Keeping this review short and sweet because it's simple- we've been here three times, and it's pretty obvious why. Kevin's Kitchen serves authentic, delicious Cantonese cuisine. The prices are also reasonable compared to other Chinese restaurants, and it's well worth it because you can taste the freshness (especially the seafood and fried items), the wok hei, and the well-balanced flavors. They also offer affordable daily lunch specials with generous portions. They've been consistently good every time we've visited, so I highly recommend Kevin's Kitchen for both lunch and dinner if you're craving great and authentic Chinese food!! Pro tip: Call ahead, especially for dinner. They get pretty busy, and it's not a very big space, so you could end up waiting a loooong time for a table. Chinese dinners also tend to take a while, so plan ahead and save you and your party the wait!
Kevin's kitchen has great lunch specials. Where else can I get a loaded and tasty beef chow fun for $12.99? The service is prompt and quick. If you choose to dine in you inform any worker you find upon entry. If you're doing take out, promptly stroll over to the cash register area to your right upon entry. Char siu - The honey Char siu. Guys. It's so good. I keep coming back for it. Duck - Plump and tasty. $42 for the whole duck, $21 for half. They have a lot of the classic Chinese comfort dishes in hawaii such as walnut shrimp, fried rice, and noodles. My grandma enjoyed the chicken curry in the clay pot. That was a nice dish with bits of veggie in it. Make sure you order all your food from the get go. The kitchen is able to prep your food faster this way. Also it's a bit hard flagging down a worker because they're hustling all over the restaurant. They are busy. So be smart and just order it all in the beginning. The restaurant can get loud when there are more people dining it. Very lively. Happy dining and yelping!
Kevin's Kitchen is the Chop Suey place that serves fine dining Chinese food! I rank them in my top three of Chinese restaurants on Oahu. You can't beat their dishes for the quality and value pricing they give you! The quantity they give is also very generous.i highly recommend this restaurant if you're craving great Chinese food and the staff also give top notch service!
It gets very busy so go early or if you have a large party, make reservations as they have 4 large tables to seat 8-10 people. The restaurant opens at 9am which is early! Parking is congested cause you share with alot of other businesses! They are known for their barbeque meats: duck, roast pork and char siu. Lunch specials are very reasonable with rice and combination of bbq meats, shoyu chicken and shanghai cabbage. I had char siu and roast pork with a heavy portion of rice, shanghai cabbage. It was very tasty! They even had Bento boxes specials! Only 3 stars because they dont serve water even when you ask. Also, there was a baby cockaroach that appeared on my side of the table that spoiled my appetite,!!! UGH. The restaurant is fairly new and looks clean so where did it come from? ?? Yucky!
Food is such a great deal for the prices and portions. There are not too many places on island with reasonable prices and good food nowadays. I love their lunch specials. I tried the crispy pork belly rice, and the Thai basil style fried rice and both were so delicious! I would definitely recommend coming here. They have big tables ideal for large family settings. And the service was good.
Fast and efficient service! Came for my dad's birthday. Ordered a lot of dishes. The only issue is that we ordered shrimp fried rice but they gave us beef fried rice, so we just ordered another shrimp fried rice. Everything was pretty good. I just wish the jellyfish came with pork like it normally is at other Chinese restaurants. Iconic pairing. Very casual. Mango pudding dessert, good and not very sweet.
I can't believe I haven't written a review for Kevin's Kitchen! It's our new favorite place for the Onolicious shoyu chicken and stir fried green beans and pork. We have ordered the roast pork, char siu, beef chow fun and more. Everything is freshly made to order. They are pretty busy during lunch and dinner so be prepared to wait a little for your food. We mostly order take out because this place is so busy. Some of the dishes can be on the saltier side, so if your watching your salt intake, be prepared to drink lots of water. Great place for moist and very tasty shoyu chicken! They give you the sauce so you control how much sauce you want to put on the chicken. You get a ton of white rice with the shoyu chicken plate. Instead, order 1/2 a shoyu chicken for less $$, and you will receive more chicken and no rice! It's a restaurant that has nice decor. But it definitely gets loud when it's a full house. No restrooms available in the restaurant. Ask for a key to access restrooms located nearby. Enjoy a meal here.
