I loved it here! Hands down my new favorite restaurant in Austin. I ordered the filet and it was truly the best steak I've ever had. Cooked to perfection, medium rare and the most perfectly prepared cut it basically melted in my mouth. The focaccia bread was so fresh and soft. I loved their wine and their amazing service! We showed up a little early and they accommodated it and we had such a nice table. I loved the lighting and ambiance, the small, intimate set up with a low noise level allows you to have a great conversation with your dinner. My husband and I came for date night on a Saturday Night. We made reservations the night before, so we had to eat at 5:15pm. The vibe inside is very modern and sleek. The staff is really knowledgeable and super nice! We came for Restaurant Week and was very pleased. For $60, you get a four course meal with a variety of options. My favorites were the following: - Stracciatella - String-y cheese paired well with peaches and absolutely delicious focaccia - Hamachi Crudo - Only get 4 pieces, but each were fresh and vibrant! - Summer Salad - Loved the goat cheese and pecan on this salad. - Grilled Branzino - You basically get the whole fish with a few pieces of artichoke! It was alot of protein, but all very fresh - Post Oak Grilled Short Rib - Cooked very well with an apple puree. My husband was pleased with the size - Torta Di Pere - Essentially a deconstructed apple strudel without being overly sweet My husband and I were stuffed at the end of the meal and food pacing was fantastic throughout. THE BIG: East Austin fine dining Italian Restaurant. The food here is insipired by Northern Italian cuisine. Parking is available via valet or street parking. Gorgeous interior that screams moody modern. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came here for ARW and wanted to try their 4 course menu. My wife loves fish and got the Branzino while I got the grilled short rib that was *chefs kiss*. The appetizers were quite small with us trying out the Stracciatella and the hamachi crudo. Good thing the salad was there, which was actually a big portion. Finally for dessert, we got the deconstructed apple strudel and a chocolate cake. Wait staff was amazing, kudos! I have to say this is probably my favorite restaurant in Austin. Every time I come in it's a different experience and the food is great. I love sitting at the high top bar and being able to watch the chefs cook the food and make the drinks. You can even talk to them while they're prepping everything! The restaurant itself is beautiful. It's dimmly lit with outdoor and indoor seating. My favorite part is walking in through the big door at the front. They have an a la cart menu and a pre set menu to choose from. They also change their menu a lot so your not stuck with the same dishes every time you come in. The whole meal is surprisingly very filling. By the time the main dish comes around I'm definitely feeling stuffed. They are also really great at accommodating allergies and preferences. I highly recommend the cacio e Pepe. I've never had one that's so rich and creamy. No other cacio compared to Juniper's. The puffy potato is also a must try. A very unique dish. The only downside is my experience with the non alcoholic drinks. I just feel like the price to drink size doesn't really fit well. read more

Came with a group and they really push on everyone at the table to choose either prix fixe or A la carte but everyone is to choose the same...bummer as that doesn't cater well for ppl with food allergies or simply don't want to do a prix fixe with others at the table. Good concept maybe for 2 ppl vs a group. Echoing others on price point and what you get. We had the scallop crudo and it literally is 1 scallop sliced into 2 pieces. Buccatini was super salty. Overall, maybe our server had an off night, was rushing on getting us to order, no recommendations , was fine until we asked to split the bill and our server definitely showed her frown upon that. Ambiance is dark and modern. At 6pm on a Sunday, it wasn't too busy which is nice. We've been before on a Thursday / Friday night and it was packed. Our server was knowledgeable about all the dishes and came by to check on us from time to time. We ordered the 5pc prix fixe menu and the oyster. The whipped ricotta on the bread was so good. And the bread seemed like it might have been a sourdough base which I like - chewier We loved it all. The pei oysters, the Hamachi Crudo, the little lettuce all had amazing flavors from the delicious sauces they put on them. The Cacio pepe was super creamy just the way we like it. The short rib was very tender with a crab hy outside. And the milk and honey dessert was a perfect end to the meal. My favorites were the oysters and Cacio e pepe. Went to Juniper for dinner with a friend. We were immediately greeted by the waitress who throughly explained the prix fixe menu and a la carte options. We decided to try the prix fixe menu. The house focaccia