Finally made it to Jin's Korean BBQ. I wish I had discovered this place a long time ago. Wasn't sure what to order so I asked. She suggested the fried chicken plate . Ordered a mini Yangnyeom chicken plate (comes with 2 sides) and a regular Honey, Soy, garlic chicken platter (comes with 4 side) First thing I noticed was how big the plates looked. My sides I ordered were kimchi, cucumber kimchi, seaweed salad and I asked her to surprise me on the 4th one. She game me the radish salad. Both fried chicken plate were excellent! So crisp and crouch the chicken skin was delicious. Inside it was so juicy. They use chicken thighs and I'm a fan. Fried chicken thighs 5/5 so delicious! Sides Kimchi 5/5 Cucumber kimchi 4/5 Radish salad 5/5 Seaweed salad 3.5/5 I wanna go back and try the garlic shrimp, kabli, and the spicy pork! Can't wait. To all my Hawaii people, if you know, Yummy from back home and you've been to hippo grill, this place is even better. The restaurant is small. They have a few dining tables to the side and they don't have any fountain drinks only can soda. When you walk in the front counter has all of your side options that you can choose from and believe me they have a lot. I chose to get the aloha plate which it comes with four sides.. I got the shoyu potato, Mac salad, bean sprouts, and potato salad. These are all great choices. Super tasty. As you can see in the picture of the plate is massive you better come hungry. The two choices I went with was the meet Jun and they let me substitute it for the honey chicken. The chicken is fried super crispy and inside was juicy and moist wow. The meat Jun is cooked perfect the only downside is they give you a small cup for the sauce and it's not enough not even close. I asked for extra sauce but they charge you $.25 per cup oh well. The other plate is kalbi and meat jun. Service is fast. Food is amazing. Lots of rice on the bottom of the plate so I really enjoyed everything here. Came here with my husband for a late lunch and there were only a few other customers in the restaurant. Parking is plentiful and the restaurant is nice and clean and bright. There are only a few small tables with a total of fourteen seats. The two of us shared an Aloha Plate with Original Fried Chicken, Spicy Pork, and four sides (Tofu, Edamame, Corn Salad, and Japchae), and a Mini Bulgogi Plate with two sides (Macaroni Salad and Japchae). There were plenty of side dish choices to choose from, I think I counted fourteen! The plates also came with steamed rice. There seemed to be only one lady in the store, she was up front and also cooking in the kitchen. She said it would take 15 minutes for the food and it took exactly that. She was friendly and efficient. The fried chicken (two pieces of bone-in thighs) and spicy pork were excellent. The chicken was crispy on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. The pork was perfectly seasoned. The Beef Bulgogi was not very tender, but the taste was quite good. The side dishes were all decent, Japchae was my favorite. The honey soy garlic shrimp rocked my world. Crispy, tender, sweet, salty, and fried to glossy perfection. Each shrimp had that sticky, caramelized finish I adore. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the sides were delicious. I went with shoyu potatoes (soy-simmered, slightly sweet & salty) and japchae (stir-fried glass noodles). It was a starch-on-starch kind of night. I did wait about 25 mins, maybe that's standard here? But the food was worth it. One small suggestion: clear containers for the side options would be amazing. We weren't sure what to expect when we decided to visit Jin's Korean BBQ. But it was definitely worth a try, and our visit was quite pleasant. The staff are super helpful, and informative. I was curious about the Hawaiian drink that they offered but were out of at that time, but the person at the register was nice enough to show me on her phone the flavors that they usually have. The food was very flavorful, aside from the Pork Bulgogi. Bae was using the Elite testing options as she was chosen for the visit while I ordered whatever I wanted. She got the Pork Bulgogi and I tried it and it didn't have much flavor. Maybe it was the piece I got but I was very happy with the fried chicken that I got and the Mandoo. Both were extremely well cooked and seasoned, came out piping hot, and were very juicy. The chicken even held up to be good enough to eat the next day, as well as the Mandoo. Bae liked the Cucumber Kimchi, macaroni salad, and Japanae noodles. When you walk in it is just your typical strip mall restaurant, not really much ambiance to speak of. There is a hallway of seating but I believe most orders are pickup as the cashier kept expressing how everything is better if you're picking up to order ahead or if you have a specific order in mind or already know what you want they'll have it ready or