I am a local and have a boat out in the harbor. I used to frequent the Ketch Joann restaurant on occasion, and love the salads with that awesome dressing. The one thing I started to notice was the cleanliness of the establishment, which was not good . It needed a thorough cleaning . The Ketch was closed soon after and new owners took over. The first thing they did was gutted and cleaned the place which was priority. When they finally reopened, I visited, and was very pleased to find a a clean and well lit restaurant. I had the Joanne salad once again, and found that the dressing had remained intact. I also had a delicious Irish coffee in the bar, and my friend had a whiskey sour which she said was one of the best. I look forward to trying the rest of my favorite dishes and maybe a few new ones The ketch is an important fixture in the harbor and I'm very glad it's back up and running. read more

A tasty Cioppino to warm up on a cold rainy Coastside night sounded perfect so I went to Ketch for dinner. The Cioppino was great. Also had the oysters and the chocolate cake for dessert (both were delicious too). The ambiance and waitstaff were attentive and friendly. Overall a great experience!!! read more

I recently went to Ketch for a lunch get together with two friends. We ended up sitting at the bar and had an absolutely lovely time. Exceptional service, kind employees, and one of the best wedge salads I've had in the entire northern California area! The bar and restaurant were both busy but the noise level was reasonable. We have been going to the Marina since 2007, when we discovered a hole in the wall, the Princeton Seafood Restaurant. Literally through a hole in the wall they served low key but amazing quality food with the great Marina views. The crab cakes, the chowder and the sandwiches all absolutely outstanding. Then we came out once and it was closed. We were told that supposedly a higher end restaurant will soon take its place. Today we went out to try it. The new place Ketch Harbor Pub has a nice ambiance with new design and the same great Marina views. But that is where the story ends, service and food absolutely subpar. We waited for a half an hour to be served, although they were not busy and several servers were walking around, avoiding eye contact. The food, probably worst we had in a while. We had a crab sandwich that was just sad, the cheapest sourdough bread, dry crab meat out of a can and some sad fries. 7/11 style sandwich quality. The Cioppino, looked better, but was also just average, not a lot of flavor. Anyhow, we were saddened to see that the amazing simple plates of the previous restaurant, anchored in traditions from Princeton Harbor's history were reinvented in the blandest way possible. read more

Ketch was the perfect spot for lunch with my family after horseback riding. My brother and cousin loved their crab sandwiches. Both the New England Clam Chowder and the Soup of the Day (Roasted Red Pepper in a tomato base) were devoured. The roasted red pepper soup was the soup of the day and the texture was fantastic. My ahi tuna salad was so tasty - the ahi tuna was generous and fresh, the greens were crisp, and the salad was not overdressed. The service was friendly and attentive. The music volume was so comfortable -- we had not seen each other in a while and we were able to talk and catch up. They have a full bar and those who ordered Irish coffees and bloody Mary's were pleased. The have fun non-alcoholic options as well like the hibiscus cooler. Super loud, could barely hear anyone at our table, and everyone in our party thought their food was very bland or ho-hum. Also, their happy hour menu posted on their website was rather misleading, since you could only order from it from inside the bar (not indicated on their website). Recently tried The Ketch & it was pretty disappointing. I am a vegetarian so I can't attest to the fish & chips but the salad I got was very underwhelming. Small, at $14 I thought it was an entree salad, turns out it was a side salad, very small. Everyone at the table was stunned how small it was. Several of my companions ordered sodas at $4 each. The glasses were very small & no refills. Everyone's lunch was small & Most walked away hungry. I shared some fries ( since my salad was so small) & they were typical restaurant fries, clearly dumped in a fryer from a bag. I realize that the restaurant is new & has big shoes to fill, but super small portions is not the way to get locals to come back. read more

I was waiting for the opening. Sadly disappointed. If you are looking for menu items from the original restaurant, you will not find any. Salads and lots of non seafood items on menu. Crab sandwich use to be good and definitely my go to, not the same- grill the bread. Fish and chips, said it was cod, did not have the texture or taste. Did not like their tartar sauce. I saw some negative press on this site, but after stopping by earlier in the day to check out the menu and being greeted by enthusiastic employee, I thought it looked worth a try. We arrived without reservation but we're quickly seated after a short wait. The place was very busy. The menu had a little bit of everything. We opted for clam chowder, very good. The local Crab legs were super as well as the ceviche stuffed avocado. Beyond the good food at reasonable prices, the service was exceptional. I'm a native of Half Moon Bay and just had the Dungeness Crab Benedict here for the first time. I don't know why I waited so long! It was fabulous. You could cut through the muffin on the bottom, very generous portion of crab and the hollandaise was perfect. Our server was attentive and friendly. If you're fortunate enough to have Lisa stop by your table, enjoy it, she's charming. My Mother had an omelette and loved it. My niece had the ricotta pancakes and they were delicious too. My three friends and I visited Ketch for the first time and had a wonderful time. The service was outstanding and food excellent. We were in the mood for linguine with prawns which is not a menu item. "No problem!" we were told, and they cheerfully whipped up a special order for us.
