Got the news from Yelp that a new Japanese curry restaurant opened on King Street. So we had to try them for lunch today. Wow, the curry is really good! Reminds me of the curry restaurant we used to go to in Tsukiji, Japan. Potato Salad, Corn, and Tsukemono all go well with curry and rice. Fried Oysters were cooked well, not oily. Gyoza was cooked good but looked store bought. The Curry Pan was nice and crispy with cheese and curry melted in the middle. The 2 Japanese ladies working today were really nice and very grateful for coming to their restaurant. Wife and I will definitely return to Jugem in the near future. read more

I had an appointment in the building and decided to try the restaurant. They didn't have Katsu Curry Udon on the menu and I asked if they could make it. They accommodated me and made it. It was oishi!!! It's a mom-and-pop kind of establishment that I used to go to in Japan. It reminded me of those places. read more

Went to Jugem with a friend for dinner. Ordered the Tonkatsu Curry. Unfortunately, the curry was very bland for me. I guess I like my curry spicy and it didn't have that kind of flavor. The server gave me some red pepper to add, but it still didn't really do it for me. I'm not sure if that's how the curry was suppose to taste like, but it wasn't to my liking. Was recommended this place by a coworker that continuously raved about the food. Got here about 11:00 on a Saturday so front street parking was available. It's a cute little place that can maybe seat 25 people total. The lady that took our order was very sweet and polite. Usually at new restaurants we try we inquire about what's popular. We went with our gut this time and I ordered the fried chicken curry and my bf ordered the dumpling curry. He really wanted the fried hot dog curry so we got a side order of the fried hot dog. Since we were the only ones in there the food came out pretty quick along with our side dish of daikon, corn, and potato Mac salad which was a nice touch. My fried chicken curry was very tasty and had good flavor. My bf's fried dumpling had great flavor also. That fried hot dog was very intimidating at first because it was literally a foot long. Oishi curry! Very small shop, very nice people! The curry is very flavorful and served hot! Both shrimp & oyster fry very fresh and crunchy. Sooooo delicious and they open early at 9am!! Went here twice and I can not have any respect for the amount of time they had me wait for both visits that I had had taken there. I don't usually write reviews but this time I thought was very much needed. I had ordered takeout the first time for 2 of their curry pans, I had called and and they had told me it should be ready in about 15 minutes, I had come 20 minutes later and didn't have it ready so I thought hey no biggie, some time had passed by as I had waited an additional 45 minutes inside the store for my 2 orders of a not so huge appetizer! So I thought to myself maybe they were just busy that day even though the restaurant was not full. As I went today to order takeout attempting to give them a second chance the wait was even worse. Today as I went only 2 tables with at least 2-3 people on them were there so the shop wasn't super busy but It took them at least 50 minutes to actually take my order and then almost another hour or so just to get my order, I might be harsh but that is really ridiculous and they were apologetic about it but it was only as if there was only one person taking orders and when the other workers there could've taken our orders the whole time. My order was eventually taken by one of the people who was working in the kitchen while what looked like the main person taking orders and giving people their tabs was doing who knows what. Taste and portions wise I really felt like I lost money today on both ends because of how hyped it was I was really expecting more and for me to cure my curry crave but it really didn't and I'm really really disappointed in this place. My first visit I got the curry pan which I'd give a 2/5 but was too crunchy and it was too doughy. On today's visit I'd give it a 2/5 as well, I got their special which came with 2 pieces of fried spam, 4 gyoza, 2 pieces of fried shrimp, 4 tiny pieces of chicken katsu I believe it was, and 4 pieces of fried oysters and I also got the coedo curry plate as well. From todays order I had paid about 40 bucks and for the portion size was ridiculously small! The rice wasn't filled all the way up to the container line and was filled about a 3rd of the way up, so was the macaroni/potato salad, corn, and pickle I believe it was. Same goes with the container that the coedo curry came in. Taste wise was completely bland, I could not taste any sort of the unique taste of the spices that Japanese curry usually does nor did I have any sort of spice to it same goes towards the fried items in the special they were something anyone could've made if you had put some batter on and fried it. I'm sorry for the really bad review but I'm really saying it as it is and my overall experience was a real disappointment especially since it was a bad experience both times. If you are the owner and you are reading this I apologize, but for waiting almost an hour just to order is just ridiculous especially if you aren't compensating the customer for waiting that long heck I might've been a little happy if I was offered even a cup of water or something extra that would've been added to my order but nope. Not expecting to come here in the near future unless they meet standards of price, portions, taste, and customer service. If you were thinking of going here I rather recommend you going to curry house or goma tei! You'd really be getting more appreciation from those places maybe. read more

I expected much more based on prior yelp reviews. The curry was okay but nothing special and it tasted like it was made from a boxed curry brick. The ebi fry had a nice crunch and the tofu fry was tasty like a kamaboko fish cake with bits of veggies inside. Service at the tiny restaurant was excellent and the ladies working there were prompt, friendly, and attentive.
