We typically head down to Orlando for ramen, but dreaded the drive and saw a nearby ramen restaurant on Yelp. So glad we did! The most delicious ramen I've had. The broth truly was excellent on both dishes we tried. Spicy, savory and I found myself spooning every last drop. The meat was tender and tasty, egg was perfectly soft boiled and noodles were fresh. We had the spicy miso and dan dan ramen. Would definitely order again. Service was great. Outdoor seating was lovely with string lights and music. Clearly a family-run restaurant that cares about its quality and service. It's not the fanciest restaurant, but the good ones never are. It's worth a drive. We will definitely be regulars. read more

I had such high hopes but I'm sad to say tonight was not a good night. I had ramen in NYC a few months ago and when I saw this restaurant and the reviews (with pictures), I thought I would have the best ramen available here. I ordered the Nagasaki ramen and my husband got the Dan Dan pork ramen. Mine should have had nice sized shrimp and squid, but it barely had any. The picture from other reviewer here on Yelp showed big shrimp with squid ringlets. My bowl had a few tiny "salad shrimp" and 5 tiny squid pieces that were the diameter of a dime. Now I know the noodles are the main attraction but the meat needs to be in their too! I was really disappointed. The roll was delicious and I would give them one more try just to experience their sushi, but I won't be having the ramen again. read more

my partner & I got here at 8:20pm knowing they close at 9pm, we sat and knew what we wanted to order before even parking. we sat outside since we had our dog with us. all 3 workers looked at us but did not come out, after 10 minutes of waiting I decided to walk up to the door and as I walked up they turned off their lights, locked the doors and switched the sign to 'closed'. they never said anything to us, very VERY rude. they closed at 8:30pm but advertise they close at 9pm. We would've been okay with them closing early if they would've told us that they were not serving anymore or literally anything. but they didn't say anything and stared at us as they locked everything down.. absolute trash experience and horrible service. read more

This place reminds me of a typical small family-owned Japanese restaurant in Japan. It's quiet, nice, and cozy. We first went there because my wife really wanted some Tonkotsu ramen, and I didn't wanna drive far. This is the only one in town with good reviews. It's easy to remember, a Japanese restaurant on French Ave. lol Seems like the owner was a legit Japanese chef who had plenty of experience. He cooks the food in the real Japanese way, and the servers seemed to be his family members. They are always very nice and make it a delighted dining experience. Their ramen was not salty, and the broth was very flavorful. Each bowl had all the necessary ingredients. We only went there for their ramen, but they do have other things too. Make sure you go early, if you go 1 hr before their closing time, they will only have ramen left, everything else is gone. I do recommend this place. read more

No way...no how is this a Sushi restaurant, I arrived a few days ago at lunch time thinking I would try the Spicy Tuna roll and maybe a little Miso Soup and a side salad...The waitress greeted me friendly and was ready to seat me and I asked to wash up first and she directed me outside, (seriously??) went to wash up and there was no soap and it resembled a gas station bathroom... On to the food, to play it safe I just ordered the Spicy Tuna, since there was no lunch specials and a draft Sapporo, the beer was ice cold and delicious, I was really surprised to see my order coming out well within 5 mins of ordering, but when she set it down I could see why. There version of Spicy tuna consist of chilled mush, really with the consistency of baby food, and not spicy at all, the Wasabi was dark green in spots that says its been sitting out for sometime...I tried one piece and found the rice to be really warm around the chilled mush. I have had spicy tuna at many restaurants and the tuna has always been chopped, fresh and tasty, who knows what that ground mess contained. I cannot recommend this place, I try to support my local businesses, but I will continue to go to Orange City for my Sushi fix. read more

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Sanford. You might overlook it, because you wouldn't expect to find great Japanese food in this area, but you need to check this place out. A group of my friends visited this afternoon (Saturday from 4:00 PM to almost 6:00 PM) and we were the only ones in the restaurant besides the staff. It's a crying shame because the food was delicious and the service was attentive with the chef bringing us some of our food. To start we ordered gyoza, takoyaki, and kara-ague. It was all delicious. I'm not a seafood person, but o would recommend trying the takoyaki if you're curious. It was really tasty and worth a try. The kara-ague was fantastic and definitely a favorite of the table! I ordered the tomato ramen and loved it. The broth was rich and a bit spicy. My husband ordered the yakisoba and enjoyed it very much. He said it was really filling and wasn't able to finish his plate. All of our friends praised their food while we were eating. One of our friends ordered several rolls of sushi and said it was amazing. Definitely check this place out! It needs more business. I would hate to see it close just because no one knows about it. read more

