the food was absolutely delicious. Jimmy's immediately became my favorite restaurant in Bayside. I had the chicken pizzaiola and fettucine alfredo. I recently moved to Bayside and one night while going for a walk, passed Jimmy's Trattoria. From the moment I walked in the door with my boyfriend, Jimmy had greeted us and introduced himself and told us to make ourselves at home. The environment is quaint and a nice place for families. We dined at the bar and during our experience, people came in and out who seemed to be regulars and the owner, Jimmy knew them on a first name basis which is nice to see. Jimmy was very involved in all responsibilities from running food, getting drinks and seating people. The food was great as well and we highly recommend Jimmy's. Can't wait to go back! read more

Other than fast food, I don't think I've ever been served that fast in my life! A perfect setting for my niece's graduation party. The meal was delicious. I had the seafood special; linguini, scallops, lobster and crabs over a white wine sauce. My friends and I (party of 6) were at this place for my fiance's birthday about three months ago, and everything was going great until our dishes came out. My friend ordered fish--not sure exactly what kind--but he ate half of it; only to find out, that there was a Corona glass-bottle cap under his fish the entire time. We showed it to the manager and he specifically told us that nobody drinks beer in the kitchen. Okay, if that was the case, where the heck did the bottle cap come from? Do you really think we would be that much of losers to do something so fraudulent and so wrong like that? He was trying to imply that it wasn't his restaraunt workers that did that; but we insisted that he checked the cameras since one was facing our table. I could not believe the audacity that he actually defended his kitchen workers (which I find honorable) but you have to understand that customers are NOT out there to sabotage your business; we just want to eat and have a good time. He then offered to give us free drinks to help minimize the situation. Now, let's say the worst thing happened: my friend bit into that fish and cut his mouth or chipped a tooth. Whose fault is that? Ours or yours? Just be careful next time and make sure your damn workers are not drinking on their job, especially in the kitchen. Thanks. read more

Everthing they say is true , We go to the Parkside & wait 4 ever 4 a table - with a reservation ! This place should have lines out the door it is so good. We eat the salad with walnuts & gorgonzola cheese. A lot 4 two & delish. Then I eat sea bass oregonata - also great. Service is good and they really do not rush you. read more

Hmm - not as fresh as it should be. Should have had olive oil/herbs for bread dipping rather than plain butter. Had to ask for that as well as cheese for your pasta sauce. Service should have refilled water and check often. Tasteless special portobello appetizer dish. It would be nice if they asked if you would like ground pepper for your salad. Minestrone soup was very thin. Fish entrees were good though sole Carducci was of a smaller size portion. All and all not more than an average meal. Just a neighborhood place. I had heard that this place was reasonably priced and offered a number of delicious plates. However, that was not my experience at Jimmy's. Like the man who posted before me, our bread was also burned. Though the water was filled at all times (possibly because there was only another couple in the restaurant at that time), my baked ziti included another ingredient that I surely did not order: a roach!!!!!!!! I did not want to make a scene so I put my plate to the side and demanded my husband to get the check as soon as possible. I surely do not recommend this place to anyone, despite their wishes for an "intimate" meal, because after all, not so intimate with critters around. read more
