Shrimp & Pork Siu Mai - yum! Very big
    Hiromi R.

This place was wonderful! Fresh ingredients, good portions, good prices - this place was a win! My family and I shop at the next door Ralph's all the time, and we finally ventured in this restaurant to fulfill a dim-sum craving. Interior is clean, quiet with ambiance-friendly music, and friendly staff. Great first impression! They have a lunch menu as well as featured items with pictures, which helped tremendously when picking out items as I don't always know the names. Here's what we ordered between the two of us and it was more than enough food: - Har gow - very tasty with generous shrimp. Loved the fresh flavors. Will recommend! - steamed bbq pork buns - could have a bit more filling and a bit bread-y in my opinion but still tasty - pork & shrimp siu mai - much bigger than I expected, great flavors and juicy. - Thai fried rice - I don't usually like pineapple in my food, but the combination of raisin/curry/pineapple worked really well together. If you like Thai and curry flavors, I'd recommend this - broccoli with oyster sauce - fresh vegetables and good flavor, I liked this dish! Service was wonderful. Our server was very friendly, offered refills on our drinks without asking, and was attentive when needed. Will definitely come back to try more items!

Found this gem a while back and was glad to have another dim sum place in the area. The interior is narrow but spacious. The staff is friendly and very kid friendly. They even have plastic plates for kids. The dim sum was average, not bad but not amazingly good. The dim sum was a pretty decent size but kept falling apart.

We came here on a Sunday for lunch and got seated right away. We got the following items: - sticky rice wrap - shrimp dumpling - shrimp and pork siu mai - steamed BBQ pork buns - fish porridge The portion is actually really big, which really surprised me! However, the majority of the dishes we had were very mediocre. The sticky rice wrap was especially disappointing since the rice wasn't as sticky - not sure if it's because of the type of rice used. Service was really attentive!

This is a good mandarin, szechuan, dimsum place to dine. Food is really good, service is fast with a smile from the lady crew. It looks small but can seat a number of people. If you are around this area try this place it may become your favorite!

You'd never guess there's excellent cuisine at this fairly nondescript restaurant. Friendly, unrushed service and excellent dishes...surprisingly so. The Dim Sum comes out when it's ready: Perfect temperature, Perfectly delivered. Casual ambiance but comfortable. Highly recommend and very reasonably priced.

Good dim sum place that serves dim sum at later hours than other local dim sum places If you're craving dim sum late afternoon or early evening, this is a definite option My main complaint with what I ordered is that the sauce is already mixed in with the shrimp rice noodle. I would have preferred if the sauce was on the side, so you can control how much sauce to add to your taste. The sauce is a bit too salty for me so I would have added very little if any at all, but since it was already mixed in, there was nothing I could do about that Otherwise, a solid dim sum spot

The highlight was the service - extremely attentive and sweet! And the dim sum was so good too-- everythinf we got was as good as (if not better than) versions we've had in the past: 1) BBQ pork buns (not pictured) - the softest yet not soggy buns I've ever had 2) turnip cakes - more savory and cris than I've ever had, with a nice surprise of Chinese sausage bits inside 3) fried tofu- perfectly crispy with a nice dipping sauce 4) shanghai soup dumplings- homey taste with a nice chewy wrapper, served atop Napa cabbage 5) shiu mai (not pictured) - hefty size, filled generously with pork and shrimp 6) chow mein - flavorful (will have to try the chow feng next time) 7) sesame balls - perfectly crispy on the outside and steaming on the inside, not too greasy at all! We loved the casual, family-run feel of this place and will return for our dim sum fix in the future!

First time. I was not disappointed. Very good service and very tasty food. I had the lunch special which included choice of soup. I took the hot and sour which was probably some of the best I've had. I had the orange chicken which came with egg roll little cream, cheese, wonton, and fried rice. Portion was very nice very tasty and very quick service.

Wow, what a hidden gem! First time here with my mom, aunt and uncle and we had such great experience! Amazing fresh dimsum and we didn't have to go to Alhambra for it. Exceptional service by Julie. Cant wait to take my whole fam!

siomai (left), steamed dumplings (top), porridge with century egg, chicken feet, kungpao chicken lunch meal (bottom)
    Connie D.

Yay!! 1st attempt - SUCCESS! We had Pork siomai, Porridge with century egg, steamed dumplings, chicken feet, Kung Pao chicken (lunch meal), pork bun, steamed "something" - all for only 2- we were hungry, yes. We had to gos afterward. From these orders that we had- I can say that KUNGPAO CHICKEN and pork siomai are the best. Eeeeeverything taste good, but if I will come back here these two will be present on the table again. The place, I can say is a little high-end compared to other Chinese restaurants that serve the same dish- it's decent and good for dates and group. It's clean, the staff is really attentive, restrooms are available, and a lot of parking. So yeah, all in all I recommend! Nice place to visit for Dimsum cravings!

