This review is specifically for vegetable juice. I am an avid drinker and thought I would check out Lucy's I am giving 1 star for the selection of veggies (and because Yelp requires 1 star, but I would have given 1 anyway) However, the juice was warm. Warm vegetable juice is almost undrinkable, no matter how often you consume it. The thought of drinking it makes green smoothish chunks come up and tickle the back of my throat. And drinking from a bowl? I can appreciate the desire to be part of the SF hippie culture - but considering the price - give me something that is drinkable, not vomit worthy and expensive. For vegetable juice I am sticking to Lettus in the Marina...how sad is that...the MARINA is the better option for vegetable juice. Juicey Lucy...you should be ashamed. read more

I clearly am not the first one with this experience which makes me feel better but I'm giving one star for the awful customer service and overpriced juices. The woman working here told me that I couldn't use my $10 voucher from Groupon unless I purchased another $10 drink. When I politely tried to explain that this is not how Groupon typically works, she very rudely told me that she didn't care and that's how it goes. I informed Groupon of this, got my refund, but am just posting it on here too because this type of bad customer service needs to be mentioned. I'm usually a solid supporter of local and small vendors, and frequent farmers markets when I can. That said, this juice spot is a rip off, and the owner, in my experience, was frankly rude. When I went to order a healthy combo of liquid veggies, she rung me up for $28. I though she had rung me up for two, so when I said it was just one juice, she confirmed (and in a less than pleasant tone) that the price was $28 for ONE FLIPPING GLASS JAR OF JUICE. And she made an annoyed face when I changed to the $15 one..Uhh, I love my beets, ginger and all that goody stuff but holy god that drink better cure cancer if you're charging that much for it. I am very particular about fresh juice. I've tried many and these are by far some of the best. I have been juice fasting with Juicey Lucy's since January 2003 and I cannot speak highly enough regarding the services! I usually do the ten day ones, but I one did a 15-day. I am so pleased and happy with everything about the services. Lisa is truly a goddess when it comes to making her blends - other services simply cannot hold a candle to what she offers. Don't be scared about fasting - everything in your life changes for the better when you just take the plunge and do it. Your skin tone, weight, mental outlook, vision, even hearing improves - trust me I wouldn't have done them for going on nine years if I didn't think it was worth it! Lisa is a very nurturing person and deeply cares for her customers. Her years of experience make all the difference when you are going through the fast, especially for newbies. Juicey Lucy's is a great place for veggie juices and smoothies. Who knew with easy to find ingredients you can make a juice that actually taste's good and is so healthy. I literally feel myself living longer after finishing an 8 oz "vegetable vitality." Also good for an energy boost if you find yourself for a healthy, light meal. Praise to Ms. Lucy for posting a booth in front of Kaiser SF every wed...her tantalizing concoctions have made many of my hard days at work so much easier. this would be 5 stars for food quality and for the feel of the place, but the food comes out SO SLOW LY-- even when we call ahead and order it for lunch (we work nearby). Calling never seems to work (they're supposed to prepare the food while we're on our way) .....and the juice drinks are $$ .......BUT ~ the food is quality--slow food movement (I know) type: organic, local, gorgeous vegies and fruits--phenomonal drink menu (of the healthy sort). We--my friends Shona, Missy and I have gone quite a few times--are always saying that they are grating each grate of vegetable separately--so let's just say "lovingly prepared." She (Lucy?) used to be against the 'to go' container or take out items but has collapsed this policy due to external pressure. If they could only get the food ready within my lunch hour, I would go there more. The deserts are kind of dry and not so yummy. i come here for their juices after my appointments from the hospital nearby and im always happy with the juices! my groupon expired and i asked the lady if i could use the original ten that i paid towards the groupon purchase and she agreed but since i had already purchased a juice before mentioning it i asked for the breakfast quinoa meal instead and she was super kind and allowed me to get that instead. I loved the acceptional tempeh sandwich and the liver cleanse and veggie vitality juices are just what you need to cure your hangover or just feel nice and clean. I have two great reasons to write this review! 