Wasn't expecting much from a sushi spot around this area, but it actually wasn't bad! The selection was solid and it's definitely a good spot for a bigger group or crowd. Casual, easy, and overall a nice option when you're in the area!

Came here for lunch, and had a few sushi rolls. The service, ambience and menu was excellent. The food was great! The only thing I didn't like was that the rolls were falling apart when we tried to eat them and it was messy. I had to use a fork to get the food in my mouth. I always enjoy using chop sticks, but this would have taken me all day. That said, the flavors were great and it was really lovely.

Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Walked in on a Tuesday around 6:30 and was promptly seated. The waitress was kind and provided quick service. We got one dinner special with california roll and tonkatsu. Wowow the tonkatsu sauce was great! The lion king was fantastic with great flavors and well cooked.

It's been about a year and a half since I've been to this restaurant and it used to be my favorite when I was in the area. I was very excited to be in the area and to try it again but I was pretty disappointed with the visit and with all of the changes. It was 8 pm on a friday night so the restaurant was understandably busy so I was pleasantly surprised to be seated right away unfortunately the table was not wiped down. The server did take care of it as soon as she noticed. The service was fast and friendly. The disappointing part was the food and prices. Understandable that prices has gone up just like everywhere else, but it was sad to see that they got smaller. The food still tasted great but it was hard to justify with the increased cost and smaller portions.

Randomly found this place while going to CVS. We got the Yellowtail belly carpaccio was so fresh and big portions. Mango crunch roll , garlic tuna, miso soup and salmon nigiri all were amazingly fresh and good portions. Top 3 fav sushi's I've ever had. It's up there with the fresh sushi in Hawaii. Friendly staff and clean restaurant. 10/10 we will definitely be coming back.

The sushi was okay, I would rate it about a 7 out of 10. We ordered two rolls, the shrimp tempura and the Philadelphia roll. Personally, I felt the rolls were a bit small for the price compared to other sushi spots. The waiter was very sweet, but they definitely need more staff. The place was not very packed, yet the waiter seemed overwhelmed and occasionally forgot which tables the rolls were going to. Our personal favorite was the shrimp tempura roll.

Joyce's served superior sushi, without a doubt. But I took a star off for price, which is insane. When you see billboards along the highway you realize how they're paying for those! And another star for shoving Christian religion down diners' throats. I resent anyone pushing any religion in a restaurant, but especially surprised to see scripture verses on a Japanese menu. It's a turnoff for me.

I just left from here and WOW aside from the sushi being delicious and fresh, the customer service was amazing. So friendly, my child was even given a toy. Friendly faces, warm welcomes and good quality food. The place was clean and fancy. The sushi chef even came to our table to check on us. Our server Hannah was such a sweetheart. Love the verses on the menu. 10/10 recommend!

Was in the area for a couple of weeks visiting & this place was so good, I came here twice! The restaurant inside is very pretty & welcoming. The staff was very friendly & constantly came to check on us. The sushi was amazing. We shared 3 different rolls & each one was perfect. The fish was so fresh. One of the best sushi rolls I've had in a long time. My favorite roll was the firecracker! A must visit if in the Palm Springs area

The food was delicious. The staff were all super welcoming! It's located where Mario's Italian restaurant used to be-- awesome vibes. We finally got to see the robot waitress yay!!

Red plastic cups. The server pushing gray dish tubs. Soda cooler on entry. $40 for chicken teriyaki.

After waiting around 20 minutes, I decided to just grab a seat at the bar, and I'm actually glad I did. There was no wait, and even though the restaurant was packed, my food came out really fast. Jon was my primary server. He was polite but was not attentive, I didn't feel like we connected much during the meal. The front staff was very friendly, though, and helped me with some recommendations. I ordered the guacamole with chips and salsa, fried whole jalapeño, chile relleno, and rice and beans. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well seasoned. The guacamole was really good, the rice and beans had a lot of flavor, and the fried jalapeño with the habanero sauce had just the right amount of heat. If you like spicy food, I'd definitely recommend trying it. The chile relleno was recommended by Alvaro, and he told me it reminds him of his grandma whenever he eats it. I really liked hearing that because it made the recommendation feel personal, and he was absolutely right, it was delicious. Huge shoutout to Alvaro. He wasn't even my primary server, but he kept an eye on me, checked in, helped with recommendations, and made sure everyone around the bar was taken care of. He was just genuinely friendly and easy to talk to, and that stood out to me. For dessert, I tried the Pan de Elote for the first time, again on Alvaro's recommendation. I had never tried it before, but trust me, hands down, it was really good. I'm glad he convinced me to give it a try because it was the perfect way to finish the meal. The kitchen deserves a shoutout too. Everything came out cooked well and looked great. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and has both indoor and outdoor seating, and I thought the prices were pretty reasonable. I've been to a few highly rated places around Palm Springs that looked great on paper but didn't quite live up to the reviews, so it was nice to finally have a meal that actually delivered. Good food, good atmosphere, and genuinely nice people. Alvaro definitely made the experience more memorable!!!!

