Every time I walk by a mirror or see my reflection in a window, I cringe. Donna did my hair and she deserves the lowest ranking. By the end of my appointment, I couldn't even look her in the eyes because I was so upset. I walked into the salon with a head of almost all blonde highlights. I told her I loved my blonde color. I asked her to color my roots and then put in a few low lights for definition -- just a few and then we'll keep adding more for contrast if necessary in the future. We talked about this for some time before she even touched my hair and she said she understood. When she had just started working on my hair, we were talking about the next appointment and she said, "Don't give me any direction. Just let me do what I think you should get." Well, that's exactly what she did this time. After I had emphasized that I loved, loved my blonde hair, I walked out of the salon with brown hair covering more than half my head. She kept using phrases like "you're a representative of me on social media, I'm going to do what looks good on you." Clearly, she didn't, totally disregarding what I explicitly asked her to do - keep my blonde hair and add a few low lights. Side note... I've been to Keldara many times. This was the first (and obviously last time) that I'll see Donna, but the other salon services like pedicures, manicures, massages, stylists, etc. have been wonderful. I made an appointment and waited 20min for the stylist. I was about to leave and i told the receptionist. This was when I was brought to the stylists chair. I will say my stylist was very professional and friendly. I was then told I could not get a blow dry because I didn't book this online. I must say that is very confusing when booking. I have booked for foils with Meredith who is great many times. Unfortunately, she was booked up and I booked with a senior stylist, Cindy, who has 17 years of experience. I booked for a full foil and asked Cindy to touch up my roots and even them out to match the rest of my hair. She had kept my hair under the foils for over an hour and my hair fell out as they were taking out the foils. She tried to assure me that this was "normal" however it has never happened to me in my life. My hair continued to fall out as the assistant was brushing it and has continued to fall out after leaving the salon. I have lost about 1/3rd of my hair. I have tried to reach out to the manager regarding this issue and have yet to hear back. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of concern and communication by the management. read more

I just had a really unfortunate experience here and it was really disappointing because I have been going here for quite some time and have always had a pleasant experience . I was recently here and cindy completely got my color wrong . When I decided the next day that I wanted it fixed I got nothing but grief from the stylist as well as the manager. Also when I went in the next day to get it fixed the original stylist who did the color and messed it up was highly confrontational indicating that I was not clear. Also the next day when I went in to get it fixed I was there for 2.5 hours and left unattended for long periods of time by Kayla . When I brought that to the attention of the manager she basically said maybe their place was not a fit for me . The staff were super friendly and helpful and the ambience was relaxing and peaceful. We live close by and are very excited to have a spa we can frequent now and not have to drive far for a massage. I've been twice for a cut, color, blow dry. Both times I've had Michelle A and I've been so happy with the results. She listens to what you want and will go out of her way to make it happen. She consults with other senior stylists and everyone really collaborates and helps each other out. I had a few nightmare experiences at another salon prior to trying out Keldara (dyed my dark brown hair black 1 time and colored my gray roots a bronzy orangish color another time). I really do love this all in one salon. I've been going here for almost 4 years since moving to a neighboring town. I've had facials, waxing, manicures and pedicures, and they've all been fantastic- I've never been disappointed. But the shining star at this salon is stylist Katelyn. She is a master colorist! Not only is she friendly and professional, she listens and understands the blonde color I'm looking for, whether it's more low lights and gold in the fall or all out platinum highs in the summer. My hair is tricky and takes a long time for the color to come up, and she's always patient and I never feel rushed. Keldara is lucky to have such great talent, and I'd follow her anywhere! I am giving 2 stars, because I did love my hairdresser Kala, But the manager is a very unpleasant person, and should be removed, First let me add up all the money I have dropped at this facility since July 2018 to Sept 2018, $435.00 UMM!! ya think I would have gotten more courteous service Upon arrival for a 5 pm appt, after trying to get there on time because of traffic coming out of West Roxbury, but I made it. two employees working with one client, so a total of three customers waiting, one of the employees, went to get employee #3, she came out with food in her mouth saying whose next so I pointed to the woman to my right Then I am waiting and then, in the mean time another customer comes in and now those other 2 employees are done with the original customer. So I was waiting and the employee says to the woman to my left who had just entered "may I help you" now its after 5 my appt time, and I said Sorry but I'm next, so she moves to me and says, with no niceness, " who are you here to see" I tell her and she says"name" meaning my name, and in the in the mean time the other employee says "I am so sorry" but does the woman who waits on me say I'm sorry "NO" she says your all set. She was the manager come to find out, but I shake it off, go thru the facility, because I usually buy a trinket, now my hairdresser comes, we go, she is great, explains to me everything she recommends, I agree, so she does the roots, she says about 35 mins Okay, no problem, I wanted to call my grandson., in the color waiting area you cannot use your cell phone, so I go out the door to left call my grandson Whose 16th birthday was that day, to wish him happy birthday, we talk I finish, My car was about 5 cars in the opposite direction of the front door, so I start to walk to it, I find this woman yelling to me " you cannot be outside with color in your hair, what? it is not allowed she says,I say seriously, I am doing it, its not allowed she says, and I said well ya I am So I get what I want from my car, I sit there and was not real happy that someone that I pay an enormous amount of money dictates to me I cannot leave the building, is it a jail?? are they going to call the hair dresser police or put it on my permanent record and the tone from her was not nice So in summary, I was upset,to think some one would talk to me that way, and was I held captive,??? so I went in, told them to wash me out, and then paid $60.00, and the woman who was rude upon arrival and who said I could not leave the building is the manager, !!!! I will never return ever!!! , I went basically every 3 weeks, and those gift certificates of $100 for my girls, I will not drop a dime there ever again. I'll start out by saying that the ONLY reason I'm giving Keldara four stars instead of five is because, like the other reviewers have said, it's a bit pricey. However, the quality of service there will most definitely garner my repeated business - I'll just have to be a little more frugal in other departments! I walked in to Keldara an absolute horror - inches of dead ends, brassy hair color, and dull & limp tresses, ew! I visited on a Thursday afternoon, and I was quickly given a tour of the salon & spa, and I met with Biz (Elizabeth) for a consultation. Biz was young and vibrant, and very honest with me about what would work with my hair and what wouldn't. I really loved her attitude, and I was able to book an appointment for the next day! The day of my appointment, I was greeted immediately at the counter with a smile, escorted to the waiting area, then quickly whisked away to a waxing room to have my eyebrows done. The music was soothing, the table I laid on was so comfortable, the esthetician was jovial and friendly, and FAST! I was in and out with perfect eyebrows before I could blink. But it was Biz that stole the show, saving my drab locks with a wonderful chocolate brunette Aveda coloring and a meticulously cut & styled do. She took pains to make sure each hair was trimmed properly, and was so precise in her movements. She recommended shampoos to me, but didn't push, and showed me how to get the same look out of a blow dryer and round brush at home. In the end I had to give her a hug for turning me into a new woman! I always thought that I've had decent haircuts in the past... and I had. But now I see the difference between a "decent" haircut and a fabulous one. I will most definitely be back, and I can't wait for my next visit! read more

