I had a lamb kabob sandwich or wrap, which was good. I had a side of fries, which were also good. As a drink I had some kind of Indian tea, which was good as well. The staff were nice and the service was fast and friendly. The only thing I suggest is adding a recycling bin and making the bathrooms look more interesting by adding some nice decor or a wall mural. Other than that, all else was good!

Very carb heavy, but lots of delicious variety of food that is worth it for your money. The staff works hard and are kind and friendly, offering us free samples of this chicken soup which was quite delicious. I've been living in the Ballston area for a while and can't believe it's my first time checking out this restaurant today. My friend and I were pretty satisfied with our orders and we'll be back soon. Listen, open your eyes and look around - there's a lot of fantastic restaurants to check out in the area other than the local fast-casuals and popular restaurant chains that are on Wilson Street. Our only tip? Call ahead so you don't have to wait 15-20 minutes for food at the restaurant. Seems like most people call ahead and grab their orders to-go. A-1 BONELESS CHICKEN BREAST KABOB - 13.85 There's quite a bit of chicken, which were were well-seasoned and delicious. It was a bit dry, but that's OK since it was white meat. Nothing extraordinary about this kabob, but it went well with the rice. This is definitely the "healthy" option. Still delicious, though, and I would recommend it if this is what you're looking for. A-5 BEEF KABOB - 14.99 This was my friend's order and I'm super thankful that he let me try a piece of beef. It was so incredibly tender and flavorful that we were both shocked. His words, "if someone told me this was food from a famous NYC restaurant, I'd believe it." This was the clear winner of the two kabobs we tried today. We would definitely recommend this if you eat red meat. All kabob orders come with a huge piece of bread (that's probably bigger than your face) that was delicious. The salad was a nice side that made me feel "healthier" when eating, lol. The bed of rice below the kabob were seasoned well and could be eaten by itself. Lots of garnish on top of the meat for taste and presentation. For the sides, we both got the chickpeas, which was saucy and delicious.

Food is very good and authentic. The staff are very friendly and made sure my meal came out well. The chicken and lamb were great. Chickpea soup was flavorful

Good food for the price! Not my favorite kabob place, but also not the most expensive kabob place I've gotten. The employees said it would be a 15 minute wait for two orders, but it was done sooner. The portion sizes are pretty good (again, not the biggest) but my family and I were full from our meals.

Moved across the street here recently so decided to try it out! The man behind the counter (we didn't catch his name) was really friendly and funny. The portions are pretty large and the different meats were all moist and seasoned perfectly. For sides we got the fried eggplant (absolutely amazing) and chicken curry (pretty good but probably wouldn't get again). The chicken soup he gave us on the side was amazing, would definitely get a bowl of that if I was sick. Will be back for the lunch specials!!

Came here on a Saturday at noon, and there were only two costumers. More people should definitely be coming here! Got the combo platter (~$14) with lamb and chicken, fried egg plant as a side, and it comes with rice, salad, and bread. It was actually a very good amount, and I split it with my boyfriend. Its pricey, but definitely would be two meals worth for me. If you have a big appetite you could finish it in one. The meat was good. I didnt really love it but it was pretty good with the sauce and everything. The owner/staff were very friendly, and they even offered a sample of their soup!

That is a lot of meat on that salad!

Gyros were good. Lamb souvlaki platter had just 3 small lamp chops and was not a good value. Green yogurt sauce was very good on the side.

Great vegan and vegetarian options. Most of the food is dairy free and doesn't contain eggs. Everything we got tasted great!

Food sucked. The chicken kabob was dry. The eggplant was tasteless and mushy. Will never order from here again.

High Protein, Strategic Eating…read more If you are navigating a serious health journey or, like me, currently in the middle of a "Biggest Loser" contest to start the year, Arlington Kabob is a strategic goldmine. Under normal circumstances, I would happily indulge in their fragrant basmati rice and that delicious, fresh-baked tandoori naan. However, staying disciplined requires a different approach, and the team here makes it effortless. The High-Protein Order Hack: I ordered the Chicken Shawarma platter but requested a total carb-swap. I asked to replace the rice and naan entirely with a double portion of vegetables. I went with the chickpeas (channa) and the sautéed spinach. The result is a nutrient-dense, high-protein win. The chicken is lean and perfectly charred, the chickpeas provide steady energy and fiber, and the spinach adds great flavor and micronutrients. The 50% Strategy: Even without the bread, these portions are significant. I ate exactly 50% of this platter for lunch, which provided an estimated 38g of protein and 450 calories. It is the perfect meal for someone who wants to feel satisfied but stay strictly within their caloric and macro goals. Community Inspiration: I have to give credit to local Northern Virginia foodie Mya Yoon. Her social media posts documenting her own health journey and "smart eating" choices inspired me to start looking at local menus through a more intentional lens. Following the modifications she shares online has been a game-changer for my own progress. Service & Vibe: The staff here deserves a specific mention. Despite my request to skip the core staples of their menu (rice and bread), they were helpful and happy to modify the order to meet my goals. It is rare to find a spot that is both a neighborhood staple for comfort food and a reliable partner in a weight-loss journey. Everything was delicious as always. If you are looking to stay on track without sacrificing quality or flavor, this is the place to do it.

Came for the Sheeryakh, but had such delicious, authentic Afghan food! I'd give 4.5 stars for some…read moreconstructive modifications to make in the future related to service, but overall amazing food! I left with a full belly and a happy heart. Got a combo of chicken kabob and shami kabob along with a side of their borani banjan/eggplant dish. The eggplant was honestly one of my favorite things- it's a must get in my opinion. Homey dish with incredible flavors! Their naan is fresh and pairs well with it. The chicken was good, but I've had better honestly. The shami was a little disappointing as I expected more flavor and it was slightly dry, but good. Their rice was so tasty and I loved the sweetness coming from the carrots an raisins. Of course, the sheeryakh was great- quite a big portion for one person, but I loved the texture. It tastes very similar to the Indian/South Asian/Pakistani ice cream, "Kulfi." CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK: Service needs improvement. The whole time I was there I had to keep looking for waiters to make eye contact with to ask for menu, water, paying, etc. It took about 10 min or more for me to have to call a busy waiter over just to look at the menu- no one came over on their own. Things just took time for a Saturday night- plus they were hosting an event on top of this. Needless to say, I've never had service like this, but the vibe and food made me be not as harsh. Despite the service, this place is a must try for authentic Afghan cuisine. Can't wait to try more of their menu (and the borani banjan again) in the future!

Unfortunately, this restaurant didn't live up to my expectations…read more When we arrived the dining room felt very humid and sticky which made it uncomfortable to sit and eat. We were also a party of five but were only given one menu to share so not very convenient. I ordered the Chicken & Shami Kabob and it came with a choice of white or brown rice, one side, and naan. The meal looked nothing like the photo on the restaurant's website. The portion was overwhelmingly rice with very little meat. None of the garnishes shown in the picture were included on the rice. For $24 I expected a much better presentation and a more balanced portion. Oh and the meat was kind of dry. Parts of our order were missing, some dishes that came out were incorrect. The experience felt disorganized and the food didn't justify the price.
