This review is looong overdue! My sister and I use to live in El Granada and the last time we were at this place it was called Ketch Joanne's. We went more recently (a few months ago), and was pleasantly surprised by the remodel - it looks amazing - and was even more blown away by the staff. Those who know me, know that customer experience is my top priority. The hostess, Carla, was incredibly sweet and genuine, and made my sister and I feel extremely welcomed. It was a very crowded day and she handled multiple customers with ease. One of the owners and executive chef, Eduardo, was amazing. We ended up speaking with him after we ate to learn more about the changes, new menu items, etc. We are very much into the small town community feel and speaking with him really made it feel like we were back home again and made us miss living on the coast. He was so easy to talk to and really showed he cared by taking the time to answer all of our questions so thoroughly. Along with the hospitality, the food was so delicious! We ordered our favorite fisherman's platter and seafood pasta. We had such a great time, we came back the very next day. Thank you, Eduardo and Carla, for representing Ketch Harbor Pub so well. When our food did arrive, my friend's cup of clam chowder was delivered with her entrée, which is unusual, and not ideal. My crab Eggs Benedict was lukewarm, and the hollandaise sauce lacked flavor. In a Town filled with very few good restaurants Ketch has amazing fresh seafood, Chowder in bread bowl and Cobb salad with fried chicken. The only restaurant in HMB I will take out of town guests. RIP ketch Joanne's. I am heartbroken to see what this place has become. No joke when we saw that our favorite establishment was closed for remodeling my ex boyfriend and I prayed it wouldn't turn into another boring overpriced grey place. Well. That is exactly what happened. They took everything out that gave it warmth and character and replaced it with high prices with not character or personality. I even decided to give it a try but I the wait for me to eve order take out was obnoxious and the prices pretty bad (not sure why the prices are so high when the decor is clearly dollar store worthy....the prior wooden booths are worth more then anything in there today!). I was in the HMB area Nov. 2024. I stopped there for a few Happy Hours, and really enjoyed the very fresh and well presented oysters, calamar, shrimp ceviche and fried artichokes. The attached small fish market also provided some wonderful rockfish, aka red snapper (I think). Really delicious fish, in any case. If I lived closer, I'd be there at least once a week! The service was slow.. our server tried his best but we literally sat for 20 minutes before anyone came by our table. The artichoke hearts were good. My eggs Benedict came out cold and the plate was full of oil. My husband's seafood pasta dish came out warm and he liked it. My cocktail was good but it took a long time to get.. it was about an hour before we were served our main meal. Initially, they say that the eggs Benedict wasn't possible because it was noon but I pointed out that we arrived at 11:25 and sat for a long time.. and ordered before noon. I think the restaurant shouldn't open the second patio if they aren't paying attention to that section. The food here is delicious and the staff are amazing! I love getting the fish tacos, grilled instead of fried. Always fresh, with juicy mango salsa. The StrawCoco drink is a must-try, like a tropical island vacation in a glass. I also appreciate that they have gluten free bread, allowing me to enjoy the steak sandwich. As for the staff, Oscar and Cynthia took great care of me on many of my visits and Mishelle is always a delight to chat with! Eduardo, the head chef, openly elicits feedback and is very attentive to ensure his customers are happy with the quality of the food. I really wanted to love this place, but oh well. The girl who seated us was super nice. The guy who took our order was super nice. The guy who brought our orders didn't seem to want to be there. hahaha. we all have one of those. Food was good, but the other yelpers were right about the wait. Took forever for our food, about 45 minutes and then maybe an hour for the dog's order. Not much of checking on you. they weren't busy and appeared to have lots of people working. Outdoor seating is great, but we won't be back. Parking is 2 hours only I think so hopefully your food don't take long. read more

