Food was excellent. Service was at best AVERAGE. This is my second time to Jim's Place Grill. First time was excellent all around. This time . .we had to ask for bread. Shouldn't it be automatically serviced without asking? Appetizer and entree were good. Ordered Key lime pie and 2 coffees. Pie came without coffee. Asked server Pheobe where is coffee? Brewing still. We finished our pie.Then 8 minutes later coffee arrives but with NO milk or cream. Pheobe says ok, I'll be right back. 5 minutes later she arrives with our check. Where's the cream?? Told her, take coffees off check as we dont want since service too slow. She left check and came back 5 minutes later . . .no new check. This is unacceptable service if your looking to be an A rated restaurant. I might give this place one more time. Hope management steps up and fixes the service issue. read more

I went there yesterday 4-19-21 and was severely disappointed, still confused as to why the host needed my phone number when she sat me immediately after collecting my info, then I sat at a bar with a total of 4 people (thanks Covid) yet for over ten minutes, was never even greeted by the bar tender, much less had any kind of order taken, I know I was there at around 5pm but, he had plenty of time to flirt with the servers. I was taken here for my birthday dinner and I'm glad I chose it. The restaurant itself is so inviting. It's beautifully decorated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had the calf liver (southern style) with onions, yukon gold mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. I was hesitant to get the liver. I love calf liver and being from the MS Delta, we know how to do liver lol and I wasn't sure this place would prepare it to my liking but they did. It was so delicious. I had dinner with my wife and daughter last night. Place was packed with people. Everyone was friendly and service was spot on. The star of the night was the dry aged new York steak, which was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning resulting in delicious and tender steak in each mouthful. This is the best steak ever. Also the steak was very large 22 or 25 oz, so I shared one with my wife. We also added shrimp and crab Oscar to the steak. Rosemary was prominent on the shrimp but not overpowering. Delicious. My daughter had broiled salmon. She is typically a picky eater, but she enjoyed the salmon very much. I was glad to see the wine list had good wine despite being short. Quality over quantity, like their food menu. Also the wine price was good. We had a bottle of Silver Oak, which was decanted while we enjoyed the calamari appetizer. This gave the wine time to breath for our main course. Great wine for great steak. We finished off with chocolate cake and port. Excellent experience and well worth the other positive reviews. Kudos to the owner, chef, and wait staff. I will definitely be coming back for more. Only thing I would improve is the crispness of the fries. Little soft for my preference, but very flavorful. You can taste the fresh potatoes. This is the suburban cousin of a Memphis staple, Jims Place East. The ambiance and setting is very quaint. As far as food, think Greek with an American twist. We've been going to Jim's for years; starting in the 1970's at Jim's Place East. So many celebrations and events we chose to hold there. Yesterday was my birthday and I chose to go to Jim's. How disappointing was our service! Starting when the server came to the table; no introduction, no "I'm your server this evening" but rather, "Do you know what you want to drink yet?" Really? I was almost speechless! From that point, nothing improved related to service. We ordered cocktails and had just started to enjoy them when the server returned to ask if we were ready to order! We were rushed throughout the evening at every turn. We had just begun our appetizers and the server returned to again ask if we were ready to order! Unbelievable! We ordered wine to be served with dinner and mine wasn't served until my husband had to request for it to be brought to the table! Lastly, my husband ask for a recommendation for a "birthday dessert" and the server simply reviewed the desserts; no "happy birthday" or any such comment. We ordered the bread pudding dessert of the day and it was brought by another server, who quickly set it on the table, with an unlit candle, and hurriedly turned and left! My husband was not happy and informed our server that the candle was not even lit. She turned around, left, then returned and simply stated, "we took the dessert charge off your bill". I will end by saying our drinks and food was overall good (Manhattan, Grey Goose Martini, wine, phyllo puffs, filet, stuffed shrimp, baked potatoes) except that my Caesar salad was saturated with dressing and therefore, inedible. Obviously, this type evening is not what is typical at Jim's but this was my experience last evening, on my birthday. I can't get my evening and I hope the service we experienced is an aberration. My wife and I were completely disgusted by the time we left. We both truly wish we had seen the way they clean before we ate, we would have left before taking a single bite. I will begin this evaluation with the service. We waited for more than 15 minutes before we even got the opportunity to order our drinks. The slow service continued through our appetizers and dinner. The service was bad enough that our main course was cold by the time it arrived. The food left a lot to be desired. We started with the oyster appetizer. It was tasteless and they did a very poor job of cleaning the oysters. All of them were very gritty. My wife ordered the Chilean sea bass. The bass was cooked beautifully, but there was little to no seasoning to speak of. Furthermore, it appeared that the cook forgot the sauce that was to accompany the fish. The only positive we have is that the bread was very good. Finally, the cleanliness. While we waited for our check we watched the staff clean the table next to ours. They first placed the silver wear, plates and everything else that sets on the table onto two of the chairs. Then they cleaned the remaining chairs with the towel and then used the same towel to clean the table. Yes, the same towel that cleaned a chair where people SIT was used to clean the table. They then placed the silver wear, which was just on a chair where people sit, onto the table with the plates and everything else that was on the chair. Then they cleaned the remaining chairs with the same towel again. I personally was thoroughly disgusted at the thought that my table was cleaned with the same towel that just wiped up where someone's butt was. I started as a teenager working in a restaurant and would have immediately lost my food handlers card if I was to do this. I recommend you stay as far away from this place as possible. I am torn. I have gone to Jims Place for the last year and have always enjoyed a great meal. However, last nights experience was enough to make me never go back. My group of five went in on a Tuesday night and were told that it would take 15-20 minutes to be seated. An hour, three parties of four, and countless parties of two later, we were told it would another 20 minutes to be seated. After complaining to the manager, she reluctantly seated us. The hostess did not write down our arrival time and swore that we had only been there for no more than 30min. Interesting. Once seated, we placed our order and waited another hour for our food. Drink refills were sparse and several parties around us ordered and were served after our order had been taken. Speaking to the manager again, she did not apologize and made no effort to rectify the situation. After two hours, our group left without eating, without an apology, and never to return. It's too bad.. They have the best food in the area. I only wish the service matched. read more

