We walked to this restaurant while staying at the Drury plaza in town. We happened to be there for restaurant week so we had the chance to try a few dishes. We loved the bone marrow, trout salad and rabbit lasagna. For dessert the chocolate cake with cream and cloud cake were unbelievable. The chef seems to have a talent for using ingredients that one might think may not go together. Really unique and delicious ingredient combinations! My wife and I enjoyed a great meal here. The service was good, prompt and attentive. We split the harvest salad and the tarragon gave it a good fresh taste. I had the duck confit, it was tender, the skin and fat were rendered well and the sides were good. My wife had the brick chicken and she enjoyed it. We finished with the sorbet sampler, with grapefruit tarragon and lemon thyme it left our palates feeling fresh. The restaurant has a nice comfortable feel inside. We will go back. read more

The atmosphere was great. The staff was super friendly. And the food was out of this world. It was great to have such a large selection of imported beer and wine, not the normal offerings at most restaurants. Make sure to make a reservation before but it is definitely worth the wait. Very disappointing. Several of us had the duck which was tough and tasteless with a presentation that looked like a mess. The Lamb-chop appetizer ($16) was one, two small bite chop. We were able to get in on a Saturday night without a reservation when our previous wedding anniversary dinner arrangements went bust. So glad that happened. This was one of the best meals I've had in New Mexico. My husband had the lamb burger cooked medium rare which he said was delicious. I had the buffalo ribs which were so tender I could cut them with a fork. The service was great! I wanted to order some Pinot Grigio which they didn't have but they brought me the closest thing. I don't remember what it was called but it was wonderful. I'm glad they didn't have the Pinot. This was one of the better white wines I've had in a while. The atmosphere is very relaxed and very Southwest. We're native New Mexicans and this is a place where you can get dressed up and go out, or go in jeans and hang out. We happened to be in jeans. For being $$$ in the price category, we found it very reasonable. And this is a biggie for me: I can't gluten and dairy. They modified my dish to accommodate that and it was still delicious. Many places when they modify the dishes, they modify the quality and flavor. They even had a gluten-free bread basket for me which seemed to be a focaccia. My husband had the regular stuff with an herb butter. We'll be back. My husband ordered one of the chocolate deserts which was gluten free and it was delicious as well. Went back this week and yup, still awesome. I highly suggest the duck fat fries, nice and skinny and crispy, with an amazing curry ketchup. Also, and not to be missed, the lamb burger with feta on an English muffin is pure meaty delight: you'll wonder why all burgers aren't made with sheep instead of cow. This location has gobbled up several good restaurants. Joseph's is great, so please help it survive. The food and service are excellent. I love duck, but am scared to order it in most restaurants. It is often either greasy or has too sweet of a sauce, or both. The crispy duck here was excellent. Cooked well. Not greasy. It also came with some very tasty items on the side. Yum. 3.5 stars. The cool waiter who greeted us was, sadly, not slated for our table. Our waitress was Frenchly beautiful and minimally attentive. The duck fat fries were great. Our raw salad and romaine wedge were imaginative and well executed. The chicken roulade was really good, but too busy for my tastes. I suspect the basil spaetzle is green from food coloring, not solely herbs. And, though it's clearly described on the menu, due to my preconceived charcuterie notions, I expected more solid food on the charcuterie platter: there was no sliced cured meat. That was my fault. However, I did leave a very expensive dinner hungry, which is sad. A more adventurous palate would enjoy this place more. read more

