I have never tried ramen (besides the Top Ramen noodle packs lol) but I wanted to be adventurous yesterday, so I tried this place. The service was good and food came out pretty quick. I had the pork bone flavored broth ramen and added a boiled egg and corn. It did not disappoint and even my picky toddler ate from the bowl I got. I can't wait until it gets cold, I bet it'll be even better then! The only cons to this place is that they didn't have any sauces readily available on the tables, and i only got one tiny little container of sauce when I asked. This place was baaad. As another reviewer mentioned, we were in at lunch and there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant. Should have left then. First of all, I asked for hot sauce and the server brought an empty bottle of Sriracha sauce. I thought it was a joke. I asked her for another and she said she didn't think they had anymore. I laughed at this point. She checked and brought another bottle out, almost empty and said it was all she could find. They forgot to put the boiled egg in my daughter's ramen and when I asked about it, she brought me a cold, chewed up looking egg, only sliced it half and they didn't give me a knife to finish cutting it. I had gone for an early anniversary lunch. I got the fried udon and my husband got the eel bento box and a California roll. My udon was OK, tasted good but not much for the price we paid. The eel bento box was garbage. The only decent thing was the eel. The rest was like dry microwave food. The portions were painfully small and there were 3 crusty, dry, microwaved gyoza. The California roll was even better. It should be called the oildale roll. It was literally a 2 inch long, plain rice roll with a thin strip of imitation crab. Not even exaggerating. Wish I was joking about all this. I don't like to be the one to leave a bad review and normally I just let it go and take the loss, but this had to have been one of the worst places we had gone. We spent around $50 for dollar store microwave food on the week of our anniversary. I emailed Kamisama ramen about this. Whoever I spoke to apologized and offered a free appetizer. Not really worth the 1 hr drive, so I printed the email and the next day I was in town, I tried using it, and the worker said she couldn't honor it. This was a different worker than the last time, the previous worker had pointed out how sticky the tables were and didn't talk or help out much. Probably having a bad day so I don't blame her. They have a television playing the food network which creates a juxtaposition when waiting for ramen noodles while watching comfort foods being prepared. The miso soup was hearty. Good flavor, not too salty with a little kick. The vegetable Raman is packed with fresh vegetables. The vegetables have the right amount of crunch not over cooked, not under cooked. The noodles are slightly over cooked. I had garlic and spinach added. At first it was a bit bland so I asked the waiter, Tanner what he likes in his Ramon. This place is a real laid back place. No need to dress up at all. During the week you can easily be sat and attended to. Their menu offers a variety of pho and options for add ons. They also have recommendations which include typical items most people add into their pho. I ordered the spicy udon noodles. And honestly, I've been craving them ever since! They were so full of flavor. Spicy but not overpowering. Plenty of chicken within the noodles. The udon noodles themselves were cooked so perfectly. I loved their thickness. I swear my mouth waters as I'm writing all this. The only downside, and they even recognize it is that their sushi does take a good while to come out from the kitchen. About 25 minutes or more to be exact. It's completely worth it. Super delicious, although I wish they didn't slice the rolls so thinly (I'm sure you can request it). Okay, gotta admit, not too shabby for Bakersfield. Back home in LA there are plenty of good ramen to choose from but this is the only choice up here. I got the tonkotsu ramen and didn't add all the extras because then my ramen would then cost $20. No thank you. I tried the broth and it was pretty good and flavorful. However, it tasted so strongly of MSG. And afterwards, my mouth was so dry and had a lingering headache (both side effects of MSG). If you put this inside the soup, maybe there should be an option with NO MSG. But then the broth will probably be tasteless- so I mean I get it, gotta keep the doors open. I LOVE LOVE LOVE ramen, every time it's cold and weather is all on a rocking horse, and every time I'm sick Ramen has always revived me. I was sick at home and super excited to try this restaurant because it was close to my home. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, I added garlic and extra spice, as well as their Gyoza. The qyoza was steamed and too mushy for my liking. I gave it a try still hoping it would surprise me and it did nothing but disappoint. There was absolutely no flavor. Then don't get me started on the ramen I was looking forward to... I powered down up to 5 bites and it was so salty that it hurt my stomach. I ended up sicker than I began with... never will I ever try this again. I hope I just caught them on a bad day. Good luck to everyone else. Make sure you have a gallon of water next to you whenever you give this a try, just in case! read more

