Well, I hadn't stepped foot into Katie's Kitchen in 5 years but our men's club lunch group gave it a try for a new weekday lunch venue. It was a lot more upbeat and vibrant than I was expecting and the place is very popular. I noticed it was particularly popular with several women's groups and that should tell you something - and that is, the restaurant is clean, comfortable, cozy, and has a decent menu. It's also on the loud side, and we'll have to see if some of hard of hearing members can make this place work in the longer run. As far as brunch, they have the full assortment of offerings and they are all fresh and good and reasonably priced. I had 2 eggs over easy with potatoes and pancakes for $10 - can't beat it! Service was quick and friendly also. Their space is also contemporary and airy and I thought it may have recently been remodeled, but my 2020 photos say it's the same decor from 5 years ago, but all is well maintained with a nice clean look. Thumbs up!

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The portion sizes were good and all my family members were pleased with their meals. Cute cozy dining area as well. We were very happy with our experience.

I really enjoyed my breakfast! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I really liked the menu. Definitely will be back! Got the steak skillet and biscuits and gravy. Both hit the spot. The were on Chicago's Best for the Huevos Rancheros. I almost ordered that; next time!

I got my Reuben omelette that I have waited for all year. I get this every March. It is very delicious. Great service by Katie and her crew. Our retired group meet here once a month and they take very good care of us.

We were in the area and looking for someplace new to try for lunch. Opened up Yelp and found we were minutes away from Katie's Kitchen. A hidden gem! Food was hot and yummy! Wait staff was very well informed and pleasant. It was busy but we didn't have to wait for a table. Great breakfast and lunch options. We met the owner. I had to stop and tell her how great the food was and just as importantly, how nice all the staff were. Everyone who made eye contact smiled. What a refreshing and welcoming group of people! We're going back!!

Since it was a special occasion, we finally had the opportunity to dine here, and I made our reservation through the Resy app. When we arrived, we were seated quickly. The first thing that really caught my attention was the atmosphere. The restaurant was converted from a church, and I absolutely love how they preserved the original character of the space. The high ceilings make the restaurant feel open and spacious, while the beautiful stained-glass windows add so much charm and personality. For appetizers, we started with the Shrimp Saganaki and Lobster Maki Roll. Of the two, the Shrimp Saganaki was our favorite. We enjoyed the presentation, flavor, and texture, which were all right up our alley. The Lobster Maki Roll was good, but in my opinion, the lobster-to-rice ratio was a little too heavy on the rice. For my entrée, I ordered the Brick Chicken, which was served as a chicken quarter leg. It was cooked perfectly--the skin was crispy, the meat was tender and juicy, and the garlic sauce complemented the chicken beautifully. For dessert, we ordered the Banana Sticky Toffee Pudding served with vanilla gelato. It was phenomenal and the perfect way to finish our dining experience. I also have to mention the service. Our server was welcoming, attentive, and made us feel comfortable throughout our first visit. The restaurant went above and beyond to make our anniversary even more memorable by surprising us with complimentary champagne and dessert with a sparkling candle. That thoughtful gesture truly made the evening special. Overall, the atmosphere, service, and food were all a hit for us. We had a wonderful anniversary dinner and left with a great experience. They've definitely gained another loyal customer!

The diner has a classic, retro feel with a checkerboard aesthetic that gives it a traditional diner vibe. It is not very modern or trendy, but it is clean and well-kept, which is really what matters. The space feels simple and comfortable, making it a place someone can visit regularly for a quick, reliable meal. The menu is very straightforward and features typical diner staples. The food was pretty good, but the dishes were very basic with nothing particularly unique about them. It felt like the kind of food you might make at home, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it wasn't especially memorable either. I ordered an egg sandwich with cheese and sausage ($9.95). I also ordered bacon on the side (3 for $4.25). The egg sandwich was okay, but the bagel tasted like those cheap bagels you would get at a hotel during their complimentary breakfast that come from a bag. The sandwich didn't have anything on it other than exactly what they called it on the menu: a bagel, sausage links cut in half, an egg, and cheese. Nothing on the sandwich was seasoned or flavorful. My husband enjoyed his food much more than I did, and he ordered the Big Texas Breakfast ($12.95). This came with country-fried steak with sausage gravy on top, 2 eggs your way, and hash brown potatoes. He also ordered sausage links on the side (3 for $4.25). The service was friendly, and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time, which worked well for us since we were on a bit of a tight schedule. Overall, Lola's Diner delivered a simple diner experience with homemade-style food. I would come here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice for breakfast.