something. The chairs are very basic metal seats, definitely not meant for anyone with back issues. There were a few pictures on the wall, and I did not see the bathroom. Amazingggg food!! Jennie, the cashier, was super sweet and so fun to chat with. She gave great recommendations and really knew the menu well. We tried the garlic butter shrimp and the honey garlic soy chicken--both were incredible! The flavors were bold, the crispiness was perfect, and honestly the honey garlic chicken was better than other Korean fried chicken places I've tried, including Bonchon and k.bbq. The garlic shrimp was perfectly crispy and not overly battered at all. I love all the garlic flavor! For sides, we got the japchae, kimchi, potato salad, and fish cake. The potato salad was interesting because it was big chunks of potato and tasted like it's mixed with kewpie mayo. Everything was fresh and delicious. Great Mom & Pop locally owned Korean/Hawaiian Fusion restaurant. Service was very friendly. Small eating area so plan accordingly in case there are no seats/tables. Worst case, enjoy in the parking lot and grab a scoop of Hansel's after (same parking lot, 3 min walk). They were kind enough to switch my initial order from the fried chicken to the BBQ chicken after my initial order. Food tasted great and the free "mini" plate was gigantic! My husband and I have been wanting to try Jin's Korean BBQ since we moved into the neighborhood and we finally got a chance to go there for lunch. We both love Korean food and my husband lived in Korea for 2 years. We both loved our dishes we order. I got the mini, sweet and spicy shrimp, with edamame and cucumber kimchi. Excellent! My husband got the regular Bulgogi, with the kimchi and also the cucumber kimchi. He enjoyed his dish as well. The portions were so large, we had enough for dinner too. Stacey, the manager, was very attentive and made sure we were okay and enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was small, but very nicely decorated and clean. Everything was so tasty and I love how they really fill that box up. It was pretty pricey for the mix box, but it fed two people very easily, so it was well worth it! For to-go orders, they use a standard styrofoam, 3-compartment, clamshell box - same as you would see at a Panda Express. However, this is the first time I have ever seen a restaurant need to use a rubber band to keep the box closed for transit. They cram that much food into the container! Wife and I shared the Aloha Plate, which is two proteins and four sides. We chose the kalbi and flavored fried chicken, using the yangnyeom flavor. The kalbi was marinated well, cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The fried chicken was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! This is a SoCal reference, but imagine Shakey's famous fried chicken, that crispy outside with juicy, never dry chicken on the inside....then slathering that with yangnyeom sauce....that is what this chicken was like. I think adding some mojo potatoes would have been the only thing that could make it better. The sides were very good. We chose kimchi, kimchi cucumbers, bean sprouts and macaroni salad. We were they a little later in the evening and they ran out of some of the sides for customers that arrived after us. It sounds disappointing, but the reality is that it tells me that they do prepare the food freshly there. Speaking of freshly prepared, the order took about 20-minutes to prepare. Sounds like a long wait for fast food, but it was worth it. The food came out steaming hot. Again a sign that food is being cooked when ordered, not prepared beforehand. The location itself is a little small with limited seating. But it was clean and well kept and the staff was super inviting and friendly. Original fried chicken (8/10): Perfectly cooked; great crisp, tender, and super juicy. Slightly under salted and there was a weird seasoning mixed in that I couldn't quite figure out. It was very subtle but still weird. So close to perfection. Spicy pork (9/10): Very good. Perfectly seasoned. Perfectly cooked. Slight heat. Strong smoky/grilled flavor. Like charcoal or wok hei? But slightly too much of that flavor. Otherwise, it would seriously be a 10/10. Cucumber kimchi (8/10), kimchi (7/10), mac salad (7/10), bean sprouts (7/10). This is apparently a new location opened deep in the west (Trop and Hualapai in a Smith's shopping center that also has a Handels... oh these two are the perfect casual dinner date). Saw this on IG and thought I had to try it out. It's pretty much the same concept as Hippo, but they have a few more protein choices here. My first visit I had the bulgogi pork with a variety of sides - the kimchi cucumbers were the best, but we also really thought the japchae tasted really good. When I was waiting for my food (yes, there's a wait, if you walk in), another table got their food and I saw this