This place really isn't a "Restaurant" in the Denny's or Coco's mold. It's like a community center where you and your friends drop by to visit and eat some honest, tasty, good food. If they served liquor, we'd have to call it Cheer's! We walk in and our coffee, drinks and extra silverware that I prefer are coming out if not already there. ALL the staff is VERY friendly and honestly we feel like we're family. The sense of community here is awesome! When one of the regulars passed away, everyone gathered round his widow, consoling and comforting her. (BTW: It was NOT the food!) It also felt like a big hole was left where he sat. I have been here before and really had no issues till today, we got seated quick then ordered, then the disappointment began I noticed a lot of people did not have there food around us so we waited and waited 30 min go by, the table next to us got their food then the customer put in an order to go, so about 10 min later they bring the to go order before ours, then I asked the waitress where is our order and she stated "there is nothing up there" I was like ok can you please check, then she comes back and gives us the wrong order. I let her know, then she finally gives us our correct order and both plates are undercooked. Very disappointing, I told the Lady at the front, I think she is the owner and she was just like "ok" I used to like it here, now I will never go back. I am really sorry but I have no idea why this place has so many stars. It is all pre packaged, pre frozen, out of a can type of food. There is nothing special about it. The place is clean and service is nice but the food tastes like it came out of a cafeteria in high school. I got the fish sandwich with fries. I also added a salad. The salad was the normal, out of the bag, iceberg lettuce with a few strands of carrots and red cabbage. Small baby croutons and some dull looking beets. The ranch was good, just out of a jug. The fish sandwich came in a square...this is why I won't eat at Wendy's, there is nothing right with square food. The fish did not come out of the ocean in a square and it just looked way processed and obviously pre frozen. The tarter sauce was generic and lettuce was wilted. The fries were decent actually, but didn't make up for the rest of the food. Never again. We would come here occasionally for an inexpensive decent breakfast. The wait for anything is intolerable. Wait to order, wait for drinks, wait for a straw, wait for food, check, refill, anything. It's a minimum 2+ hour commitment for breakfast. It doesn't matter what day. Today, was the final straw. After being seated and waiting literally over an hour and half our food arrived. At this point the 3 of us just wanted to be gone. Fairly typical for this place. What really irked us was the service for the table next to ours. MAYBE 5-10 minutes before our food arrived 2 people were seated next to us on the right. It was apparent that the waitress knew them. Their food was brought out directly after ours. The 2 other people sitting on the other side of us on the left who were seated long before were still waiting for food as well. Mind you the people on the left still hadn't got their food when we were leaving and the people on the right were already finished. This is totally unacceptable! With the wait times this place has for people to get pushed back for preferential treatment for others is ridiculous. The food isn't that great to deal with the wait times. It may be a couple dollars cheaper than most places, but it's so not worth the wait. How many others have their orders pushed back to accommodate others who came in later. Keep the one star. Love this place, pancakes are so delish. I've also had the vegetable beef soup and it too was tasty. The staff of very friendly and attentive. Can't wait till things are back to normal after covid19 so I can try more meals. Good taste home made like you went to your aunts or grandmothers house. I'll admit it. This place has always been my second choice for Sunday breakfast, typically after visiting Corky's (or before that, Denny's) and seeing the looooong lines. Not any more. If you're looking for a solid place to get a good, hearty breakfast at a reasonable price with great customer service, look no further than JoAnnes! They've got all the breakfast items you crave: pancakes, waffles, french toast, omelettes, skillets, etc. The menu is extensive and the food is great. I ordered the hearty "Jumbo" breakfast and boy, was it a LOT of food: Two pancakes, two eggs, two pieces of bacon, two sausage links and a side of hash browns. Fortunately I shared with my four year old who tore through an entire pancake and half the eggs (she loved them). The bacon was perfectly cooked: nice and crisp. The sausage was a little too salty for my taste, but it was good (isn't everything that tastes good, bad for you anyway?). Once again, the service here is top notch. Every waitress says good morning, thanks you and is beyond polite when making special requests or if you have special needs while dining. I haven't tried this place for lunch or dinner, but based on the reviews I've read, you're probably going to find this place is solid for those meals as well. read more

