Junior's Restaurant and Bakery is an absolute must-visit after a Broadway show! It has a vibrant, modern diner vibe that's fun and full of energy. The service is always friendly and attentive, and the food and drinks never disappoint. It hits the sweet spot right between casual comfort food and high-end dining. Highly recommended--you can't lose with a classic diner meal and great drinks!
We could not pass the temptation to try the authentic New York cheesecake. Juniors is an institution. The service is fast and friendly. It is a large establishment. We had no problem just walking in. The inside room was very cold. The patio was a bit windy but it didn't detract from enjoying the food and admiring the chaotic NY scene. We had the matzo ball soup, the pea soup and the potato pancakes with applesauce. The pea soup was bland and thick with bread croutons. Not my favorite. The pancakes and cheesecake were delicious. The matzo ball soup hit the spot on this chilly evening.

Stopped in to share a slice of their "famous" cheesecake. Staff were very kind. Inside was decorated nicely and large display of all the desserts. However there is no seating for anyone who doesn't want to stay and dine. So we stood and ate off a radiator cover. The cheesecake itself was just ok. I'd rate it a 6. I wouldn't put it even close to other cheesecakes I've had. The strawberry sauce leveled up the slice. To a 7 (maybe@ This was a one and done for us. At least we can say we tried it. Better than a slice you'd get in a deli but not as good as any other basic restaurant.
Junior's is a great place to satisfy your craving for diner-style food . As you walk in, you are greeted by a large glass display of cakes and cheesecakes. They have a huge dining area that gives you a feel of the 1950's diner. The servers are dressed up in all white with the white paper server cap. The chairs are the red leather booth seats. The only thing missing is the jukebox. Maybe there was one, but I just didn't walk around the entire dining area. The food comes in very large and generous servings. You better come hungry or be ready to take home some of the food. As much as I wanted tot ry all the cheesecakes, we only had room for one, to share. Overall, it was great experience. Service and food was good. The ambience was an added element to the experience. It was a bonus that Juniors is centrally located - so close tot one square.
This is a review only about the cheesecake. It there is any cheesecake you're looking for this place definitely does it well. The cheesecake is not too thick but has a pleasant texture. Im a suckered for softer cheesecakes but this place still makes a delicious cheesecake. THE IRISH CREAM CHEESECAKE: I thought I'd like this but it wasn't my favorite. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it didn't remind me of Irish cream much. I got more of a regular cheesecake flavor. CHOCOLATE MOUSSE CHEESECAKE: okay now this flavor is insane. I was so impressed by this one. The mousse is infused with the cheesecake and is fluffy, soft, and rhe flavor is decadent. It's the type of cheesecake you want to come back for. I will definitely be eating this one when I come back.

We had gotten it to go so can't comment on the service, overall it was good, nothing extraordinary, i was expecting to be wow'd by the cheesecakes given they are famous for it, but it was okay.

Its commercialized now and I feel likenit doesnt quite hit the notes. I want it creamer. I had the salted caramel and I was looking for the salt. And for that matter I wishlist was a white cheesecake with caramel swirl as opposed to Carmel in the cheesecake and a muted flavor. Our waited was super busy and it was hard to get a second glass of water. This is my 2nd time having Juniors in a year and I think I am moving on...
After a Broadway show in Times Square I was craving a sweet treat and decided to stop into Junior's Restaurant & Bakery. I went with a slice of the brownie overload cheesecake, and it absolutely hit the spot. It was rich, indulgent, and exactly what I wanted after a night at the theater. The cheesecake was perfectly creamy with just the right amount of chocolatey decadence. Was it overly fancy? No. Was it exactly what I needed to hit the spot? Yes!
When in New York, you find and compare cheesecakes. That's what one does, right?! Well, Junior's cheesecake is absolutely, hands down the best cheesecake eaten in the area! So good that I went back for a second slice the following day! The service is fantastic and the time from ordering to taking the slice out to eat on the patio took but a few minutes. The interior looks like a fun diner and brightly lit. Next time, I'll come sit inside for more offerings!! read more

Hands down the best cheesecake I've ever had. We absolutely loved it. Both the plain cheesecake and the strawberry cheesecake were phenomenal--rich, creamy, and unforgettable.We also had the French onion soup, which was very good. We tried the steak as well, and honestly, it was just okay. It wasn't anything special. But none of that really mattered because the cheesecake completely stole the show. It was worth the visit on its own, and it's something we'll remember for a very long time. Highly recommended! read more
Alexis is charming! Cool place, fun vibe, no wait at 10:30 Sat so perfect pick for brunch after arrival. Had to get the blinzes; price was daunting but it's because they are HUGE, more than enough for 2 with some nice bacon. We are stuffed. Great choice; they're deep fried (don't be scared) which made them light and fluffy and the strawberries were scrumptious. Spicy Bloody Mary's were spicy as requested (the rim was the thing!) if a little watery; maybe the spice killed the ice! Great experience. read more

