Held a business dinner here tonight and everyone was very complimentary of the food and ambience. Service was great too. Jim's Place never disappoints.

Haven't been here in quite some time. I wanted a steak, we were going somewhere else, but saw the this, and changed it up. Obviously no reservation, but we only waited two minutes for a quiet table in a back dinning room. Bottom line, my petite filet totally hit the spot. It was cooked perfectly and very tasty. I had the house salad with the house dressing and mashed potatoes as my sides. The wife had a strip and said it was very good. A great spur of the moment dinner.

Ventured out to Collierville Tuesday for my retired teacher club. 13 of us dined in for lunch. We also had a gift exchange as we waited for our food. Service was awesome from the onset of planning this luncheon. Jay and Kristy were so patient as our reservation and numbers kept fluctuating. They were so nice to adjust as we went along. Chris and Drew were our waiters. They were super busy but took good care of all of us. The decor of the restaurant is so stylish and cozy. It is quite large with different areas for private dining. Everyone was so nice and kind. I ordered the club sandwich which was massive! I ended up taking half of it home because I ordered calamari for the table. The club came with a choice of sides. I got spinach which was light and seasoned well. The calamari was excellent. The remoulade sauce was spicy and complemented the squid very well. There were also fried green tomatoes with the dish. The calamari was fried to perfection and overall so delicious. I forgot to take a oic of the calamari. Oops! I will definitely return to try other entrees and dishes.

    Screen blocking the fire exit.

It was mostly fine. The oysters were good but gumbo was cold. The biggest thing is that they had the fire exit blocked with a screen that is a violation of the fire code.

I also appreciated the broken arms on the chairs, and the random half booth and table. The bar felt like a Mexican restaurant. When we arrived, they were out of pizza, then maintenance had to fix our lane several times because the bowling balls got stuck and the screens froze up. While they do have the essentials for a bowling alley, the alley in its entirety could definitely use some cleaning (the restrooms were filthy) and renovations.

I went in with my food critics hat on and was open about the fact that I was evaluating the restaurant. The server, who was also the bartender, Miguel, was over the top friendly. He guaranteed that the food would be better than I hoped and authentic. He explained that the owners were from Metarie, Louisiana and that they brought the flavor with them. I ordered country fried steak with brown gravy, fried okra and steamed broccoli with extra butter. I asked for a cup of the jambalaya as an appetizer for good measure. First the jambalaya was some of the best I have ever had. It was flavorful, fragrant, hot and the rice was perfectly cooked. Not to be taken lightly is the phrase "best I ever had". I have traveled and it's not just the best in this area, but better than that I have had in all of my travels to Louisiana and the gulf states. The okra was seasoned perfectly, hot and tasted fresh not frozen. Another score. The broccoli looked like it might have been the loser on the table as I didn't see the extra butter I requested, but I tried it. The butter was all over it already and it was very very well seasoned. I was shocked. Actually shocked. Do you know how many restaurants get this wrong? Far far more than get it right. And it was right. The country fried steak was also no slouch. The breading was crunchy, seasoned and not over or under cooked. The gravy was able to accompany the dish without making it soggy and the item did not come to my table dripping with pan grease. Yet another win. I met the owner on my way out and complimented her restaurant's service and food. I will definitely be back and will recommend the place to all who ask. Great job and hats off to you.

We arrived at 4:15 PM and were the only table in the restaurant, yet service was unbelievably slow from the start. It took over ten minutes just to receive drinks. Shortly after, another table was seated and the server suddenly spent a remarkable time at that table (roughly ten minutes?) and then she took their order first. After waiting about 30 minutes, our food finally arrived and it was completely unacceptable. Everything was cold, greasy, and nothing about it resembled authentic Cajun cuisine. The crawfish tails were clearly microwaved and served on a bland bed of rice. The children's mac and cheese was especially bad--dry, unappetizing, and obviously had been sitting under a heat lamp for far too long. My boyfriend had his dish to the side, untouched and was trying to get anyone's attention to come by. The server did not return for another 15 minutes to check on the food. To make matters worse, when we asked to speak with a manager/owner, they refused to come to the table. Instead, we were told, "The manager said to just remove it from your bill." That level of disregard for customers is incredibly unprofessional and disappointing. I honestly don't understand how they expect to stay open. A service industry business that you refuse to treat seriously? Ridiculous. The service throughout the entire visit was just as poor. Our server was rude, inattentive, and spent most of the time avoiding tables, either hiding behind the kitchen door or standing at the server station. We ultimately had to get up ourselves just to pay. Overall, the experience was frustrating from beginning to end. Between the poor service, low-quality food, and lack of management accountability, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If I could give it zero stars I would.

The days where restaurants were grateful to have you as patron & treated you that way to earn your continued patronage, seem to be part of the good ole days gone by. That is not the case with The Skybox Grill. I went once on a weekday & once on a hopping Friday night. Both times I left full & happy. If you're into that "Cheers" feeling, this is your place. The staff is so welcoming & kind. You feel good being there with the lively atmosphere & great people all around & the delicious food puts it a step above the rest. On the weekday lunch visit, I saw moms & kids, families, business men/women, folks at the bar glued to the game & those sitting by theirselves with their newspaper as their companion. All appeared to be welcome & content. The prices are comparable with others, but the quality & consistency of their food is much better. The portions are large enough to share or take home leftovers for another meal. The fresh made food is so yummy & getting fresh, quality food for the same as you'd spend at a fast food joint these days, makes it the perfect spot to have a great meal or grab to go that's a cut above the rest. Often, they host fundraising events in support of the local communities or have fun bands & always there is more than 15 tvs with all the sports going. I saw them on a Monday but noticed they weren't open until Friday. When Friday came, I made sure to check them out. After going back and forth in my head, I decided to go with the fried salmon sandwich with fries and a piece of catfish on the side. I also ordered a freshly squeezed lemonade. When looking at the menu prices, I felt they were standard. When I got my food, I was a bit disappointed with what I received. For $6, I expected the catfish to be a whole filet. I've seen photos of catfish plates where customers received a whole filet, so that's what I was expecting. It appeared that my filet had been cut in half lengthwise, so the portion was much smaller than I expected. Flavor-wise, it was just okay. When it comes to the salmon sandwich and fries, they were both very bland. The fries had no salt or pepper whatsoever. The salmon wasn't much better. I could visually tell that pepper had been added to the batter, but the fish itself hadn't been seasoned. Aside from the pepper, I'm not sure the batter was seasoned either. Additionally, the sandwich didn't come with any toppings or condiments, so it was very dry. I did ask for tartar sauce and ketchup packets, but I only received two tartar sauce packets, which wasn't nearly enough for both the sandwich and the catfish filet. I felt that the salmon was fried perfectly, and I did enjoy the crunch, but for $13.50 I expected it to at least come with some lettuce or pickles--or at least the option to add them. I'm not sure if the lemonade was freshly squeezed or not, but I didn't notice any seeds or pulp that would indicate it was. It tasted good, though, so no complaints there. If I were to try them again, I'd get the salmon grilled instead of fried, and I'd probably try the whole catfish instead of the filets. The food wasn't bad--just underwhelming. The customer service was good, but I do wish they were open during the week. I really wanted to like the food here, but this visit just didn't live up to my expectations
