Karaoke Wednesday. It's a decent clean bar and the karaoke host was good. The vocals were submerged by too much echo on the effects. I would have given the bar more stars, but the bartender and cocktail waitress were terribly inattentive. We literally could only order one drink at a time (there was a group of four of us) because they kept walking away. It' a great way to prevent over serving, repeat customers, and tips. Ok, I bumped the review up a star. We checked in on yelp to get a free Jell-O shot and were informed by the waitress that they are no longer honoring this offer. It was our first time ever to this bar, we came for a show that our friends were putting on and the place was awesome despite some of the reviews here. Everyone of the bar staff was awesome, the waitress especially was very nice and courteous, she always would ask if we needed anything when she came by. The food was excellent as well, you don't always get the best food at bars, some is sub par, but their food was dank, and they brought us all two things of ranch with food without having to ask, I thought that was so awesome, I never have enough ranch other places. This place was awesome! They had different games in different TVs they played different types of music. You couldn't hear the games which is a con but it still a great place. It's dark, and cool. The bar is inexpensive. We were even offered dollar beer because they wanted to get rid of the Keg. The wings. Now you may like Buffalo Wild Wings or hooters. The thing about their wings is that they have NO meat on their bones. At JPs they had meat and they were juicy. They were delicious. We also had the fried pickles and it was a pickle cut in 4s but it was delicious and juicy. I love their food and their drinks. We are definitely coming back to this place! JPs is a great neighborhood bar and is THE BAR in Tierrasanta. It's home away from home. Caitlin, the awesome, amazing bartender, always greets you with a smile and makes you feel welcome. Even if you haven't been in in a long while, she'll remember what you drink and handles the bar like a pro. The bar is setup well with a huge horseshoe bar in the middle, pool tables on one end and then seats and karaoke on the other. This place is a local bar that is more of a chill spot in the sense of what the environment is like. There isn't a lot of beer choices if that's your thing however service from the bartenders here are very friendly and very quick. This is the perfect place if your just looking to hang out, have a couple of drinks, and watch the game. If you are looking for a more "upbeat" place then this most likely isn't the place for you. They do have two pool tables here if that is the kind of thing you are looking for and don't want to deal with a giant crowd of people fighting for the tables. I love this bar. Although it is the only bar in Tierrasanta...it is a great place to go. The girls that work there at night (Alisa, Alicia, and Micha) are a riot to watch work. You get your drinks on time and if you are lucky you get jokes to along with it. The door guys are always entertaining, something could happen but who knows if they are outside or hanging out in the parking lot when stuff happens... The girls treat me well and they take no shit from guys or girls acting like amatuers. I always feel welcomed there, even though I don't really know a lot of the people that go there. The staff makes the experience great. Tuesday, Darrick plays good music and you can always count on the blond and red head on Friday night to wear something that sets the place on fire. Went to this place for Cinco De Mayo, we all had a great time & got a bunch of $2 beers! Just honestly wanted to have some drinks with our group & sing a little! Then I went to the bathroom and the lady running karaoke went up to my friends and started running her mouth on how I didn't like her when I never even talked to her? JP's is a great dive bar nestled away in Tierra Santa next to the Vons off Clairemont Mesa Blvd. My friends suggested this place for St. Patty's Day. Wasn't sure what to expect to be honest. I'm a huge fan of dive bars so I was very excited. Sure enough this place was LEGIT. Spacious dive bar with pool tables, music and they have live karaoke also! My friends rocked the karaoke here one random night and everyone was cheering and coming by giving kudos to them. It's always a great time at JP's and I high suggest you giving this place a try. Started coming here for the 50 cent wings on Thursdays and just kept coming back no matter what day of the week it is! Always get good service from Robin or any of the girls working the bar. They seem to know a lot of the regulars names which is cool. Some of these review say you need to be white to get service here but that's totally not true!! All of them help you. Some nights they don't have waiter service and you need to go up to the bar and order (no big deal!!) they do karaoke nights on Fridays (I think) and it's fun to hear people sing some of the guys are really good at it! Usually the cooks bring out our food but still ask if we need anything else or bring us a roll of paper towels for our wings and let us know that the rest of the food is coming back! I'm glad we found this little hole in the wall place!! I wouldn't let the bad reviews influence your thoughts on coming to this place! Came here to check out the menu for happy hour, wasn't too impressed. It's way too dark in here. Ordered 7 pc chicken wings that were flavored by buffalo sauce. Took almost 30 mins to come out. Atleast the guy who brought out the food was nice and apologized about it. Won't ever be back here. A really fun place to kick back and get schnockered