Food is good. The price is getting more expensive!! I like their cakes however I have other cakes from other places for a lesser price and the quality was also top tier, more of nostalgic vibe really. read more

My husband and I stopped at Junior's in Times Square for breakfast. We both ordered the classic two-eggs breakfast and it was exactly what you want in a New York diner breakfast... simple, satisfying, and done right. I love the whole vibe of the place. It has that classic New York energy, and their branding feels iconic without trying too hard. It's one of those spots that just feels like part of the city experience. And of course, we never leave without getting their New York cheesecake. It's a must. We've made it a tradition to visit a Junior's whenever we're in New York, and it never disappoints. You really can't go wrong. read more
This is quite the cafe. Large inside with a bar area for fast seating. Cream pies when. You come in. The service is good. The bar tender Emily was the best. Drinks are great. The rest of the food was good for a cafe. If you're out late this is your food stop while in Times Square. read more
I hardly ever leave one star reviews, but this was disappointing. I went to Juniors across from Brooklyn Paramount before a show since I've heard wonderful things from locals... I ordered a medium cooked burger and It came out noticeably burnt, not just well done, actually charred to the point where the flavor was off. I'm surprised it was even sent out like that. The fries were fine, but the "cheese" on top was literally melted Kraft singles just laid over them. For a place with the reputation Juniors has, I expected better quality Maybe I caught them on an off night, but this wasn't worth it. I had to return the meal and walked out really hungry and ended up picking up some pizza at a nearby place Regarding the service, the waitress was extremely nice! When I'm back in the area I will give it another try read more
THE GOOD ---------------- + Excellent burgers!!! ++++ Pastrami Swiss Cheeseburger was thick, super duper juicy dripping oils, cooked perfectly medium to my liking and, most importantly, flavorful! ++++ Swiss Steakburger was the same verdict as the Pastrami Swiss Cheeseburger minus the Pastrami. ++++ Junior Chicken Fingers were crispy and crunchy. ++++ Strawberry Cheesecake was solid and just as I remember it when I had it at the original Junior's. The strawberry sauce was a little too artificial for me though. + Love the modern decor, but they still have touches from the original Junior's, like the all red color scheme and logo. + Spacious interior and lots of tables and seats inside. + Same menu as they have at the original Brooklyn Junior's. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Can be a longggg wait (30-60 min) during peak times on the weekend, especially the Holiday season, but if you join their waitlist on Yelp before arriving you can eliminate that wait completely. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = The waiting list seems to be well managed as there were 3 different employees with tablets calling out customer names to be seated. = On a December Saturday at around 12 PM, we were able to add our name to the longgg Yelp waiting list en route to the restaurant. Cool retro feeling restaurant located in Times Square serving up breakfast, lunch , dinner and absolutely scrumptious desserts! Service was promo, professional and our waiter Justin Michael was the best (and from St Louis area). Had the lunch special a very fresh and loaded garden salad , with lots of veggies and a homemade red wine vinaigrette dressing plus a chicken salad sandwich which was full of chicken and one of the best chicken salad's I've had in a long time. They ha be e counter seating plus they serve alcoholic drinks and the desserts are worth the calories. Definitely a place you will be able to enjoy something or two. read more

