Chicken over rice halal with white sauce on the side
    Trieu L.

It was a huge order with sauce on the side and if salad on the side it gives you corn, chickpeas banana peppers onions, tomatoes, and plenty of rice beneath the chicken seasoned , it is best to eat right at the table before it goes cold but I can't seem to find any other places that gives a good amount of rice to meat proportions like they do and this large size is still under $13 for a reasonable deal that can be very nice if you crave for halal food, check out chicken wings, gyro and other that might fit your palate as they also have grilled chicken breast topped over rice. I could try deep fried chickpeas fritters next time there's a name for it but that should do for now!

I do enjoy eating their lamb over rice platter and the fried chicken. The platter is only good if it's spicy in my opinion. You have to purchase drinks if you want to drink something. I have tried placing a phone order once before and it was a busy line a lot of the times and when I was able to talk to someone, they would not let me place any order over the phone and I had to come in. Spacious seating inside but must ask them for keys to the restroom. There was a piece of hair on my food platter once so be careful. I used to enjoy coming here to eat but the quality is changing and doesn't feel the same as it was years before.

Hello My name is Linda Phillips and I have an autistic 5year daughter I went to Jones Chicken and ordered myself a lamb salad and my daughter two piece dinner and fries! I asked for two drumsticks when I got the food I was still in the driveway and I seen one of the drumsticks was all broken up so I instantly showed the young lady in the drive through and she laughed and looked surprised I told her my daughter wouldn't eat that drumstick and she said there wasn't anything wrong with it and she's going to have too I then said no she really won't because she can't pick it up and she's special needs she has autism and she won't eat anything like this! Instead asked her to cook my daughter another drumstick she said NO it's perfectly fine and she doesn't care about my daughter having autism it's not her problem...My daughter Aba Therapist was in the car as well and couldn't believe what she was hearing! The woman refused to give me either my money back or replace the chicken! It's a lot more but I know you asked for us to keep it short! They also messed up my order as well and I called to tell her that she said I was lying and I had the food for both meals and the receipt!

One my favorite places for late night bites and something quick. I take this place over Halal Guys all day everyday. Get the lamb over mixed half spice rice. Because if you get full spicy you will regret it in the morning. But the mixed half spice is good amount of kick in your month and has good flavor compared to halal guy which is bland. The fried chicken is decent to try too.

This combo (chicken & lamb) over spicy rice is life

Several years later from my last review and I still love this place. I have tried and failed on many missions trying to find a place here in DFW that offers spicy rice like Jones. I know most places offer the spicy red sauce but it's not the same. Jones's spicy rice packs the heat throughout the dish and is guaranteed to make even the most spicy food lover sniffle. The white sauce perfectly complements it The lamb is delicious although the chicken is hit and miss. Overall, still good. I have been inside since my last review. It is simply set up and neat. They make your order in front of you and you pay at the counter. No fountain drinks. There's a good amount of seating but on the last couple of visits, there were not too many people dining in. They did pack extra white sauce to my order though which was super cool since they would charge extra for them before. Keep doing that please. I still can't leave Houston without picking up some Jones to take back home. Open one up in DFW please!!!

Was looking for some place that was open late at night. Found this on Yelp and it was decent. Good variety of food. Good service. We had fried chicken and frankly not much to share about it. It was done fresh along with fries and it gets 3 stars for feeding me and my son at a late hour !

This place is actually authentic Halal! They give you so much food and it's fast service. It's the perfect spiciness level and they put so much white sauce on top. You can ask for extra white sauce if you wanted. I love that they fill the to go containers to the brim. What was new to me was that they put chopped up carrot in there. I actually really liked it as well. It gave a good texture and it was like eating carrots with ranch. It was the perfect combo. Would recommend this place if you're in the area!

    3 piece fried chicken

I came for lunch this week to try some of their fried chicken. My order was for a 3 piece meal that comes with fries for $6.99. They told me the food would take 10 minutes but it was actually ready for me in 5 minutes. That's fast and in case you are wondering the food was piping hot. They gave me 2 thighs and one drumstick. With a medium crust, I thought the chicken was good tasting and satisfactory. The serving of fries was large and they had a seasoning on them that tasted good. However I needed ketchup for them and the only option here are ketchup packets which I hate (except for the ones at Chick-fil- A). The regular packets have so little ketchup in them you have to open many to get enough and that's too much work. This meal was good and inexpensive but not warranting a score higher than a 3. If in the area, I would come back and order the chicken again but maybe order a different side of rice to take the place of the fries. Get some ketchup bottles!

