On a busy Tuesday morning this place was packed. We waited about 10 minutes before we were sat. The servers keep the flow going to avoid long wait times. Upon entering, the first thing you see is the fresh baked pies and cakes...yummy. The portions of the breakfast plates was plenty and delicious. From the chicken fried steak to pork chops and eggs the food was on point. Save room for the sweet stuff. The lemon meringue was amazing. It was served still warm from the oven with delicious flavor. With the small town vibe they make you feel like you're a local. Definitely returning for more on my next trip south.

Their parking? Bleh. Their price point? Meh. Their pie crust? Oh hell yeah. Came in with a small group early on a Wednesday afternoon maybe an hour before closing, and most of the tables were still filled with diners. We were seated right away in the way way back of the restaurant. The layout and decor of the place gives it a classic, borderline kitschy vibe. You can tell it's a place that's managed to hold its own for like 60 years (!!!). The server was friendly, overall service was prompt, and the portions were solid. I got the quiche of the day, which was ham and cheese, and it was amazing. It came with a side (salad was fresh and crisp) and a muffin -- their raspberry streusel muffin was so delicious and a perfect dessert to tie the meal together. I would definitely get this special again, and look forward to trying their other versions of both quiches and muffins. Others at my table got strawberry pancakes, a pastrami sandwich, and chicken fried steak. All food was devoured, so I take it that it was good. However, I really think that the baked goods make this place. So if you go, don't skip out on those.

Omg, i had to wrote another review. Was meeting a friend from out of town coming in from Long Beach Airport. It was the perfect location. We enjoyed a great lunch. The Obion rings had me off a delicate tempura-like batter not the beer batter or breadcrumb fry I'm accustommed to but pretty good. Of course, i had to try the Lush Pie. This was probably the best lemon pie dessert ever! So good, my friend had to order her own dessert. Looks like a popular place with the locals. Service was friendly and attentive. For sure coming back! Street parking.

Me and my aunt decided to come here after hearing the great reviews on this place on a Friday morning. Parking isnt the best and we had to park down the street and around the corner but we didn't mind the walk. We came around 11 or so we put on name on the list and it took about 20-25 min before we were called back. We for a table right next to the window. Our waitress Juleni was super sweet and helpful ( she even complimented my freckles ). I ordered the chicken pot pie with side salad with Italian dressing and a hot green tea. My aunt ordered the clam chowder and turkey sandwich in squaw bread and a hot green tea also. Our food came out very quickly maybe 5 minutes or so after ordering. We both really enjoyed our meals. I haven't had a chicken pot pie in awhile and it was the perfect crust to filling ratio and very filling. The salad was really good as well. Although the restaurant was packed we didn't feel rushed and were able to catch up and spend time together which we both appreciated

It's like your local spot always a line here. They close early. The vibe is perfect place for a sit down coming home vibe. We came to celebrate my friend's birthday. They have homemade pies here. I had the soup and salad combo with a pie. It was a great deal combo. The chili was very tasty. Hard to find a good chili often times too salty.

I come here for the dessert!!! They make a fantastic banana pie. It's addicting and decadent.

Wow... seen this place over the years but never stopped in. Until today..... after my husband's co worker began insisting we give it a try. Omg he has right.... Obsessed...... just left after breakfast and already thinking of when I will be back. Breakfast was amazing desserts here look amazing. I was stuffed and didn't try anything this time. The lines here are out the door. We were lucky and spotted 2 empty chairs at the counter n sat right away. Our server Roger was great. My primary care doctor is close by.... Next week and I will stop by here again :) FIY: ambiance here is tight in case you don't like crowded seating this might not be the right spot for you. (There is outside seating but it was closed today)

This is an iconic place for anyone who grew up in the LBC. I have been here a few times and every visit, the service and food is amazing. Because it is so popular, it can get busy and since it is a bit small, you may need to wait, but it is well worth the wait. A few of my favorite dishes include the country fried steak, french toast, chicken pot pie, and the homemade pies. There is such a great variety of food that I am sure you will have no problem finding something to your liking. As you sit in the cafe, you can get some free smells of all their homemade pies. My favorite is the peach pie, it is fruity, fresh, flavorful, and pairs well with a scoop of ice cream. If needed, you can always take a pie home if you are too full from your entree. The staff here are so nice and often times, you will find the owners helping out during busy peak days. They are attentive and quick to serve. Every time has been great so I highly recommend if you are looking for some great breakfast or an early lunch. This is a Long Beach staple, so don't miss out!

