Visited Just Spoon's Cafe in Broward and ordered the Dwight flight. Came with curry shrimp & grits, fried catfish & grits and stiffed salmon & grits. The stuffed salmon & grits had a really uncared for taste. We spoke with our server (Meme) who was great) she spoke with the front house manager (JOE) who stated, I understand but my hands are tied." The stuffed salmon bowl was UNTOUCHED!!!!!! Unfortunately they were not able to accommodate us with another option. That was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING..... I recommended to Joe that he should probably have his staff cook that dish for him so that he could be made aware of the taste...... In addition, the women's bathroom floor was not wet but dangerous oily/ slippery I also let JOE know this early on in our visit... VERY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER TODAY!!! IT WILL BE A WHILE BEFORE I COME BACK...... I left with a bad taste in my mouth and in my experience...
Very warm hospitality here and given the strip mall location I thought the interior decor was done very well. No reservations so we sat at the bar seats. We opted for the basic. Which was pretty basic but the chicken strips were made perfectly. The highlight here is the honey butter croissant. I would probably get 5 of those to go.
Before Just Spoons Cafe existed in it's previous iteration it was called Spoons Bar & Grille. If you care about history facts, I thought that was super cool. Last month was my 4th time at Just Spoons and over time the service, experience and the food gets better. The space is intimate & small but if you are passionate about supporting small & local businesses then give Just Spoons a try. You won't regret it!
This place never disappoints when it comes to their food and service. The hostess was helpful when we wanted an actual table instead of the booth across from the hostess station. Our waitress Kea was very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. She explained how the banana bread pudding was coming out and I was sold. The banana bread pudding french toast with Cajun chicken was so DELICIOUS!! I love the creativity when it comes to the meals and how everything pairs well together. The music was loud because we were right under the speaker we tried to move but the tables were booked. We were still able to have a conversation and managed being at that table.
I love supporting Black owned businesses and Just Spoons is one of the top brunch spots in Broward. It's always a vibe! The grits are tasty!!!! I always go just for the grits. It's good eats here. The prices can be a bit high but it's worth it in my opinion. Please make sure to make a reservation so you're not waiting too long but other than that it's always a pleasure.
The food was absolutely delicious. There was five of us. We all shared and tasted each other's food. Everybody's food was really really good. The food came out extremely quick. Our waitress was very nice and very informative. The only bad thing I will have to say is that there was a long wait. But it makes sense because the place is so small. But it was worth the wait. Also, they have a 20% service fee that does not go towards your waiter, which I think it's pretty crazy.
While in town we tried Just Spoon again. This time at a different location. Everything was still amazing! Food, service, and atmosphere! The bathroom floor was very slippery. There was a floor sign there but still slippery. Also, they automatically add a 20% service charge to the bill which can't be amended. Wish I would have known this up front.
A quick pit stop in Fort Lauderdale during a layover, led to some delicious soul food. Just Spoons came with it in terms of presentation, customer service , and quality /quantity . This is a nice cozy spot , with subtle music playing in the background. The space is welcoming and has adequate seating. The mango lemonade was a great thirst quencher . Price wise, I think could be more reasonable but the portion size is worth it. I legit wanted to take a nap after this meal. I came hungry and couldn't even finish. The croissant and honey biscuit was so tasty. The catfish was seasoned and breaded well. The home fries were even underrated and paired well with the cheese eggs . I throughly enjoyed my meal here and would rank this high on places to choose from within the area .
All I can say is yes, yes, yes! My friends and I stopped in for the weekday brunch as a party of three and we received a warm welcome and we were promptly seated. The restaurant is small but not cramped, more intimate than anything. The menu selection was plentiful but not overwhelming. The food and drinks were kind of pricey at first take but once the drinks and food arrived I immediately saw why! The presentation was detailed and lovely. The plate was overflowing! And the flavor, OMG the flavor! The grits are the creamiest, best tasting grits I have ever had. The mimosas are STRONG, only one is needed in my opinion. My only concern was the fried lobster was slightly overcooked but the robust flavor made it hardly noticeable! This place definitely gets allllll the stars and I will be back time after time for those grits!!!! I highly recommend trying this place out!!