with butter and honey was delicious. I started with the puffy potato. They were rich and fluffy. For the next course, I had the endive salad. I enjoyed the consistently and the citrus notes with pomegranate. The butternut squash in the saffron risotto was savory. I had the roasted diver scallops for the main course. They were cooked well. I especially enjoyed the pepper puree. For dessert, I had the milk and honey. The texture of the white chocolate cremeux with the honey gelato was smooth and creamy. Came in for Valentine's Day dinner, they had a pre-set menu, but we ordered off the regular. The short rib was amazing! Great portion, especially to share, as well as the cacio e Pepe which was very cheesy and not over cooked. The beef carpaccio isn't something usually order but it was thicker slices with dollops of horseradish cream, capers, parm cheese, arugula and a nice salt. The grilled octopus wasn't chewy however it had no flavor, it was surprisingly bland. We sat at the Chef's Counter tonight and it was a fun spot for dinner! It was a great location to watch the bustle of the kitchen. Been here a few times but this recent visit was a big miss all because of the pasta. For starters the staff, bartender (forgot her name), and kitchen were fabulous. You can tell the chefs work super hard. On to the food, little gem lettuce salad was on point. The big miss was the Paccheri ragu pasta dish. First off Paccheri are basically extra large rigatoni, large tubes. This dish featured small ribbon type pasta. Why call it Paccheri? The ragu sauce had a super distinct and overpowering amount of nutmeg flavor and all topped with a massive amount of sliced green olives. I get that a little bit nutmeg is meant to counter the gaminess of the meat but come on guys. These additions were so overpowering and ruined what could have been a much better dish. If you want a unique culinary experience, try the Prix Fixe menu at Juniper. I brought my partner here to celebrate his birthday, and we had such a great time. The Prix Fixe had a lot of great options. Our server took down each of our five courses at the start and paced them out throughout a 1.5 hour dinner reservation. Definitely get a reservation. We went on a Thursday night, and it was packed. We started with the focaccia with whipped ricotta and honey. The focaccia was so thick and chewy in the best way. The ricotta melted in your mouth like butter with the honey giving it a sweet kick. The puffy potatoes were so airy, and the dip packed a creamy punch. The salads were amazing and beautiful. I almost didn't want to eat it. The Cacio e Pepe was decadent and creamy; I didn't leave a spare noodle on the plate. The short rib was very tender and left just enough chew for a satisfying bite. I thought it was very well seasoned and had a nice crunchy exterior. My partner loved the scallops. By the time dessert rolled around, we were stuffed! But we ate it anyway! My partner loved the candy bar. The milk and honey was such a unique dessert. Honey gelato served over a crunchy crumb with a honey comb-esque topper, and beside it, a sweet, white chocolate cremeux with edible flowers and jam. I've been thinking about it for a week now. Service was also excellent. Our server was funny and was very excited about the menu which made us excited! Sensory wise- it's pretty dim and intimate which I loved and appreciated as a neurodivergent person. We had a candle at our table. The noise levels inside were at a medium level. There is valet and adjacent lot parking available for a fee. I felt that the pricing was fair for the quantity and quality of the food we got- each course averaging about $17. We reserved seats for a Thursday night at the chef's counter which I recommend to see the kitchen at work. You can't go wrong with the standard indoor seating if the chef's counter isn't available. We had no wait and service was prompt. We chose The Prix Fixe option and our server, I think his name was Josh, explained the menu and options very well and our dishes came out in a timely manner, not rushed or a long wait. He also made sure we didn't have any dietary restrictions. Each dish was flavorful and for us overall it was the perfect amount of food. They're smaller dishes but a good way to try out a little bit of everything. Come with a decent appetite! The service was great and the staff was very friendly and attentive. When we first arrived here we got valet and that was $12. Then we walked in and we're greeted and told our table would be ready shortly because the people at our table had just gotten their desserts. I took a star away for these two reasons. We waited for 20 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. We were greeted immediately by our server when we were seated. She took our appetizer order and made sure we were comfortable making a decision about whether or not we would want the Prix Fixe or just ordering off the menu. We decided to go with the Prix Fixe $85 a person. It was