Conveniently located across the street from the Americana and Glendale Galleria. It was my first time trying Armenian food and it did not disappoint! The chicken lula plate was amazing and I liked the caprese salad as well. The Armenian cheese plate was interesting too- the block of feta cheese was a lot but it wasn't as heavy as other feta cheese I've had and the pairing with the herbs and bread was great. It almost felt Vietnamese. Loved the watermelon-cucumber lemonade too. Service was great and the restaurant was beautiful and comfortable. No wait on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. Knocked off a star because they were out of so many items we wanted- no Khurjin or Armenian combo. Was a bit pricey too. Free parking in the Glendale Galleria.

Food is delicious!! I love armenian cuisine this restaurant has several great options! Service is great!! My server Samuel was very kind and attentive to me and all his tables. Very nice ambiance inside they have the tables set very nicely, staff is dressed clean and polished. Will be back! The watermelon cucumber lemonade is refreshing and a must try!

Right across from the Americana, so you've probably walked past this spot at least once. I've actually been here before during the day with my kids, but the evening vibe feels a bit different. The live violin music that night added a really nice touch. At first I didn't even realize it was traditional Armenian cuisine because the flavors felt somewhat similar to Mediterranean food. Once I realized, it made the experience feel a little more unique. The food was great for sharing, so coming with a group and ordering family-style worked really well. They also have fun cocktails, Armenian tea, and desserts neatly displayed in clean containers, which I thought was a nice detail. Overall, it was a fun experience and a great spot to visit when you're around the Americana.

I am the biggest fan of Caucasian food. Glad to see that Karas offered Khachapuri and other Georgian/Armenian options in Glendale. I ordered to go as I had to make a flight, but I thought my to go experience was nice. The server accurately predicted how long my food was going to be prepared. I also appreciated the interior of the place - I wish I could dine in. In terms of the food, I enjoyed it despite the drive back home. The Khachapuri had a nice balance in taste. The grape leaves weren't too soggy. The chicken was cooked well. The only reason why I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because I think the prices were higher than what I expected. I recommend folks to come by and try what Karas has to offer!

Karas is located right across the Americana and after many years of always walking by I finally got to try it. I've always had Armenian food like kabobs and dolma but I'm glad this place offers more than just that. Our server also made our dining experience here very enjoyable. Great vibes here and there is both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a solid list of cocktails and wines. We got a beef in lavash and as well as the chicken BBQ plate. I've never had beef in lavash before and the flavor is delicious. It's like braised meat and it comes with cheese and other seasonings so you can make like a wrap. The chicken BBQ plate was incredibly juicy and tender served with rice, a side salad and a pepper with onions. Everything was fresh and tasted very healthy.

Have been here multiple times, food is good, but there definitely room for improvement. This place has a history of having bad, rotten potato's. And this is not the first time I've experienced it over the years. So it's definitely not one time thing. French fries are heated from the day before. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the plate, but there was only two small pieces of Lulah in each plates, and was plenty of potatoes that were gone bad. Since in many years they have not cared enough to change supplier it's clear for me that it will be the last time we order food from here

Looking for delicious food, friendly service, easy parking at a place that's not terribly crowded? This is the spot. **Its bomb - request Michael!** I work down the street & used to live in Glendale for years - so please believe me when I say this is a true Glendale gem. The food is literally the perfect portion sizes, but since I'm gluttonous & a major foodie this is what a dinner for 2 looks like for me lol. It's great after work, or with friends, just a lovely dinner spot. I can always find a table & they are super prompt! But honestly? I come for the service. Michael is by far the best waiter I've ever had. You'll see I have quite a few reviews to date and I'm not playing when I say he hit #1. A true gentleman & extremely detail oriented. Made us feel like family and made tonight the MOST special of all the times I've been here. Everyone is extremely respectful, kind, and attentive - but Michael? That guy hits it out of the park! Wish he was our server at all restaurants tbh but every single marker. Thank you Karas for an amazing dinner, and thank you Michael for the experience!