Went to Just Spoons Cafe for a Sunday Brunch and the food was mouth watering. Our Server Mohammad was very detailed oriented and despite the packed house, he was so attentive. The grits were so creamy and delicious The salmon / crab cakes were seasoned to perfection. I can't wait to go back. Tip: I would definitely recommend making a reservation!!!!
Black-owned Southern soul food breakfast spot that is always busy! I can finally see why! Made a decision to try and dine here the weekend of my birthday. My BFF and I stopped in for brunch on our way to a staycation down south. Without a reservation, it took an hour to wait for a table but once we got in we admired the decor and ambiance of the venue. Service was friendly and fairly quickly. I ordered the shrimp and Grits (seasonal offering) and a honey biscuit that unfortunately never came out. The food was delicious, served hot and a pretty decent portion sized for price and value. We opted out of ordering drinks since there wasn't a full bar and the drinks seemed sweeter than we would like and a trad bit pricier than we would prefer. Gratuity is included on your tab. I'd recommend Just Spoons and plan on visiting again!
Visited Just Spoons for lunch after reading about it online. The decor is very 1920's, very dark and cozy. We were greeted at the door and shown to our table and given menus. I selected the chicken sandwich and my partner selected the whole fish. I was warned that the chicken sandwich is spicy, but I like a little heat so I said that was fine. While we were waiting, the waitress brought us a complimentary honey butter, croissant and a honey butter biscuit. My partner liked the croissant so much he ordered another one. The music was very loud l, especially considering the size of the restaurant, but was told they were unable to adjust the volume. After a while, the food came out and the presentation was very nice. I took a bite of my sandwich and they are not joking about the heat. It was so hot spice wise, I could not even eat two bites. I also finished my drink very quickly and it was not refilled, so I sat there with a burning mouth for a long time until I got a refill. My partner enjoyed the fish and sadly, I just sat there and watched him eat. I must say, the potato wedges are delicious. Towards the end of the meal, I went to the restroom and the floor inside and in the hallway were so slippery I almost slipped 3 times, so I let the waitress know. Gratuity is included in the bill and the waitress told us multiple times that they split tips with everyone and extra is appreciated. The bill was $146 after tax, tip, and extra tip, pretty pricey for lunch, in my opinion, but YOLO! I did take my sandwich home and rinsed it off and reheated it in the airfryer. Had to toss the bread since it was soaked in the sauce. Still spicy, but tolerable. Good soul food

I have had this restaurant on my list for some time now! Tried twice to get in, but the wait was long! The third time's the charm! The trick is to make a reservation during the week or use Yelp to get on their waitlist. I was on the waitlist for an hour & a half before I got there & still had to wait another 20 minutes! Once ur in, it's a one hour turnaround & the chef doesn't disappoint! We ordered the French toast platter with 3 different types & all were delicious, but the strawberry one was my fave! We shared the omelette, which was made with Gouda cheese! The non-alcoholic beverages r on point! I took the rest of it home! Service is wonderful & the ambiance is a vibe with the best tunes playing in the background!! Go give it a try! I will b back!! read more

10/10. Food was great, I'd definitely run it back. Grits were perfect, soft, not super grainy, thick! The stuffed salmon was perfect, and all of the sides were great. The inside is nice, kind of dim lighting but it fits the place for sure. The seating is convenient, loved the chairs. We also got a mimosa pitcher, for 3, it was worth it. MAKE A RESERVATION ON WEEKENDS!! Reservation was 12:45 seated by 12:45. Don't join the waitlist, I swear it doesn't work. On weekends each table have an hour to eat, this is no problem because they bring the food out within 5 mins after ordering & it was hot. Food was delicious & will be returning soon. Everything was so nice. Yes, there was a bit of a wait. But once we got inside it was such a vibe. The ambiance, the music, the staff, everything about my service was superb. The food was *chefs kiss*. Never in a million years did I think I would find a single human that makes grits better than me lol. And the fried catfish and fried salmon were too delicious to describe. Maaaaan another Black owned Gem! Just spoons got it right! It's a southern feel breakfast spot that checks all the boxes. My girlfriend recommended this spot because she's knows I love well ran African American restaurants. Just spoons is just that in every aspect. The wait is a bit much but the line at the door is warranted because the restaurant is an experience. The food is phenomenal and the staff is nice and attentive. The R& B and old school put you in the right mood. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and fits the "just spoons" theme. If you want an authentic southern breakfast then please visit just spoons! Just spoons is one of my favorite brunch spots in Fort Lauderdale. It's definitely one of a kind from the atmosphere, the food , the music selection and the friendly severs. From the time you walk through the door they make you feel like you're visiting your grandmas house with family around the holidays. The atmosphere is inviting. The decor gives black jazz club vibes which I love. My favorite dish is the curry shrimp and grits which is mouth watering and their brioche style French toast. Both the strawberry and the vanilla bean are equally delicious! They have a plethora of drinks to choose from . My favorites are the Black Lives Matter drink as well as the brunch punch. They are tasty but will sneak up on you depending on how many you have. I highly recommend and strongly recommend if you're visiting got lauderdale that you make this spot a must visit before you leave! read more

Brought my dad here with my daughter for brunch. My dad is a very picky eater and hates going out. My daughter fortunately placed our name on the waiting list before coming, there was an 1 1/2 wait. When we arrived we only waited less than 15 min to be seated. The place was jam packed. Looks like they have made some updates to the place from the last time I was there. Very nice ambiance and the music is great. Our waiter was amazing. Very attentive and quick. We ordered a pitcher of mango and Prosecco. It was enough to fill our 3 glasses multiple times. The curry shrimp and grits is a must try. It comes with eggs your way and your choice of honey glazed biscuit, croissant or toast. The grits were creamy and delicious, the curry shrimp added so much flavor to the cheesy grits. I enjoyed every bite. It's a must try. My dad also ordered the shrimp and grits and was so amazed. So my first time here was a wonderful experience! My waitress Sashay was great and made great recommendations. It's a quaint space and the music selection was top tier. Very good for small groups or dates. The tropical twist non alcoholic drink was delicious! Not too sweet and was in a BIG Cup! This catfish and shrimp with grits and eggs were AMAZING!!! I had Gouda cheese in the grits and cheddar cheese on my scrambled eggs and bbaaaabbbyyyy it was perfect no salt needed! The catfish was nice and crispy and the shrimp was grilled to perfection, but I do beg ASK FOR THE CURRY SAUCE you will NOT regret it!! Oh and for the catfish ask for some hot sauce ( I know I know) but still just ask! But this honey butta croissant!!!!!!! Whheeewww the star of the show!!! It was soooooo damn gooodd!!! While on vacation we were looking for some good food!!! First spot we stopped in! Managers were great, servers were friendly....and baybeeee the food in there checked all the boxes! Hot, fresh, seasoned, nice portions! My husband and I shared the catfish and grits meal! So Delicious! The drinks were also amazing! I chose the non alcoholic tropical twist!!! Amazing food, Phenomenal staff!! The omelette is super creamy and cheesy! It's a great twist to the breakfast staple. The fried chicken and shrimp are tasty compliments to the Alfredo! The grits are always delectable and the added strawberry butter (to the biscuit) is my favorite every time I visit! The tropical twist fruit drink with the scoop of pineapple Italian ice is always the first taste of Just Spoons! Try this omelette while it's still in season! read more

So I went to Just Spoons for the first time today recommended by my aunties and a few other folks and can I say they did not disappoint. The Vibe was everything good music, comfortable chairs, it was a little close for my liking but very very nice. It was a real vibe all the handsome people. Now let's talk about the service - we were a little nervous when we say a seating time limit - how can you eat in an hour - easy we were in and out in 45 mins and didn't feel rushed. As soon as you sat down the waitress was at your table talking your cook to order meal. And within 15 mins we had our pitcher of brunch punch mimosa honey butter croissant and our food. Now let's talk about the food 5 all the way the food was bussin bussin. The photos do not do it justice and we all had at least half of our food to go. Now I can't say it's for everyone because the price was omg but it was worth every penny I don't mind paying money for all that we received