with friends. The entire staff is very friendly. I've talked with bartenders, kitchen staff, and security and they're all at the VERY least professionally courteous, and more often amiable and engaging. The place does get loud, especially later in the evening, so I wouldn't recommend it for a first date where you're trying to hold a conversation. But if you're looking to enjoy a few drinks while enjoying the chatter of other patrons, watch the game (and they're pretty nice about finding whatever game you're looking for), or do the karaoke thing, I'd definitely recommend this place. I'd say the clientele are mostly age 30+, though it gets a tad younger on karaoke nights. Can't speak for live music nights, surprisingly haven't made it to JP's any of those nights. DJ nights are pretty lame in my experience. The food here in the grand scheme of things isn't mind-blowing, that's what restaurants are for, but it's damn tasty and impressive for a dive/sports bar. Buffalo chicken wings are the go-to during game time, always such a great a flavor. Breakfast burritos and mimosas for NFL Sunday brunch were the highlight of my week this past season. Good ol' neighborhood dive. I've driven by this place probably thousands of times. I was missing out for sure. It a lot bigger than I expected inside, which was a pleasant surprise. I expected something smaller and dingy, which wasn't the case. Drinks were decent. Pricing is right on point. Not too high, not too low. First experience was on a karaoke night, which was entertaining. They have it set up in the main seating area so you can be strategic about where you wanna watch (if at all). I called the day before and just let them know and said I would come in an hour earlier to save tables since we would have 20 to 30 people there for a few hours (all heavy drinkers and big soenders). This is my local pub - mostly all regular locals from the neighborhood who are awesome to b around. This place is just like "cheers" where everyone knows your name. Some Friday nights they have a live band! Great prices on drinks and pretty good bar food (prices went up on the food) Thursday nite is .50 cent wing night .The only place I go for a drink in t town !! Just wish they had more "specials" throughout the week besides their $5 burger.. Update - they r finally painting the inside of the bar which has been long overdue. My husband and I started coming here about a year and a half ago. The bartenders and our server, Robin, have always made us feel comfortable and welcome. They are all attentive, friendly, and after coming here 2 times a week, 2 weeks in a row, we already became regulars. When we would sit down, bar or table, we would be greeted and asked if we wanted our usual. We now come in every Thursday for the $.50 wings, and to visit with our favorite server (Robin). WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!! I've never felt so disrespected by an employee of ANY business in my life. I've experienced bad service before but this tops it off. I'm not the type to write an angry review but omg...I feel like this needs to be brought up. I came here with a group of people for my friend's graduation celebration. This bar is a self seated bar/restaurant so we had to find seats on our own which was difficult since it was pretty crowded at the time. My friends waited near a table and the waitress, Robin already greeted us with a negative vibe. Actually...she didn't greet us at all. She basically was about to give our table away to another group until we said that we waited there first and we had a big party. After we all got situated, we decided to forget about what happened and was still friendly to her. However, she took a very long time to come back to us to take our orders. My friend had to go up to the bar to get cups and a pitcher of water. After probably 15 minutes, she came back and finally took everyone's orders. After ordering, we finished our water already since we had a long wait so I asked Robin nicely if she can refill the pitcher of water. She responded in an irritated tone "just leave it on the table!" Never did she bring us another pitcher... My friend had to go back up to the bar and ask the other bartender to get us water. We also had to get utensils for ourselves.. We still tried to have a good time and not let that lady ruin our night so we began to take photos. As my sister was taking pictures for my group of friends, Robin walked passed us in the middle of our picture and mumbled "No time for that"! She also lightly shoved my friend and told her to get out of the way. At the end of the meal, she came up to us and put her hand out in an attitude way and said to us "uh are you done with any of this?". It seemed like our table was the only table that got this sort of treatment. I can understand if a waitress was not attentive because they were overwhelmed and stressed but her condescending actions were so deliberate and specifically directed towards us. She was so much more attentive and actually smiled when serving other tables. We finally left after all that! I cannot believe any employee would ever treat their customers like that. Seems like the only bar (literally) in the area, but once in you will find a diverse array of folks and a little bartender named Alicia that will kick your ass if you so much as fuck with her. Attention Kitchen and Owner!!!! I just had a hamburger at JPs the other day and what a disappointment. It is really unfortunate that the other kitchen closed because the replacement is a definite downgrade. The quality of the meat is substandard - there are things in the meat that should not be there. 6 French fries on the plate is definitely not a decent order.