Yes it is touristy. For a good reason it is delicious. Fast and Friendly service. Even when full it's a quick wait. Get ANY cheesecake; you won't be disappointed. There are others who claim more traditional or authentic but Juniors is a bona fide classic the does not disappoint. read more
I had a delightful late afternoon lunch. I went with the split pea soup and corned beef sandwich, which was a great choice. The restaurant is bright and clean, and the service was friendly. It's right in the heart of Times Square, so you'll find a nice mix of locals and tourists. There's plenty of seating available, and it's conveniently located near the #1 subway line at 50th Street. read more
When in New York, Junior's is one of my favorite Diners. It is very popular as it is smack dab in the middle of Times Square/Theatre District. You will see so many people coming or going to a Broadway show, or just your average NY tourist. I've mostly dined at the other location on 45th Street between 7th & 8th Avenues. This one happens to be closer to the hotel I was staying at. The bar is easiest to get seated quickly as people are always on the go. Get the cheesecake for dessert or take it to go. I love coming here for dinner as the crowd is full of energy and once in a while, you'll catch the entire wait staff congregate a dining table singing Happy Birthday all together! read more
Let me tell you what, Junior's isn't the fanciest or most gourmet, but boy howdy do they have good chicken strips and steak fries! Yummy shakes too. Of course, I had to end my indulgence with a classic: chocolate egg cream. Perfection. This location is huge, but be sure to get your party on the Yelp waitlist ahead of arrival to avoid a wait. We had the most gracious server which is not always the case. Would recommend coming here after a show or any time you're in need of solid diner food. read more
I have walked by Junior's every time I have visited New York and scoffed at the hordes of tourists eating their famous cheesecake. Somehow, the Death Star pulled me in and I ordered a slice (Brownie Explosion). I am not a desserts guy but this is excellent cheesecake. It is very dense but not too sweet. I don't know how any cheesecake can be much better. I may never go to Junior's again but at least I know now--finally--that the cheesecake is legitimately very, very good. read more
Went here after seeing a show as one traditionally does! Got the chicken tenders (no photo) and cheesecake and tried one of the diet cream sodas- which was great! Our server was excellent. He was very funny and engaging with my friend and I- and it was her birthday! I loved the Oreo cheesecake and would definitely try it again! We obviously love the cheesecake here! Can't go wrong. Junior's is a classic institution. Not a place chasing trends or reinvention - this is where you come for old-school New York deli food, done the way it's supposed to be. I don't experiment here. I order the essentials. The two-meat sandwich is the move. Both meats are excellent, but the pastrami really stands out - thick-cut, juicy, and properly steamed. Not dry, not crumbly, not one of those sad versions you see everywhere else. It holds together, releases its juices, and stays tender all the way through. The corned beef is just as good. Rich beef aroma, classic brine-forward flavor, and plenty of moisture - salty in the right way, never harsh. The curing character is there without overwhelming the meat, and the seasoning penetrates all the way through, not just on the surface. One item that deserves special mention is the chopped liver (liver pâté), offered as a classic deli side. This is the real deal - old-school, unapologetic, and full-flavored. Not whipped into a bland mousse, but dense and savory with real texture. After working through two beef sandwiches, your mouth is already full of rich meat flavor, and the chopped liver somehow still makes perfect sense. Especially in colder weather, it's deeply comforting and grounding. And then there's the cheesecake. Dense, rich, and tightly structured - no sogginess, no wateriness, no fluff, no gimmicks. This is proper New York-style cheesecake. The plain cheesecake and the strawberry-topped version share the same base cake; the strawberries are simply added on top. That matters. It means the cake itself stands on its own. Even after two heavy sandwiches, it's hard to walk past the display case. The slice is big, and you're already full - but once it's on the table, you take your time and somehow finish it anyway. Slow bites, steady richness, and an unmistakably old-school texture. Junior's doesn't try to be clever. It doesn't need to. It keeps the classics alive - and does them right. That's more than enough for five stars. - Dr. C I don't chase hype. I was craving something sweet and realized there was a Junior's nearby! I love red velvet so landed on a slide of red velvet cake. It was really good and ate it over a couple days because of how sweet it was. When I arrived, the restaurant was extremely busy but the land for cheesecake or cake takeout moved very quickly. I will get another slice the next time I'm back in New York! read more
My bff and I stopped by juniors to have a little treat after seeing a Broadway show. I got a cup of matzoh ball soup which had delightful slices of carrot and lots of noodles and two big matzo balls! It was yummy and the broth was very soothing. I really enjoyed it. Of course I have to have matzoh ball soup but when visiting New York City. The weather is getting cool in this really was nice. My BFF got a turkey Reuben and really really enjoyed it. It was beautiful seeing all those layers of turkey meat. For dessert, I enjoyed a plain slice of cheesecake, which was really delicious. This is the best spot for authentic New York Cheesecake. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. We just showed up. We didn't have any sort of reservation reservations. It had a nice diner vibe. The tables were kind of close and we got to meet our table neighbors to the left. Who really added an extra charm to our experience. It's just such a nice place with genuine kind hearted people. I really wish I brought my ukulele here and I would write a song about it. I'm so grateful for all the nice people that makes such a wonderful day. Second time we came here after a show. Last time we also had the matzoh ball soup. A little better last time only bc it was a bit too salty today. Stop good though. For mains, my girlfriend ordered the bbq ribs and I ordered the seafood combo platter. Both were very good. Service was great both times! Will definitely return! read more

Well we wanted to see what the hype was all about. Tourist trap. The food was ok. Seemed like they had an off night. Service took forever, but I can understand. The girl that was serving us was also tending the bar. The place was packed. The staff really should have been better organized. The ambiance was loud and lively. The chicken finger came out cold, but they were good about re heating it. The wings were good. I ordered a burger but it wasn't cooked correctly either. At that point it was like "they aren't going to get it right so just deal with it." The cheese cake was good. read more

Stopped in for desert after the Sirius XM concert. The decorum was beautiful. It was beautifully coordinated in red and brown. There's a lot of seating and very spacious. The service was pleasant and our waitress was kind even though we only stopped in for desert. I had the raspberry swirl cheesecake. I wasn't too fond of this cheesecake because of the top layer. It wasn't soft, it was more on the corse side feeling like plastic. The strawberry cheesecake was the highlight of the evening, it was so tasty that I took a slice to go. It was soft, moist, and that sultry taste and the presentation was all of that, and more. Absolutely delicious! My plus one didn't like the cream icing because it was too much. Maybe if she ate it along with the cake and not save it for last, she may have enjoyed it. We didn't want any food because we already ate but I did see some items that would bring me back. Maybe not in the city but maybe Brooklyn. read more