The service is consistently great... attentive, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. Fair warning for anyone new to Sichuan cuisine, the dominant flavor is "spicy". That said, the dishes are not just about heat... they're layered, aromatic, and incredibly well-balanced. Every dish I've tried has been outstanding, both in flavor and presentation. If you're a fan of bold, authentic flavors and reliable service, this spot is definitely worth visiting. Tip - If you're new to the cuisine, I strongly recommend getting everything MILD spicy. I've been told by some of my colleagues that MILD spicy is still pretty spicy, so be warned. With that said, strongly recommend the dishes below. Lamb with Cumin 11/10 - My favorite dish here by far. Aromatic, flavorful, and the spices are just on point. Dan Dan Noodles 9/10 - Solid and consistently good. The sauce is properly seasoned and truly compliments the perfectly cooked noodles. Shredded Cabbage with Pork 9/10 - Not to be confused with twice cooked pork. This dish is so simple and bland looking, but it's packed with flavor... so good! Garlic Pork Belly 8/10 - This is a cold dish. The meat was perfectly cooked and properly coated in chili oil. Solid and consistently good. Kung Pao Chicken 8/10 - In my opinion, it's an elevated Kung Pao Chicken. Solid and consistently good.

We'd been talking about getting Chinese food, and he picked Xiang La Hui, his go-to spot for classic Sichuan. I'd never been before, and was more than happy to try a new spot in the SGV. We met up at noon and stayed until the restaurant wrapped up lunch service and gently pushed us out the door, sometime around 2:30. The space was nice, instantly recognizable as a Chinese restaurant in Alhambra. It was pretty quiet the whole time, a good place for a leisurely catch-up. Service was fast and polite, though the combination of QR code ordering and poor Verizon service was a bummer. I had to cross the dining room to take down the wifi password posted on the opposite wall. We ordered a sizable spread for two people: Chong Qing fried chicken, dan dan noodles, wontons with chili oil, and pea tips with garlic. Everything was delicious, most of all the Chong Qing fried chicken, crispy nibbly bits of breaded chicken stir-fried with green onion and hot pepper. I love dan dan noodles and wontons, and thought both were great, if not the best I've had in the area. The pea tips were lovely, bright green and not spicy, but abundantly flavorful. I'd love to come back to Xiang La Hui and try more of the menu. It seems like a restaurant that does everything well, and I'll keep it in mind whenever I'm craving Sichuan.

It's always nice when restaurants utilize the iPad, because it just makes the process so much easier! We ordered the Tom Yum broth, which was incredible--it was so rich in flavor and the perfect spice, too. It's one of the best Tom Yum broths I've had. We ordered quite a few things on the iPad: greens platter, ribeye, marbled beef, fish roe balls, corn, rice, and handmade noodles. Their sauce bar is at the entrance of the restaurant, and there's quite a few options that they have. All their veggies, noodles and meats were pretty high quality. Would definitely recommend getting the Ribeye! The service there was top notch. The workers there would grab empty plates almost immediately, move plates closer to us as we finished other things on the table and filled our broth quickly. Overall, I would definitely recommend and return here! It was such a great option for hot pot!

It had a nice salty, spicy flavor that made it really easy to keep eating. The only downside is, well, the toothpicks! They definitely slow you down. I also really enjoyed the Mapo Tofu. It was nice and flavorful and went really well with the other dishes. Overall, everything we tried was really good, and I can definitely see why my friends recommended this place.

Food-wise, this place is easily a 4/5 stars. Service-wise, not quite there…read more When we first walked in, everyone was friendly and we didn't wait long at all, especially considering how packed the restaurant was. They definitely know how to get people seated and keep the crowd moving in, but getting out was another story. Kept getting passed up when we were done and simply trying to leave. The food did take a while, but I can understand that when everything is being made fresh. Just know that if you're on a time crunch, this probably isn't the place for a quick meal. The gentleman who seated us and took our order was really nice, but after that, we pretty much felt forgotten about. Once the food arrived though, it was Good. Very flavorful, authentic Chinese food, and definitely worth trying. The atmosphere is loud and busy, no music, just the sound of a completely packed restaurant, so don't come expecting a quiet, relaxing dinner. Also, fair warning, some of these dishes are Spicy, and I mean actually spicy. If you love some heat, you'll probably love this place. Overall, I'd recommend giving it a try for the food. Lots of dishes to choose from. A good variety too of proteins, vegetables, noodles and Wonton soup.
