Ordered carry out from Jin's China for the first time after moving to Winfield. Thought why not give it a shot, most of the reviews said it was good. You will not find more bang for your buck for Chinese in the area! Portion sizes are huge and prices are ridiculously low. This is not gourmet cuisine folks! It is Americanized Chinese food that fills you up, is served by nice people and in a clean establishment. i can make 3 meals from one order of large fried rice. I can also make a pig of myself with their potstickers and egg rolls. Do not go here if you are drunk or nursing a hangover because you will put on 10 lbs and spend less than 10 bucks! This place is small. It has a couple tables for sitting and eating. You order and pay at the counter. The food is good. They do great pot stickers and the fried rice is awesome. Other dishes are good though occasionally they load up on the sauce in a dish. Overall double thumbs up. read more

I grew up in NYC and one of the things I really miss (besides the pizza of course) is good, cheap, greasy Chinese take-out. For years, I have lamented the lack of such a place in the Western 'burbs. The few places I tried in Lombard, Glen Ellyn, and Wheaton were very disappointing to say the least. Jin's China is a very non-descript store in a tiny strip mall. I must have driven past it a dozen times. It was only through Yelp! that I decided to give it a try and whilst it certainly can't rival the NYC joints, it's the best local Chinese food. They have a $3.50 lunch special from 11:30-2:00 PM on the weekdays which can't be beat! And one of the options is their famous Sweet and Sour Chicken (which uses big strips of chicken breast). Both of my children love that! And you should pay the $1 for their egg roll as it is really good and fresh tasting. My "test" for a good Chinese take-out is their fried rice and Jin's China passes my test. I have tried both their Shrimp and Special fried rice. The shrimp are large and plentiful - none of that tiny, dried up shrimp some places use -yuk! The Special fried rice has pork, chicken, and shrimp but I personally prefer the Shrimp fried rice for its "pure" flavor. They also seem to sell a TON of sesame chicken which we will have to try in the near future. But my absolute favorite item so far is their POTSTICKERS. They are unbelievable ! Note: it takes 20 minutes as they are handmade so call ahead. And even if you don't call ahead, trust me, they are worth the wait. Plump, meaty parcels of pork heaven. Be careful with your first bite though as they will come out steaming HOT!. Okay, I'm making myself hungry right now just thinking about them. I am SO glad I find this place as it is inexpensive, delicious, and service is FAST! I try not to call ahead more than 5 mins before ETA as they are super-fast. And the people there are very friendly. One of the cooks always hands my kids extra fortune cookies when we are there, and the woman (owner) is always friendly and efficient. This place is my go-to Chinese food restaurant. They have fast and easy carry out which is what I would mostly recommend. There isn't much to the actual restaurant. There are a few tables and chairs but it is very basic. People go for the food- not the ambiance. My family's order is usually the large cashew chicken and the large sweet and sour chicken. That feeds a family of 4 for dinner with leftovers. Also, free rice with the purchase of a meal! Jin's recently got new owners/management and I was a little skeptical but the food is even better than before! A lot of people in the neighborhood were saying that the new food sucks but I highly disagree. People tend to be scared of change and new things and that's not fair to new management. The truth is that the old Jin's was going down hill and needed help... the new Jin's is delicious and better than before! They have super fresh meat and veggies in every dish and generous portions! CAN I HAVE MY MONEY BACK?!. PLEASE?. This place was awful when it comes to take out ordering. Although the service was fast, somewhat friendly, and the order was right. The place was mainly for take out orders with only two sitting tables. The bad news is I had the combination fried rice and it was dry and tasteless. The rice wasn't even decent. I had to use 3-4 packets of soy sauce on the food and my 3 yr old even said it was disgusting.(trust me he knows) I am a average weight woman and half of the large container didn't make me full. last of all the shrimp was big and the take out container was a black bowl with the clear top instead of the white cardboard container; couldn't tell you the size of the container. I wish this place were a little closer - decent Chinese food is hard to find. Parents had the kung pao chicken, and I had the chicken and broccoli. Note that the small portions are about half rice - so it's worth a little extra money to get the larger portion if you're going to skip the rice. The flip side is that the small soups are HUGE - one can serve 2-3 people easily. This place is in a strip mall - there's some seating (more than you'd expect) but don't expect a fancy atmosphere. i was immediately impressed with how clean they are but my meal was average. I had lunch special Chicken with vegetable and that was fine, nothing spectacular but it didn't make me gag either. I also ordered won ton soup. I think the won tons must had been sitting out cause they were kind of hard at the creases but had decent flavor. The egg roll however for me was very disappointing. The wrapper was that paper thin wrap usually used for Thai spring rolls. It tasted basically like fried cabbage. I am used to the traditional egg rolls where the wrap is very cruchy, have a medley of flavors inside with a slight peanuty taste. I definitely won't order that again. Yuk !!! I might give them a try one more time just because my entree was not terrible and there seems to be very