As of 10/10/2015, most people would not know that Kamisama Ramen is open for business because there is no signage hanging outside the building. It looks like they are closed for business, but I am certain that business will pick up once the sign with their name goes up. I know that there have been other reviews written about Kamisama. Unfortunately, they have been posted to the restaurant (BGF Asian Diner) which used to be located at this address. Kamisama Ramen (in my opinion) is a whole lot better. Wife and I have already been here twice since they opened this month. First time here, we shared two entrees. The Chicken Katsudon was my choice. The deep fried chicken tasted flavorful and delicious. It went well with the fried egg, white rice, and katsu sauce! Just wish there was more chicken that came with this entree! Wifey ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen during each trip here. She added a boiled egg (which costed an extra $1.50) as a topping each time. Wow, we both really enjoy this entree! The broth was rich in flavor. The pork, noodles, boiled egg, and other ingredients made the broth taste even better. We liked this Ramen order more than any Ramen restaurant that we've visited in the Bay area and Los Angeles area. Second time here, we brought the family. Everyone liked the food as well. My Father n'law thoroughly enjoyed his Chicken Teriyaki! He said the chicken was juicy, tender, and flavorful! I look forward to the time when they have desserts because a meal is not complete without dessert!! They have them listed on their menu, but as the time of my writing are not available yet. My eating-out-of-the-packet-ramen days are over now that there's a ramen joint in town! Okay, that's not completely true. Instant ramen is my weakness, but this place definitely makes it better than I do. I believe there are a total of five choices you can choose from. I've tried both the Shoyu and Miso and liked them both equally. The noodles are bouncy, the broth is flavorful, and it's been consistently good. I always add the braised pork because the texture and taste are just so much better than the regular pork. Although they are a bit frugal with their add-ons. Service can be slow. Very slow. The place is fairly new and I'm sure they'll hire more staff eventually. I'm just ecstatic there's finally a ramen place in town. read more

Preface: I have been to some of the top Ramen places in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and all over the US so this review will be in comparison to this context but I am grateful for a new Ramen place here in Bakersfield. We walked in and the place was about a third full. The tables were full but they had no one at their bar so we decided to eat at the bar style seating. The server we had was very passive and did not explain the menu very well but since I've been to these types of places, I knew how it worked. Their ramen includes a few pieces of chashu along with some other little items. Like all the other ramen places, you add other items for an additional cost.'I ordered the donkatsu broth with soft boiled egg and spinach. I originally wanted the vegetable broth with the ramen but I was told that they are prepackaged and they could not do vegetable broth and add what I wanted. As soon as I dove into the broth, I could taste the MSG right away. I asked if all their broths have MSG and the waiter reluctantly answered "yes." This is typical but other places I've been to also have an option with no MSG. The flavored were decent but the MSG aftertaste overpowered everything. The noodles were over cooked in my opinion. All the top Ramen places cook their noodles al dente but, they also make their own noodles fresh daily. The noodles at this place are again prepackaged. Here is my overall summary: The good: 1. Place was clean 2. Service was decent 3. The flavor overall was decent for prepackaged stuff 4. Bakersfield now has a Ramen place: hopefully others will pop up to create some competition to boost the quality. The bad: 1. MSG 2. The noodles are not made fresh as quality ramen places typically do 3. Prepackaged stuff Give it a shot and see how you like it... At the end of September I was roaming around yelp pages near where I live and found this place. I was excited for a legit ramen place but sadly they weren't open yet. I finally got a chance yesterday to go with my siblings. Let me say though, they don't have signage up yet with the exception of a small banner on the side of the building. Owner said that the sign should