Kevin's Chinese food is a popular restaurant. Frankly I don't get it. I made a reservation for 7 at 3p on a weekday. The restaurant was expectedly empty and just after we sat down the staff came out with their meal and ate on adjacent tables. While that's not a huge deal, it took forever to place our order because we had to wait for the waiter to finish eating his meal, We ordered a lot of food but all of it was so strongly seasoned I was shocked. Ong choi (2.5/5) this was just ok Spicy eggplant (3/5) very strong flavors and just average Steamed ground pork (1/5) surprisingly no flavor. Just steamed pork with a smattering of salt Crispy pork (3/5) thin crispy skin, meat. Not bad Char siu (3/5) possibly the best dish. The meat cut was gristly but the flavor was good Beef chow fun (3/5) a decent dish but nothing noteworthy Kau yuk (1/5) the worst dish and by far the worst version of this dish. The huge chunks of taro and pork belly were smothered in an insanely strong red bean sauce that overwhelmed. Avoid. Service was poor and not friendly at all. While I'm used to cold service at Chinese restaurants the service here was indifferent. They filled our tea pot once and basically ignored us. Prices are on the higher side and frankly the food quality was average. Parking is ample as the restaurant shares parking with other businesses. After the late lunch my parents commented that they would never want to return. The food was just not worth the money and hassle. We've been there at least 3x already, it's our new go-to Cantonese restaurant. Their char siu and roast duck are amazinggggg - Sandy's is still the best but Kevin's is pretty dang close. My uncle and his family visited from Seattle last month. They invited us to a family dinner. I've been here before for lunch and loved it. It was my first time having dinner here and it was just as good. My uncle ordered seafood pumpkin soup, gau gee, orange chicken, salt and pepper shrimp, Chinese fried chicken, roast duck, tofu with shrimp paste on top, e mein, stir fry fish fillet, char siu and ong choy. Everything was delicious, especially the roasted meats. That's what this place is known for. However, my absolute favorite of the night was the seafood pumpkin soup. It had bits of salted duck egg in it. I loved it so much. It has to be ordered a day in advance. It is an acquired taste though. A few people on our table didn't want theirs, so more for me, lol. I drank three bowls and was pretty much full after that.
Went to Kevin's Kitchen recently with my wife and a group of friends, and we had a great dinner. It's BYOB, which makes group meals both more fun and budget-friendly. We ordered an impressive spread: roast duck, crispy roast pork, beef with bitter melon, clams in black bean sauce, hot and sour soup, mapo tofu, salt and pepper tofu, garlic Chinese broccoli, dry fried green beans, lobster with scallion and ginger over e-fu noodles, and fried rice with salted fish and chicken. The roast meats and lobster were the highlights. Overall, the food was a solid 7/10 -- flavorful, satisfying, and perfect for sharing. Service matched that score: friendly, efficient, and unfazed by our oversized order. The ambiance is simple and typical of a classic Chinese restaurant, with the focus clearly on the food and family-style dining. By the end of the night, everyone left full and happy, which says it all. If you're looking for a relaxed BYOB spot with generous portions and classic dishes, Kevin's Kitchen is well worth a visit.
Kevin's Kitchen next to Times Beretania has changed owners many times over the years. I tried it under the previous ownership and honestly the food was not good, so I never went back. Recently new owners took over and I decided to give it another try -- and I'm really impressed. This is my second visit and both times the roast pork and char siu were excellent. The roast pork is packed with flavor with crispy skin and juicy meat, exactly how it should be. The char siu is also very good -- not overly sauced but still full of flavor. The pan-wok vegetables had a great color, tasted fresh, and were cooked perfectly. There's plenty of parking and it's a good spot for groups. I'm definitely looking forward to trying more dishes from their menu. 5 out of 5 stars.
As of right now my opinion of this place is OK. The chasiu is not really tender or fatty which is how I like it, next time ill ask for my preference I just want to experience what they give to people who dont know how to order. I read a review where someone was crying and complaining that their chasiu was too burnt and fatty so I think thats why they serve the cuts like this by default. If you complain your chasiu is burnt please stick to eating avocado toast or something dawg. Roast pork isn't the fattiest but its somewhat tender. Could use more crisp. What bugs me is that I never got to try their potstickers which I somehow keep missing out on everyday and then finally they decide to discontinue it on my last attempt. Lol. I am sure this place is better once I ask for better preparation of the cut.