The food was incredible and the service was very good - We had an opportunity to meet the chef and he was very polite and a gracious host. If you get past the building, you will not be disappointed. So, I totally see where someone would see the location as an issue. No frills at all and just generally weird. Not exactly in a part of town you would expect a place like this to thrive. The food was excellent, the Ramen was absolutely delicious. I really do not understand why the only serve Ramen on weds. nights, I rarely can get there for lunch and while I enjoy the sushi and other menu items, I go back for the Ramen. I could easily see this as an Orlando 5 star restaurant that competes with the best if and only if it was a different location. Honestly the food is good enough that I am giving them an extra point but I really want to give the location 2 stars. It is that bad; its ugly, it has a lot of functional obsolescence, the furniture is old and unfitting, it has a weird smell even. I honestly have a hard time even recommending the place to someone unless I know they would absolutely appreciate the food. If this location were to reopen in the downtown area of Sanford with nice, clean, somewhat hip vibe it would absolutely smash it. People would come from far away. To the owner, I would really consider rethinking the location and I would seriously consider at the very least hiring a consultant to help with your front of the house. You obviously know food and quite well but your food and location/appearance are not matching up at all. I wish this place the best, I really do. Went there, First off the table is sticky smells of urine, we had to ask for a different table that also had to be wiped down. They had a decent looking sushi menu but ONLY had the three cheapest sushi like sea urchin, horse mackerel and bbq eel. Miso Ramen was pretty good! I'd definitely get that first choice if I went back. The edamame tasted like something out of the freezer section at publix. The gyoza did also. We went during happy hour and got the Take a Chance, which is jalapeños stuffed with spicy tuna, breaded and fried, served with what seemed like hoisin or teriyaki sauce. Oh, my... Let me tell you. You are really taking a chance here, cause you never know if you're getting a jalapeño with mega heat, medium heat, or no heat at all. But regardless of the heat level, the taste is fantastic. Presentation was beautiful! What a gem for Sanford. I had a pair of sushi rolls for lunch, which were fresh, and pretty good. Only a 4-star review based on selection and price point (before tip, $17 is a little steep for lunch when you only order a spicy tuna roll and shrimp tempura). I noticed online after my visit that a lunch menu with lower price point was available, but I wasn't offered that menu on my first visit. I definitely will be back to try to Ramen at lunch! Went here with my wife Tonight. We had the Spicy Edamame, and the Pork Gyoza to start, both were excellent. After that, I had the Spicy Miso Ramen and she had the Tonkatsu Ramen. I've had Ramen all over Orlando, and many other cities I've traveled to, and this was top notch. For dessert, We had the mango and chocolate mochi, both were delicious. My wife and I tried this place based on a recommendation from a co-worker. It is one of the most authentic Japanese restaurants that we have been able to find in Orlando. Real grated wasabi not the powder/paste is used here. I ordered the omakase (Chef's Tasting Menu), and my wife got the grilled yellow tail special. I tried sea eel nigiri for the first time. I am usually a big fan of eel, but this seal eel blew my mind. My wife's fish was also prepared perfectly. It was grilled crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. My 3 year old daughter had the shrimp tempura roll, and she ate all of it! I would honestly consider giving her raw sushi from here but never from Walmart. We both loved the presentation and quality of the food. Chef Junichi's skills is truly impressive; dishes were comparable in quality to some of the upscale Japanese places which we are accustomed to going to in New York City but at a reasonable price. read more

I was really excited to see it on the menu. Also ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen. The ankimo never came, I guess the waiter forgot and I didn't bring it up because I was disappointed in the ramen. The broth wasn't as flavorful as I thought, tasted old and a bit watered down. One small piece of meat in the ramen.
