Not sure why all the good reviews? We didn't care for it at all. If you want the paella it takes 40 minutes so we tried some small plates. Wedge salad was tasteless, as was the octopus...no flavor at all. The lamb lollipop had so much black pepper it brought tears to my eyes and I could not stop coughing. We were still hungry but decided to cut our losses and leave. After 5 nights in Paso Robles this was the worst meal we had. read more

After a wine event and lunch at the Event Center I was in the mood for a light dinner, so searched Yelp for tapas and found Junction very close to my hotel. The Piruletas de Cordero (lamb lollipops) on top of a fresh, well dressed salad fit the bill for a complete meal. Tender lamb, gnawed off the bone! What a hidden gem! The food was all really tasty. It was seasoned well, the portions were good & the sauces were out of this world. My train was late on NYE, and I needed to let my daughter get on with her evening (she would have waited with me had I let her). It was dark and drizzling, so I had her drop me off at an inviting storefront. It was Junction and even though they were booked for the evening they found me a seat at the bar where I had a lovely chat with staff members and a delicious glass of celebratory sparkling wine. First things if you need any substitutions or have food allergies I would not come here. We asked about the fruit and I specifically said no tropical fruit and we got a bowl of pineapples with apples and grapes. I asked 3 times but my husband was polite and ate all the fruits. The tortilla Espana was covered in a spicy sauce. I wish they had it on the side but there was no mention of it on the menu. It was also extremely dry and not at all pair and even crunchy on the bottom. The cheeseburger was the star of the meal, however they added peppers and sauce and had to remake it. Once remade it was absolutely delicious and worth getting again. I'd come back here and just eat this. My husband got the choripan which was okay. The sausage was fairly small compared to the bread ratio. The chimichurri sauce salad was nice and refreshing. Lastly we ordered the French toast which was dry. Even with the maple syrup wasn't even able to save it. We also had an off menu lunch item which was the jamon but it was served with spiced baguette instead of the traditional bread with tomato. It was sort of a weird combo. Quality of the jamon was nice though. Finally we ordered the basque cheesecake. We asked again for sauce on the side and it was all over. There was only 1 but my daughter could eat. Instead of taking it back and fixing it she was like is it ok? Ugh. Frustrating. Service was also spotty. There was only one sever for the whole restaurant. I've also never had a server sit down while taking my order. I feel like it was a bit too personal. If we were regulars I'd be okay with it but it was our first time. Again if you have any allergies they don't take it seriously and not everything is listed and even when you asked the answer doesn't not match what you might be given. read more

Found Junction in web search and thought we'd give it a try. Walked in without reservation and were sat in about 5-10min. Our service animal was welcome without a fuss. Ordered a Wedge salad to split, the Ibérico Jamón with crustini slices, and the Junction Paella with shrimp added. Wedge was crisp cold and delicious. I could have used a few more pieces of the Spanish Chorizo. That said, the salad was delicious! The Jamón brought us back to Spain, it was that good. The crustini was okay, but the star is meant to be the Jamón! The Junction Paella was outstanding and perfect for two people, especially with the custom add of shrimp. After a long day of wine tasting, eating here was a great way to end my day! The food was AH-MAZ-ING! I don't even remember what the soup was called but since it was so chilly outside, it made for the perfect starter. It came out so hot and hearty. With every spoonful there were delicious little bits of chorizo , yum! Next were the meatballs, that sauce they are sitting in was bomb! I kept dipping my bread in it, I just couldn't get enough. Next were the empanadas and patatas bravas. Both were delicious. The potato's were so crispy and hot. I loved it! Last, was the chimichurri steak, unfortunately I didn't get a photo. Truly a major bad on my part but trust me, one of the best dishes I've had here in Paso. The steak was done PERFECT, PERFECT char, perfect temp! The Chimichurri was fresh, so garlicky and herby. This restaurant is legit! I've lived in Barcelona and this place rivals any I've tried. The food is delicious and well conceived. My only criticism is that the mussels were incredibly small. The Wagu NY steak was terrific (served rare with a chimichurri sauce), the octopus tender and tasty and even the wedge salad terrific. First of all, Nick and Ingrid, serve as owners, chef, and hostess. You can tell they take great pride in their offerings and service. We came at the end of the evening, so there were a few items that were sold out-- our fault for not coming sooner. Ingrid was so gracious making sure our little dog was comfortable in their quiet private outdoor patio. She described everything with such detail and the nuances each wine pick would have complimenting the dishes. The service was fast and the dishes were well prepared and tasty. I'm not a Spanish tapas aficionado, so I can't attest to the food's authenticity, but on presentation, flavor, cohesion, and texture alone I think the dishes we selected were a solid 7-9 in my book. We were super excited to try this place but walked out before we even had a chance. Hours said they were open on Saturday until 2:00 and we walked in at 1:40, with the intention of asking if it was still ok to be seated. However, let me add that the "open" sign was illuminated and there were other patrons seated. We walked in, saw who I am assuming was the chef conversing with a large group at a table, he sees us, pulls out his phone, and says to the group something about our bad timing as he rolls his eyes at us, so now they all look at us and snicker. This review is from December 9. We had a cava flight and a red Spanish wine flight. Both excellent. The food and the service and the atmosphere was excellent. The owner/chef Nick Holguin puts his own twist on Spanish tapas cuisine. Aside from being extremely personable, he is a talented chef. Beginning with the empanadas prepared Cuban style with slow roasted pork, diced into succulent bites resulting in a juicy flavorful empanada with delicious crust. The lamb was so tasty. Prepared medium rare and grilled to perfection. The boneless but skin-on chicken thigh was a real treat! Cooked to a golden crisp exterior, you needed a serrated knife to cut through the perfectly cooked skin. I've never had a chicken thigh like this before. Instead of dessert, we decided on another order of empanadas. Good choice!! read more

Just wow! Junction was an unplanned highlight of our 1st Anniversary weekend in Paso Robles, and it was just so special. The food, flavors, value, service, and experience. Being off the square (but just a short drive away) we didn't have to wait for a table which, in PR, makes for a Sunday morning luxury! Super cute shaded patio, very reasonably priced brunch drinks - we had their version of a sangria mimosa which was so much more delicious and complex than the sangria you get at most restaurants. Same with our brunch dishes, we shared a coca which is like a small pizza with Spanish toppings and a pastry-like crust and the breakfast tortilla. This is Spanish food made with hand-picked and curated Spanish ingredients, it's evident in the flavors. Nick and Ingrid Holguin, the chef/owners, treat you like family - just very social and welcoming. We'll never skip Junction when in the area from here out. read more

Service was slow and okay food. We had the Mixto board which was quite small for the price, hardly enough to split between two people. The empanadas were good but the chunks of walnuts inside were very hard. And finally the Almejas al Azafrán was soooooo salty it was tough to finish. The place has modern design and was a bit too loud for me, but the food was excellent! We ordered Rabo de Toro- oxtail and it was one of the best I've eaten! The m at wax falling off the bone and had rich flavor. The mushrooms were a great addition to the meat. Camarones - shrimp dish was a bit too spicy. Chili flakes overpowered any other flavor. Pollo ai Mojo- chicken was excellent. Crispy skin, juicy meat were complemented with chimichurri dressing and a mix of rice and beans- quite unusual, but very tasty. Very great food and service! The Paso food scene on the weekends is pretty insane if you don't have a reservation though so beware. With that being said, they were able to seat me and my husband outside and I was a little leery, considering it was in the 50s, but their heaters kept us toasty, and we were overall quite happy with our experience. read more