I'd been putting off dining in because there always seems to be a line, but I finally made it and wow, I get the hype now. We arrived just a few minutes after opening and it was already filling up. The food is amazing. I ordered the turkey, spinach, and cheese omelet with added mushrooms, and it was perfection. I also shared the banana pancakes with my sister-in-law and stole a few bites of my boyfriend's biscuits and gravy. Every flavor was memorable! And let's not forget the homemade jam. If you have the option to get toast, try the sourdough and absolutely drench it in that jam..trust me. Despite how busy it looked, the service was quick, and the food came out fast. The place seems small when you first walk in, but there's extra seating in the back, so they keep things moving efficiently. Overall, totally worth the wait. I'm already planning my next visit.

I can't believe I'm just now writing a review, considering I've been coming here since the mid-'90s. Bake N Broil is truly a neighborhood gem. If you don't believe it, just drive by and watch the number of people waiting outside--and inside--for a table. They don't take reservations, which is a bit of a bummer, but honestly, it's usually worth the wait. I've always ordered breakfast, and everything I've had over the years has been consistently good. My go-to orders are the diced ham & eggs, banana nut pancakes, and the ABC omelette. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. They used to be open until 8pm, so I was surprised on a recent Sunday visit to learn they now close at 2pm for dine-in. They do remain open for takeout only until around 7pm or 8pm. Parking can be a little challenging. There's limited street parking, plus a lot behind the restaurant. Back in the day, you could park in the church lot across the street, but I'm not sure if that's still allowed. Oh and can't forget about the baked goods. Lemon lush pie, the muffins, and slice of red velvet cake- So good! Overall, I'm glad to see that after all these years, the food and service are still exceptional.

Where do I even begin? I've been coming to Bake-N-Broil for over a decade now, and it's safe to say I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with the place. The love part is easy...the food, the staff, and especially the desserts keep me coming back. The hate part? The wait. No matter when you come, expect at least a 30-minute wait. You write your own name down on the list and hope to hear it called before you start craving dessert for lunch. Honestly, I wish they had an attendant to help with check-ins -- it would make the experience feel a little more cared for and organized. That said, the staff has always been friendly, helpful, and upbeat, which makes up for a lot. The food is consistently solid -- slightly above standard -- and you really can't go wrong with most of the menu. But let's be real: the stars of the show are the desserts and baked goods. The red velvet cupcake is hands-down the best I've ever had -- 10/10. No one else even comes close. The lemon lush pie is another standout -- creamy, perfectly tart, and absolutely unforgettable. You'll never think about the old tired lemon meringue again. On my most recent visit, my server was Juleni, who was an absolute gem -- sweet, attentive, and genuinely kind. I tried the cheeseburger for the first time and would give it a solid 7/10. Great presentation, though the patty could've used a bit more seasoning and the bottom bun was a little soggy. Will I be back? Absolutely. After more than 10 years, Bake-N-Broil still has my heart (and my sweet tooth). If you're ever in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by -- just be ready to wait a bit, because it's worth it.

I love Bake 'n Broil so much I go there for my birthday every year. I always say if you can do a good classic American breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon & hash browns you're the one. & they really are it. Their seasonal menu smacks and their food is top tier. They got homemade jam on the tables y'all! Plus lots of baked goods to buy. Haven't tried their lunch menu, but for breakfast it hits. *Street Parking easily accesible *Can be a bit of a wait on the weekends but worth it IMO *Make sure your whole party is there or you'll have to wait to be seated! *Service always attentive & nice

Fantastic diner experience. Plenty of counter space for dining. There was a crowd and line for tables but the staff we're working hard to get everyone served. Ordered the huevos rancheros with seasoned hash browns and OJ. Great tasting dish with spicy salsa. Id come back for the pies.

Is breakfast served all day?

Yes, and check their specials.

What time do they serve lunch?

I believe the full menubis available all working hours.

How many can feed if you order their cakes?

Round Cakes serve 12-15, 1/2 Sheet Cakes serve 24-36.

Can I make reservations?