We were walking through Glendale a few weeks ago when we passed by Karas, and right away the smell stopped us in our tracks. My wife and I looked at each other and basically decided then and there: next time we're in the area, we're eating here. Fast forward to that "next time," and right as we're walking up, we see a DJ set up outside. Totally unexpected. Turns out it was the first time they were trying something like that, and even the servers asked what we thought about it. We sat inside, so it wasn't loud or anything, but from what we saw, it added a fun, laid-back energy to the place. We went with the Family Combo #1, which honestly should be called a feast. It came with pork ribs, lamb chops, beef and chicken BBQ, beef and chicken lula kabob, fire-roasted peppers, fire-roasted potatoes, rice, hummus, ajika, and a side salad. And they don't stop there; they bring out a side of bread too. I added tzatziki because... well, why not? Everything was just solid. Tons of flavor, perfectly cooked, and there was so much food we ended up with leftovers for the next couple of days. They don't technically have a kids' menu, but they do offer pizza, so we got a cheese pizza for our daughter, and she loved it. There's also a bar if you're just looking to grab a drink, and they've got a good amount of outdoor seating too. Overall, we had a great time and already made plans to come back soon with more of our family.

Great atmosphere and excellent pizza. Sitting outside and enjoying the lively street scene made the experience even more enjoyable. The location is ideal--right across from the Americana; where it's always pleasant to see people shopping, smiling, and full of energy. Our experience started a bit slowly as they were busy and it took some time to eat, but the staff later made a genuine effort to make it right and took good care of us. Michael, our server, was especially thoughtful and treated us to a complimentary fruit plate to make up for the early delay, which was a very kind gesture. We randomly walked in this place and we had the best dinner around Americana at brands. honestly, 10 out of 10 We miss the Euro-Asian food that we used to have in Russia. They have pelmeni, khachapuri, galuptsi, fce chto nado! We love the service! and the food came out so hot and fresh and almost no wait We love the vibe and the call decorations There was life music not too loud Very family friendly , servers are nice and welcoming! I've eaten here a few times. The food is ok and the ambiance and service are a little less than warm. Beware: outside they are not enforcing the no smoking rule. It's not just vaping, these are heavy cigarettes. Give it a try, inside...but I'd take it to go, personally. With so many Armenian food places to choose from in Glendale, I wouldn't put it at the top of my list. read more

Went for a late lunch so it was not busy. The restaurant is pretty big and has a nice sized patio. Our server was sweet. She offered still or sparkling water and when we said still, she named different bottled brands. It seemed odd we couldn't just get tap water. Food below. 3 dips- roasted tomatoes, taziki and hummus. The hummus was a bit runny. The roasted tomatoes were good but slightly bitter. Taziki was my favorite. Chicken ciabatta - my husband liked it. It was a pretty big sandwich and they gave him tons of fries. Beef Lula platter- the meat (ground meat) was super tasty. I died my taziki on it. The cabbage mixture was nice and mild too. Rice was OK. A little slip in my opinion is that my husband's sandwich came out way before mine. He was almost done by the time my food came out. I would come back to try the BBQ . read more

My husband and I came here without a reservation on a Saturday night in early July. We arrived around 5:30 pm and were seated immediately after arriving. I'd been looking at Yelp as I wanted Georgian food, but Armenian was the closest I could find in LA. I saw that Kara's Dine-in had khachapuri, a dish that I love, so that's why we ended up here. There were several tables full of people already eating despite the early time. Our server brought us menus straight away but took a long time after that to return and bring us water. She was polite but not the most efficient or friendly. We decided to get the grilled vegetable dip to share between us. For mains, my husband had the pelmeni and I ordered the adjarian khachapuri. The adjarian khachapuri here was a slightly different texture to the khachapuri I've had before in Georgian restaurants. This one wasn't bad but I preferred the khachapuri I've had at other Georgian restaurants. The pelmeni were good and very moreish. The ambiance here is casual, and despite being a full-service restaurant, feels like a fast casual place. Service is brisk and not super friendly. They took a very long time to bring us water, and the wait staff seemed harried. We may come back here if we're in the mood for Armenian cuisine. read more

Came here on a Friday evening and was served by a wonderful staff member! We ordered 4 dishes, which includes the plov beef, lamb chops, zharkoe with pork, and khurjin with beef. I tend to be cautious when I dine out because of the salt content but everything was nicely seasoned, not overly salty at all... just perfect in taste. We also arrived during happy hour so I got the Spicy Aztec cocktail and they do not skim out on the liquor ; ) My family and I truly enjoyed our dinner here as the ambience and service was great! We were walking around Americana and saw this place across the street! They seating inside and out and it's really nice! I got their cheese pizza and wife got there chicken! They give you a lot of food and there plates are huge! Pizza was not that great! No flavor! The chicken was awesome and want to try other dishes! Not good a service charge beware! Located near the Americana, Kara's offers both indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated right away despite it being a busy Friday evening. Parking is metered on the street. For the meal, we shared the chicken breast and pork ribs BBQ with rice and salad. Both meats were incredibly tender -- definitely something I would order again. We also tried the grape leaf dolma, but I wasn't as impressed. The dish came drenched in a bit too much yogurt sauce and sour cream. I would have preferred the sauces on the side. Also, the portion size felt a bit small for the price. A couple of nice touches was the basket of complimentary bread and live Jazz music. In comparison to Kara's in Yerevan, this location is definitely more upscale. I'd be happy to bring friends and family here again. read more