Sadly, we were disappointed. We started with the fried polenta which was nice, but nothing special. The duck fat fries were also good, but not as delicious as I would expect based on reviews the cost. The lamb ribs were nice as was the roasted chicken, though again...just ordinary. The chili rellano had a strange cornbread like coating and the flavor was not satisfactory. The waiter was pretentious and service was slow. With so many great places to eat in Sante Fe, I would waste time visiting Joseph's if visiting Santa Fe. The menu sounded delicious and I live interesting flavor combinations, in this case the flavor combinations didn't work well. I rated it a 2, based on quality of food vs. cost of meal. This was my third dining choice for the evening - it ended up being the only place close that was still open on a Sunday night. I am now kicking myself for not making this my first choice!! Service, food, and atmosphere were memorable for all the right reasons. The online menu put me off a little - I didn't think there would be any dishes I would truly love. The limited descriptions made me a little uneasy. Yet the bartender walked us through her favorites and they all sounded amazing. Ended up with the lamb banana curry - a tajine inspired dish that combined local lamb, yellow curry, rice, banana, and pomegranate. I had no idea those flavors would work so well together! We were here on a Monday night. We made reservations for 5:30, and I'm happy that we did. We were the first ones to arrive, and were amazed at the use of space. We were seated and served a nice sparkling water. Out waiter was super attentive and explained some newer menu items. We started with the baby spinach salad. Amazing, didn't skimp on the prosciutto, and the pomegranate seeds were a nice touch. I sipped a sparkling wine throughout my meal, because that's how I roll. Plus, it complemented each dish I had. My dinner companion had the steak au poirve, which was served at the requested temp. It looked delicious, served with an assortment of mushrooms and a demi glacé. I had the crisped salmon on corn pudding with tomatillo smear and a sweet potato goat cheese tamale. The salmon was perfect, the corn pudding was surprisingly sweet and the tomatillo smear made it interesting. But let's talk about the tamale. The masa was perfect, moist and flavorful. The filling was sweet potato and goat cheese. Before you can scoff, it was the best combination, especially with the tomatillo smear. For dessert we split the chocolate Marquis with vanilla bean creme anglaise. Wow! The coffee was served in a French press, and was a perfect way to end the meal. My champagne complemented the dessert too. Overall, this was a fantastic experience. The ambience was great, the wait staff exceptional and the food was much better than anticipated. Another pretentious over rated restaurant. The hostess was to busy talking on her cell phone to actually seat us. Finally a waiter came to our rescue and did the job. She retired to the bar to play with her computer. The garlic soup was in edible, couldn't quite figure out what was in it. The salad was was drenched in dressing, have them put it on the side if you have to go. The duck was boring. The rabbit lasagne was tasty but hardly recognizable as such. When I recommended to the waiter, who seemed so "knowledgable" about his wine list that they should stock a St. Joseph I got a blank stare. So much for his expertise. Plating is fussy with weird soup bowls. At these prices you would be better served staying home with a good bottle of St. Joseph and no surprises. read more

Amazing gastropub in Santa Fe. Great affordable wine selection with good recommendations from our waiter. The Elotes were a wonderful start to a cozy sumptuous meal. The spiced ribs were a delicious mix of indian flavor and bbq technique. The only disappointment was the ratatouille, more of a misnomer. Boy what a letdown! After looking forward to my sweet potato gnocchi for a week I found them to be a tasteless, soggy mess. Gnocchi was gummy with almost no taste and the surrounding veggies were so boiled/steamed that I wasn't even sure if I was eating potato or carrot. Joe's culinary magic mixed with a warm cozy atmosphere, accessible and fun bar menu, stellar staff, (particularly Ben the bartender/server) make this our go to date location. The half duck prepared confit style made our toes curl with delight and lip smacking abandon. The steak is one of the best in town, The marrow bone is a guilty pleasure. The eclectic and affordable wine list is masterfully paired, and the servers are knowledgeable and have been spot on with recommendations every time. We're from out of town but ran into Chef Dale on accident while looking for the pet supply store. Came back for dinner and we were blown away. Wait staff was very attentive. We sat on the patio with our puppy. We ordered the pork appetizer. Rib eye dinner and duck confit. The duck brought back memories of thanksgiving and Christmas for me. Can't say enough good things about this place. Cosy atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food. Had the vegetable napoleon which was hearty and soul satisfying. The simple salad is anything but - a fresh combination of butter lettuce, fennel, paper thin zucchini slices and pomegranate seeds. Dressing just right And all served on gorgeous hand made pottery.
