I've come here about 8 times over the past two years. They are inconsistent--sometimes they are messy and other times more precise. The nail polish is old and should be replaced more frequently. It's not worth the money or time--you never know which quality of manicure or pedicure you will receive. I agree with previous reviewer--sometimes the manager's rudeness is shocking and makes the tiny shop very uncomfortable. Overpriced. And, as the previous review stated, there are cockroaches crawling around near your feet! read more

A friend took me here to get gel nail art for my wedding. Having been there before and knowing the reputation I had no doubts. I was wrong. I showed the technician a gradient french manicure which seemed simple enough and she couldn't figure out how to do it. She showed other technicians and they talked in another language and I assumed they figured it out. What I got on one nail before I stopped her was clear polish with a thick white line- not at all what I showed her. When I asked for advice or recommendations she (and all other technicians) just seemed dumbfounded. If it couldn't be done with gel, I shouldve been told from the get go, as my friend was dropping some decent money on this for me. Instead of trying to guide or help my technician actually asked if I wanted to "try another store" since she couldn't do whAt I wanted. I thought I was dealing with experts but felt like I had walked into any hole in the wall nail place off the street. I decided to go with a solid and it looked completely unlike what I thought (as there are no plastic gel examples for clients to look at) so I asked for a different color. The technician seemed very irritated at that point (probably because I was taking time away from making other tips) and clicked her tongue and muttered. I finally got a plain color that works but was not what I had in mind at all. More than anything I was disappointed. In general, the attitude my friends and. I felt from the staff was completely subpar, especially for a high end "hand and foot spa." I am not a difficult customer but thought for my wedding I could be slightly particular. Wandered in here for a pedicure after reading the Yelp reviews. Tiny but charming shop and the ladies gave me great personal attention. I'm not in this neighborhood often, but I might make a point of coming down the next time I need a pedicure. It's a refreshing change from the assembly line nail salons. read more

Clean, small place. 30 min pedicure and 30 mins to dry. The technicians are ok - good value for money.

It's expensive, so you expect something amazing, and it just isn't GREAT. If you're in a rush and they have a spot, then go for it. But if you're making an appointment, I wouldn't go here. Nail art is not great, not great variety of colors or expertise. No pets allowed. read more

I am from San Francisco and had read a review of the nail products in a magazine and wanted to try a manicure to see how long lasting they were. So I made an appt - woman was a bit brusque and ill informed. I asked if it was true that the JinSoon line of polishes was longer lasting than other regular polishes and she said she didn't know. I asked the difference between the JinSoon long lasting regular polish and a shellac manicure and she said she didn't know. I called two different jinSoon salons and asked the same questions and received the same answers "I don't know." I made an appt for a regular mani/pedi anyway. I then called back to let them know that I had a gel manicure/pedicure right now as I wanted them to allow time to remove that polish. The receptionist asked what kind and I said, "I think it's gelish". She said they didn't work with that kind of polish, not even to remove it, so that I could not have the appt. I said I was fine sitting and soaking for a while (I have removed every three weeks in SF no problem without filing) and she said that no, they don't remove that polish because they have to file your nail beds too much and I said I didn't want any filing of the nail beds, just soaking. And she said nope. So I canceled. I think personally as a business owner myself, it is ridiculous for a receptionist who answers the phones to (1) not know the benefits of your product and (2) not be up-to-speed on the latest and greatest -- no filing of nail beds -- in your industry. read more

I came here yesterday for a manicure just on a whim. I had seen their website and thought the nail art options were cool. I didn't make an appt but stopped by anyway because I figured it wouldn't be too crowded on Christmas Eve early afternoon. I was right--it was just 2 other customers, and one was finished. The people were very nice and helpful when I was trying to decide which design I wanted. Unfortunately none of them could do the design I wanted, which is odd because why have a book of options if you can't actually do some of them? Other than that, it was the best mani experience I've had so far in terms of attention to detail, environment and polish options. The free tea is also a nice touch. The tiny space is clean and relaxing. The prices are too high for it to be my regular spot, but it's certainly worth going every now and then for a change from the regular cookie-cutter nail shops. read more

ok yeah, chipping commenced within 3 days. and i keep my nails SHORT. i could feel the topcoat had worn off by day 5. i put another coat on myself to keep it from chipping any faster. major quality fail. read more

Impeccable job! First off, I was late because I went to their SoHo location instead of their West Village one... a whopping 30 minutes late. When I arrived, I was partially ready to eat the cost of one of the services (mani and pedi) -- but no! I received ^^--ZERO--^^ snark, the lovely lady just asked me to come to the back to start the pedi then surprisingly had the mani afterward. She was very friendly throughout and did a stellar job. I mean, my hands are beat up -- I'm a rock climber. She made my hands feel presentable because the detail to cuticle care and polish was the best I've ever had. I've lived in NY for 16 years, and this is honestly the best manicure I've ever had at this price point... maybe even at a higher one too. Also, good vibes.. on my visit everyone was so nice to the staff and vice versa. It's annoying to watch crotchety clients get their claws done. Tip: a good manicure is easier to extend. First, it won't peel and second you can apply a nice coat of clear every few days and nightly nail oil to keep it from chipping. Take it from someone who abuses their nails. read more

i do not get manicures or pedicures, so i can not comment on those services here. but i have come here (east village location) for leg waxing for several years, and they are great for that. it is, as people say, a tiny place. however, i have never had any trouble getting an appointment at a time i wanted (i usually call a couple of days in advance) and have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes after arriving. the room where they do the leg waxing is a very small partitioned area, so while it is private enough, it is a bit crowded. however, once the procedure starts, i just read and relax while the technician works. every one of the women who has worked on me has been quite good -- thorough, neat and gentle. for a full leg wax, it can take a while, because as i say, they are very thorough. they are uniformly friendly when i arrive, but not chatty while they are working, which is fine with me. after the waxing, they clean one's legs with warm towels, and then apply lotion; some of them throw in a short but lovely leg massage as they do so. i just wanted to mention how helpful the girl who did my waxing yesterday was -- she really went the extra mile. i had ridden over on my bike, but when i went to lock it up outside, i found that i had forgotten to bring my bike lock key with me. i went in to tell them that i was going to have to ride back home, get my key, and return, and would thus be late for my appointment -- was that ok? the woman at the desk, who was also the one who did my legs, came out and suggested a different solution -- she helped me lock my bike to the fence in front of the entrance, using a chain and padlock that they had there. it was a bit of a clunky procedure, but she did it herself, waving me off when i tried to help, and she did it with a smile. that, of course, added to the tip i usually give. it really was very sweet of her, and it exemplifies the friendly, accommodating attitude i have always found here. read more
