My family was so disappointed when we heard Princeton Seafood closed for good. This was our Mother's Day tradition for many years. We love Ketch!! We are locals and have been there many times since they have opened. The atmosphere is amazing inside and out. We have many favorites there including the wedge salad, prime rib sandwich, calamari appetizer, crab sandwich and the tostada!! And the drinks are great esp if you like Bloody Marys. I could go on and on about the food but I need to give a shout out to the staff. They are all sooo friendly esp Tara, Marcus, and Michelle. I need to mention that there are some people who miss the old Ketch Joanne's restaurant. When we were there one day a couple came in, looked at the menu and started to leave. When Marcus questioned them they stated they came for the shrimp and crab sandwich that Ketch Joanne had. He offered to have the chef make it for them. As we left, I asked how they liked it and they they were so happy they stayed. I realize that change is difficult for some. subpar at best.. was super disappointed with our experience for many reasons tonight. I made a reservation a day in advance, when we showed up I checked in and asked the hostess if we could sit outside which she said yes just give her a few minutes. Then she called us and proceeded to sit us right by the kitchen inside with a super loud fan, we asked to move and she stated their was nothing outside only one other table inside (there was plenty of outdoor seating). Service was not the greatest either, a lot of just sitting around waiting to order then waiting a long time for food. Ordered drinks in the beginning and it didn't come until the end. Since we had a great view of the kitchen there was an employee checking their phone and one who blew their nose and then served food right after. Food was not great and definitely not worth the price. We even had already gratuity added to our check because "6" is a big party (never had this experience at other half moon bay restaurants). You are much better off going to Barbara's fish trap or Half Moon Bay Brewing Co down the road! read more

Huge oysters, amazing creamy clam chowder, fish tacos were flavorful and so fresh and the fish and chips were the best I've ever had. So fresh!!! Thankfully, rather than this original establishment closing, some well minded entrepreneurs have taken it over and turned it into a beautiful , nostalgic spot. While , yes, it's not the original (many things aren't, you're probably reading this on your phone for goodness sake ) they have done a fantastic job with the remodel. My daughter, husband and I visited Ketch Harbor Pub located in Half Moon Bay on Friday, January 03, 2025. We have never been to this restaurant/pub before and we are glad we went in to have lunch. All three of us ordered the Fish & Chips and we were not disappointed. The fish was well-breaded and piping hot when it got to our table, and the french fries that came with each meal were hot and plentiful. We also all ordered a cup of Clam Chowder as well. We were not disappointed. The Clam Chowder was not overly fishy tasting and there were plenty of potatoes in each cup of Clam Chowder. Our server, Oscar C. was so friendly and very attentive to us even though he seemed to be very busy with other customers too. read more

Went for a quick mid afternoon bite which turned out to be not so quick starting off with getting a table. Our party began by checking in with the host who said they would get us a table in just a second but then began seating other guests that came after. The restaurant seemed mostly empty but looked understaffed so the waiting was not a problem, but the host came up to our group after asking if we had checked in as if they had forgotten our party or not even taken note of it before. This was frustrating as we waited around 25 minutes to be immediately taken and sat in the bar. After ordering with the bartender we waited at least 30 minutes for a SINGULAR bowl of clam chowder to come out when we had ordered four. After this bowl came out we waited at least an additional 25 minutes for the remaining bowls to come out as well as our appetizer of calamari, only for them to be COLD. This is unacceptable for food to come like this especially when it was probably plated and just left out not under any sort of warmer. Still waiting on three orders, crab sandwiches, fried fish combo, and a fish and chips we sent back the orders and requested them to be warmed up. While the warmed soups and calamari was arriving the rest of the food arrived cold as well. The only thing that came as it should have the first time was the soup that arrived way too early. This service was not met the way it should have been by who I assumed to be a manager that came over and apologized for the poor service but sent out cold food shortly after fixing the mistake with the soup. Following the last order of cold food coming out we could not even get a hold of the bartender who was running a full bar to fix our new cold food that came out and decided it was not worth the hassle it took the first time. We left this restaurant after waiting such a long time to get extremely subpar food at what we had expected to be a decent establishment. When closing out the tab I mentioned to the bartender who was extremely busy at the bar about our cold food and it being sent out a lot later than the soup and they made excuses about how it was just because they submitted the order before we were all done ordering and made a separate order for the soup. This excuse is not nearly enough to justify the service and experience we received and I hope this was a one off occurrence and does not happen in the future to anyone else. read more

We are locals and used to go the Ketch before. The food was great, the service was good and you always felt welcome. Now...you have to wait a ridiculous amount of time just to get service, the food is way over priced for the quality and quantity and the few times we've been now, our order was wrong. This last time, we sat at the bar for over 20mins and couldn't get a drink, menu or even acknowledgment from the several wait staff and bartender that we tried to wave down. We won't be going back there ever. read more

As a local it's great to see the improvements made to the harbor restaurant area. The Ketch is still a warm and cozy place to gather and has beautiful views of the harbor. The staff is friendly and attentive. I'm a breakfast person so I ordered the avocado toast, served with perfectly poached eggs and yummy crispy bacon! Not a huge portion but still satisfying. I think it was $18 which is the going price for eating out these days. Loved my time there and stroll around the harbor afterwards. Still a lovely spot to grab a bite so I recommend you give it a try! read more

The only thing that was good about my visit to the new KETCH was my Bloody Mary. I ordered the Fish and Chips - awful. The fish (the measly three pieces) was greasy and overdone, literally more breading than fish. A tiny taste of coleslaw, and cold fries. For a place that sits on one of CA's greatest fishing ports, an inexcusable fail. My girlfriend had their special Omelette, abundant in ingredients, lacking in flavor. The staff was overly friendly, but out of touch, and without real service aptitude. The place is clean, bright and comfortable. We sat here on a Sunday afternoon. We tried various apps and entres and everything was delicious and fresh! The onion rings and calamari were very fresh and the linguini pescatore was so good we ordered a second. We sample many of the cocktails such as the passion fruit mojito, tropical peach serenity and harbor sunset... all 10/10 with a great pour. Finally, the service was perfect. The hostess was welcoming and the waitress was attentive and friendly. They have done a good job freshening up the place which feels more light and open with rustic decor while saving some of the history by framing old pictures of fishermen and Joann and family. My wife and I stopped into Ketch Harbor Pub today for our first time and were extremely impressed. The staff were polite, professional, attentive and friendly. We ordered off their breakfast menu (from 8-11a) and the food was absolutely delicious. After breakfast, and a leisurely walk around the pier, we returned to Ketch to purchase some of their fresh fish from their attached market to bring home for dinner. My wife and I have gone to this restaurant, formerly Ketch Joanne's for years. (My wife's family for decades prior). So when we heard their was going to be a change of ownership we were sad to hear our traditional stop was changing. However we had the good fortune of meeting the new owners of Ketch David and Mishelle who were both wonderful. Their efforts to update the local landmark restaurant while preserving some of its charm and respect for the local commercial fishing community is wonderful to see. They have managed to strike a balance of honoring the memory while bringing in a needed refresh and update. Change isn't always easy, but they have managed to do it with style and grace. If you have an opportunity go see for yourself! Some of the coming updates are looking to be amazing. read more

But the food was grossly overpriced. and I know owner will respond condescendingly about getting all products fresh and locally when I know for a fact that is a lie, I live in half moon bay and know staff there personally. It's entirely frozen seafood with an occasional exception. Legitimately $24 for a small bowl of fried rice. Absurd. Go to Sam's chowder house. Or just cook at home lol. Also you know it's bad when one employee is running around trying their best to perform three different job positions.