Update 7/17/26 takeout lunch special . Better service from last time . The last time I was here it was almost the early stages when this place just opened. A group of us Yelpers came here and it wasn't a good experience it was noisy food was ok and the vibe was not good . I guess know Kevin's Kitchen been open for a while now they got all the wrinkles iron out I hope . Their lunch specials @ $11 can't go wrong choice of Char Siu, Roast Pork, Shoyu Chicken over rice with a stem of Choy Sum. The only thing I can see the Chinese man doing the cutting is inconsistent I can see him throwing couple pieces and weighing it than chopping than he puts in on the plate . I was watching the process and he gave different amounts of Char Siu or Roast pork Some plates looked more full than others . I guess no one notices these things because the prices are good . Heard good things so ordered take out for a bday din at home...Called a day prior. Super nice and easy. Order pretty much ready on time so that's good...food packed pretty well. Gau gee in paper bag so didn't get soggy...Fried Tofu was little soggy - maybe poke bigger holes in the foil. Otherwise everything else just in take out packed well. I had 2 orders in each container and nothing leaked. I call that a huge success. We had mixed reviews about the dishes...and overall everyone was happy but there were some things that were surprisingly underwhelming or poorly executed. - Jellyfish - had a weird aftertaste. Cousin said chemical taste...I thought plasticky. Consensus was that it was not good. We couldn't eat it. - Fried Tofu with Shrimp - Tasted like it was fried in oil already used for dessert. Had a sweet taste to it. - Gau Gee - not as salty as I like but okay. Thought the won ton tasted like the One-Ton Chips. - Roast Pork - nice and lean. Hubs thought not salty enough, but I liked it. Pretty crispy. Was cold though - thought that was strange. - Fried Rice (dried scallop/egg white) - Very bland...maybe they forgot the scallop? And SUUUUUUPER oily. When i took it out after it was just sitting in a pool of oil. This was probably the worst dish which is disappointing since fried rice is normally a fan favorite. - Beef Chow Fun - Lots of tasty tender beef. Noodles a little soft for my taste but otherwise very tasty dish. - Shoyu Chicken - Pretty tasty. Nothing spectacular but well executed. I didn't think it needed the sauce it came with. - Steamed Fish - Good. Cooked well and simple tasty sauce. - Mixed Mushroom & Veg - This was the best dish...that's huge coming from a family of meat eaters. Ambiance: Overall, ambiance is what you'd expect from a casual, small, urban neighborhood restaurant. - It's pretty busy, and since it's a small place, it tends to be on the louder side with all the activity from people working and people dining. - We went around 5:30 pm on a Saturday night, and were able to snag the last available table. Service: Overall, service was quick and casual. - We were brought menus, then served hot tea and ice water right after sitting down. - Food began coming out relatively quickly after ordering. First dishes came out about 10 minutes after ordering, with the main dishes coming out about 15-20 minutes after ordering. Food: Overall, the food was tasty! My mom and dad kept commenting on how much they enjoyed everything. - We ordered the ong choy with bean curd sauce, Shanghai-style fried noodles, char siu & roast pork, and kuk yuk with taro casserole. We each also had a bowl of rice. Everything we ordered was more than enough for the 3 of us. We polished off everything except for about half of the fried noodles. Parking: Kevin's Kitchen is right across from Times Supermarket on Beretania, so parking was very easy. If I'm hungry and in the area, I'd definitely eat at or order takeout from here again! read more

My family told me to check out Kevin's kitchen for their lunch special and honestly it wasn't bad at all. Service is really quick, inside is pretty small, so if you have a small party you might end up sharing a table with another party (I thought this was very Hong Kong hahah). Anyways, I got the Char Siu & Roast Pork lunch special. The Pork ended up being a dry and for the char siu some pieces would be a good balance of lean and fatty, but other pieces would be super fatty or super lean. The vegetables were really good and the sauce that was on the rice tasted really good too. Overall, I would recommend sharing a bowl and then getting one other dish to share. The portion is really big and worth it. I would come back again! read more
TL;DR - 90 percent of the dine in guest are speaking Cantonese. Moving beyond the great value, inexpensive lunch menu, this is one of the Island's best Chinese eateries. 