be up this weekend. We ordered two appetizers to start off with. My brother ordered the calamari rings and sister ordered the gyoza (potstickers). The calamari were nicely breaded and tasted great with the sriracha mayo provided. The squid was not overcooked at all, which happens a lot at other restaurants. The gyoza had a delicious filling and the cook was perfect. Since they are fried and steamed, the wrapper can be tough but not here. For our entrees, we each got individual ramen. My brother and sister both got the Tonkatsu (pork bone base) Ramen and I got the Shoyu (soy sauce base) Ramen. My brother and I both added a boiled egg and nori (seaweed) to ours. The broth on mine was very flavorful and was a tad bit salty, as expected since it has a soy sauce base. I added sriracha to add some spice and it did the job to even out the broth. The combination of all the ingredients made the overall flavor of the dish extremely enjoyable. My brother and sister seemed to enjoy their Tonkatsu Ramen as well. Since their base is pork bone it had a much different taste and color of the broth (mine was much darker as theirs was lighter). The staff were friendly and helpful in explaining dishes we were unfamiliar with. Behold Everyone! The greatest ramen shop in this beautiful city of Bakersfield. I came in hearing the nice reviews and the high expectations. I did not leave disappointed. Both my companion and I had different ramen dishes, a soy sauce ramen and a vegetarian option. I am happy to say that both ramen bowls were full of flavor and up to my expecting standards! I am so relieved! The additions to the ramen bowls range from boiled egg to shrimp tempura. But with your basic bowl you get plenty of veggies, so many additions are not needed. I tried the medium sized bowl of edamame as an appetizer and I found it splendid. My companion (grandma) was enamored by this new, unheard of vegetable. Top quality! I was hesitant about expecting much from the service due to some of the previous reviews. I am happy to say that they have either resolved these issues, or that other Yelper patrons were merely received by Kamisama Ramen on a bad day. I'm probably not the best person to review a ramen restaurant because of my distorted baseline of what good ramen is. I grew up eating ramen, but only in the home. For me, ramen was a weekend dish made by mom or grandma. It consisted of a broth, whatever veggies we had on hand, and pieces of cha siu (BBQ pork) or sausage. I didn't have ramen in a restaurant until I was an adult. The dining area is small, with a few tables. There's a bar area, but it had very little counter space. It was also hot and stuffy on the day that I visited so please, turn up the AC. Bf had the tonkatsu ramen with an egg. The broth was amazing, with earthy and meaty notes. It was on the salty side, even for my salty taste. The ramen cooked just right, not mushy but not chewy, either. I went for the unadon, a bbq eel over rice dish, instead of ramen. They nailed it when it came to the preparation of the eel filet. Eel is tough to cook just right because it's a very tender meat, but they did it. The dish was served with a veggie mix of cabbage, broccoli, and carrots. I haven't had good eel in a while and that lunch hit the spot. The visit was a good one and we had a decent lunch but a couple of stars are missing for a couple of reasons. First off, the greeting was great and there was lots of seating for us at 1130am. We eyed the menu and of course we went straight to the lunch specials like most people do. It was then that we were informed that the specials - that being the Bento boxes could not be made as they were out of too many things. Also, the sushi rolls could not be made either, they did not have whom they needed for that. That left appetizers, pan fried noodles and Ramen. Phew, they still had their staple! But still what the? I asked for lemon for my water and they did not have that either. Good, friendly service otherwise throughout and decent food for what we were able to order gives 3 stars. I can recommend the miso Ramen. (my friend gave 4.5 for that, she stated that the broth needed more flavor, but noodle consistency was excellent) I can also recommend the beef pan fried noodle. It is a spicier dish with thinner Ramen as the base. It has a good sauce to it that does not overpower the veg (onion, carrot, cabbage) in the dish. Egg rolls were decent. Crunchy. Just over $10 a person for lunch, not bad. I wish they had a different special to substitute the Bento boxes but, no. The place is still new, the kinks should be worked out eventually and hopefully they will be able to offer all of their menu items. Update - returned to try the Ramen and liked it! I had asked to be surprised by whomever back there cooking and the pork bowl had been chosen for me. I never would have chosen it for myself but it was good! I had a lot of broth left so I asked for extra noodles to go ($1.50), garlic (free) and had a full meal for later! I also had sweet service from start to finish. Great ramen spot for a cold fall night, when we areived not to many people eating in, mostly take out. Broth was good and it was more of a build your own ramen instead of ramen dishes, basically a panera of ramen. Still great broth and reasonable prices for the amount of noodles meat you get. Meat selections were smaller but tasty. My fav part was that you can order more noodles to be added to your left over broth. This place is pretty good. I was disappointed though because their sushi was not being sold. The decor is Japanese-ish and extremely cramped. The old host...I know him Asia Market really needs to work on his customer service. I noticed twice that other diners had to get their own condiment box and had to refill their own drinks. I also noticed that other customers were given the wrong bowls of ramen. Our group ordered ramen, yakiudon, and fried pork rice bowl. The food was very good. The pork ramen broth was from flavor town...delicious! The yakiudon was spicy, and my rice bowl was good...I did have to ask for the katsu sauce because they forgot to put on the pork cutlet. The restaurant is pretty small with the lay out and can feel a little claustrophobic if there are 3 or more couples there.We ordered 2 Tonkatsu ramen and shrimp tempura. The shrimp was soggy and overwhelmed with breading. The ramen was sub par, good enough to get your ramen fix, but doesn't seem worth the other negatives to make up for it. It lacks flavor and seems to leave a poor after taste. We were never able to ask for sirracha or offered refills since the staff was I'm guessing overwhelmed? I like pictures of people dressed up as anime characters at nerd conventions. I adore Pokemon and pho and sushi and Indonesian folklore. So, by default, I loved my bowl of ramen. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen (the "tonkotsu" refers to the kind of broth, in this case, a pork bone broth, which, my wife tells me, is good for me because of the gelatin content) with the Kamisama topping (includes spinach, butter, nori [seaweed], and braised pork). I kind of overdid it with the chili powder that I was warned against, but no fear, this bowl was flavor times infinity. The pork, while some would complain was fatty, was SUPER flavorful, and, knowing a bit about food, I know that much of the flavor is in the fat and the bone. Wouldn't trade it. The noodles seemed to be pretty fresh. The broth was rich. Thick. Passionate. Whoops, that was an excerpt from my latest romance novel, "Nate Visits Kamisama Ramen". I can't say much more. I feel bad giving them three stars due to the really long wait time of food prep. To make sushi is not a forty-five minute task unless your shop is busy, not the case here. Five orders can be done in a few minutes, it's a art form yet certain rolls can be done quickly without taking one hour when nobody else has a order. Ok, before I arrived I read Yelp so I knew they were slow. Thanks to Yelp we were prepared to wait but not this long. The soup arrived and never should be handed to customers over the halfwall. This creates a potential for getting burned or spilled on.. The pork ramen tasted good, sushi was tiny for the price. I have no complaints with pork ramen other than waiting a hour to get all our food. There was nobody else there so why the wait? Arrived here on a Monday night with a few friends at 6p. It is a small place and more customers trickled in after 6:30p. We were looking forward to the soups. 2 of us had the ramen miso soup and add the 2 shrimp tempura. 1 said they didn't care for shrimp tempura and would get more bean sprouts/no bamboo shoots. Another said they'd ask for shrimp tempura on the side not on top of the soup, to prevent sogginess. Also, one person liked the pork and another did not. "R" ordered ramen in a soy sauce base. She enjoyed it and added some hot sauce. She says she'd ask for more green onion next time. I got the vegetable and tofu ramen and added a boiled egg, extra spinach, and paid more for the chicken katsu. Everyone at the table liked the taste of this broth the best and would want to order this. It had lots of vegetables which I enjoyed. I didn't like the tofu, very soft, prefer firm tofu. The portion was huge! Only problem was the chicken. It was way undercooked. It was sent back so I only ate half my soup since they were all done before I got my bowl. The new chicken was cooked very well. Incident grossed me out, so took my soup home. We ordered hot green tea. They don't leave a pot for you so come around with hot water to pour over the tea bag :( read more

We had a great time for lunch today! I took my new kids and try loved it :) I had the veggie & tofu but tried the 2 other kinds and liked them all. They also have your old faves like egg rolls and dumplings. Other people ordered them and I saw lots of smiles. Yum yum I can't wait to come back read more