    Lamb over rice

Jones Fried Chicken has been a staple for halal style lamb or chicken over rice for my friends and I since back when we were in college. I mean it's perfect since it's super filling, tasty, relatively cheap, and they are open till 5am. It's not located in the best part of town, and you'll occasionally get a beggar asking you for money outside, but inside it's all delicious food. Super brightly lit, it's a nothing fancy restaurant that just focuses on their food. I usually only order their lamb/chicken over rice, but my friends really like their fried chicken wings and cheesecake dessert also. A small is like $6 and a large is close to $10. But you would have to be SUPER hungry to completely finish a large on your own. I do like this place better than halal guys or gyro king, but specifically because of their spicy rice and their SPICY red sauce. That red sauce packs a punch so don't use too much of it if you've never tried it before, but I personally use 3 containers of it/large order. But as long as you don't mind the lack of ambiance and are craving some lamb over rice, I highly recommend this place! It's just got that home cooked, slightly greasy in a good way, hole in the wall feeling that other similar halal meat over rice places don't have. Definitely give it a chance and you'll come out happy!

They had run out of beef ribs, so we ended up getting the pork chop instead, and it was really good! The mac and cheese with bacon was rich, cheesy, and delicious. The potato salad was a huge surprise, I'm usually not a potato salad person, but this one was a solid 10/10. The only thing I wouldn't recommend was this French-style side (it looked like a giant turd ). It was a 0/10 for me. I took one bite and couldn't eat the rest. The peach cobbler was just okay. But then I learned about the mac and cheese... And saw that there is an option to add brisket to it. Done deal. And getting a pint was the perfect amount because I was nice and full after. The way the place is laid out, you go in, hop in line, and then claim a table after paying. A science specifically says not to hold the table before paying because it's unfair... First time I have seen a sign like that, but I get it. Honestly I was expecting just a sprinkle of brisket on top of the mac, but it was a hefty amount, and WOW WOW was it good! I added both of the homemade sauces to my food so I could taste the differences. The kick was nice, but I really did love the sweeter one. The sausage was good too, but I wish I got the jalapeno cheese one. I had opted not to since I already had so much mac and cheese. As if the barbecue wasn't good enough, they had a bar with a really friendly bartender who is eager to give city recommendations. It was thursday, and they had tequila deals, including some very strong $6 margaritas. We only did one round, and that was all we needed. We were also able to watch the World Cup game there. It was a total vibe and I know I would go back whenever I visit again. Geez, what is the other BBQ like in the city?!

This is a nicely sized spot next to the Jusgo plaza in Houston Chinatown, so plenty of parking and also food options. It's tucked in a corner but should not be written off. We were provided menus and started ordering everything that sounded good (within reason for 2, sorta). We ended up getting the Uyghur polo with lamb shank, Uyghur goshnaan, korma chop, garlic cucumbers, mint tea, and a yogurt for dessert. This was more than enough food for 2 but I wanted to try a bunch and this is me holding back. The Uyghur goshnaan was very crispy and the filling was flavorful and juicy, good lamb flavor and nice spices. The Uyghur polo with lamb shank was great and the pilaf had a nice sweetness with raisins that cut through some of the fatty richness of the lamb. The korma chop was also super flavorful with a nice savory sauce and noodled with an excellent texture, very QQ. I don't usually order cucumbers at Asian restaurants cause I can make a cucumber salad pretty easily at home but the one here was very good. Excellent refreshing crunch and garlic flavor to go with all the other dishes. The mint tea was also nice to wash down the mountains of food I was inhaling. I also enjoyed the yogurt, it's a thicker yogurt like a Greek yogurt and topped with honey and raisins. Again, a nice sweet/tart treat that didn't feel too heavy after everything else. I definitely need to come back as I didn't even get my big plate chicken but it'll be hard to choose between all the options. I def recommend this spot, esp if you like lamb as all the dishes we had were excellent and priced fairly for the portion and current economic situation.