1. Chinese BBQ - Meatiest roast duck. Even the back has plenty of meat. Very well seasoned from the inside out. Well roasted. Not overly salty. Uber tender charsiu with a good balance of fat. On the sweeter side but works. Finally, the roast pork. Not overly seasoned. Solid but eclipsed by the other two. 2. Gweilo Chinese - Very well made. ie, the honey walnut shrimp is perfectly cooked. Ethereally crisp, light batter lightly drizzled with a not overly sweetened honey mayo. Lots of candied walnuts a plus. 3. The "authentic" stuff: - Pan fried noodles - A crisp, not oily, cake of thin noodles topped with well cooked protein and barely cooked through veg in a balanced savory sauce that isn't too salty or overpowering. Sampled both the seafood and chicken versions. - Sizzling platters - black bean sauce seasoned smoking, sizzling platters of amazingly not overcooked protein and barely cooked through onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Despite the high heat, neither the bite size pieces of fish or shrimp overcooked. - Hot pots - Well braised, well seasoned, deeply flavored without being overly salty. Beef brisket with bean curd and kau yuk with taro satisfies. Looking forward to some of their pre-order required items in the coming weeks. Since yelp wont let me include everything in the caption: Roast pork #5 salt and pepper tofu #6 bbq pork #10 Crispy Gau Gee (8 pieces) #13 Dried Scallop Soup #41 half Peking duck #57 sweet and sour pork #59 beef w bittermelon #67 Beef with Wine & Garlic #85 eggplant #87 Mixed Mushroom & Vegetables with Black Fungus #99 shrimp with cake noodles upgrade This was my first time trying their salt and pepper tofu. Just wow. 10/10 will be ordering this every time we go. Perfectly cut pieces of tofu that are crispy on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside, well seasoned, yet not too salty. No teeth needed to eat these heavenly, perfectly sized cubes of goodness. Beef with bittermelon. Comfort food on a plate. Whoever prepped this dish did a fantastic job. The beef was tender and melt in your mouth, and the bittermelon had just enough bite to it. 10/10 recommend and if you know someone who hasn't tried bittermelon yet, this is a great introduction to it. ***4.5 STARS*** After 2 subpar visits to Kevin's Kitchen (KK), I was hesitant trying dinner. My visits had many Chinese patrons so the restaurant was legit but didn't want to try them for dinner. Fellow colleague at my part time job is 1st generation Chinese and he too, was disappointed here for dinner. Step in my BIL's cousin, who celebrated NYE dinner with her staff, family and good friends. She arranged 4 tables and was extended an invite. The catch phrase: Roast goose was on the menu. I don't ever recall seeing or hearing about roast goose being offered in Honolulu. I first had roast goose in Taiwan, then in China and Hong Kong. Compared with roast duck, roast goose is meatier and the meat is more succulent. Life changing. I arrived fashionably late to the dinner that started from 6pm. To my surprise, food service hadn't started yet when I arrived shortly after 620pm. I apologized to the host and hostess by greeting them upon my arrival. At 630pm, dinner started with seafood soup. After assessment, there were diced small shrimp, fish maw and mushrooms, which seemed standard but the flavor was outstanding. Rich and robust depth in flavor but after adding some white pepper and a dash of red wine vinegar, the soup was elevated and to another level. As stated in blogger Melissa Chang's Frolic article back in August 2025, roasted meats are a hit at KK and they sure didn't disappoint. We were served roast pork and char siu and both were delicious. The char siu was very tasty with amazing marbling. Roast pork was succulent good meat to fat ratio but the skin wasn't that crispy. Nonetheless, impressive roasted meats. Next we had cold chicken and jellyfish salad which was a crowd pleaser. Many on our table complimented the finesse and presentation. Absolutely delicious. However, the downside was the jellyfish was sparingly scattered. Would had been better with a better jellyfish to chicken ratio. The highly anticipated roast goose was next served and heard the oohs and ahhs from the neighboring tables. I noticed the roasted goose head and neck chopped and served on the plate. After several table mates snapped photos with their cameras, we took turns serving ourselves. I ended up getting a piece each of white and dark meat. It was perhaps my mistake of hyping this dish as the execution didn't meet my expectations. I had such fantastic roast goose in Asia and KK's version doesn't come close. The skin wasn't crispy and the meat was semi tough and could have used more seasoning. Next dish of beef tenderloin chunks fried with shishito peppers was something I've never had at a Chinese restaurant. The peppers were delicious and tender as it was first deep fried and then stir fried with deep fried garlic and yellow bell peppers. My teeth unfortunately couldn't bite the beef as I had a large chunk so I gave it to favorite nephew by default who devoured it. I really enjoyed the peppers as it had a nice bite, seasoned well with the wok hei essence. There was also a lot of buzz when stir fried grass carp with assorted veggies was served. It had a crunch texture that resembles geoduck and had a semi aftertaste as they are ground feeders. Another tasty dish with wok hei flavor. Another table favorite was the fried crab with exclusive spice blend (garlic and assorted spices that had a bright orange color that wasn't duck egg yolk). Because of my teeth condition I had a piece where I tried the body meat. The crab was executed to perfection and seasoned well. I gave the crab leg to my sister fearing I'd further injure my teeth and ended up sharing one of crab heads with my sister. Thank goodness for Metformin. Although many people enjoyed the stir fried gai lan with dried flounder, it was a tad bit overcooked to my liking. Gai lan should still have a crisp to the stems but it was soft for me. Flavor was spot on. We were advised lobster delivery didn't make it to KK so they substituted big head prawns, which was probably my favorite dish of the night. It was soft flavorful and loved the prawn head butter. The accompanying e-mein noodles were served separately. I mixed the prawn sauce on the