We had dinner at The Junction last night which inspired me to write a review . This is a few blocks off the main downtown area, so very happy that Natalee referred us there . We initially went in for tapas, but saw an interesting dish on the menu in "shareables". (See pics). Not only was the food delish, the owners and staff was super welcoming and friendly , taking time to visit, tell about their food and wine , and make some recommendations for around town . We love to have that "at home" experience , like sharing a meal with friends ! We are looking forward to our next trip up here ! read more

A truly hidden gem! Each entree we tried was complexly flavored and perfectly textured! The empanadas were a must return for item! The Papa Rellena croquettes we're an explosion of delicious flavors! Tapas style menu allows for trying so many different dishes. Generous portions and reasonable prices. Great service with super friendly chef/owner. I've eaten at many, if not most, of the better restaurants in Paso Robles and this is definitively in the top two or three! Just Awesome! Somehow Junction manages to fly low on the Paso Robles specialty food radar. Its off the beaten path at the train station at the far end of the building. Easy to find and park. An enticinng menu with lots of classic Spanish tapas awaits. Excellent patatas, shrimp and steak are offered here. All well prepared. A concise wine list with Spanish and local selections is just as percise. Service..excellent. A must for a casual tapas / Spanish night out. read more

Just wow! Junction was an unplanned highlight of our 1st Anniversary weekend in Paso Robles, and it was just so special. The food, flavors, value, service, and experience. Being off the square (but just a short drive away) we didn't have to wait for a table which, in PR, makes for a Sunday morning luxury! Super cute shaded patio, very reasonably priced brunch drinks - we had their version of a sangria mimosa which was so much more delicious and complex than the sangria you get at most restaurants. Same with our brunch dishes, we shared a coca which is like a small pizza with Spanish toppings and a pastry-like crust and the breakfast tortilla. This is Spanish food made with hand-picked and curated Spanish ingredients, it's evident in the flavors. Nick and Ingrid Holguin, the chef/owners, treat you like family - just very social and welcoming. We'll never skip Junction when in the area from here out. read more

In August the catering truck was @ Barrel House in Paso . And it truly made my day . I'm not a beer drinker , but I love good food . The Patio Kitchen was amazing -the four of ya really worked your magic . The location was packed & they truly kept up w: the high demand . I came here with a large group after my very small wedding in the park. I was so pleasantly surprised and impressed by the very warm welcome we received, even though I felt like we over ran the place the staff was super friendly and helpful. Churros nice a crunchy - not oily-would like the chocolate to have a bit of cinnamon or heat. I have been coming up to Paso for about 15 years and the locals consider my wife and I semi-locals. Missing thru all of these years was truly exceptional food. Not any longer. Wandering near down town looking for something new we found this place. Every small plate we shared was nothing short of amazing. This was, by far, the best meal I've ever had in Paso outside of friends homes. Amazing and the price was very user friendly. We will be back for sure the next time in Paso. read more

Yelped to find a new place to try for date night. Found Junction and was excited to try it. It is a very nice place just outside of downtown by the railroad terminal. The restaurant was very clean and we were seated right away, we didn't have reservations and didn't need them because it was early midweek, you may need a reservation on the weekend. We shared a few of the tapas salads and then had the hanger steak sharable. Both salads were delicious and the hanger steak sharable filled us both up. It felt like plenty of food. We finished off with the olive oil cake, it was just right with the ice cream and whipped cream. There was also a candied Fresno chili on the whipped cream, it was HOT fyi, but a nice surprise on a desert. We had plenty of ice cream left to cool off with. The food was great, the atmosphere was pleasant and the service was friendly fast and comfortable. Overall a great choice. It is nice to have this kind of place here, we will be back, lots of interesting choices left to try. read more

Came here for dinner. We really enjoyed it. The food was really good and the staff was fabulous, helpful and kind. We had lamb empanadas which was a daily special, steamed mussels with small bits of Salvadoran blood sausage and garlic bread , and roasted veggies with pomegranate seeds and a walnut sauce. We enjoyed all of it. The blood sausage was really interesting and put the mussels over the top. The prices were reasonable also for nowadays and they are not snooty. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They are right near the train station. Not right in the center of town but only a short walk. Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