My first impression of my stylist was waiting in the chair for 5 minutes after my shampoo, for staff to locate Jen who was in the bathroom. To my left was a heavy young girl getting payed to sit in the clients chair texting on her cell phone...and throughout my entire haircut, albeit took all of 10 minutes. I consulted with Jen with my slicked back wet hair so she never saw how I wore it. Glad I brought a photograph of my last haircut for her to reference. She didn't talk which at time, is fine, until I asked how long she'd worked there. Shockingly 9 years. She was rough moving my head into positions. Combed and re-combed my ear until it turned red. She asked me how the back "FELT" never offering a mirror which I assumed it was attitude to go with the silence so I didn't ask. Ironically I've also received 3 years of Cosmetology study's in a vocational school w/ 10 years of additional experience -which I'd normally mention to anyone with basic people skills. The shampooer was MORE professional and they'd only been there a few months when I asked. My stylist Jen didn't section or part the hair nor cross check while working, she checked sideburn length thru the mirror and left my right side 1/4" longer, disregarded my reference photo arbitrarily cutting off the front length from the bang, essentially jumping around nipping here and there, squared up the back, and called my wet hair done. The humdinger was leaving with soaking wet hair in January. If there was a charge for a blow dry I would've paid it but I was never offered. Maybe the Keldara Way who f***ng knows? My obligations this afternoon had to be cancelled so I could run home mid-afternoon to dry my hair. My hair looked better going in than it did coming out, in case that's the look you're after! It was exhausting faking a smile on my way out. I wish this had been a better experience, I would've lived at this salon for the many other services had this experience been even mediocre vs. trips back and forth to Boston. Receptionist were generic. Shampoo was fine but I didn't go there for those things and I won't return. Keep looking. *UPDATE: I removed one star as one of your employees keeps harassing thru Yelp for leaving a bad review. It's discernibly the girl from the hydraulic chair. Sending numerous messages calling me rude, shallow, & inexperienced. She seemed inflamed for citing her habitus to attribute her BEHAVIOR for management. She disclosed the payment arrangements at Keldara as she gets "commission" so she was not paid for the time she sat in the chair using her phone (and I should know that from my experience) and feels it is not her job to greet or make her coworkers clients feel welcome and credits my stylist Jen with my bad impression of their salon. She is adamant about her weight even after I expressed sensitivity toward this but her weight did not influence my reviews rating. I've been coming here ever since I grew out my bowl cut. Every woman in my family sees Meghan because she is amazing; great stylist, great person. If you want to save money and are looking for a simple cut, the junior stylists are perfectly capable as well. Keldara also does a great job with eyebrows. They basically treat it as important as a haircut, as they should if you care anything about what your face looks like. I definitely would prefer to spend money and have my eyebrows shaped and even than pay $5 at a nail place and get wax in my hair. I always walk away beautiful. I drive down from north of Boston just to Keldara and have been going there for about 6 years. They have a very consistent training program which means that when my stylist is unavailable, I can see someone else and get a great haircut. My favorite part is the scalp massage that they give while washing your hair. The place is clean, stylish and offers any service you could want. I have also gotten pedicures, massages, and make-up there. In fact, I brought all of my bridesmaids to Keldara the morning of my wedding and they did a great job! read more

