Be sure to call-in your order so that it's ready for you when you arrive. They can get backed up! I got the super burrito and it was delicious. The burrito is HUGE and comes packed with ingredients. I appreciated the amount of guac it came with. I would highly recommend it if you're feeling extra hungry. I also got to try the chicken enchiladas and it was great with the homemade sauce. I have been ordering food here for over 2 decades. I especially like their specials, which are outstanding! However, today, I ordered 2 taquito specials. I ask for hot sauce. Was told that will be $1.00( having already put $2.00 in their tip jar). Are you kidding me? Since when do you a charge for hot sauce in a Mexican restaurant? That's like going to a burger joint,ordering fries yet are charged for ketchup OR going to a pancake house and being charged for syrup. This IS price gouging to the fullest and to be so petty to not compliment your meal with at least one hot sauce. Really? We're talking hot sauce! Anybody knows when dining at a mexican restaurant, the condiments come with the meal- period! Fried chicken tacos are fire. I also really like how big the portions are for the wet burritos. Staff is very kind, and it's a nice quiet little spot. Not too many spots to eat inside but it's just as good once you take it home to eat as well! read more

I love this place! This little Mexican joint has been around for several decades and their Chile Verde is the bomb. Their crunchy chicken tacos are so good. went to this place 2 times since it was sold noticed that all pricing was greatly increased, both times I ordered combo plates that used to include salsa and both times i requested salsa and both times they said that salsa was not includes I told them that i had been coming here since the 80s and it was never an issue they said that for an addition $1.00 I coulld buy a small container I told them I have 4 orders so you want me to pay $4 just to have something that should allready be included ? I ordered thru DoorDash. 6 tacos. I requested extra cheese. THIS PLACE CHARGED ME $19.95 EXTRA for cheese without bothering to contact me first. It wasn't a container of cheese. Just a sprinkle of cheese on each taco. WHAT A RIP OFF! A few dollars would have been reasonable. Heck, the six tacos only cost $20.40. CRINKLE CUT FRIES! The fries they serve here is crinkle cut!! This is the first I've seen in carne asada fries and lemme tell you... it is BOMB! Why doesn't all places use crinkle cut fries in their asada fries?!? The ridges creat more surface area on the fry to coat and trap more toppings, creating a better flavor-to-fry ratio. It only makes sense!! I'm so sad I'm only now discovering such genius creation this late in life. The taco salad... also bomb! Similar ingredients to asada fries but you sub fries with lettuce and chips. Most flavorful salad I've had to date. Their red salsa... so good I could (and have) drink it by itself. It's that good. Place is small, no indoor dining. To-go only (for now). You want to phone in your order if around lunch time. The lunch rush will have a line out the door. This place was recommended by a coworker after smelling the aroma of her food: chicken tacos. Here's what I ordered: 4 Chicken Tacos, 2 Chicken Tamales and a kids meal with a burrito. End results: The tacos are on the small side and were tasty but not to exceed the maximum level of flavor that Chile Verde provides. The tamales were HUGE and tasty according to my Mom and daughter. I saw this spot on IG and I had to get there!! I got there and the door was locked because they were closing soon, the young lady open the door and let me and another customer in to take our order! The place is small but they pack a powerful punch!! I got two ground beef hard shell tacos which was really good( I would prefer a little more cheese and seasoning on the meat) The shredded beef nachos was nice serving size and the red sauce was sooo good!! It was almost NYE, and I was craving tamales. I heard this hole-in-the-wall Josie's had some good ones: My yfs reviews were not wrong. Its located on Normandie & 166th St in Gardena. I ordered a 1 lb chicken tamale combo ($7.95) and a cheese enchilada ($2.85). Josie's also specializes in hard tacos, but I wasn't in the mood for something so greasy in addition to a big tamale. They also offer smaller tamales for party platters. The tamale was sabroso! There was a good ratio of masa to meat vs other places that hardly put any meat and the masa is too firm. My only recs for improvement are to let the client choose whether or not they want all the cheese on top. I prefer tamales simply with sauce on top. Additionally, my tamale was broken in multiple pieces. I prefer my tamale whole. Lastly, Josie's tamales are not as good at La Dona Tamaleria in CPT, but Josie's is a lot closer: 4 Stars. On the other hand, the enchilada was just OK. It was pricey for the size. Nonetheless, the salsa had a nice kick to it: 3 Stars for the enchilada, 4 Stars for the salsa. Josie's is a take out place. There is no where to sit inside or outside: 3 Stars. Conversely, in true hole-in-the-wall fashion, the service was friendly and helpful. We inquired about a party platter for our Super Bowl potluck. The lady in front was very nice: 4 Stars. I would definitely return to try a pork tamale and other items. Hopefully, they have the smaller tamales next time. I wanted to wait until my second time eating at Josie's to leave a review. First off I want to commend this place for its customer service and speedy delivery of my food. Usually when my food is prepared too quickly I'm a little apprehensive about the quality of my meal. That's definitely not the case here every thing I ordered was good and piping hot in a good way not in a burn the roof of your mouth way. I ordered the recommended fried tacos both times I came here. They have 3 variations ground beef, chicken and shredded beef. Each and every last one of those tacos were fire . In my opinion the ground beef were the best but all were good. The sauce/ salsa they have is delicious and complement the taco. This place is great and I'll definitely will be returning here soon. read more

I'm not too impressed with the food, it's ok I guess nothing to brag about, however this is the second time I went there, the first time was ok, the second time they had me waiting for my order 35 minutes, when I asked what was taking so long, they told me they lost the ticket and asked me to order again, there were only two customers how could they not notice us sitting waiting for our food still took the another 15 minutes to get our order , I don't think I will ever come back again, the food is not worth going back to, I should have driven to Pepe's in Downey way better food and fast service. Josie's has got it's mojo back people. There was a time when I would hit Josies at least 3x each month. The huge tamales, the awesome chicken tacos, & the tasty taquitos. This was THE mex take out in town. Over time, portions grew smaller & quality went down. It just wasn't as exciting to pick up food there anymore. Other places were popping up left and right more worthy of attention. After reading a recent review of Josie's on Yelp, it gave me hope that the magic had returned. So glad I called today. The chicken tacos were scrumptious like the old days. The chicken taquitos continued to be a go to item. I can confidently recommend Josie's once again as a quality take out location in Gardena. Almost 4 years since my last visit as we were so disappointed how this historic taco stand in Gardena was being run into the ground and the competition in the area was growing Guess the time away and competition was good as now the food seems to be back on par. My chicken taquitos were great. I added my own cheese as there is never quite enough and some tomatoes to hype them up. The taquitos were crispy (other than spots soggy from sitting in the pico de gallo juice) and S T U F F E D with tender chicken. Love them. Mac's chicken tacos looked better than the last ones I remember. Still not sure if as good as good ole days (nor Tilly's and Pepe's) but definitely back on the list for spots to visit. read more