This is a local diner, it's not a high end restaurant. You come here for DINER FOOD. And it's as good as it gets. The breakfasts are large portioned, fresh ingredients adaptable (tortilla instead of bread? No problem) The SALSA is very good, they have ketchup for those who like that on food other than french fries. Hot links and eggs? They have it, pork chops are very good too. They have a SENIOR MENU for those on a budget, or for those who can't eat the large portions anymore. Dinners are excellent, a good selection of daily soups, with vegetable beef a standard, but tortilla soup on Mondays, Navy Bean on Thursdays. The fried chicken ranges from very good to excellent, FRESH vegetables for dinner. The salads come with BEETS if you are so inclined. Pretty decent ribs, turkey with gravy and the steak has been perfect the times we have had it. Good service, very friendly and attentive. Is it as good as SYCAMORE INN? Of course not.....it's a DINER and it's as good as any out there, and MUCH less expensive than Corky's up the street. Came here for an early lunch/ late breakfast on a Saturday after leaving the Iron skillet, also located in ontario ( wait time was too long!) It wasn't extremely busy and we were sat right away. Shout out the the employees in they gray shirts! They sit you, refill coffee religiously, and bus the tables... also a shout out the Eunice, I think shes one of the owners and is ALWAYS there on weekend mornings/afternoons making sure operations are run efficiently and even walking around herself with a pot of coffee making sure all the customers are satisfied! Today I ordered a hot link skillet with eggs, my fiance and brother in law ordered biscuits and gravy combo and jumbo breakfast... food was good and very filling as always! This place offers large portions and good quality, tasty food for reasonable prices... excellent option for families. I started coming here with my parents years ago and its remained consistent in my top go-to's for breakfast ( lunch options good too!) It was my first time having our waitress today and she was okay... she was friendly but I wouldn't say as attentive as I am used to here. She took our order and checked on us once, maybe twice. As mentioned, our coffee was kept full by the highly attentive bus boys in gray, and once by Eunice (owner I think). We had to ask for a to go box and our check from another waitress we were able to flag down as she walked by. Wouldnt be an issue if it was packed like I have seen it, but it wasnt. Overall, I maintain 4 stars because the food was good, customer service by employees other than our waitress was great and our waitress was okay.. we left full and happy. I've ordered the Chorizo plate w/potatos, Ham Steak w/eggs, Huevos Rancheros w/potatos, and Pork Chops w/rice&beans. I must say that Joannes is the real mccoy. My son and I came in early for breakfast, I first wanted to go to Norms, however my son didn't want to wait in line . So I suggested let's go to Joanne's. We rarely eat out for breakfast but when we do we both usually order the same dish on the menu. He got the corned beef breakfast plate, and I ordered I think it was the #4 daily special. Eggs, with sausage and hot pancakes. I wanted to write this review mainly for the pancakes. I have to say I think they have the BEST pancakes here! They are so fluffy, and buttery and yummy!!!! To get our day off right and enjoy a terrific breakfast, Joanne's is the place. My review will focus only on breakfast since I come here only for breakfast. Allow me to explain what makes this place great: Food: their HOME FRIES are a plus. Don't order hashbrowns, that's just bland, frozen stuff from a bag. I'm a hearty eater so I typically get the LUMBARJACK meal. It runs about $10, but it will keep me full well into the afternoon. OJ is not fresh-squeezed, but at least it isn't watered down. Coffee is average but plentiful. Omelets and skillet items are also good. FYI- they don't have turkey bacon or other decent substitutes for pork products. In the two years I've been coming here, I've never had a bad order. Service: I am thoroughly surprised at the comments by my fellow Yelpers. I've never experienced a lapse in service or poor service. The staff here is friendly and always checking on every seated patron. Eunice, the owner, sets the standard for the staff by greeting the regulars when they come in and introducing herself to new customers. FIVE STARS TO THE STAFF FOR THEIR CONTINUOUS GREAT SERVICE. I enjoy coming to this place and prefer it over other breakfast locations in the area. Prices are on point; food is great but not excellent. I had the French toast combo and my husband had an omelette. My husband rated his omelette as just ok, and I rated my plate as very good--nicely grilled french toast, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, finished off with a light sprinkling of powdered sugar and dollops of butter. It was accompanied by two scrambled eggs and bacon. Service was excellent, my coffee cup was never empty, and they checked on us regularly. Refreshing to receive such service especially from humble little cafe. This is a great family restaurant. I always have the usual breakfast which is the #1. It consists of either fresh fruit or hash browns, eggs, and toast. The fruit is cut in chunks and there are usually cantaloupe, honeydew melon, pineapple, orange, and bananas. All this for only $3.99! Our waitress, Lety, knows our orders by heart as well. Now, that is what I called exceptional customer service and I can tell she loves her job. Dinner specials is also a great deal. It starts at 3pm. most of the time when i drive by this place at lunchtime i noticed the parking lot was fairly full of cars.. so today i stopped by a weekday for lunch. I order the veggie skillet with eggs scrambled. Egg preparation. Good. Vegetables, fresh. Seasoning, a little on the bland side for me. I asked for some salsa, and they had some medium salsa that wasn't bad. At the end of my meal I realized I could have used some Rooster Sauce (Sri Racha) and that woulda been perfect on my breakfast meal. They do have Rooster sauce if you ask for it! Service: I sat at the counter and the gals took very good care of me. They were talkative when I wanted to chat and checked on me periodically during my meal. Crowd: For a weekday, it was the typical senior citizen crowd, well behaved,and relatively quiet. I would guess that on a weekend it is much busier and louder. I could see service slowing on the weekends.. Fairly big seating area coupled with a smallish kitchen means longer prep times... maybe that explains some of the poorer reviews. I have been a loyal customer of Joannes for 5 years now. I am a regular customer for several reasons. The management always polite, The servers are all EXCELLENT very polite, friendly, and always check to make sure my order is correct and Im enjoying my meal. The cooks not appropriate here chefs would be more correct, are the best. The food is Far Above any restaurant in the inland empire.
