The bread at this place is wonderful. I get the seeded sourdough and have it sliced. Since it's only me, I very carefully freeze most of it and take out a piece a day and honestly it's almost as good as when it was brand new. They also have a reason brioche that is also so wonderful that I try not to buy it! read more

Found these master bread makers at the Pacific Palisades farmer's market on Sunday and LOVED the large sour dough loaf. A nice "chew" to it and unlike many breads, you can really tell it's sour dough. One star deducted for not allowing us to choose our own amount of bagels (at least this is the case at the Farmer's Market). You can't mix and match and have to buy them in bags of three. Huh? That's a first and I've been buying bagels since McGovern ran for president. Hope they fix that little glitch as the plain ones we had were very good even at 3 bucks a pop. Oh, at 9:00am they were already out of the sesame bagels -- make some more next time please! read more

I was looking forward to trying this fresh baked bread even though it was very pricey i though it would be worth it . Wrong I tried the city sourdough loaf it was a mushy mess looked like Swiss cheese giant holes in every slice impossible to make a sandwich or even try to just put butter on it it was basically just crust with a little mushy mess dough with holes . Not sure why all these other good reviews I guess most people are easily amused or sheep followers . Too bad read more

This really pains me to write this review, which is 100% due to a lack of transparency and customer service. We live a few blocks from the shop, and with a visit from a dear friend we decided to support Jyan and went to the shop and specifically purchased two whole grain breads - the marbled rye and an Emer pan loaf with seeds, and confirmed with staff that the breads were vegan and whole grain, and no oils or fats (dietary restrictions). Got home and at lunch time we sliced the breads...and noticed that both paper bags had "grease" saturation, especially the Emer. When slicing the seeded loaf, it was greasy on all sides and the bottom. We returned to the store after 2pm today and explained the situation, and the male staff member said "all of our bread has oil and butter", and I responded that their list of ingredients does not state that. He then responded that the pans used to bake the bread are greased, and again I stated this was not in the list of ingredients nor in a note about the baking process. He offered for me to come back tomorrow for another loaf (sold out today), and confirmed that it would be identical to this greasy loaf. He did not offer a refund or other options. We also purchased three pastries and a coffee. We truly want to support our local businesses, but I felt dismissed and the staff baffled at my comments. read more

I had read an article about this place and the young owners story, so of course I had to test the hype...especially when it just happened to be open when we were picking up our Grand Niece from School across the street on a Friday afternoon...the space is small but efficient, the staff is kind and helpful, and last but not least...the bread is hands down the best we have ever had!!! We tried the bagels and the seaded Sourdough...even enjoyed chunks of the sourdough with creamy slices of Gouda Cheese on a road trip to Vegas the next day, and the bread maintained it's integrity perfectly! We will most definitely be enjoying this bread any chance we get and recommend it to everyone we know that enjoys bread...even those that may have a gluten sensitivity like I do! read more

I Wish it was closer so I can return the bread back or get my money back . When I got home me an my husband were excited we order 1 baguette an one seeded sourdough. The baguette was to burn n very hard to bite because it was to burn . Is not , at all bronze or golden brown he has no options for that only dark an burn !.. they taste like burn already , maybe some people might enjoy that . Well we didn't came far to eat burn bread . An the sourdough same to dark same taste an very very hard to cut some slices . They told us the cutting machine wasn't working so they couldn't cut it for us . It made big mess n worst was to hard to cut it , an it taste like burn . I personally feel his getting false credit only because of his age . On our neighborhood walk, we just happened to spot this new bakery that opened up in the space that Slice Pizza was in before they closed during the beginning of quarantine. There was no sign but I could see there was a lot of bread in the window. Currently they have city sourdough (regular sourdough), seeded sourdough, whole wheat sourdough, baguette, and marbled rye. We picked the city sourdough and we were pleasantly surprised with how soft the bread loaf was as it was baked that morning. We enjoyed the extremely hydrated dough and the tartness from the long fermentation process. Read up on Jyan Isaac and he's only 19 y.o.!! Learned everything through a Tartine cookbook and working 2 years at Gjusta. I'm impressed and will continue to support his work! read more