Owned and operated by the same family that owns Jim's Place East, this is a more casual version of the original, but with the same great food and wonderful service. Everything on the menu here is fantastic. But I especially love the Stuffed Shrimp. It's served in a lemony butter sauce and stuffed with lump crab meat. It's very rich - you won't be able to eat anything else. I also am a big fan of their very Greek, very wonderful Moussaka. The spices in this dish are wonderful! They have a nice bar area, and a lot of professionals will stop in after work for happy hour. We had an early reservation on New Year's Eve. The reception hostesses were very distracted-not a welcoming first impression. The waitstaff were quick in attendance and attentive throughout the evening. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Grouper dish, as I did my grilled Norwegian Salmon. My Cabernet ( I just don't care for white wine, fish dish notwithstanding) was good. The sides were another story. I ordered grilled asparagus and Italian spinach. Both dishes were only marginally warm. The pre-entree bread was acceptable. The red velvet cake and vanilla ice cream (portion plenty large for sharing) was good, as was after-dinner coffee. The price of the meal ($100 including tax) was not totally out of line, but not a "value" by any stretch of the imagination. We probably won't return. read more

Went here on a suggestion and it didn't turn out to be too bad, pricey but not too bad. They didn't seem to have a large variety of selection to choose from land or turf so I went with the usual fillet. It came with Broccolini, something that I've never had before. Since the weather was so bad the place was empty...it surprised me when my food came out cold. I asked for my steak medium rare, got it rare. Besides that the steak was good. The waiter did bring me another, warm order of veggys too. There were three other tables in the place with guests, what was the cook, because it is apparent he/she isn't a chef, doing back there??? First thing is a nice setting, but even better if they would take a wall to the ceiling to block the bar noise and tv from the dining area. Nice menu but still too much of a bar atmosphere wight the open floor plan to the bar. The butternut squash soup was extremely good. Very smooth and rich with bread seasoning. Caesar salad ok but not worth the $2 extra without anchovy fillets on the side or fresh shaved cheese. Crab stuffed shrimp were a little over cooked but seasoning was wonderful as were the Mediterranean Brussel sprouts. Pecan crusted catfish was good but not cooked as firm as I like for catfish. Overall not bad but could use a little more detail to the ambiance and menu. Best side though was excellent service. Pastry for app was light and the cheese filled was very tasty. Ordered the salad with salmon but have to say the size was small must have been lunch portion. It was very flavorful and loved the apples and walnuts. Dressing was just right. Salmon cooked perfectly with a crust on the outside. My co worker had the calf liver and onion and was thrilled. Made reservations in the car and was seated upon walking in at a lovely table with unusually comfortable seats, not really sure why that struck me, but it did. My family of 4 ordered the phyllo rolls and fried cheese app the Greek name of which I cant recall, both were delicious. The dinner rolls are so soft and slightly sweet, just perfect, as were my steak, my daughter's crab cakes and son's burger. My husband didn't adore his chicken, but said it was fine. We just had the most amazing meal. We ordered curbside dinner. We had the family meal of shrimp with rice and a salad. The portions were very generous and could easily feed 4-6 people.
