There are few places in Columbus that I have tried harder to finally get - the hours here are a bit wonky, but if you can make it work, it is well worth it. The Kati Roll was absolutely amazing - the crunchy exterior made for such a good contrast from the mushy interior. The flavor profile was so unique too - rarely do you get those kind of things (lamb kebab, egg, pickled onion, maple chaat yogurt, chutneys) for breakfast/lunch but alas I tried it and I would do it again 1000x over. It just WORKS. Tried my sister and cousins meals as well - the tacos and (not) pad thai, also super unique and delicious. The decor inside is undeniably creative and gives off a really authentic vibe to the place. Not a ton of room to sit - and typically the line is fairly long - but they file through it fast and make it well worth your time. GO GO GO!!! read more

Mmmmmm! I finally had time to try Joya's - owner Avishar's brainchild that he opened after his stint on Top Chef a few years ago. Met Yelp friends for a later breakfast, so there were seats inside (albeit, in general, there's one very small two-top table, and three or four bar seats, so space is a premium here), but the four front patio tables were occupied and had to wait about 10 minutes for one to open up; at any rate, no biggy. I went with their Breakfast Sandwich and it was very good! I did feel like it was a bit lacking on the price-to-quantity ratio, but now that I think about it, $13 is pretty fair considering the costs of products and labor nowadays. The flavors melded really well, no odd spicy pops, great cheesy eggs, definitely would get that sucker for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Also tried the Nitro Chai, and it was very good! I've only heard good things about Joya's and was excited to finally go! It's a nice area, nice cozy restaurant, and warm ambiance. There is limited seating and limited bar seating and they mostly do to-go orders. I'm sad that the hours are so limited and I can't go after work, but would have to take the day off or go on the weekend. There's street parking around the area and other shopping and dining spaces. The menu is short and simple, you really can't go wrong with any choice. I got the Kati roll, which is incredible, and so delicious. It's made well, has a unique and super flavorful sweet and tangy sauce and the lamb is so good. I also got the milk chai and that was good, I feel like it could have used a bit more spice. I tried the nitro chai and really like it, it's a bit sweetener and bolder in flavor. For the roll and a cup of chai, it's about $22+tip, which is a tad expensive but really delicious food. I want to try everything else because I've only heard good things, but I'll have to try to find time during their hours. Staff was nice and service was pretty quick and easy. They don't have a ton of seating, but we went really early and got a table but it quickly filled up to no seating room. I recommend this for breakfast, lunch, a quick bite, casual date, and a unique and flavorful food experience. What a great addition to Old Worthington and Columbus food scene! Chef Avishar has done it again. I have been waiting to try this place for months and was lucky to find my way during my birthday weekend. It was a treat to say the least. Ambiance is cute cafe style. It was packed on Saturday at 12pm and we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. I tried the Kathi Roll was glove bomb in my mouth and it was large enough to share. This is the only place in Columbus that does it and does so much justice to the Kolkata street food, I have had back in India. It's packed with flavors that works harmoniously together. The Roti is crispy and flakey. The lamb kebabs inside was juicy and well seasoned. The mint chutney and pickled onion added so much flavor to the roll. The sauce has a sweetness and kick to it and you get the punchy pickled onions between bites. I also tried the drip coffee Joya's way which reminded of the South Indian filter coffee you get back home. Another of my must try drink is Joya's milk chai. read more

I finally got a chance to make my way to Joya's! I was interested to see how they'd make such a small space work, and they managed to make it cozy without feeling cramped. There's not a ton of space to stand at the counter is multiple people are waiting to order, so I'd recommend doing the classic anxious millennial move; look up their menu before going so you'll have a good idea of what they have and what you'd like. Even with my menu prep before going in, I still panicked and ordered the first thing on the menu. I ended up with breakfast sandwich and I'm glad I did! The bun and eggs are soft, the bacon adds some texture and saltiness, and the sauce here really stands out. Herby and just the right amount of spice. The staff was very nice and let my kid order just a side of toast and bacon, he's not a very adventurous eater so I'm thankful we found a place where we're both happy. I've come here several times. There are a few things you can expect. They do not take orders over the phone. You have to come in to order carry out. Breakfast or brunch only. The compact space can feel very cramped most times. People waiting for orders or seats. 3 tables in front, bar and counter seating. It fills up fast so carry out is the best option. Even if you are lucky enough to grab a seat, it can get loud inside, especially towards end of week. If it's crowded, it'll take about 15 to 25 minutes to get your order. The Asian inspired food is very good and not your usual breakfast/brunch fare. They don't scrimp on quality or quanity; that's good because it's not cheap. I.e. Double burger, no sides, $16. If you don't mind coming to a cramped & noisy spot (most times), serving very good out of the ordinary breakfast/brunch fare....this place is for you. read more