delicious! The server suggested that because then we could share everything if we wanted. The Focaccia came out first and it was delicious. The butter and honey spread was divine! Then the second course came and the salads were also just as tasty. One gentleman in our party is not a fan of salads and ate his all up! That is how you k ow it's a good salad! After the salad came our pasta. We all got the Cacciao E Pepe and it was heavenly! Two people in our group gave it high praise and that is unlike them! I personally wish I only had this dish because it was so wonderful! I did not want it to end! After it did end there were still 2 more courses. Then we got our short rib and the scallops. I highly recommend both because they are great! Very tasty! My table also got an item that was on the a la carte menu which was the Octopus. It made all of us happy! The desserts came after the meats and we were so full we only had room to try the desserts which shocked me! I have never been so full that I could not finish a decadent amazing dessert but that happened to me. I got the pumpkin brûlée and my husband got the Candy Bar. Overall, aside for the wait and lengthy wait to be seated, I would recommend this restaurant to everyone! Visited Juniper for my birthday and it was one of the best celebratory meals I've had. First of all, the service was impeccable and our waiter made our experience that much better. The restaurant had a great ambiance, and I loved the open kitchen concept. The quality and taste of the food is incredible too. We had the prix fixe option and the portions were just perfect. The Cacio e Pepe, beef tartare and the crudo were to die for. I would definitely come back for these Also, at the end they brought me a dessert with a candle and also gave me a little box that had baked goods and the menu of the day signed by all the entire Juniper team. The food highlights: - Ribeye Tartare , so unique with all the flavors brought together and crunch of nuts and fantastic notes of lemon too - Little Lettuce , this was a light yet super flavorful salad that was refreshing and the perfect amount - Cacio e Pepe - almost an Alfredo with how creamy but light and refreshing. So so tasty and I highly recommend this. - Ricotta Gnochi w/ lobster , this was the best pasta dish as the flavors were so unique and intensely rich. This place is great for special occasions. FYI, they don't offer a happy hour menu anymore. It was a surprise bc we had read a magazine article about hh here which was the reason my group of friends decided to meet up here. I came here to celebrate two bdays in July and August. The first time we each ordered our own entrees and the second time my group took part of the pre fixe menu. It costs a pretty penny but I would recommend it. As this is more of a special occasion place at its price point, I would come back for this experience as the food is delicious, the courses are mostly timed well and offered a variety of flavors. In terms of service, for me it was impeccable however there was one member of our party who is GF. They were nice enough to substitute the house made focaccia with crudites but their crudites arrived after the focaccia and when the rest of us were already well into the next course. They insisted that it was being prepared when we inquired but I thought it could have been coursed out more in line with the rest of the patrons so that we all had something to eat. Everything I got to taste was delicious but the standouts were the Cacio e Pepe and the Short rib. I would go back for those alone. I sometimes still day dream about the Cacio e Pepe. Yum! The Housemade Focaccia and the Little Gem salad were a close second. I didn't care too much for the Candy Bar dessert so I'd order something else next time. I like chocolate but if I'm eating a dessert with gold flakes at a fancy place, I need it to wow me. It was a friends birthday and the menu was made with happy birthday Stacey printed on the top! It was such a special thing to do. At the end of the meal, all the staff signed a menu and presented her with a gift box of snacks and a treat of assorted spices!!!! The food was AMAZING! I am very nervous eating things out of my normal box, but a friend I was with is a competitive chef, and eats anything and everything, so I trusted her judgement for picking the food. I swear we had almost one of everything in the menu and shared it all. The Prosecco gelee was fun, theory left lettuce was incredible, the grilled focaccia was delicious. Usual Experience: 5/5 This Experience: 3/5 My fiancé and I have been to Juniper multiple times and for multiple special occasions (Valentines Day, anniversaries etc.) The food and service are consistently phenomenal and we truly enjoy the restaurant and the atmosphere. We chose to celebrate our Engagement at Juniper and unfortunately had our least pleasant experience on this evening. I ordered an excellent dish - Crab Bucatini - which was not on the a la carte