The chile rellenos were very average, the pasole that accompanied them was the star of the dish. The steak frites were ok but they should have been incredible considering they were twice the price I pay at our local French bistro in Chicago. Portions were large but all in all the food was pretty average. The margaritas were between $18 - $29, I thought they were overpriced. We would not return.

He was warm and seemed to take a general interest in us. I shared my concerns with him that my pallet doesn't tolerate much spicy. He at all. He assured me there would be no problem in accommodating that. He started us off with a complementary prickly pear & lemonade drink which we loved! He also provided a complementary appetizer which was very unique and made out of avocado and mascarpone and some other items I don't remember. Why I didn't love it, I did enjoy hasting something so unique and different. We started with the best cornbread I've ever had that shaped like a cob of corn with three different kinds of butters. The cornbread is $12 and worth it! Next came the Caesar salad wrapped in some kind of egg roll wrapper and topped with an anchovy mixture. We split it so we each got two rolls which was plenty. We very much enjoyed the flavors in the salad. Don ordered the Wagyu short rib with polenta. While we don't love polenta, this was tasty and complemented the beef nicely. Don said this was the best short rib he ever had. I wish I had a picture of how they presented it. When they took the lid off, there was a lovely steam cloud and it smelled wonderful. I had scallops with each one placed beautifully on top of of really interesting wild rice and finished with toasted coconut. The pineapple salsa and the Hoja Santa Fe Oil were placed in small rounds in the middle of the dish because they had some kick to them. What was especially impressive, is the gentleman who brought out my meal leaned over and said that the Chef wanted to let me know that the two items in the small dishes had heat to them, but I was encouraged to give them a try for the full flavor. Impressive! I was able to enjoy the pineapple salsa, but the oil was a little too spicy for me, but I'm glad I tried it. We would've loved to try dessert, but we were fully satiated by our delicious meal. It was quite an experience and we look forward to returning.

I asked the server to bring bread with our meal and was presented with some kind of focaccia bread stick that was hard and stale. What happened to the wonderful bread that used to be served there! I ordered the Tuna Salad, and my friend ordered the Beet Salad. While there was a generous amount of tuna, it was shredded into very small pieces and the salad was dry. It was completely underwhelming and unsatisfying. My friend commented the dressing on her salad was very sweet and the pistachios were ground up into the goat cheese. I'm very surprised at the quality of the dishes as I've never had a less than great experience there prior to this experience. I hope this was an isolated incident but will think twice about returning.

The soup was thick and tasty, and the sandwich was out of this world. Piled high with tuna, and lots of cheese, on thick, delicious, sourdough (?) bread. It was so filling, that I ended up eating the insides off the piece of bread. My friend had a combo mac and cheese, and wasn't blown away, but maybe she just put together the wrong combo. In addition to counter seating, there were also a few tables out front that the Owner seemed to monitor too. I would definitely return here if I were in the area.

Since we had mentioned when making our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, both the hostess and our waiter greeted us with a warm "Happy Anniversary" and surprised us with two complimentary glasses of champagne. For drinks, I ordered the Buffalo Trace whiskey flight, while my wife chose a shrub, which is a sweet fruity cocktail with a hint of vinegar (like apple cider vinegar or kombucha). We both thoroughly enjoyed our drinks. To start, we ordered the corn chowder with bone marrow, which was such a unique and incredibly delicious experience for both of us. You scrape the bone marrow directly into the soup, adding richness to both the flavor and texture, which were already excellent. For our entree, we shared the ribeye steak with duck fat fingerling potatoes, and it was more than enough food for the two of us. The steak was cooked to perfection and, surprisingly, had very little fat. The duck fat potatoes were soft, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the meal. For dessert, we ordered the Kentucky butter cake and...oh my...the salted bourbon caramel was absolutely amazing!

the food is extremely overpriced and it is difficult to find something to eat on the menu because the descriptions on the menu make almost everything sound very unappealing. The menu overly trendy and pretentious... This also applies to the wait staff as well. The bartender was rude and pompous and told us we had to order a drink or we couldn't sit at the bar and wait for our table... this attitude carried over to our server who was snobbish and extremely unattentive. We asked for water several times... finally got it for our dessert. The entire order was put it wrong... the food was cold and overcooked. We asked to speak to a manager and the server said that she was to busy and to talk to us and that we were overly needy and she didn't find it necessary to talk to us! Word of mouth gets around! I was excited to try out Joseph's. On the plus side the service was great and the food tasted excellent! On the negative side, the dinner entree's should really be advertized as tapas size portions! For example, I had the rabbit lasagne. If you scroll thru the images you can see a picture of it. At $22 it will be gone in four bites! Unless you wish to order three of their tapas size entree's I suggest eating before you go out to dinner... Or leave feeling hungry... which is not a good feeling after spending around $60 on a glass of wine, entree and a small desert. read more

As fans and part time residents of Santa Fe, we love to discover great restaurants. We rate Joseph's as one of those unique finds. With a great bistro atmosphere and with a knowledgeable wait staff, we would recommend this restaurant to our most difficult foodie friends. Last night's meal was one again over the top. The lamb chops had that just off the grill taste rarely found at most restaurants. My Duck was crispy, succulent and more than I could eat. It would take too long to express why this is our third visit. Try it you will return. read more

We met the GM Star, she's incredible. Talk about someone you are drawn to who knows her food and wine pairings. The bone marrow dish was the absolute table favorite. Come on. Joe's burger for $15 at the bar or the Relleno which is hands-down the best in all of New Mexico. Not done by somebody else's idea of a Relleno but by what a Relleno is supposed to be !!!! My only complaint about a terrific breakfast experience was an up-charge of $3.50 for "100% Pure Grade A Maple Syrup". You can buy terrific maple syrup at Sam's for $12.28 for 32 oz. (38 cents / oz.). Charging $3.50 for 2oz. of syrup seems excessive, but that's just my opinion. I'm not sure why this was frustrating to me, as we have overpaid for food all over Santa Fe, including other restaurants with similar up-charges for "pure maple syrup". We would definitely come back here, but would be wary of similar up-charges.
