For clarity this is for JW China Wok. First impression was for a strip mall setting, inside was a restaurant feel, with nice booths, simple not overdone on par decor. Ample selection of tables and booths for a smaller space. Our waitress and maybe owner was very informative as to the dishes. I got the feeling, but did not clarify that they were open to modifications although I did not verify this as fact. The kitchen was busy but not loud, with a tremendous amount of takeout. The food did take awhile maybe 20 mins, which was explained in the final product. This is not premade in anyway I could tell. This is old school from scratch dishes. Well worth the wait. The flavors were perfectly balanced where maybe you wanted more flavor, but didnt really need it. Some stated, lack of flavor, Im thinking if you are comparing a fresh dish to a steamer mass produced, over salted, preservative type dish, maybe so. This is not from a package or can, or precooked and shipped in. This is real food.in my opinion. The fact that my picky mods were easily agreed to explains this. The portions were easily shared even for bigger eaters. When trying new food we always go with the dishes we know. I am curious for our next visit if the items such as egg rolls, wonton, dumpling are made in house. I have not had real Chinese food that I grew up with since the 60s and 70s in Redlands since Tangs closed? So nice to see and taste a true egg foo yung, and chop suey on a menu. Food is cooked to order, and their current lunch specials that run Mon-Sun, 11am-3pm is a very good deal - especially in this day and age. Was able to get a generous portion of their chicken & string beans lunch special. It came with an order of rice (fried rice), which was also a generous helping. And also a wonton crisp and vegetable spring roll. I did a take out order so it didn't include the soup (option of egg drop or hot & sour soup for lunch specials are for dine in only, unfortunately). But it was still plenty of food. And it only cost $7.99 for everything! read more

I really enjoyed this place before I went to work and the service was so fast! I got the lunch special orange chicken and the portion was perfect and wow this orange chicken was definitely special! The crunch and the sauce are phenomenal! The lunch special $9.99 and includes a soup! What a great deal especially during these times... def a nice place, parking maybe tricky. I came in for a quick lunch and wow what a great surprise! I had the chicken lo mein. It came with rice, soup and an egg roll. Everything was perfectly seasoned, especially the soup. I am so glad I found this place. The food is great and the prices are so reasonable. This is the only place you can get Jjampong in San Bernardino and it was so good. They even have Kang pong shrimp ( Shrimp with garlic sauce). It wasn't on the menu but they were happy to make it for me. This will be my new favorite Go to place for chinese food. Ps. Had dinner for the 1st time at JW China Wok tonight. I feel like there hasn't been a truly good Chinese restaurant around Redlands/Berdoo since Lotus Garden and Wong's when they were really good. Ambiance: Modern, warm, clean. Love that they serve the food on real plates and in real bowls. Cute Asian patterns. Service: Fantastic! Small staff but very friendly and attentive. Andy was our server and he put up with my inability to make a decision with humor which I love. I'd come back partly because of him alone. Food: Great! The other member of my party and I ordered the family dinner. It was $20 per person and a great value for the amount of food you get and the quality. It comes with wonton soup, appetizers, and choice of I believe 5 or 6 different entrees. Appetizers, fried wonton, fried shrimp, potsticker, veggie egg-roll. All were fresh, hot and you could definitely taste the quality. The thing my fellow diner and I both experienced was that while the egg roll was stuffed with fresh veggies and crisp, it lacked flavor. It was almost bland. I like when things aren't loaded with salt but it definitely needs some kind of seasoning. Maybe garlic and some other spice? I dipped it in the sauce of my sesame beef and was fine but could really use flavor. Same with the Wonton soup. Soup was fresh and generous portion but has almost no flavor. The soup and egg rolls are good but they just need flavor to make them great! Orange Chicken: some of the best I've had. It's clearly made in house, fresh, white meat chicken with flavorful orange sauce. Orange peel in the sauce. Generous portion. Sesame Beef: Tender, sliced beef with flavorful sauce and sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Again, generous portion. Plain fried rice: good. It's basic but I Was happy with it as a side to Orange chicken and sesame beef. They also bring you out complimentary fried won ton strips and hot mustard with another sauce when you arrive. A very simple but much appreciated addition as you view the menu which is extensive. Things that could use improvement: seasoning for veggie egg roll and won ton soup. And coordination of meal items served. We got one order of orange chicken with the appetizers, later came fried rice and soup. Then sesame beef. Usually it would be soup served, appetizers, then entree/rice. But none of these will keep me from coming back. I feel timing is just something they will develop as they haven't been open that long. To sum up my totally long review...Fresh, made in house and to order Chinese food. Great quality and value. Cozy, casual environment and very friendly staff. I hope this business is able to listen to constructive feedback because they really have something here. I'm hoping they'll earn a 5 star review from me in the future. The food was good! My partner and I loved the honey walnut shrimp the best. As for the chicken lo mein it was slightly bland but the more you eat it, it gets more flavorful. As for the orange chicken, it was also very tasty our second favorite item. Egg fu Yun gravy was 'flourery'. The fritters were underseasoned, They tend to over do whatever thickening agent they are using...flour? Cornstarch? Idunno...The rest of the entrees we had seemed over seasoned. Also ordering using their online pick up was confusing. I ended up ordering as a uber eats when I meant to pick up. This Chinese food restaurant is sooooooo good! The prices were really good and the food came out so hot and tasted freshly made. I am so glad to have discovered this little gem. The beef hot pot was my favorite and my kids favorite was the won ton soup. Oh the beef and green beans were excellent and so was the fried rice and the beef and broccoli. Oh oh oh the orange chicken came out crispy with a delicious sauce over it. I'm just so happy that my family and my (4 young kids) ate all of their food! I cannot wait to return.