They do not take reservations. But there is also counter seating so you can skip the line. It's first come, first serve so there may be a little wait.

Is breakfast all day?

Breakfast is all day, but keep in mind they close early.

Are they open for dine in dinner?

yes they are open for dining in I went and ate inside.

When will they open for dinner?

I got a frozen chicken pot pie, but there are no directions on how to cook it? Help

I would cook it for 30 mins in a preheated oven 375-400 depending on your oven. Check with a butter knife to see if it ready to remove from the oven...

Any idea when you'll be open for dining in?

They are open now

Do they take reservations?

I have been there a few times and they are not fully opened to full capacity yet indoors. Perhaps calling them and perhaps after June 15th. But there is outdoor seating and its really nice weather for it now. Perhaps you may enjoy that. There is… Read more

Are they open during COVID19?

I believe so. I saw people getting take out when I drove by. Call them.

Why was the restaurant closed this evening? Drove all the way from south orange county for dinner here. The hours said open until 830.

I don't know and suppose to be open. Maybe some trouble like black out or fridge was broken etc... sorry but you should try there next time again. It's good place!!!

I just called to try and place an order to pick up a cake for 12/22. The lady informed me the last day is the 21st. But then online it says we can place an order online for orders the week of Christmas? I'm confused

They are sold out for cakes for Christmas week, per their website.

Is it too late to place an order for pick-up next week Wednesday or Thursday?

No it’s not, you can order holidays pies on our website, thebakenbroil.com

Finally made it out and they are about to close. :(…read more It was very busy when we arrived and we had to wait about 20 minutes, but after being seated, everything was smooth. Trying several items on the menu provided us a nice sampling of what they have to offer. We enjoyed everything we ordered. My favorite was probably the Brussel sprouts as they were cooked to perfection and not sweet like most restaurants serve them. A close 2nd was the chicken parmesan served over zucchini noodles. The final item ordered was a mushroom pasta with shrimp. The shrimp were fantastic with a light char and perfect flavoring. The pasta was good. It was a bit to spicy for me with the chili oil so I only had a small portion. The inside is simple yet inviting with an open layout. They seemed a bit short staffed, but every one was hustling and honestly we were well taken care of. Sad I won't have another opportunity to try more of the menu, but grateful to squeeze in this visit before they close in about a week.

It did look quite busy on the patio when we checked in with the hostess. We were informed that it would prob be about 20 minutes or so for a table and if we wanted to wait at the bar. Exactly what we did. Bar area had maybe 5/6 hi top chairs that look onto the bar. Gabriel and Francisco who were working was knocking the drinks out one by one. Sitting there and just watching them create magic for everyone, it was quite amusing. Seeing how it's made and presented with precise detail, it was an art. While waiting for the table we started off with the raspberry lychee martini and the spicy margaritas. Both were great. The right amount of kick with each sip. Gabriel was knocking them out one by one and man was he busy. Fransisco took are of us while we were eating which we ended up just having our dinner at the bar instead. The last time I remembered the chicken Parmesan which was excellent. So we started off with the grilled prawns as a starters. Five prawns in a skewers and grilled with a delicious sauce accompanied. It was tasty and quite delicious. Decent size and meaty for each bite. Entrees was a little mishap as our meal was mistakenly given to the party next to us which they enjoyed. Honesty mistake but we laughed it off. Kitchen was informed and a rushed was put on our order. We weren't in a rush so it was fine with us. They apologized and graciously offered us a dessert after dinner. Something simple but very graceful for the honest mistake. Entrees, the wild mushrooms pasta which was quite tasty and pretty decent in size. The cream sauce which wasn't too over powering the meal was great. Each bite was very tasty. Then there was the chicken Parmesan which why we were here and expecting. The last visit it was excellent with grilled broccolini, slices of tomatoes on top and mozzarella cheese and onto spaghetti pasta. It was great. Thinking it would be the same this time which it wasn't. This visit, it was just served with squash pasta and buffalo mozzarella on top. Honestly it wasn't what I expected, somewhat of a little disappointed. Chicken was good don't get me wrong. But the hot meat with sauce and then you have literally COLD squash pasta paired with it. It was a little underwhelming. Overall, we still had a nice experience. The place was pretty full and of course the lakers were on so it was fun seeing everyone cheering them on. Bar seating for a meal was great as we had fun conversations with both Gabriel and Francisco. Plus they were cranking them drinks out one by one. Excellent in what they do. The drinks were great, grilled prawns and wild mushrooms pastas were excellent. Chicken parm, this time was a miss. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and cocktails. Also the dessert, highly recommend the Cinnabon with vanilla ice cream. Wow, it went down very well. Hoping next time will outdo this.