We honestly felt like we paid full size prices for kid size meals and left still hungry. We had another appointment immediately afterward, so we didn't have time to order anything else, which made it even more disappointing. We've been to the Azusa location, and the difference in portion sizes is surprising! The servings there are easily 2-3 times the amount. For what we paid in Palm Springs, we definitely expected more. The food itself was enjoyable, but the value and portion sizes really missed the mark for us.

We wanted to grab a drink at the Window Bar (not knowing that was its actual name, but the conversation we had with the bartender about that window shining too much light at certain parts of the morning definitely gave me a chuckle in hindsight). We happened to be a bit early since he had not been able to finish setting up shop yet. We went ahead and waited until he was ready without rushing him because we ourselves weren't in any rush at all. Surrounded by a ton of nice interesting artwork, it was a pure joy to enjoy a drink or two in this environment. The bar can be found at the corner on the other side of the hotel concierge in plain sight from such a big space for a lobby, directly left upon entrance through the front. Since it was slow in the morning, we were able to chat it up with the bartender and even explore a bit of experimentation in the form of a particular top secret cocktail that every mixologist knows. I definitely exercised my etiquette and reading the conditions to even suggest it. He couldn't be any nicer about our time with him. So yeah, Christopher H. from 9/9/18, I don't know what you're talking about. I make it a point to visit the bar at any Kimpton location nowadays. I always seem to have a good time. They don't pick up the phone at all, so don't bother calling. They do, however, take walk-ins if you're willing to wait. All part of the optics and over hype. We brought our own bottle of Veuve and they were great about putting it on ice for us and opened it for us so we could sip while we waited for a table. All excellent, but it came at a $49 corkage fee before tip! Geez! When we were seated, the host made a big deal about our birthdays gave us BOTH handwritten birthday cards and told the waiter to take good care of us because we were celebrating a double birthday and seated us at a center spot at the bar, which we loved! A hit! Overall, the service and ALL the staff were great, but to be honest. some of the food was hit and miss. The menu is somewhat underwhelming. They seem to be mostly known for their deviled eggs. Okay, I love a deviled egg, but so what? Every time I'd ask anyone about Bar Cecil, they'd say, "Well. their deviled eggs are good." We should have known then, but we wanted to see for ourselves what the hype was about. It's French because they serve, escargot, steak frites, and caviar service, but it's really a bunch of different food items that aren't really cohesive -- deviled eggs with dates and sage, Thai curry muscles, smoke pork chop, cacio e pepe. WTF? The best things we had were the oysters, grilled artichokes and the Bernaise sauce on the steak frites was spot on, but the steak itself was chewy and difficult to cut with a steak knife -- a miss that could have been a hit. Not worth the price point. We also ordered the Thai curry muscles, which were really good until the last six muscles, which were sandy and gritty. Again another miss, that could have been a hit. The waiter did take them off the bill, but then at the very end of our "double birthday celebration," the waiter asked, "Are you ready for desert?" My friend responded, "Well, I'm pretty full. Is it complimentary?" And he responded, "It is, but I didn't want to ruin the surprise." So we both ordered desert -- I ordered a "special" desert that wasn't on the menu. A cookie ice cream thing and she ordered the pavlova. Mine was okay. She loved hers. Again it could have been a massive hit-- instead it was a massive miss! We were charged $27 for our two "complimentary" deserts before tax and tip! Oh well, we didn't haggle and paid our bill, but only tipped 20%. We would have tipped an extra $50-$100 because it was our birthdays and we would have tipped all the comped amounts to the wait staff, figuring we would have paid those costs plus tax and tip on top of that. Too bad. Overall, I wouldn't wait in long lines any time soon for this experience. It's was just a meh for us.

We wandered around for a bit looking completely confused until someone finally took pity on us and pointed out the unmarked dark door. Apparently, if you know, you know! Once inside, it has such a fun Prohibition-era speakeasy feel. The atmosphere is dark, intimate, and very cool, and our bartender was fabulous and completely played along with the vibe. When I pulled out my phone to take a picture, he looked at me very seriously and said, "No pictures, please." I immediately put my phone away! Later, when our drinks arrived, I cautiously asked, "Am I allowed to take a picture of these?" He laughed and said, "Of course! I was just giving you the vibe!" We had just come from a slightly odd service experience at Workshop Kitchen (see that review!), so for a second I thought, "Oh no, here we go again!" Thankfully, not at all. The drinks were great, the atmosphere was fun, and the bartender made the experience even better. Such a fun hidden little speakeasy and definitely a place I would recommend. We'll absolutely be back!