1. The owner of this great place, Lisa gives away juice pulp for dogs and every Saturday I walk over with a ziplock and fill up to mix it in my dogs daily meals. Its is extremely healthy and my dog eats it from my hand like he is getting a treat. But this service had new meaning when my little puppymill runt blind dog rescue lost a bunch of teeth due to a genetic problem and I had to change his diet to softer choices. It also was my saving grace post oral surgery when he wouldn't eat anything but this mixed with water. Lisa, cares about dogs and people and she always takes the time to give me nutritional options for my dog, Bailey. I suggest if you go you give back and drop a couple of bucks because it is the right thing to do. As for her juices? Omg yes!!! So far each one I have had I have not been disappointed and they are a great late morning snack while walking thru the farmers market! Yummy! The juices are wonderful and super tasty. I especially loved the beet juice! Beyond their awesome green juices, Juicey Lucy's has amazing customer service. During my cleanse, my work schedule changed about 3 times and with each change they responded quickly...sometimes at 5:30am. My juices were promptly delivered each day. The delivery driver was patient with my crazy schedule and was always on time. After my cleanse, I felt incredibly energized & renewed! Juicey Lucy's is awesome. I've tried the delivery service, but because of my work schedule it's easier to hit the farmers markets on the weekends. I'm normally very picky and there's always some ingredient in everything that I don't like, but I've liked absolutely everything I've tried at JL. The farmers market locations are popular(i.e., long lines), but they encourage you to place your order and shop the market while you wait. The soups are fantastic too. When I've used the delivery service, they catered to my every request. I really like the staff. They know what they're doing, they're pleasant, and they are passionate about healthy food. I've shared their juices with my co-workers and friends. Mine may be the only office in SF that serves beet juice (to the excitement of 3/4 attendees) at staff meetings. Sundays for the past several years meant Alamo Square Farmers' Market and a trip to my favorite place--Juicey Lucy's. I planned my day around it. I even made it there after running a marathon so I wouldn't miss out. I wondered lately why I have so much dread when I think about going to pick up my yummy Green Drinks and Turmeric potions. I realized it was because even though the juice is undeniably delicious, fresh and organic---the owner is arrogant, cold and shows no allegiance to loyal customers. Her juice is the BEST but lately I have been feeling that her interactions with people are toxic. I long for the days when Willow and the other gentleman(who left because he was always seemingly unhappy under the owner's thumb when she was there) worked there instead of the owner. Then there was delicious juice without the attitude. I have always been so friendly and kind and recommended her juice to all. I could have done a commercial for her. I have taken so many photos and posted on Facebook and recommended to colleagues... If I ever miss a week, The owner, makes sure to point out she hasn't seen me, but it never feels like she genuinely cares what has happened to me, but more that she missed a loyal sale. I have spent between $9 and $30.00 a week for as all long as she has been there. I had a Groupon that my friend gave me for Hannukah and I was so flattered that he was so thoughtful to know how much Juicey Lucy gift makes me happy that I let The owner know. She didn't share in my excitement when I was even having to shell out $10 because it had expired. Last month due to an emergency a friend cheered me up by sending me a Groupon again knowing how much I love the Juice Today, Lisa says in the rudest tone---"Another gift?!"---Yeah, that's right Owner, in all the years and all the weeks I have spent $20.00plus, I have a 2nd gift certificate How about rejoicing with me... How about asking me WHY I received the gift rather than tell me I have to choose ONE Vegetable drink and ONE Fruit drink. The Groupon was for any 2 16 ounce drinks... but Lisa INSISTS that everyone follow this rule---despite the drinks costing the same. On top of that---Owner, you've known me for years. You know the drink I like, why not let me have it---why turn a healthy event into a toxic showdown. Did you know I am allergic to oranges that are in almost all your fruit drinks? Did you know your Green Alkaline makes me so happy and all my friends know it? I get that you are a business woman but part of a healthy experience is not only having a great product but also showing kindness--especially to your loyal customers. I have been to you ---in my marathon clothes literally running from the race-line, I have been there right on my birthday---never a gesture. I have even been charged the wrong price on several occasions by new servers but always gave you the benefit of the doubt and another go at it. I don't want to feel like that on Sunday mornings anymore. There are other Juice Joints that are friendlier(they give me a frequent juice card and even a free jug of juice once in awhile for loyalty) and other corporations that don't give attitude...and at least when I walk into the Mill I get a complimentary coffee once in awhile instead of an attitude. I find it funny how few times I have bought flowers from the lady across from you, and yet she says hello and smiles every Sunday without expecting anything in return. Good customer service goes such a long way. If so many people have been concerned by your tricky GROUPON requirements maybe you should reflect on that and see what YOU could change. Or simply don't have promotions if you are going to be resentful that people use them. read more