There was already a good amount of people waiting when we arrived. They actually were able to seat us right away on the side where the street was at one of the high top counter. Don't think people wanted those seats. One section was empty which we asked if they could moved the umbrella a little to shade us and the other section. We couldn't sit there as we were told that it was for a group of three that was waiting already and they requested it shaded. Ok, so we can't share the umbrella.... Anyway, we sat down and did move the umbrella a little where it would shade everyone but the hostess came back minutes later and moved it back. And of course, the group didn't even sit there which they ended up putting two other people who didn't even care if the umbrella was there... Enough of that. Service was on the slow side. It did take a while till someone came over to take our order as well as brought over some water. Menu did look similar but I'm not sure if they added new items on the menu. After we ordered which did take a while a drink did come out. I had to walk over to the bar section to ask for a straw. Appetizer did come out pretty fast which was the onion blossom. It looked amazing, a little salty but good. The waiter that brought it out for us, I asked for an extra side of dipping but that never came out. As for the main, the honey chicken sandwich and the breakfast croissant. Well, when the dish came out, one of the order was wrong. Instead of croissant sandwich, it was a breakfast sandwich instead. Server was a little taken back and asked the waiter which they looked somewhat confused. Don't know if it was an honest mistake or they just put in the wrong order. Anyways, had to wait for that to come out. Again, still didn't get any extra sauce which I ended up walking to a table to grab some ketchup instead. One of the server did notice but was like whatever. Rarely did we get checked on until I asked for a refill which was once the whole time. When the bill came, I had to ask again. Not once did water get refilled the whole time till the end. Service was just not the same as prior visit. I don't know if it's new management or just a change in name but it wasn't a nice experience. The food was good I give that but service this time, major fail. Hopefully it's not alway like that. Hopefully, next time will be different.

It's right in Belmont and one neighborhood away from the water. Great date place and bar too. 2026 update: This breaks my heart. The menu has changed, the chef has definitely changed and service has unfortunately gone down. First off they cut a good portion of the menu and the physical design is not the easiest to read. (that's not really a problem tbh but it's something to note) What is the problem are the following: Ordering food for 3 took 20 minutes for servers to come, get food, and water + drinks we ordered. food took almost 45 minutes to arrive at the table. I get the kitchen makes a lot of stuff but this is crazy. at this point we were here for over an hour without eating. Not only were the orders wrong but also food portions were noticeably smaller. Credit due here, they fixed that (ofc which takes an extra time). Final straw here: To get someone's attention, get the bill, then for them to come get the bill, pay, and give us our cards back took: TWENTY MINUTES. Just to pay. tldr: food prices went up, staff not attentive, food still decent but different chef. Food is noticeably saltier. This place is still cute and servers as a great bar but oh my gosh has it gone down hill. Full context half the restaurant was empty. we are so disappointed. this place used to be great :(

This place was such a pleasant surprise. From the outside, it looks pretty unassuming, but once you…read morestep inside, it's actually incredibly cute and has a warm, inviting atmosphere. One of the highlights is their Thai tea, which is served with a popsicle and seems to be one of their most popular items for good reason. It's fun, unique, and absolutely delicious. I also tried the salmon curry, which was something new for me, and I ended up loving it. The flavors were rich, balanced, and unlike anything I've ordered before. Kin was one of the only restaurants open until 10 PM. We were seated right away, and somehow the five of us sat in a private room. It was kind of late for me to eat anything really heavy so I just have my usual salad and it was the beef tenderloin salad. They serve it up with a lot of beef and less veggies. I got a little taste of the spicy fried rice, which was really good. Some of us ordered Thai tea and didn't expect what we received, which was the tea with a Thai tea popsicle. What a treat! The Thai tea itself was pretty standard, but that popsicle was like the icing on a cake. The places, modern and clean. Staff is helpful and nice. Parking is their own lot but can be difficult to get a spot on a busy day or night.