and I have 2 more meals to eat off that one plate. We were rewarded for throwing caution to the wind. After reading some of the negative reviews we put our names on the waitlist thru Yelp (plug) and set the coordinates in our GPS. We dressed "brunch sexy" and made our way. Catfish & grits for moi and bourbon berries French toast for madame. It was so good that the next day was just like groundhog day or 50 1st dates if ya know what I mean. We're not sure when we will make it back to Fort Lauderdale but when we do... Listen that biscuit and honey is enough to make me book a flight and come back to Florida. The food was delicious and flavorful. The catfish was amazing and it was a huge portion. I was able to divide the meal in half for two meals. While I didn't care for the potatoes, everything else was great. Service was superb. I recommend you go online and get added for a reservation because they can get really busy as well. I can't wait to come back and visit again. read more

This place was absolutely amazing! I was a little nervous arriving at opening on a Saturday without a reservation but I signed up on the wait list and not even 5 min later we were being seated (would definitely recommend a reservation if you can) The customer service from the door to the table was 10 out of 10!! The greeter welcomed up and let us know about the 1 hour table hold. The drinks were amazing!!! We (party of 4) were a little upset when the waitress informed us the stuffed salmon as out of stock however, everything else was ridiculously amazing! The champ sampler was everything we needed! The shrimp and grits, Catfish and grits and the chicken with sauce was top tier! I wouldn't normally order the bacon maple sandwich but because it was on the sampler, I took a bite. I was so blown away and pleased with the flavors. The croissant *chefs kiss*. Portions sizes were perfect! We were all throughly pleased from start to finish! I spoke with the owners fiance, who was also dressed to impressed. I thanked him for the experience and let him know we enjoyed everything! Thankfully they have a waitlist on Yelp but I still got on the list, drive from Miami, got there to still wait BUT the wait is definitely worth the wait. I do appreciate that the security did keep popping up outside to keep us updated and check in with us. It is small inside and there's larger parties so I get it. I loved my servers energy! She definitely made it a nice experience. It was my sisters birthday weekend and she definitely made her feel special. We got the brunch punch pitcher. Now this is a pitcher! You will definitely get more than enough servings from this. It was not too sweet and gave a nice buzz. We definitely took the rest to go. It was more than enough for two. I had the smothered pork chops. So seasoned. The vanilla French toast was on point. Honey croissant and biscuits were tasty. The kitchen knows what they are doing back there. My friends & I grabbed Brunch here. The staffs were all professional, dressed the same; the security guard was also kind and friendly... The host explained their process for RSVP....; the food was delicious, reasonably priced and plenty! I wished they offered vegan options but they do have vegetarians & pescatarians. Visiting from out of town, I was so excited to come here! If you're considering coming here, I'd Suggest reading the most recent reviews and replies from management. Should help to inform your decision on coming here. Waited 2 hours (1 hour on wait list and additional hour after initial suggested wait time)..... Here's how it went.. Floors were sticky and it was very humid in the restaurant. Feels like they do not have air conditioning. As a matter of fact, the owner checked us in and he had a personal fan blowing just on him. If you have hips or a booty, be prepared to be uncomfortable if you are not seated on one of the benches. After waiting two hours, we were ready to order. First thing our server told us was that there was a wait on grits.... *insert Eye roll from the server* When we showed our surprise. After waiting two hours this was very disappointing..... Considering it was brunch time, this should've been ready to go. Nikki was our server. She was very disconnected and was confused on what we ordered, even though they have a set menu with no substitutions... She brought out my side well before I got my entree (about 15 minutes).... We noticed other folks seated after us that received food and a more attentive server. Especially through COVID, a lot of restaurants are automatically charging gratuity, which I think impacts the service that you receive. It was clear to us that our server was guaranteed that tip. Food came out hot and was very tasty. We order the Catfish & grits & French toast & chicken. Catfish was salty. Went to