I've heard a lot of things about this place but have never been. Same concept with other speakeasy…read moreas in hidden doors, special word, a knock and so on. Well this one, located in the Arena area of Palm Springs. Theres no name or signs anywhere. You just have to know where to look. Try opening doors and see which one opens. We were walking back to the car when I noticed the doors. As l had heard so much about it but didn't know where it was. Well lucky me, I opened the door with the first try. I had an idea on where it was but didn't know where. That's where the 4 stars come in. As I had the door open, I could hear from the bar area a gentleman yelling out shut the door. Ok, I get the dark hidden concept but yelling out like that, kind of rude. Do you not want people in. It was about 11pm when we walked in. You enter and it's a dark hallway straight to the bar. That'll be what you see right when you walk in. Place is covered in a dark damask wallpaper and only light are small fixtures. So dark and demure. Bar area is the main attraction with all the seating. There's a few hi tops along the wall as well as some seating in the back area. I'm not sure how big the place is as we only went straight to the bar and sat down. The menu is printed to resemble vintage newspaper. The dark mysterious room with tufted seats and dim lights is what this place is all about. But of course you can't leave out the drinks. Centered of the bar wall, there's Udo Kier watching you. Anyways, down to the drinks. Printed on the newspaper was a perfect touch. I went with the pisco sour and we had the bartender make something else with mescal. An updated smoke and mirror I believe. Drinks were excellent which we expected. The whole place is really dark and mysterious which was a nice touch. It wasn't that busy when we arrived Friday night. A couple of people in the back area which we definitely could hear...lol... There was no list to get in as we just walked in. The only downfall with the rating, the rude remark when we walked in with shutting the door all the way from the bar area. Yes we heard it from outside. There were two bartenders working , but we did chat with one of them and she was a sweetheart. Informed us that they too will be closed down for the summer holiday but will be renovating. Places out here closes at least a month for summer holidays and with the slow season due to the heat. First impression of this place, besides the rude remark was we really liked it. The drinks were great and tasty. It's not super big but more intimate. Can get a little loud as people are talking over each other. Could be the alcohol.... It's someplace I would visit again with people who I know will appreciate it.

Also Sunday brunch can never go wrong. Right in the heart of town along the main strip of downtown. Perfect for people watching while dining on the patio. Be advised, it does get hot but they do have both the main covered patio and street covered patio. Both with mister working the whole time. If you prefer ac, they have indoor dining as well. We like to enjoy the sun and people watching which patio is alway a good option for us. Of course we make friends with the waiter as they alway take care of us. Everyone here from the staff, waiter and waitress, and the owners are all very sweet and friendly. Menu is alway great. You have both the breakfast and brunch menu. We tend to come for them mainly but have never tried dinner here. Of course the bubbly is always a good start. A bottle with three juice options and fresh fruit for adornment. Strawberries and blueberries for the bougie bubbly effect. And for the price, it's worth it. Food wise, we went with the chicken sandwich with salad and the burger with fruit. A side of fries is definitely a must even if it comes with it. Portion for the sandwich was massive. Nice thick piece of grilled and marinaded chicken breast filled with lettuce, tomatoes, onion and avocados on toasted bread. It's massive even when they sliced it in halves. And the burger, two nice patties with lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion and bacon. A classic and it was delicious. I'm not a burger person but every now and then a bite is worth it. The food has alway been excellent. Crowd is alway nice and bubbly. It's cute chit chatting with the other guest nearby. Also we found out that they close for about two months in July and August as that's their holiday time. Glad we made it before it happened. It's a nice place for brunch as it's alway our go to whenever we can't figure out something.

We had the strangest experience here. We were in town for a friends 40th and we had seen great…read morereviews about The Thirsty Palms. We walked up, no reservation. The lady at the door told us inside would probably be loud because there were two bigger tables in there. It was hot outside, so we decided to sit inside anyway. We almost immediately regretted that and wished we'd sat outside. This place is not made for being busy on the inside. It's just too loud. But, cute in there. Our server, who we later learned was the bartender and not a usual server, took our drink orders. A few of us ordered the Hugo spritz, one gal got a beer, and a few other cocktails were ordered. We got our drinks and they were enjoyable. The problem began when we were ordering food. One girl in our group is Celiac and literally can not eat gluten. She ordered the salmon and asked to be sure the potato salad was gluten free. If things are fried or prepared in the same place as gluten objects, she is incredibly ill for weeks afterwards. She has to be super careful. His response was, "I think so." She told him she was celiac and had a true gluten allergy, and she needed him to be sure. Meanwhile, the menu boasts about how they proudly serve gluten free options right on the bottom. He then said, "yeah, I'm pretty sure it is." He genuinely did not seem concerned. She ended up ordering it but felt uncomfortable about whether or not it was really safe for her. Another girl at the end of the table asked him to please double check, as it was really a serious allergy. He said, "Yeah I am going to ask the chef. I wasn't going to just ignore it and make all you girls mad." He had the snarkiest tone when he said it, and it was incredibly, incredibly rude. That right there gave us a bad taste in our mouths. He came back out and said he checked with the chef, and it was indeed gluten free. Food came out and all tasted good. But when a restaurant prides itself on gluten free options, and then makes it so hard to order, it's not a good look. We wouldn't be back.
