Fast & good! I wouldn't say the XLB dumplings are the best ever, but the meal as a whole was good. The menu has a mix of both Taiwanese and Chinese dishes. Salted egg yolk tofu - wonderful salted egg yolk flavor but not crispy despite being fried. The Yelp pictures of the salted egg yolk shrimp looked crispy, so I might try that next time. Matsuzaka pork with garlic sauce - Favorite dish! Pork is usually a hit or miss for me because pork from Asian restaurants often taste gamey, which I cannot stand. This dish is made from a very tender piece of meat--I believe it's pork neck? It tastes like the Kobe beef of pork. It's served in pieces atop shredded cucumber and drizzled with a very tasty soy garlic sauce. There are several dishes with matsuzaka pork on the menu and I don't think you'll go wrong with any of them. Beef noodle soup - The beef was nice and tender, and the broth was deliciously savory. The noodles were ok, a tad over cooked. If you're a meat & broth person, come here. If you're more about the noodles, go to QQ noodle next door. I wish I could take the best parts of both and combine them into an ultimate beef noodle soup lol. Pork XLB - I enjoyed the thin and chewy skin but wish the meat and soup were more savory. Joy taught me that loofah can mean more than that something you use in the shower. 6-pack of the loofah shrimp dumplings were juicy and melted in my mouth, like any good XLB. Definitely recommend take-out and eating while it's hot worth the mouth-roof burn. read more

I'm writing this review as I'm eating in my car, it's that good! I got the loofah shrimp and crab pork XLB (juicy dumplings) for takeout and they are not kidding about the juicy part. Just as you think "DANG that's juicy" you hit another pocket of soup. The skin was not too thick and the filling is ample. They definitely do not skimp on anything here. Dumplings came with traditional black vinegar and ginger (already mixed together). Over the phone order was easy and the lady on the other side was so nice! I don't speak Mandarin so I just used the menu letters/numbers and there was no problem. They even confirmed the order with me before hanging up. I'm excited to come back when they open for dining in because I'm sure the dumplings would be even better fresh. A MUST TRY!! read more

We were looking for a dim sum place and this place got pretty good reviews. But it doesn't have your traditional dim sum. It is Shanghai cuisine. The food was surprisedly good. I especially liked the Chow Mein and Beef Roll. It was different from anything I ate. The pork belly was juicy and flavorful. The Shanghai dumplings were the normal dumplings. When we got there for lunch, it was pretty empty. But when we left it was full. The tables are spaced far apart, so we felt good about it. read more

There have been a number of restaurants in this spot that have come and gone. Hopefully this one will stay. They do dumplings very well and I love how they automatically give out the vinegar ginger soy sauce dipping sauce. My favorite dumpling is the shrimp loofah soup dumpling, which is unique and not as heavy as the pork dumplings. Another favorite is the egg yolk tofu - the texture of the pillowy tofu is wonderful! If you're in a large group, another specialty item is the squid taro hot pot. The portion size for the hot pot is humongous and the leftovers make another meal. read more

One of the best XLBs in the Bay. The Loofah shrimp XLBs were extremely fresh and flavorful. Pork XLBs were perfectly juicy. Everything we ordered was made with such great attention to detail and well balanced flavor. You can tell from the first bite that they truly care about their food. It is not easy to keep 麵食tasty when you do take-outs. We haven't had XLBs for months due to COVID-19 pandemic and were so happy that the food we got from this place stays delicious in to-go boxes. Other plus- 1) They use biodegradable boxes for take out 2) They only have one person answering the phone/ taking orders/ greeting customers etc. However the lady was genuinely friendly and cordial to everyone. Omg great find!!! We were craving Din Tai Fung, but they were closed that evening so we looked for another dumpling spot. Man... we lucked out when we found this spot. Friday night and every other place felt busy or was too crowded for us to feel comfortable. I called in and the woman was super friendly! She said come on in! We arrived and there were only a few tables occupied and everyone was socially distant. I honestly felt like we ordered everything off the menu. Two types of pancakes (green onion and beef), XLB, tofu with salted egg, mu shu noodles, dumplings, siu mai, shrimp fried rice and I don't remember the other two dishes, but they were all delicious. The mu shu noodles had thick flat noodles and was really flavorful. The bamboo shoot flavor was strong so if you don't like it, make sure you ask to remove it. The dumplings came out steaming hot and had a good amount of soup in them. The tofu with salted egg was really delicious and honestly not a dish you find at a lot of places except in Asia. Honestly a good alternate to Din Tai Fung dishes... not exactly the same, but definitely a good alternative. read more

Quarantine Eats #8: Ordered takeout from this restaurant for the first time! It was really sad though that it had to be under these circumstances. Located right next to QQ Noodle and taking the place of former Rasa Sayang, Joy Dumpling is a solid chinese food place! Ordered their shrimp fried rice, Pork XLB, Beef Pancake Roll, Gan Bian Si Ji Dou, Salted Egg Yolk Tofu, and Hot and Sour Soup. The order ready almost immediately after I arrived at the plaza 20 minutes later. The smell of the high heat in the fried rice was enough to make my taste buds tingle as the takeout was opened. It was the star of the order! The individual rice grains were pronounced but not dry, and the shrimp were cooked very well. The XLBs were ok, with a good amount of juice inside but the skin was a bit soft for my liking. Beef pancake rolls were spot on, the salted egg tofu had a nice garlic-flavored coating around it, but the Si Ji Dou was a tiny bit overcooked for my taste. The hot and sour soup was delicious though! The individual components (tofu, pork strips, wood ear, egg, bamboo shoots) complemented each other really well and the soup was rich with a slight aftertaste of sourness, thus I highly recommend trying this for youI will definitely return to dine in person once quarantine is over! read more