the ladies room and walked in to toilet water all over the floor. There was a "caution" sign but Disgusting never the less. From toilet to the door, there was water EVERYWHERE. As much as we pay for food and drink here (which is very over priced $18 drinks for example--Im from the DMV and this is a reach considering the ambiance and service) we should at least have a decent bathroom to go to..... Considering this is black owned with black clientele...... This all says alot. We should have an elevated experience, considering all of the above. We come dressed in our best and pay for the best so we should receive the best. Final word..... Take it to go, if you must. But I won't be spending another dime here. read more

I can't believe I almost forgot to alert you to this amazing restaurant. So from the parking lot you would not expect all you are about to experience. I say that just because outside is pretty simple you would almost miss it. Once inside though!!!!! Good ambiance, Good vibes right away. The food though let's get right to it. I went with a large group so I got to see a lot of dishes. I personally had the peach cobbler chicken and waffles( hope I said that right) AMAZING!!!!! I went for the Oxtail and grits hope they bring back soon but I was not disappointed with my substitute. Not even one complaint from a table of 10. I already have a reservation coming up because I could not get the food off my mind. Been a while since I went to a restaurant that caught me off guard like that. Great job !!!! My sister and I decided to give this place a try for Sunday Brunch. Keep in mind, this spot is not that big so there will be a wait. Anyway, once you are inside, very cozy and clean. Great staff and nice ambiance. I had the Catfish and Grits and my sister had the Smothered Pork Chops. Everything was cooked to order and fresh. OMG, the Honey Glazed croissant is a must-have, so make sure you get one! We both enjoyed the Electric Boogie Mimosa. It is so delicious and not too sweet, just perfection. Our waiter was Sean and he is absolutely the BEST(and handsome), hands down. Very attentive and ensured that we enjoyed our drinks and meal. He checked on us throughout our dining experience. I cannot wait to return to try some other items on the menu that I had my eye on. My only suggestion would be to have edited music selections being that I did notice children in the establishment. Overall, a nice brunch spot. I will forever support Black-owned establishments that provide great customer service and make my dining experience great. Highly recommend! I was happy to come support this black owned business but the food was ridiculously SALTY!! The most saltiest food I ever had in my life! Both of our meals was extremely salty. I had the red snapper meal with some potatoes and shrimps which looked really good but I had to throw it away sadly I was so disappointed I couldn't enjoy this beautiful meal at home. The place is a vibe with good music, it reminds me of chill spots in bk New York.the server barely checked on us or checked to see if we was enjoying our meals. We Made reservations 10 days in advance for 12pm which was a great idea. As there were a few unhappy people waiting outside waiting for a table. When we got there we were greeted and seated immediately but........ before we could even sit we were told we had an hour to eat!! I was shocked!!! I've been to many restaurants and I've never EVER been given a time limit to eat. That definitely didn't sit well with us. Here's the timeline of the hour: 12:05pm Mohammad (our waiter) greeted us and took our drink order. 12:15pm we received our drinks and placed our orders for food by 12:20pm. We got our food at 12:35pm. That left us with 25 minutes to eat and mingle. The food was tasty and if you like creamy and cheesy grits, you'll like this! The catfish was seasoned to perfection! Shrimp and eggs were good to. Ohhhh and the honey biscuits were to die for!!! Lol! Unfortunately the salmon was dry and bland. Our mimosas were served in a clear coffee mug like cup. They don't offer pineapple juice as an option for mimosas which was unfortunate for me, as I prefer pineapple juice. Mohammad was a great waiter! I'm praying to the restaurant Gods for a much bigger space for this restaurant!!! This location is TOO SMALL!!!! read more

Found this restaurant on TIK TOK and wanted to give it a try. I arrived at 207p and ordered to go since the wait time was going to be long. Waited a hour plus for cold food. I ordered the fried catfish w/grilled shrimp, scrambled eggs (with gouda cheese $1.00), biscuit and side of curry sauce. Total 62.50. They forgot to put my biscuit and shrimp in the containers so I had to go back. Looks good. Since I believe in second chances, I would have to try back when it's not so busy.