few good Chinese food options around here. I have been trying to find a good Chinese food place since Chins in Glen Ellyn closed, tonight I learned that this is not my new place. The staff is very rude. And the food was nothing to write home about. I ordered the chicken fried rice and found it to be unsatisfactory: the chicken was squishy and the overall taste was very salty. Just moved into the neighborhood and was glad there was a widely reviewed Chinese place right on the corner with mostly positive feedback. Gave it a shot and all I can say is that it was the most disappointing meal in my life. The sesame chicken had inconsistent texture and was in a sauce that was very similiar to something you would throw cocktail weiners in. The Mongolian beef was unidentifiable as actual meat and had a strange taste I couldn't pinpoint. The fried rice was very dry but more edible than anything I ordered. The potstickers were burnt on the bottom and smelled weird and the eggrolls were dry and more like fried spring rolls. Listen up boys. Me and my friends go to Jin's China about every other week for the lunch special. Now I'm gonna be honest, it's never been known to have the greatest food or anything, but the lunch special is really cheap and you get a ton of food for it. Anyway, just a typical Wednesday and me and my friends headed out there and from the get-go we noticed something was up. We didn't recognize any of the employees and there was just a different vibe. Anyway we order and the guy I'm giving my order to is on the phone and keeps talking right through my order. Me and my friends then sit down and wait for our food. In the kitchen we can tell the workers are unorganized. Pots and pans are clanking and falling, workers are confused, and the one dude is still talking on the phone to God knows who. Anyway, once we get our food (which takes longer than usual), disappointment is not even near the description for the emotion I felt. First off, all our orders were wrong. Though nobody ordered an egg roll we all got one (which greatly cut in to the amount of rice normally received). Also my friend who ordered white rice got fried rice, which was a major L for him. Also the typical heaping pile of chicken was greatly reduced in size making the meal, as a whole, unsatisfactory. Later my friend called Jin's China and asked if they were under new management and they said they were. The old Jin's would have easily breached 4.5 stars however this new Jin's struggles to reach two. Thank you. read more

I am sad to say but as of May 1, 2019 Jin's China has been sold. I went to Jin's to eat lunch yesterday and my friends and I had a horrible experience with the new management. I didn't find it a coincidence that all 3 of our orders were wrong and as we were ordering the employee was on a personal phone call with someone on his earbuds. The lunch special is no longer a deal and a half. This new lunch special is a disgrace to what the lunch special once was. I got half the rice, 3/4 the chicken, and I randomly had an unwanted egg roll on my plate. Ridiculous. My friend had the same as I except he had 1/2 of the wrong rice! Later last night I told my friends that Jin's is under new management so they decided to take out. In the good old days it would be a 10 min wait. Now under this new management which has only been running this company for 2 days has managed to double that wait time to 20 min! All it takes is one terrible experience to make me never want to return! The food was always pretty good, until one day when I ordered General Tso's Chicken. The chicken was not fresh at all, to say the least. It tasted like I was eating Chicken that had sat out for the entire day that they decided to re-fry. When I called in to let them know that this was the first time I had a bad experience, the lady over the phone was very unprofessional, she told me that she had over 200 customers and that I was the only one to complain. Went to my favorite place to get some dinner. Right off the bat, I noticed big changes. The man in the kitchen who always waves at me and knows exactly what I order isn't in the kitchen nor are there any other familiar faces who greet me by name. The prices went up a ton as well. Plus, a giant green tip jar on the counter? Pretty disappointed and wonder what is going on. I order my usual order (Mongolian chicken) and take it home. I take out my order and notice the change immediately. The entire meal is just, pale. No color whatsoever. Hardly any sauce, tons of onions and chicken tho so I held out hope for flavor. And the rice portion is in a noticeably smaller container. I was disappointed even further when I tasted. The rice had a weird texture and there was zero flavor. So sadly, what used to be my favorite place to go for Chinese food is no longer. If my order was void of any flavor, I can only imagine what the rest of the food must taste like. We moved to the area 2 years ago and my wife asked our realtor where is a good Chinese place... immediately she said Jins! It's mainly for takeout, but there are a few tables inside. I swear every time we order it's ready in 10 minutes! There is a window inside so you can see the cooks in the back and observe how the food is handled. We love their green beans, veggie fried rice, lo mein and their general tos chicken. Their egg rolls are more like spring rolls, thin and flakey - not my preference but like everything here they are fresh. One of the cooks is awesome. He always is so polite and says hi from behind the window. One of the ladies working isn't the friendliest. I think she knows regardless if she says hi or not her food is good so we will be back. It's quality Chinese takeout for super cheap. The owners are incredibly sweet, the chicken fried rice is delicious and the egg rolls are actually stuffed with veggies rather than being mostly hollow like a lot of other egg rolls.
