    Tan Tan Men
    Nixon V.

Came here for lunch and ordered the Tan Tan Men ramen--honestly, it was really good. The broth was rich, creamy, and full of flavor, and I loved how it mixed with the ground meat. Super comforting and filling, especially for a midday meal. Heads up: it gets pretty packed during lunch, so there was a short wait. The space itself is small but nice, with bar seating, some counter seats by the kitchen, and a few tables. Totally worth the wait, and I'd definitely come back again.

Pros: -Quality ramen -Wasn't busy Sunday 11 am at opening -Friendly service -Demon Slayer event limited edition spoons (blind bag) -Ramen egg were good Cons: -Not best part of LA -Nearby parking costs money -Pork was mediocre -Pricier than similar ramen places

Their chicken ramen used to taste way better! The broth this time tasted more watered down. Though, noodle texture is still great--just the way I like it. Maybe it was an off day but was really hoping for a richer umami flavor! Service and ambiance was fine. It seemed like it was just one waitress for the entire restaurant so it did take awhile for the server to get our orders. FYI they have happy hour offers so be sure to check it out!

I got the JINYA Tonkatsu Black Ramen without the spicy chili. Pretty good, it's not too thick or oily, which is my ramen preference. Not in the photo but I also got the milkman, which I really enjoyed. The bun itself wasn't dry and the filling tasted wonderful. My mom really enjoyed her drink, she got one of the mocktails, can't find the drink them though, sorry! I got a lychee martini, which was pretty strong, but not the strongest I've had. One downside, they brought out the drinks pretty late into our meal. I felt like I finished most of meal and because the drink was so strong, I couldn't pair it with the meal as much. The restaurant itself is on the smaller size but it's not overly small to the point where there's no room. Plenty of seating, both regular tables and bar seating. Definitely would come back to eat again.

The ramen here is perfect. Broth is rich & flavorful. I always reach the bottom of the bowl. My usual is the grilled spicy chicken ramen--medium heat. The broth is flavorful without being overly spicy, chicken is grilled before being thrown in the soup--makes for a good texture contrast. Best part is the runny egg. The ramen has me coming here regularly!

We went to Jinya for the same reason others mentioned -- it is close to our hotel. It is a cute little place but way too bright at night for our taste. Put those lights on a dimmer! It was busy but we didn't have to wait for a table. Service was good but we were unimpressed with the ramen. We both had the tan tan ramen and found it lacking. The ground pork was not very good and it was so plain - needed an egg and veggies. I really can't recommend the place but if you're tired and it's right near your hotel it would probably do. But I'd look elsewhere if you want really good ramen.

I've experienced Jinya ramen when I was in Texas and I had a high expectation from my previous experience. We had two vegan ramen and those were so good!! One was spicy creamy vegan ramen and another one was red o' something ramen great flavor and delicious broth!! Keep up the good work! Cheers

In all my 33 years of life, I never knew Birria Ramen is a thing. Boy was I caught by surprise. I took my sister on a sister date, I ordered the Birria Ramen, she ordered chicken ramen and a crispy with spicy tuna (I think). My meal was ommmggfff, another one me please. I enjoyed every last scoop of broth. I'm sure my sister enjoyed hers too the way we scuff our meals Thank you staff for the patience you had, allowing her to order her meal. #autismawareness

crispy tuna rice, chicken ramen, and matcha were all bland... quite disappointing. service was okay. maybe their other items are better.

Sanae loved her Yuzu Shio delight We both enjoyed the crispy Brussels Our server, Melvin was nice My (pictured) vegan ramen was too spicy despite requesting no chili and no spice and confirming that it's possible. They took it back and I'm having the promotional vegan tapas instead. The gyoza and taco have whatever meat flavor they're "supposed" to taste like, which I am not a fan of, but the Brussels are literally perfect. I'm happy eating just that. We believe that they truly forgot to not put in the chili oil but the chef said it was the miso element and preferred that I try the first in the vegan list, so be careful I guess - or don't be alarmed. Let me know if you tried it and it was not spicy Music is not too loud which is refreshing! Bulb lighting is nice and warm but the overhead lights are too much in my opinion.

Best broccolini ever. Garlicy, warm, and perfect blend of crunch and soft. Must have.

5 stars, should be 10 stars. If this place was more affordable, id eat there two times a week. But, if it was less expensive, quality would prob go down so no need to change anything. I always get the Jinya chicken Ramen and its always super flavorful. Last time, I got the broccolini as an appetizer and I'll I can say is that ALL broccolini should be made this way. It was the best appetizer I've ever had. Service is great and place is extremely clean.

Jinya is the "reliable luxury" of ramen. It's where you go when you want a guaranteed good meal in a cool environment. It's a bit more expensive than your average ramen shop, but the depth of the menu and the atmosphere usually justify the price. It is worth of every penny. Employees are very friendly and nice.

Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen*, add chicken wontons! Best ramen in LA if you order the way I ordered!

The best Ramen in LA, if & ONLY if, you order the Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen and add chicken wontons. The best flavor for ramen 10/10

Ramen level 7! They don't joke about their spice level and it was delicious!

