Came here to pick up to-go for our day trip to Haleakala National Park. Husband went next door to get a burrito. Meanwhile I came here and ordered a delicious vegan sandwich with a side salad. Tasted super fresh and yummy. Only down side is the crazy price. Total was $16.65. Paid for the convenience and the healthy alternative to fast food. While I love a good sandwich, I also feel most, if not all, sandwiches can really be made well at home. But here on vacation, I'm not going out to buy all the separate ingredients to make that kind of sandwich that I'd want. So this was a good option. For us, Cafe at La Plage was super convenient!! Walking distance from our Airbnb and reasonably priced. This ended up being our breakfast spot on multiple days during our trip. Their avocado toast was delicious. I was really excited about the Ange et Demon, which had jalapeno, spinach and artichoke, but it wasn't as good as it sounded. Their more traditional breakfast sandwiches were much better! Coffee was decent as well, but nothing special. read more

I am glad i stopped by next door at my favourite bakery for some bread because I found this little gem, Kalia Cafe. Great coffee, wonderful service, super clean, super cute little cafe with very delicious looking sandwiches (cannot wait to try them). Love this place so much! I come here for studying sessions often. Not so much now that the inside is closed. But it's all good I still come here for the delicious tomato soup, lox bagel, or tuna sandwich. My husband loves the club sandwich. The staff is super nice. The only thing I would say though is that I really love avocado toast. But the avo toast here is pretty acidic. Everything else I've tried though is top notch. A small business doing BIG things! We stayed with a group of 6 in an air bnb and we had breakfast here for several days of our Maui trip. My recommendations are the Sugar Beach or the Kalama on a croissant. As a New Yorker, the bagels are a little outside of my expectations. We were heading toward the Road to Hana and needed a quick breakfast pickup for the way. After reading the other Yelp reviews and seeing that Café at la plage opened at 6:30am (technically 6:34am as the sign on the door states), we decided to stop...and we're glad that we did. We both ordered bagel sandwiches...the bagels were really fresh and the choices of meat and cheese really made them custom. Lots of varieties of coffee to choose from too! Their sign says they open at 6:34 am... and that was pretty accurate! We ordered a couple of bagels and coffees. My everything bagel was everything a bagel ought to be! The cream cheese to bagel ratio was on point. Hubby ordered a coconut bagel- first time trying one and it was pretty yummy! Coffee wasn't too weak but didn't give me the shakes. First time visiting here and the last. I travel for a living and buy what's called a London Fog tea drink on a very regular basis. I buy hundreds a year. For a 20oz London Fog, almond milk, and 12 pumps of sugar free vanilla I paid $8.40 at the MAUI Starbucks airport today. Other major coffee shops (Starbucks, Peet's, Etc) I visit around the country range from approx. $5.00 to $8.00. Not here at the Kalia Cafe. I was charged $12.40 for that SAME drink. Almost 50% more for it. I mentioned it was expensive and could she verify that it wasn't a mistake. She did and said no mistake, that's our price for it. Then she told me that it had already gone onto my card. I told her, fine - they had me this time but never again. The drink was OK, but not as tasty as I normally get from other coffee shops. I think charging a fair price and keeping a customer base is more important than overcharging and having an empty cafe like I saw. The other two employees looked bothered that I stood up and questioned the ridiculously expensive price. Just my opinion. read more

Came here this afternoon and we were really disappointed. It's unfortunate because I had checked this place out last year and we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered a panini and breakfast burrito. For $16.00 my panini had very little turkey, one strip of bacon and some cheese...a ton of red onion (too much) and a pretty good size tomato. My bread was wet and soggy with very little grill or evidence of it being put on the panini press. Cheese was sweaty and wet and the bread was just gross...not toasted at all. No flavor either. For $16.00 I was super disappointed. The $13.00 burrito was really small. I mean like a small taco size flour tortilla. Looked like a child size portion. Once again for the price it was a let down. I'm not sure if this place is under new ownership but it's definitely not the same product as last year. I'll stick to 808 Deli. read more

Good little bagel spot with a big menu and pretty good bagels. I had the sausage egg and cheese on a sesame bagel and it was tasty. They have a special sauce that's basically saracha and mayo and I would recommend getting it. The food also came pretty fast, we got takeout and it was less than 10 mins. Went at 9 am and there was only 1 table open for done in so keep that in mind if you wanna go. This place is going in the rotation for breakfast in Kihei. read more

Ok, this place has a rack of birthday and greeting cards that had me howling in laughter. I came in for an espresso and spent 20 mins laughing at cards. This local hang has greeting cards to bust a gut over , internet access and gridz. I suggest you take a load of your feet and crab a cup of coffee and chill. I've been here in Maui the past week and have been going around breakfast places everyday. Today, my last day here in Maui I decided to go here. If I had gone here the first few days I definitely would have gone back everyday! The iced mocha was sooo thick and creamy I loved it! The best iced mocha I have tried here so far. Now for the croissant, definitely one of a kind! Each bite is so fulfilling and delicious! The cafes special honey has such a unique after taste after every bite. Ange et Demon. That is THE food item to order from here that you could not possibly get anywhere else. It's a breakfast bagel sandwich with artichoke cream cheese, two sausage patties, eggs with spinach and jalapeño, and Monterey Jack cheese. I got this sandwich twice during my 3.5 day visit to Maui and both times, I got it on the Maui sweet onion bagel. So good. I can not recommend this item enough! If Cafe at La Plage were to expand and open a location on Oahu, I would probably frequent that location pretty often! Will definitely return if I'm ever on Maui again. read more

Very cute!! This place was perfect for me and the hubbys last breakfast before heading back to our Island, Oahu. The breakfast Sandwich that I landed on was perfect! It tasted awesome the avacodo egg bagel! My coffee was perfect at 12 and the service the service was great! This place was within walking distance to the beach vacation rental that we stayed at, and it was also technically right across the street from Beach! lots of other shops around in at 7 AM not very many people. I used to live down the street and spent a lot of time here. The previous owners were great and the food was incredible given the price point. Since the new owners have taken over it's lost it's offbeat vibe and the prices shot up. I got a sesame bagel with butter today and was charged $6. That's resort pricing, and it wasn't resort quality, the bagels used to be good. At least the coffee isn't bad and hasn't inflated in price too much. I'm sad to see another local spot transformed into a tourist trap. read more