I think Juicy Lucy's is great for grabbing a quick drink at the farmers market, but her prices for cleanses are astronomical considering that the juices are not cold-pressed and are made with a centrifugal juicer. Most cleanses have 6 juices a day and charge a lot less then she charges for 5 juices. Check out juice to you for a cheaper cleanse that is cold pressed. read more

I am a vegan living almost across the street from this place and, I don't go there. Once, after lifting weights I needed to take my protein shake. I was all out of fruit, but had plenty of protein powder. Knowing that there was a store that sold "smoothies" across the street, I ran over there and placed an order to go; or so I thought. The asked me to sit while I waited, so I did, still sweating from my workout. 5 minutes later a bowl of warm juice arrived at my table. I asked for a smoothie to go, and I got a warm bowl(?) of juice for "dine in". WTF. I waited for about 2 minutes, just to make sure that some other beverage or another part of my beverage was not going to come out. Nope. I drank the little bowl of juice in 3 seconds and went to North Beach food mart to buy an Odwalla Protein Smoothie. The food may be good, and eventually I will get over this and give their non-beverages a try. But for right now, they get 1 out of 5 based strictly on their wacko definition of a smoothie. read more

I bought a groupon for Juicey Lucy since DH and I were planning a short trip to San Francisco. We went to the Divisadero Farmer's Market to pick up our Juice and DH made fun of me when he saw the 10 - 12 tents that make up the market because I had been planning to spend hours there as I usually do at the Hollywood Farmer's market. Sidenote: Market proves that good things do come in small packages. Juicey Lucy was the first tent when we got to the market. They weren't ready for customers until about 10 minutes after the market opened but we didn't mind waiting. They didn't have the menu up when we wanted to order, but the employee described all the juices and we decided on the "alkalizer". It was really good especially considering that other than an apple or two, all other ingredients are leafy greens. When it came time to pay, my groupon wouldn't scan (probably my own fault since I had printed it out weeks earlier on a printer that had been (almost) out of ink for over six months - DH is very frugal, keeps shaking the toner instead of replacing). DH said manually inputting the # didn't work either but I never saw them do that since I was already composing my complaint letter to groupon in my head which proved unnecessary since they accepted my groupon without the slightest hassle. Great customer service. Great product. We'll be back in January. read more

I had a not so great experience at the noe valley Farmer's market with my two young children. First the least expensive option is $10, then they tried to sell me some extra supplements, which I graciously declined, then they still charged me extra for the supplements which I wouldn't have noticed except for the fact that I only had a $10 bill on me, and then lastly when I asked for a straw so that my 2 year old could enjoy it, the woman said"sorry we are a straw-less company" which was clearly not true as there were coconuts with straws on display. When I pointed this out, she said "those are only for the coconuts". And then she pulled out some sign which apparently she forgot to put on display earlier which explains the no straw policy. I should have asked for my money back but at this point my daughters were both crying because they wanted to drink the juice, so I went to the nice people of "buen comer" and asked them for a straw which they obliged because they care about their customer experience. Next time I will stop at pressed juicery on 24th Street on my way to the farmers market! read more

I heard about Juicey Lucy via groupon. I have started to get into green drinks and wanted to try out some 'professional' juice (vs. juice or smoothie I make myself). I saw all the feedback on yelp re: groupon and juicey lucy and appreciate the time the yelping community took to inform us of their experiences. I still went ahead and got the groupon, and knowing how difficult it is to work with the vendor on expired coupons, i redeemed my groupon that weekend (well before the expiration date). The juices were made with organic ingredients and you can see them juicing right in front of you; they were tastier than I thought they would be. We visited them at the Noe Valley Farmers Market, and i got a beet juice and a greens juice. They use seasonal fruits and vegetables so the flavors or veggie ratios differ depending on what is readily available. Also it's organic, which explains the $10 price for juice. It's not difficult to juice but cleaning the machine up afterwards can be a pain, and it also takes time to buy and prep the veggies for juicing so I can understand the price. I can't afford to buy fresh made organic juices every day but I would if I could. So one of these professional fresh made green juices is in the "special treat" category for me, and i will continue to do my own green smoothies at home, which are slightly different (and I don't want to get into the differences of green juice vs. green smoothie here). If i am in the area, I would purchase their juice again. read more

It was a beautiful and sunny Sunday and everyone at the Divisidero market had an equally sunny disposition... that was until I went to Juicey Lucy's. The woman was quite curt and condescending from the moment I walked up to buy a juice. She seemed frantic, even though I was the only customer in line. I asked her if a particular juice was sweet, and she responded "It is beautiful." Wasn't going to press her further and ordered the drink, which she kind of shoved at me. No thank you or anything. I asked for a straw and she said "We are happily straw free." I understand why you would be straw free, but there is no reason to be rude about it! If you're going to serve juice, you should at least think about perhaps either offering straws, or provide an alternative cup that doesn't need them. It's silly to give a cup that has a hole for a straw and not offer them! I don't appreciate condescension and will not be frequenting this place ever again. yum! fresh juice made right in front of you at the noe valley farmer's market. i ordered a gaia goddess. they were out of mango but happily substituted anything i wanted (raspberries) and though $7 is a lot to pay for one drink, it was totally worth it. can't wait to go back and try some of their tempeh bowls--they look fantastic. just have to save up a bit first. read more

I've been juice-fasting with Juicey Lucy's a couple of times a year for several years now, and the service is fantastic. The juices are always fresh and delicious, made from an assortment of wonderful fruit and vegetables, and the experience makes you feel fantastic during and after the fast. i heart this place. its a hop and a skip (not even a jump!) from my north beach office. try the nori roll. and try the pink perk (i think its beet, carrot, orange, ginger??) juice OMG. i went here before my job interview for my job in THE CITY. it was a good luck charm and it calmed me down. AND i got the job. you too could be so lucky, verrrrry cool ambiance and awesome women who run this place. great great energy. definitely leave time to savor the space as everything is made to order. i hope they are still open, they have been on hiatus for some time. so yum! read more