Really awesome staff and a cute place! I got the Bobby's breakfast sandwich. The egg was sooo good. I thought the flavor as a whole was pretty subtle but appreciated the fresh ingredients. There is a specific type of buzz surrounding Joya's that feels a lot like reverent awe. Now that I've dipped into this warm spot on a bright, frigid morning and tasted these flavors, I get it. This small High Street cafe may be a foodie Mecca. The menu is small and prices appear quite high. However, if you think of it as paying for flavor and quality, they are spot on. I had the vegetarian Cheesy double Crunch tacos at the server's recommendation. It was beyond bliss! I also had a Thai iced tea, which was superb. I wanted one of everything on the menu. In a quaint little shop in Westerville, lies an incredible brunch spot. It is primarily a carry out spot with a few tables outside but the food is incredible. They serve a decent chai but the star of the show based on the few things that I've tried is their fried rice! Their fried rice is so reminiscent of my grandma's cooking that I had to do a double take and make sure that my grandma isn't manning the wok. Seasoned with a complex spice profile and fried with sweet soy sauce, it packs an oomph in terms of flavour profile. Plus, they had a properly fried wok egg that is brown on the outside while still runny on the inside. Their chicken nuggets and bacon bits are ok though but this still makes for a very good bowl. The only thing is that it is on the pricier side with it being $17 a bowl for the fried rice. Would definitely be coming back to check out more of it's menu!!! read more

You know when something is so good you don't want to let the secret out? Well, I debated keeping this one to myself but here goes. The best breakfast sandwich and iced coffee I have ever had in Columbus. There...I said it. Perfection takes time. This is not a place to go if you are in a rush. Took about 25 minutes to order and receive a breakfast sandwich. The barista was not the friendliest, but her skills made up for it. They use Thunderkiss coffee and if you order it "Joya's way" they add sweet evaporated milk. I literally cannot wait to go back. Tip: Check the hours online before you go. I am in the worthington area maybe once a month and every time I'm there I stop by Joya to get the Katy roll. It's a flavor bomb!! My husband likes the breakfast sandwich a lot, but he also agreed that the Katy roll is next level. It does contain lamb, which I don't find to be gamey, but if that's a concern then it might not be for you. Joya is a pretty small cafe and honestly every time I'm there, which usually is on a weekday, no matter what time it's always busy. We've never successfully called for a to-go order as they're always too busy in the store to pick up. So we normally go to Joya to order then walk around the area! It only takes fifteen minutes or so, so the wait is not bad at all. It is also street parking so keep that in mind! But food is 11/10!!! read more