Fantastic food and service! The Chilequiles are so YumYum!! The Chilequiles were mistakenly taken off the menu, but miraculously when we requested it, they made it for us. I don't know if it's offered as a special or if it's part of their local secret menu item, but I highly recommend it. Oscar was our go to point server. He is the best! Friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and all with such a beautiful smile. We felt so welcomed. Oscar you are the best. Thank you and Thank you!!! Eduardo is the head chef and one of the owners. There are no words to describe the level of hospitality and service. His knowledge and expertise is incomparable and irreplaceable. My family and I have been going to Ketch Joanne's for Mothers Day breakfast every year since my kids were born. Last year when it was closed, we were so disappointed. We recently found out it had reopened so we jumped at the chance to go check it out for Mother's Day this year. Sadly, The Ketch as its now called is nothing like the original and while many may have think the upgrade was needed, I think it could have been done all while maintaining some of the nostalgia of the old Ketch Joanne's. The wood burning stove is gone, the pictures of the generations of fisherman are absent and it feels like they erased all the history. Outside of the change in décor, the menu is very different with a more modern flare at twice the price and half the portion size, but what was most disappointing to me was the service. I had a reservation and my family of 4 was seated immediately inside. It didn't appear to be very crowded, lots of empty tables around us but for some reason, we were passed over time and time again as the wait staff would pass by. After 30 minutes, I asked what appeared to be the manager to take our order. It took another 15 minutes just to get drinks delivered to the table and our breakfast order took another 45 minutes after that. Maybe we were just the unfortunate ones on Sunday who were treated to poor service but it was enough to make me not want to go back. read more

We had a late lunch at the new Ketch today and left less than impressed. First of all, most of our group ordered cocktails and one beer. The beer took 20 minutes to arrive, long after the cocktails. I asked after it to a server and was given a blank look and a little bit of a sassy okay. When it finally showed up, it was a supposed to be a Heineken, but we were given an unopened Heineken Zero. Turns out they don't serve regular Heineken. We asked for another beer and were brought a regular beer. No big deal, but it resulted in a 30 minute wait. Now, for the food. The Prime Rib Sandwich was inedible. It tasted strangely sour and was very heavy on mushrooms. Flavor, texture, all gross. All for the low price of 20 something bucks. There was a hair in the garlic fries. The Hop Dogma stew was very unpleasantly fishy and served with a ridiculous tiny spoon. The garlic fries that didn't have hair on them were delicious but the fish portion of the fish and chips was bland and dry. The cocktail sauce was very funky and neither of the people who ordered it touched it beyond a taste. We asked about the Dungeness Crab Sandwich and were told that although there is fresh crab sold on the pier mere feet from the restaurant, the crab is Alaskan and frozen. The cocktails were delicious, I'll give them that. After all that, our meal was astronomically expensive (with a mandatory 18% tip) and barely edible. The bill came in an actual book about the harbor. Maybe this place needs to dedicate more energy into the food and less into the cutesy crap. While they claim to be for both locals and visitors alike, this is an obvious tourist trap. We all ate what we ordered only out of sheer hunger. We are locals, and if any of us ever go back it will be only for cocktails maybe with some garlic fries. None of the rest of this place is worth it for a second. read more

If you *have* to eat here, it won't kill you. Fish and chips are soggy. Probably the worst I've had in HMB. Fish tacos were said to come with cod, but came with salmon. Very fishy. For soggy fish and chips - was remade, and then fresh and soggy. The waiter said he would just take it off the bill. I didn't expect that, but thought it was nice and thanked him. A sunny patio and a cozy interior provides both sun or shade, depending on the sun's grimace or lack there of with costal fog. Waiters are present, but not overbearing, offering whatever libation sounds good to wet that whistle. Many Bloody Mary's will line your horizon here, but the Mai Tai is muy bueno and will erupt sunlight in any sore head, so don't neglect the offering. Breakfast is served until noon, and the pancakes are evenly browned and perfect, but if you want those fish tacos, head here after the bell tolls 12. read more

Ketch was one of the best stops on PCH! On a road trip up north we stopped at Ketch for lunch for some seafood and couldn't have been more pleased with the variety of options! Fireplace built into the table leaving no room for plates. Plates were almost tipping over. "we have bigger tables, but we have to keep them open for bigger parties". They could at least bring an appetizer? No. An hour folks. With the air fryer. I forget my credit card there. We were just here a few hours ago, we were supposed to go to a different chowder house but decided to try this one and boy was I not wrong - by far, one of the tastiest clam chowders Ive ever tried, bar none! I am a fan of clam chowder, everytime fheres a clam chowder in any restaurants we try, i make it a point to try it & this is my favorite amongst all!!