The chashu was disappointing: lean and chewy--more like steak found in pho than the tender pork I expected. The wait for a table was long in the hot sun during lunch. And it's still an inconvenient location to get to in terms of parking--little Tokyo is as busy as ever. We had to share a table with some other, really loud patrons. The air conditioning was broken. I got the fried rice, previously one of my favorite side dishes here, but the Yakimeshi rice was too dry and disappointing. I added garlic and soft boiled egg to my ramen. The garlic flakes were too big/strong and overpowered everything. The egg was good. Since the noodles and broth are the most important parts and were both decent, I'd keep this place at around four stars. But there are a lot of other ramen places to try in the area. Original from years ago: Overtook Daikokuya as my favorite ramen place. I love so much about the place except the wait. And the parking, which doesn't validate as long as it used to. But really, the wait is really terrible. I would eat here more often if the wait weren't such an issue.

To wash everything down, I ordered the Mega Sapporo, which arrived perfectly ice-cold and was incredibly refreshing. That said, it might actually be a better value to order the smaller glasses depending on the pricing. Service was probably the weakest part of the experience. Our server rarely checked on us throughout the meal, and I don't recall being asked if we needed anything after our food arrived. That's the mood that pulled me into Maruya in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. I ordered the chashu tonkotsu, the classic go-to when you want to judge a ramen shop by its bones. And the verdict? It was... fine. Not bad, not memorable -- just okay. The kind of bowl that doesn't offend you but doesn't linger in your memory either. No standout richness in the broth, no chashu slice that made me pause mid-bite. Just noodles, doing their job. This is actually the second ramen spot I've tried in Little Tokyo, and I'll admit -- I'm starting to feel a little underwhelmed by the neighborhood's ramen scene so far. For a pocket of the city with so much culinary history packed into a few blocks, I expected to be a bit more wowed by now. Two tries in, and I'm still searching for that bowl that stops me in my tracks. What did stand out, though, was the service. The staff at Maruya were genuinely warm and helpful -- attentive without hovering, quick to check in, the kind of hospitality that makes you want to root for the place even when the food doesn't quite deliver. It's the kind of detail that softens an otherwise middling meal. So, Little Tokyo ramen crawl: two down, verdict still out. The people have been great. The noodles? I'm still waiting to be impressed. This is a review only of their happy hour specifically, not of their ramen, which I have not tried…read moreand can't speak to the quality of. I actually became aware of the existence of this restaurant *because* they had a happy hour sign out in front, advertising, among other things, $4 salmon poke "tacos" (which was definitely actually a tostada, but still), and $3 nigori sake to go with it, which sounded pretty bomb - when I passed by the sign on my way to an event at Death & Co nearby, I took note of it but wasn't interested in food. However, when I left that event, an event I thought was going to provide a lot more food than it actually did, I absolutely *was* interested in food, and remembered that the sign advertised not only a traditional happy hour (open until 6 weekdays, 2:30-5:30 Saturday/Sunday), but also the same prices during a reverse happy hour (8 to close weekdays, 9 to close on the weekend). Given it was, at that moment, just after 8 on a Wednesday, I knew exactly where I was going to get the second half of my dinner from. Funny enough, I will say, the salmon poke that drew me in, was just... good. Don't get me wrong, if I were offered them for free, I'd eat at *least* a dozen. They were quite tasty - also like 2 bites worth of food (so eating a dozen of them would not be remotely difficult to do.) Salmon poke is wonderful, but if I wanted poke, I'd go find a poke place - even $4 felt a bit pricey for the size (they're $6 when it isn't happy hour), so I'm glad I decided to also try their karaage. Their karaage is BOMB - some of the best I've had, honestly. $7 for a 4-piece order of their karaage, by contrast, feels like a very reasonable price, and $5 (during happy hour) an absolute steal. Great karaage, great sauce, super fulfilling. The happy hour on karaage would be enough of a draw by itself - but separate from that, so would the $3 happy hour on sake, including both a regular house cold sake and a nigori. As you can see from the picture, they also intentionally overpour their sake, which is not only a very pretty presentation, but also an impressive amount of sake for $3 (heck, for DTLA, a pretty impressive amount of sake even at their normal $5 price). They also have $6 happy hour shochu/sake/juice cocktails that looked pretty good, though I didn't try one. Service was great, too - sometimes you can tell a restaurant is less excited to serve someone who clearly just came in for a drink and a snack, but that was not my experience here. Verdict is, I definitely want to come back and try their ramen sometime, but I would definitely make sure to do it either before or after their prime dinner hour, to take advantage of happy hour pricing. (And I would definitely get more of that karaage as a side. I will probably also make a point to do so as a snack, subsequent to any future events I go to in the area that end around 8 on a weekday, as well, for as long as that happy hour remains such a draw, price-wise.)

Food (3/5): Pretty ok ramen! You come to Tsujita Artisan Noodle in Arts District for the Tsukemen…read more Their tsukemen is creamy with deep umami flavor. Their noodles have a bounciness and chewiness that hold the broth you dip your noodles in. I do wish the broth was hotter because the noodles are traditionally served cold. I've come here for their Naruto collaboration and to try their traditional ramen where their noodles come with the broth and it tastes significantly different than their tsukemen which I didn't have a liking to. It was missing some oomph that not only differentiates this ramen from others I've tasted before but also gets people to keep coming. Service (5/5): Quick service! Every time I've been there hasn't been a wait. Price (4/5): To compensate for taste I do think the price needs to be lowered a bit. The tsukemen to me was definitely worth it. Ambiance (4/5): Cute little modern shop. It won't fit many big parties but it is perfect for duos.