Best bagel in LA yes I said it! Don't believe the social media hype of other nearby bagel shops this place is THE best!! I always get the heirloom and it never disappoints. Meh, chocolate babka and bagels were suspiciously stale. Day old? Bagels very chewy but a good bagel should bite back and not be a puffy steamed bun. A+ for social media and origin story not so sure about the baked goods. Tired of people bitching about stuff being "burnt" some baked goods and pizza should have some char. Should try it again, it's my old neighborhood and rapidly gentrifying. Parking is wretched but not as bad as Gjusta, but at least at Gjusta the product is top notch. You know how good, wholesome, rustic sourdough bread often has a crust like rock? Not at Jyan Isaac Bread. My poor old teeth can't take that kind of abuse anymore after an overlong stint in adult braces, so I was delighted to be introduced to this place by a friend. This is my new favorite bakery. I'm on a mission to try every loaf. So far, the marbled rye and the sourdough have both impressed me. The bread is soft and tender with a crisp (but not too crisp!) crust. I also love that you can get them sliced right at the window at no extra charge and no delay, because my preference is to freeze most of the loaf when I get home. I used to have to saw away at the (rock hard) crust of my sourdough loaves from other bakeries and clean up a mess of crumbs, just to end up with thick and thin slices, but no more. Each slice toasts up beautifully from frozen and tastes as good as when it was fresh. The open faced salmon bagel was fantastic too. If I had to choose, I'd still pick Courage Bagels as my favorite bagel in LA but this is a very, very close second and much less hassle/hype (at the moment at least). The fact that I can also pick up a stunning sourdough loaf makes this an obvious choice. read more

Hands down the best bagel I've ever had in LA. Great quality ingredients and it tastes very fresh. Also, the cold brew is amazing too (very dense and properly made). We had ordered the everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese and the tomato full on everything. No complaints. My only wish is if they started incorporating egg based bagel sandwiches, but sometimes less is more. Will definitely be ordering from here regularly. Love this place! read more

Jyan Isaac Bread uses quality ingredients. I enjoyed three large assorted purchases. However, I agree with several reviews that all the bread loaves tend to be hard and burned all around the crust, making them very hard to cut. Be careful not to crack a tooth with the baguette!! I like to freeze my bread since I cannot eat six loaves by myself in one week. So I asked if Jyan could reduce the baking time a few minutes so the bread could be golden instead of very dark brown. But the answer was no. So I stopped buying because I don't like burned bread in spite of the quality ingredients. read more

Had originally made my way over to the area for bagels from Layla but after hearing they were out, I made my way over next door to Jyan Isaac and was not disappointed. Not only was the presentation of my gravlax the works bagel beautiful, but the sandwich itself was also so tasty. It was perfectly salted with the right amount of toppings - was bummed they were out of everything bagels but the onion bagel worked really well with the flavor profile. My only negative is that this was a bit too pricey in my opinion at 17 dollars. read more

Four experiences that going forward lead me to take my business elsewhere. #1, ordered some bread, bagel and cream cheese, and coffee. Well, coffee was at best room temperature. Things happen. Next trip, ordered bagel and cream cheese and coffee. After twenty minutes of waiting for my bagel and cream cheese, went in to inquire on status. Some type of snafu or mix up apparently. 25 minutes waiting for a bagel and cream cheese! Thing go wrong I get it. Then, straw to brake the back, waiting in line this am and clerk rings up guy in front of me and tells him his order is $41.00. Guy says to clerk that can't be right, at which point clerk does some things and tells guy he was mistaken, it's only $27.00. Wow. So, I step u- and order bagel and cream cheese and some bread-sliced. Well, I get bread that wasn't on the shelf but already in a bag that had either been returned or was from the day before!! These all can't be one-offs. Too bad cause want to enjoy this place so bad. But it ain't for me. Good luck everyone. Lots of options out there. read more

I love this artisinal bread bakery and feel blessed that I live 3 blocks away. ALTHOUGH...as much as I love smelling...holding...and devouring, sometimes it is just too burnt and the baguette hurts my mouth so I can't enjoy that one anymore. Sadly, I don't buy as much as I used to because of the black char factor. I've seen a few complaints about the wait/ line...I get there 1st thing in the morning and zoom...in and out. It is a relaxed vibe, they don't rush you, although I believe the people in the queue would appreciate snappier service. As a bread lover, I started to annoy from Tartine's sourdough which was never fresh (out of the oven) lately. Today I wanted to make a stop for the first time at Jyan's. There were only 2 ppl in line around 9.45. I got City Sourdough and some Sesame Bagels. Have not tasted the Bagels yet but I have a big crush with the Sourdough now. I ate 6 slices until I got back home. The only cons that I asked it to slice and its kinda sticked together because of the moist. So next time I will keep the loaf whole and slice as much as I need.