This is a pretty nice place to have a good quality meal that will get you full and still within a good price range! Came on a Saturday and it was quite crowded, had to wait about 20mins and restaurant was very spacious. Would recommend the fried eggplant basil and the pancakes! We ordered the dumplings and a clay pot dish but it was lacking in flavor, it was a bit bland. But the fried eggplant basil was really good, it went really well with the rice. I did enjoy the pancake with cheese but when we got the order, the cheese hasn't melted yet so I would've preferred the pancakes to be hotter... Soup was still intact despite the packaging and transport, yay! Texture of the filling was a little more fine/minced than I prefer. Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp: 5/5 - really good (can't go wrong with salted egg!), and there was still a light crisp on these no-shell babies. Garlic Pork Tenderloin: 5/5 - also very good, and the some of the pork slices had a bit of lovely fat in them. Taro Squid Rice Noodle Pot was recommend by a friend. The portion is HUGE. We had many bowls in the restaurant, but we still ended up with lots of leftover to bring home. The staff also gave us additional container of soup to go with our leftover. Red Bean Sesame Pancake is my favorite. Crispy and sweet, but not overly sweet. I will order again next time. read more

Juicy Pork Dumplings: 3/5 The soup in these was too gingery. We didn't finish them, but mostly because the other stuff was so good. Potstickers: 3/5 They were just ok, pretty standard. Dongpo Pork: 5/5 Soft pork belly with fat that practically melts in your mouth. Delicious. The buns they came with were okay, but it was kind of messy to eat the pork in the buns. We ended up eating some of the pork just on its own. Basil Eggplant: 5/5 Really, really good. The basil, eggplant, and pork bits (I think?) complement each other extremely well. Called ahead to order take out and it was ready in 20. We got 2 orders of xlb (juicy pork buns), mushu pork chow mein, string beans with garlic and beef roll. Some would say that's too much food for two people. I say those people are wrong. Everything was delicious! The xlb are juicy with plenty of soup and perfect thin skin. They're 6 to an order so plan ahead so no one's fighting over the last one. They traveled really well. The chow mein was tasty but not what I expected, a little less saucy and blander than I'd like but still good. String beans are a highly recommend. Perfect flavor and lots of garlic. My husband really liked the beef rolls which were green onion pancakes rolled with a sauce, sliced beef and cucumber. Their take out process is very hygienic with hand sanitizer at the register. Pleasantly surprised how good the food tasted. My bar is set high and I like clean, fresh and healthy tasting food. Joy Dumpling meets all the marks. Due to covid, we order takeout and it was still delicious and nicely prepared--piping hot! I order the xlb, pork with steam bun, pot stickers and siu mai. All were very tasty and you can tell there were NO fillers such as MSG, sugar or any of that bad stuff. You feel refreshed after eating it. The meat is naturally sweet and fresh!! I was a bit put off by the siu mai since I'm used to the cantonese version, BUT I liked how I felt after eating it. All in all, I will be back! Great food! My brother introduced md to this place earlier this year and I've lost count t of the number of times I've returned. The food is delicious and never greasy nor over/sauced, like many dishes from Chinese restaurants. I generally do t order Kung Pao Chicken but will order it any time from this place. Good spot for dumplings, but dumplings only. I had driven past Joy Dumpling in the past and saw that there were always a good amount of people dining, so I decided to give it a try on a Friday evening. When I arrived at 6:30 PM, there were people seated and dining, but a handful of open tables so there was no wait. They mostly speak Mandarin there, but I was able to communicate fine with them since I don't speak Mandarin. The menu is pretty extensive - they have stir fried dishes, noodles and rice, and of course dumplings. For two people, we ordered the pork XLB, steamed fish dumpling, beef roll, and beef noodle soup. The pork XLB was really tasty and the dumpling skin was super thin. It was full of soup and good flavor. The steamed fish dumplings also had a flavorful filling, and I had never had fish dumplings before this but would definitely recommend. It wasn't too fishy and was balanced with the shrimp and veggies in it too. The beef roll was good, and tasted like a typical beef roll. The beef noodle soup was okay - I really enjoyed the flavors of the soup and the beef was tender, but the noodles themselves were kinda soggy and didn't have good chew to it. Overall it was $42 for those 4 items before tip. Service was also good, with servers coming by and taking away empty dishes pretty frequently. I would recommend coming for dumplings, but maybe not other items. Parking is in a shared plaza, and on Friday night it was a little busy, but if you drive farther into the plaza then there's more spaces available versus right in front of the restaurant. read more

Exceptional food and service! I have not eaten Chinese food this good since visiting Chengdu. The broth in the pork dumplings is perfectly savory. The fish dumplings have a balanced mix of herbs. The tofu vegetable pot has the softest complex texture and flavor, better than butter. I asked for a recommendation on an additional dish. The server was very kind to quickly recommend the garlic green beans. They are tender and flavorful. Great first experience. read more