I always passed by this place since it's right across the Americana but never thought of going in bc the signage didn't really appeal to me. Then my roommate suggested it for dinner, and I am so glad she did. Everything we got on the menu that evening was great. The bread with cheesy egg, the beef kebab, and the vegetable dip were all solid 10s. I loved how fresh the tomato and red onion side salads were. Apparently, the style of this cuisine is more Eastern and I enjoyed it thoroughly! Especially in Glendale where it's kebabland, Karas stands out and I would definitely come back here. The service was a bit slower, but he was very informative and tended to everyone in the restaurant in a timely and efficient manner. He was the only server I saw that evening. All in all, great experience and would come back! read more

When I come here I always order the burger. It's so tasty that also comes with a bed of fries. I love this drink, it's amazing! (Lemonade Kazbegi Pear). They have two but not a fan of the other one. There's inside and outside patio seating with misters for the heat. The place is relaxed, nice for dinners and family setting as well. The staff is kind and very attentive. Keep in mind at times they do charge for the bread and butter, don't really agree with that but ya. read more

The inside of the crust contains sweet potato mousse, which adds a slight sweetness to the palate. The combination works well. 2. The bulk sauce is a Korean sweet and spicy sauce that kind of resembles BBQ sauce. We felt that the sweetness of the sauce overpowered everything, including the spicy part. Bulgogi Taco Pizza (5/5) What is there not to like about bulgogi and taco, let alone, in pizza form? The toppings are Korean marinated BBQ beef, chopped red onions, cilantro, and hot taco sauce. It was pleasantly savory and packed with flavor that's truly reminiscent of street tacos. 4. Potato Gold Pizza (5/5) If you are hungry and looking for a carb-heavy, yet satisfying bite, this is the pizza to get. It has tomato sauce base, topped with cheddar cheese, ground beef, strips of bacon, corn, onion, mushroom, sour cream and a slice of potato wedge on each slice of pizza. Thanks Eddie for your service and help. During my order, I found out that their pizzas have a base cost which was about $19+. Depending on what flavors you want, they will charge $6.00 for each flavor you build your own. I wanted half Hawaiian and half Vegetarian. Custom Medium would have cost me $31+ rather than $23+ for Medium Hawaiian Style only. I ended up with the latter and also got a regular Vodka Sauce Pasta. Total bill came to $38 including tax + tip. I enjoyed the pizza very much. Crust was thin. Sauce was tasty. Plenty of ingredients on pizza. Square cuts versus slice cuts. As for the Vodka Sauce Pasta, it didn't taste the same as before. This time it tasted bland as if it had plain marinara sauce only. Slightly disppointed about that, hence, 4 stars! My friends and I came here on a later Friday evening and there was no wait to walk up to the counter and order. Lots of historic pictures of celebrities who have dined there. Fun fact, NONE of the framed pictures and artwork (especially the largest one) are centered. If you're not too sure what to order, they have a lot of their pizza behind the glass for you to get an idea of what you're going to be feasting on. Most items come out quickly and decently hot, but for freshly made/assembled items like the garlic bread I ordered, it may take 10-15 minutes, but it comes out super hot and it's super worth it. Water is self serve and they also have condiments like Parmesan cheese, crushed red peppers, garlic powder, and other various spices. For my order, we got the: 1) Spicy Spring: -Rectangular cut pizza with Diavolo (one of the funniest Jojo villains to be honest) sauce, small cup pepperonis, fresh mozzarella, and Pecorino Romano. -I love pepperonis and they did not skimp out on how many goes on a slice. It has a wide hall, that hosts around 140 customers, 130 meals included in the menu, a summer café where the customers are able to enjoy some wine, and a big mangal on which tasty barbecues is prepared on the charcoal. Our goal is to maintain the Armenian taste and aroma, blending it with the American lifestyle, at the same time. History of Karas brand KARAS was founded in 2005 in Armenia. Currently Karas is one of the biggest food chains operating in Armenia. It has 13 service points in capital Yerevan and 2 service points in resort cities of Armenia. Chronology In 2008 the company was one of the firsts to put in use its own delivery service, which currently occupies one of the leading positions in the Armenian market. In May, 14, 2013 KARAS carried out rebranding by changing its target market segment. The rebranding campaign had its influence on the visual image and the functioning of the company. For our main dishes, we shared the Zharkoe with pork, a hearty and tasty dish that we all enjoyed. We also opted for the Family Combo #1, which could easily feed 4-6 people. The combo featured an array of beautifully grilled meats, including BBQ pork ribs, lamb chops, beef BBQ, chicken