The food was better than the service but still not fantastic for the price. The folks who work there are friendly but the service is disorganized (getting food you didn't order, having to ask multiple times for things such as water before you receive it, etc.). Maybe it was an off night for them given the reviews are generally positive for this place. Their lamb was pretty good as was a salad we ordered. The rest of the small plates including the empanadas were alright. The pepper rellenos dish didn't hit the spot for me. Wine and red sangria we ordered was good. read more

Have been coming to Paso for years and and have dined there a lot, and this was a new discovery on a recent trip over there. Great find! The staff was very friendly and very attentive, and overall the restaurant had a really nice feel to it. Kind of a small and cozy vibe, although also fairly busy on a Saturday night, enough to feel like a vibrant place. Decor gave it a high end feel. For wine, I had a tempranillo blend recommended by the waitress, and I thought it was a very good glass for the price. Complex flavor and paired really well with the rest of the meal. We ordered two tapas to start, to be followed by the fideua. The tomato and bread was outstanding--I could have just eaten that all night. Also got a goat cheese, pistachio, and beet salad, which was another standout; an interesting take on the ingredients, and I thought it was well balanced and each flavor and texture had a chance to shine. The fideua was also excellent--we honestly felt like we had ordered too much food, but didn't want to stop and eventually ate everything on the table. Definitely my favorite meal of the visit. This was a real gem, in a quiet corner of town a few blocks south of the busy downtown city park area, where most of the visitors to Paso end up for dinner and drinks. read more

The Tapas was very good. We had four different types. I thought the Sangria was overpriced at $15 a glass but it was tasty. Be prepared to pay at least $170 for two. I think the Tapas plates should have 4 rather than three. Service friendly two person tables are pretty small. read more

Painfully awkward service but good food. We ate dinner last Wednesday night. We ordered the chicken empanadas, chicken thigh dish, and churros. The gentleman who was our server stood in the corner with his arms crossed and watched us and the two other tables eat the entire time, it was so uncomfortable. Can't really say that this was a good or even average experience for us. #1- the tables: extremely small tables - I ask if we could get larger table - I'm 6'8" 270lbs. The answer was A very CURT "no we are completely booked". I can appreciate that but at the time of our departure there were only 3 tables. Yay the rest was open wide! #2- Service - the menu is decisively design to make money - in other word a few items that usually are served together were separated to make you order 2 items instead of one. #3- Waiter - one male waiter who I felt we were putting him off because we order regular water plus a bottle of wine - unfortunately any time we needed water we had to wave him down for service #3- Atmosphere - mixed - large TV's over bar (sport bar style) table with candlelight in the same space. Can't have both one or the other. Over all a lackluster experience mainly brought on by lack of service, friendliness, or Hospitality. read more

Not what I expected. Check out the limited menu before coming. I was REALLY hungry after a day of wine tasting. The place is nicely decorated. The outdoor dining area is not as nice as other restaurants in the area. The tables are especially small and the seats are super uncomfortable. We got the croquetas, empanadas, pollo al mojo de ajo, filete de percha a la brasa, papas, an Arnold Palmer and a glass of Perinet Priorat. The Arnold Palmer was unsweetened so I sent it back. Everything else was good. I didn't like that they brought out one of our dinners 20 minutes ahead of the other one or that they brought out the papas before the steak and they were part of the same meal. Everyone provide service to the customers the entire time, from the hostess to the water boy; this makes you feel taken care of, but creates some confusion when it's time to tip. Anyone who knows Paso knows that getting an amazing dinner experience, without a reservation downtown on a Saturday night, is often next to impossible! Imagine our delight when we have Junction recommended to us at a winery, only to call and speak to Diego, who said...come over, we can serve you right away... So about 15 minutes later, we walk into this gorgeous space. Looks are deceiving! The outside gives no indication of the wonders that lie within! The ambience and décor set an amazing tone. The staff... friendly, attentive, passionate about you dining experience, and then there's the food...each dish is a mini culinary masterpiece. The Iberico seared pork, is hands-down, the best pork I have ever had (and I am not a huge pork person), lamb empanadas were delightful, Pisto Manchego with the egg...I literally had to close my eyes to process all of the flavors. The goat cheese stuffed piquillo peppers...and those are just the ones I can remember. Diego was working behind the bar where we sat...knowledgeable, personable, excited about wine and service, was funny, engaging and a capable guide in our culinary journey...he took the experience from good to great. This will most definitely be a staple for us, going forward. read more