mound of fried deliciousness and had to ask what I was looking at. It was their fried chicken... and it's 3 big thigh pieces per regular plate order. I had to go back the next day and get some. If you prefer your chicken bone in which you can't get everywhere, you're going to want this! They do it plain (which is delicious) or with a soy/garlic sauce or yamyeong sauce (also delicious.. not crazy spicy, just a little tingle). Thighs always stay moister and with their korean fry batter coating.. this held the flavors so well. Soy garlic is next! Still getting through all the banchan choices to see what I like best.. in addition to what was mentioned earlier, their seaweed salad, radish salad, and soy potatoes are also tasty bites. The staff there are also really friendly. If you're taking to go, they're going to make sure you know how to give your food the best chance of keeping it fresh at home. You can eat there, but it's just a few small tables and don't expect linens on the tables, but it'll be the freshest you can get! They have great options for banchan sides including kimchi, cucumber kimchi, radish salad, pickled radish & onion, bean sprout, tofu, edamame, seaweed salad, broccoli, potato salad, macaroni salad, corn salad, shoyo potato, fish cake, and japchae. It's tucked between Cane's and Taj Palace Indian Restaurant, and if you blink, you might miss it, but you absolutely shouldn't. The menu is small but delicious. I usually order a regular plate, which comes with your choice of protein, rice, and four sides for under $20. The portions are HUGE. One plate is easily enough for two meals, sometimes with leftovers beyond that. My go-to is the beef bulgogi which is consistently flavorful and tender. For sides, I almost always get cucumbers and japchae (when it's available). Pro tip: go earlier in the day if you want japchae. It's so good that it often sells out before early evening. I'll also rotate in the bean sprouts and macaroni salad, which are both solid choices. They have a few sauces, and I highly recommend both the red sauce and the regular dipping sauce. One of my favorite little personal twists: there's a sweeter, thinner soy sauce (not sticky) that comes with one of the potato salads, and I love adding that to the macaroni salad. It totally transforms it and gives it a whole new depth of flavor. Affordable, generous portions, consistently delicious, and clearly made with care. Was recommended this place by a coworker of mine as I've been wanting meat Jun. I really liked their options for sides and will need to go back to try the others. We ordered one regular meat Jun with 4 sides and the honey soy garlic chicken. Portions for both of these were generous as we had left over for the next two days. Meat Jun was lightly battered and the meat was real tender. The meat wasnt super thinly sliced like others I've tried and I honestly prefer this cut. I thought the soy garlic chicken were going to be wings but I sure was wrong. The way they butterflied the chicken thigh was great to deep fry it was perfection. I was so super impressed with Jin's. The restaurant is about 5-7 minutes from my house and my husband and I decided to check it out. We quickly ordered and had to wait about 20 minutes for the food and well worth it. It was cooked fresh and was so tasty. All the banchan(sides) were all mildly seasoned, authentic Korean style, just like my recent visit to Korea. The Kim chee was more "sour" style to me instead of the americanized hot and salty. This food takes me back to Hawaii (Yummy's Bbq). The meat Juns delicious. The kalbi is delicious and all the banchan is delicious. The photos speak for themselves. I highly recommend their garlic salt chicken. I wasn't expecting anything from it. I was skeptical, but because I heard only good things about it I had to try it. I'm glad I did! Quick and friendly service! Ordered the Aloha Plate and was able to swap out the rice for another side. Yangnyeom chicken (4/5) - Drumstick had dry meat but the larger chunks were juicy! Love the crispy and how saucy it was. Kalbi (5/5) - flavorful, juicy, and delicious! Definitely recommend the Japchae, pickled onions, and seaweed sides! Japchae was seasoned well. Pickled onions were a good cut to the oiliness of the other items - it has jalapeño so be wary of spice! Seaweed side was nice and pickled. It could've been chopped up a bit so you're not eating huge chunks, but I enjoyed it. The potato salad and the bean sprouts weren't my jam. Potato salad was grainy while the bean sprouts didn't have much flavor. Overall definitely coming back! Parking was also super easy. Saw someone post about this place on Instagram. We're visiting from Los Angeles, and decided to make this our last meal of the trip. The food is sooooo good. Fried chicken is amazing and their Aloha plates are huge. Best of both worlds, Korean comfort food and Hawaiian mix plate.