BBQ, chicken, and beef lula. Each cut of meat was packed with flavor, but the BBQ pork ribs were my favorite. I'm a meat lover so I'm very picky about the way they cook it. Special thanx to whoever made the meat for beef kebab and whoever cooked it. We ordered potatoes with mushrooms, it was very delicious . And we got Shaurma which was okay. My daughter loves mushrooms so she said she loved the mushrooms with potatoes . I recently visited a great barbecue place Karas and I loved it! The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, perfect for meeting friends or having a family dinner. The menu offered a variety of dishes, but the main star was, of course, the barbecue. I especially want to mention our waiter, Baglan. He was very attentive and friendly. Baglan explained each dish in detail and helped us choose the perfect combination for our dinner. He was also quick to respond to all our requests and was always ready to help. This place is cute! Its on the corner of harvard, across the americana. Parking structure in the back so u don't have to keep driving to find parking. We decided to sit outside cz it was nice & lively. Inside had live music which was cool! Now service.. The service here was disappointing, to say the least. When we politely asked if we could keep one menu at the table in case we wanted to order something else, the front server acted like we had asked the most ridiculous question ever. She actually said, "Make sure you leave the menu to the side and not actually eat on the menu." Who eats on top of menus??? Excuse me? The comment was completely unnecessary and honestly just rude. I went to Karas tonight for the first time with my parents, I was AMAZED! The food is DELICIOUS, and their service is EVEN better! Victoria was our waitress and I must say it's been a LONG time since I've went to a restaurant and had such great customer service. She greeted us with a smile, took her time explaining and answering our questions, and just had such great energy overall. I ordered the cream with mushroom soup and the ciabatta chicken sandwich (both in which she recommended). Let's just say I couldn't stop eating! It's extremely convenient and a big plus that they have so much variety on their menu, it accommodates anyone and everyone's food preference. You are MISSING OUT if you don't try this place. We just happened to walk by this restaurant and I feel very lucky that we did! Our waiter was awesome. They also have nice outdoor seating with heated lamps. The food was excellent!! Have fun and order more food than you think you should and enjoy leftovers the next day. I highly recommend the Greek salad or summer salad and the Margherita pizza! All the tables near us ordered those two items! It's Armenian so I also recommend some other bread items like the kachapuri or the Lahmajoun. I also saw a lot of people eating soup but we didn't try it but we will next time. Lastly, get the barbecue. To clarify, it's grilled meat. Not American style barbecue sauce type of meat. Whyyyyyyyyyyy does this place have the absolute WORST SERVICE! They will not answer your phone calls, they will look at you when your sitting waiting to order, and then god forbid you get there about two hours before they close they will tell you "you might not have enough time to order and eat, we're very strict on time..." This place acts like they don't want any business. Ambiance is depressing and uncomfortable. Food is adequate at best but you have much better options literally within 200 feet than includes great service food and ambiance. I've tried coming here several times for convenience purposes since i live across the street but at this point im beyond fed up!! The location and the set up is great. The menu is filled with many choices of great food. I have only used their delivery, I never ate at the location and the delivery was very prompt. Some of their food tastes amazing and some don't and they seem to change every time I order so they are trying to improve all the time which is great. Some little things should be improved if they want to keep the doors open, I received my order and the pizza was over cooked, I mean way too much, it was burnt, I mean they must have seen it when it came out of the over but they decided to deliver it anyways without hesitation. I would have worried if they had brought sooner than that because it would have meant that they are serving pre cooked food and they just warm it up before serving. BBQ was really tasty because they cooked it on coal. And also, it was well seasoned. I have tried arugula salad in many places; however, this one was the best I've had. We ordered a platter with lamb, vegetables, and lule, and the lamb was exceptionally flavorful and tender. Their green salad was also perfect, especially the feta cheese. In addition to the great food, the service was excellent, the staff was friendly, and the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere. They also offer hookah, making it a great all-in-one spot. If you are looking for a venue with amazing food, a great vibe, and hookah options, I highly recommend checking out Yassou Mediterranean.