Beyond the traditional American breakfast is this place that serves Bengali-American food with some fairly familiar dishes like fried rice and breakfast sandwiches, but with a twist. We tried the Joya's Milk Chai that is not too sweet, my favorite level of sweetness, but very soothing, as well as the Thai Tea which is fairly fragrant. We also shared the Joya's Breakfast Sandwich which has generous amounts of egg and lots of flavor from potato pav to their special sauce and creamy herb salsa. This breakfast sandwich is NEXT LEVEL! The egg was so fluffy and the sauce on it had just the right amount of spice. We came on a Saturday during the market, placed our order and gave them our number, and then walked around the market. It worked out perfectly. They texted us when it was ready. The sandwich was delicious. I could've had 10 more. I didn't rate it 5 stars only due to the price. $13 for a sandwich only is steep. The sandwich is also small. 1st thing for my birthday was to check out Chef Avishar's newest restaurant in Worthington. I have been looking forward to it for a while, and am happy to say it was delicious! Fried rice: they had both spicy and non-spicy options. I got the spicy one and I really liked that hot kick~ the fried chicken was well-seasoned, the rice texture was perfect, and the portion was big too. Definitely my top favorite dish here~ Breakfast sandwich: the egg was so fluffy and the sauce was very flavorful~ I got the regular size, but they also offer a mini size. Toast in a cup: It reminded me of a type of street food in China (jiān bǐng guǒ zi). There were a lot of flavors and textures going on~ it was a little messy to eat, but it made me happy~ Samosa: this was one of the dishes not on the menu, but on the "specials" counter. They had chicken or vegetable for filling. I got the vegetable one, and it was tasty~ Potato scotch egg: it was another special for the day. Instead of the typical meat around the egg, it was mashed potatoes. SO GOOD! Things seemed quite busy, and the food came out a little slow when I visited. But since they just newly opened, the team is still trying to get into the groove in figuring out service. Fully understandable and still worth the wait! Overally I appreciate Avishar and his team staying authentic to themselves in creating these dishes. Finally checked this out for lunch. Went on a Friday, ordered to dine in and got seated at the bar within :10. Food was awesome, I had the Kati roll and my wife had the rice dish. Loved them both. The staff is really friendly. The space has a great feel, transplanted me out of Ohio which was an added bonus. Chef Avishar did it again. Joya's' is my absolute favorite brunch in the Columbus area. Get the fried rice in Danny's way and pair it with an iced latte. Period. Good portion as well for the price. I just wish they can have more seating so I can bring all of my friends here lol. The kitchen staff are the friendliest people ever. Amazing food and ambiance! Even though this cute, inspired spot is small, if you get lucky, you can snag the window seat, littered with trinkets and books. I got the $13 breakfast sandwich, the cheapest menu item that isn't a pastry, and it was very good! The egg was extremely creamy and the sauce was addictive. I tried the vegetarian version with a big hash brown in the middle and highly recommend that version of the sandwich. It also has a little more kick than the original. The cashier was very nice and accommodating to my questions about a decaf drink, which ended up being delightful! This place is AMAZING! There's a line, but it moves quickly - clearly a very popular place. The Joya's latte and Rose Mocha were fantastic, one of the best latte's I've enjoyed in a while! The breakfast sandwich and kati roll were our favorites - the food is so flavorful here, the bread was excellent and omg the egg was so soft and fluffy. The toast in a box was good but felt slightly heavy with all the meats and flavor, definitely good to try and share! Have you ever gone somewhere to eat and enjoyed it so much that you made plans to return asap? That was my experience going to Joya's cafe for the first time a couple weeks ago. I love breakfast/brunch food and came here by myself for breakfast to see if it really lived up to the hype on the Columbus subreddit. It did. The first time, I ordered the fried rice and a milk chai. I'm so glad the fried rice portion is as big as it is because it was plenty for two meals. I savored it, though. Those big hunks of bacon, the perfectly fried egg, the smokiness...all heavenly. I was very pleased with the chai, which I rarely order anywhere because it's usually too sweet. Theirs, however, has the perfect amount of sweetness--just a hint. The very next weekend I returned with my husband because I knew they'd like the food as much as I did. We split an order of the fried rice, each got a milk chai, and also ordered the Manchurian chicken sandwich. Let me tell you, when we each bit into our half of the sandwich we both knew that this was our new favorite brunch place. As far as food goes, it's a 5/5 for me. I only knocked off a star because the barstool seating is a challenge. Joya's is fairly small, so the bar-style seating that comprises the back half of the cafe does make a lot of sense. However, they are very smooth, and I found myself constantly working to not just slide right off of them. There is a foot rest on the bottom of each stool, but the most effective way that I found to stay seated without sliding off was to press my foot against the footrest on the stool next to me. If there was a footrest on the bar itself, that would have been a tremendous help. read more

My goal is to try every item on the menu. I'm 33% through it so far and everything has been phenomenal. You won't find food like this anywhere else, and all of it is amazing. Everyone should try this spot for a quick breakfast/lunch. They have fit a surprising amount of seating in the small space, but given the popularity, be prepared to take your food to-go. In case you miss it, they have regular water and sparkling water on tap for free in the back by the kitchen. For a fun coffee treat, I recommend the Cafe de Olla. read more