Not for those of us on a budget. I went here because I wanted to get an organic perm and I could not find ANY other salon in the area that offered this service. The price was a good $40 more than any other salons (okay, 'organic' stuff gets pricey, I figured.) For the price I paid I would have expected MUCH better customer service from my stylist. The woman with whom I had booked the appointment was clearly overbooked, and had no problem letting me know. In fact, the assistant took care of the majority of my appointment, aside from setting the perm. Keldara is a beautiful salon with a lovely spa atmosphere, but I'm feeling less than relaxed after my latest experience. I went in for a customized facial; my skin needed it but I was more looking forward to the extras that came along with it (massage, hot stones, etc). My esthetician quickly suggested that we do the ultrasonic treatment due to my sensitive skin, and I agreed assuming this was the "customizable" part of the facial and the only thing she let me know was the price increase. Needless to say, about 40 minutes later, ten of which I sat in the darkened room alone with a mask on, my treatment (I've since learned it's not even called a facial on their website) was over and none of the extras received. I guess it was my responsibility to ask explicit questions as I was about to get undressed, but it's a shame that the estheticians aren't fully transparent when upcharging clients and in return proving a completely separate service than you went in for and we're looking forward to. read more

I've been coming to Keldara on and on for about 10 years. I will say this, I always end up coming back because they can be really great about day of cuts, or massages two things of which can be absolutely impossible to find at a popular place. I have experience 50 percent absolutely wondering staff, and 50 percent rude. The spa staff seems to be more friendly and accommodating. I do not get my hair done here alot because I believe it is overpriced for the level of skill you are getting. Of the 10 times I have got my hair cut/colored here, I would say 3 of them came out looking stunning. There was one time that my hair was so fried from here that I had to go to another salon that informed me that "my hair had been in no condition to be colored when it was. * something a skilled colorist should have known. I have noticed this place go from extremely busy to slow over the years I don't know if that is because they have lost a lot of clientele. She was very gentle and meticulous. It's about 3 weeks out and they still look and FEEL great. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and conversation. Loved this place from the moment we walked in. Calm and welcoming without feeling cheesy. Personally walked us to the changing room and gave us robes, slippers and lockers before bringing us to the lounge for a cup of tea before our service. Very peaceful. Best massage I've ever had!! I am not the best with making appointments for myself but when I do, I like to be pampered and that is what you get at Keldara Salon and Spa. Also, after having my hair highlighted & washed, head MASSAGED, and hair cut with a blow dry, I thought I would be spending close to $300 - but that was NOT the case! I was pleasantly surprised at the cost. What I did find out though is that there are levels of stylists and mine was in the middle of the road. You can get someone who is just starting out and pay less or have a senior stylist and pay more. In any of those cases, I don't think you will be disappointed at all. Just love this salon! read more

My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary this week! We got a couples massage so they put us in the couples suite. It was so nice and relaxing. I had a guy named Ryan, who I highly reccommend, who really gave a great massage and got the areas where I had the most tension. After the massage I was so relaxed and so was my boyfriend we both felt great. Excellent stylists but management is poor. They invoked a Covid recovery fee which was initially billed as a sanitation fee. Following a year of paying 2-4$$ per client/per visit I called to ask exactly what the fee is covering. The manager said it was now a recovery fee and the salon could not operate without the surcharge. She was extremely rude and dismissed me. Claimed that it covered product charges. I know for a fact that they charge their stylists product charges, which most salons do not. Customer service from management was deplorable and I can only imagine how challenging it must be for their talented stylists to work with this ownership. read more

I tried this place after seeing all the positive remarks it got on Yelp and I was VERY pleased with my results! I went today for the first time, just for a trim with Cindy and she was great. She was running behind schedule a little bit but I didn't mind because I didn't have anywhere else to be. She was very friendly and knowledgable and frank with me! She managed to straighten my thick, course hair in about a half hour using only the hair dryer. No one has ever been able to do that to my hair! The cut itself was very quick but she knew exactly what she was doing, as it came out just lovely. The ambiance and the whole feel of the place are also awesome. It was big and open and the decor was very pleasing. Plus, I even got a little head massage by the girl washing my hair. 100% making this my "go to" salon and even booked my hair and makeup appointment for my engagement photo shoot! read more