menu, but on the prix fixe menu, which begins at $95, with a $25 upcharge for the Bucatini. I ordered 'Crab Bucatini', which was delivered to me with 1oz of caviar that I did not request, but assumed was a special treat due to our Engagement. At the end of the evening we find that the caviar was added to our bill, at a whopping $120 charge for my dish alone. When discussing with our waiter Oscar, and requesting that the caviar charge be completely removed we received push back and instead were given 50% off of the dish rather than the true price of the dish. As this was such a special occasion, we decided not to make a scene - but this left us feeling unpleasant as we have been patrons multiple times before and this occasion was extremely special. As previously mentioned the service and food at Juniper is always incredible, it was just disappointing that on such a special occasion we received such a fright on our bill and push back as we requested the change to be made. I had super high expectations for this spot as everything looked so yummy on yelp. Came here and ordered a variety of things from the prix fixe menu. Id say it started off absolutely amazing with the salad being one of the highlights (which was weird) as well as the appetizers. The potato puff was pretty good but the crudo was very yummy. Sadly, once it got to the entrees it was a bit disappointing. My cacio e pepe was extremely overloaded with cheese and that was all I could taste. It was way too rich and heavily seasoned. The extra truffles i added unfortunately, had no flavor (never had that happen before). It was bland and did not contribute to the flavor of the cacio e pepe. My boyfriends pasta dish which was the only red sauce pasta was way too salty to even eat. The service was amazing however and our server quickly replaced it with another pasta dish which was ok. The cod we ordered was also.. again extremely salty as well as the sauce on the ribeye. Besides the sauce on the ribeye though the sous vide was excellent and it tasted pretty good. The zeppole we ordered for dessert was a let down as well- it was just very doughy. Overall the ambiance was perfect for date night or a special occasion, but the entrees that should be the highlight being a let down was a pretty big part of the reason why it was a 4/ borderline 3 star for me. Went once a year ago and LOVED it. Delicious lobster pasta (I usually think lobster pasta is just a gimmick but this one was truly delicious) and a phenomenal sea bass entree. The old fashion we got though was not that great. Focaccia is good, regular focaccia, but the hot honey is too hot for my liking. Would have given it 5 stars last year with our experience but 4 with my most recent visit. I also acknowledge that their menu is ever changing. I just went for a celebration and did the tasting menu and I was pretty underwhelmed. Truffle risotto was really good ( I dont like truffles though, but when i took them off the actual risotto was really good. My partner loved it with the truffles thought.) Seared scallop was actually also really good! Both entrees I found to be good but not amazing (steak and pork). My partner loved the mushroom that came with the steak. Im not a fan of the honey dessert because its a bit too rich for me but it is some unique flavors and a good combo of textures! The Don vito drink (once you mix it) was REALLY good - reminiscent of a sangria Ambiance was great - very good music! :) Service was good! Went here for the pre fixed brunch menu and overall had a really great time. The ambiance was nice and comfortable. The menu was 3 courses and 1 shared appetizer. The appetizer was tasty and filling. It was a little bit of prosciutto, two doughnuts and a parfait to share. My next plate was the beef carpaccio. This was my first time having carpaccio and it was sooooo zesty and delicious!! I was a little underwhelmed by the fluffy pancake. The batter was a bit grainy and a little dry. The cherry mascarpone duo was yummy though. My main entree was the rollatini w/ bfast sausage bolognese. This was the star of the show. Amazingggg flavor. I added on a zeppoli w/mascarpone and caramel for dessert which were equally as good. Super cute place and would definitely love to come back for dinner. Pro tip: add an over easy egg to your meal and throw it on top of the bolognese. You won't regret it. ;) read more

Had date night here a few months ago, and while the service was great and the food was delicious, it wasn't particularly memorable or unique. For it claiming to be a high end dining place and having a high price point, it really didn't fit the vibe. It was a very casual ambience, most people weren't even dressed up nor were the staff. I wouldn't recommend this place for a special occasion, nor do I think the prices justify the food at all. We had the puffy potatoes, caccio de pepe, little gem salad, and steak, which again, were delicious, particularly the little gem salad and steak, but nothing memorable.