braised noodles that were just delicious. When the dried scallop with egg whites fried rice was served, I was absolutely full but took 2 spoons of it. Once again, wok hei was present. Kudos to the chef. For dessert we had mango pudding with evaporated milk. This wasn't the generic pudding mix - - you could test fresh mango and had some pulp in it. Great way to finish the meal. Service was above average, especially it was a full house on NYE. Staff came to switch out our dirty plates, refilled our tea pots, water glasses and even buckets of ice as the hosts provided soft drinks and wine. So I think it's about time to update my review. I have been coming back regularly (mostly takeouts) since my first visit during their soft opening. And I just have to say their food has been consistently good. We always came for their lunch specials and ordered a couple of times during dinners. Nothing I can really complain about. I told many friends about this restaurant and they were all satisfied with the food. They are always busy so call ahead to place your order if you want takeouts. Kevin's Kitchen is the hottest new Cantonese restaurant in town and they're hot for a reason. Seating can be tight as it's not a large restaurant, and so call in ahead of time if you have a large group and also place orders ahead of time too. My family and group arrived at 5pm on a weekend and were able to reserve a table and food ahead of time. We ordered the... PUMPKIN EGG DROP SOUP- this was definitely a different menu item that I've never seen anywhere else. While the color was a rich pumpkin orange/yellow color, the flavor was pretty subtle overall. Would only recommend if you're tired of the usual soup selection and want to try something different. GAU GEE (deep fried pork wontons)- these were nice and hot out of the fryer. I will say that they were smaller and a little dryer than Asia Manoa's gau gee, but still decent. Paired with the sweet and sour sauce, it was a fantastic appetizer. LOBSTER - as someone who normally doesn't like lobster that much, this dish actually one of my favorites of the night. It was tender and not overly salty. I especially loved the slurry sauce they put on the noodles which gave the dish a silky and creamy texture. CHAR SIU (roast pork) - Kevin's Kitchen might honestly make the BEST char siu I've ever had. The pork was super moist and tender and very well marinated in sweet and savory Chinese bbq sauce. I would 100% order this dish again. ONG CHOY- the Ong Choy had good flavor, but was honestly a little tough which made me question it freshness. I would recommend a different choy instead. LEMON CHICKEN - if you're looking for something sweet, this is a great pick. The lemon sauce glaze was nice and viscous and paired well with the crunchy and moist fried chicken pieces. Service was decent and the waiters made sure we had enough tea at all times. They also switched out our plates mid-meal for clean plates. While the food was 5/5 stars, the atmosphere was less so. The interior is fine and relatively clean. However, the bathroom situation is less so. Kevin's Kitchen doesn't have bathrooms inside of the restaurant and so you have to get a key to go use the shared strip mall restrooms outside which are honestly kind of sketchy. I didn't go inside, but one of my relatives did and reported that the bathrooms were not very clean and also didn't have soap... this made me question customer hygiene but also worker hygiene. There are no health violations reported (at least as far as I see), but I sincerely hope the workers have a separate bathroom somewhere in the back and are thoroughly washing their hands somewhere in a clean environment... until I know for sure, minus 2 stars. Came here for a retirement party and the food was DELICIOUS! I'd go back for the Chinese chicken salad alone! Service was quick and waitstaff were all very pleasant and helpful. Place was crowded not only because of the party but lots of people dining there. Ambiance was as expected from a Chinese Restaurant and more. Definitely recommend and will go back! read more

In short, this will now be a go to spot for us for Cantonese. Kevin's Kitchen has been on my list to try for a while now and we finally were able to stop in for dinner here on Christmas Eve. It was a madhouse but somehow we lucked out and got seated at the last available small table. Food was the typical Cantonese fare with the addition of some higher end seafood items and a whiteboard of specials which should definitely be consulted. The giant platters of delicious looking lobster being delivered to tables around us came from those specials of the day. The Peking/capital pork chops were lean but tender, served in an awesome tangy sauce. Green beans with ground pork were fresh and tasty and full of meat. The shrimp fried rice was also surprisingly delicious and served with lots of big shrimp. The salt and pepper chicken wings were served crisp and piping hot but were somewhat forgettable. We all agreed that we won't order those again but we would definitely recommend those first three dishes. This place is bustling and busy like an old school Cantonese neighborhood spot even though it's relatively new and still nice and clean. Great to see a comfortable place like this thriving. This review is for the counter area only, as we didn't dine in this time. I've been meaning to try this place ever since they opened but never quite got around to it. Ever since Nam Fong closed in Chinatown, I've been on the hunt for a new go-to spot for Chinese meat classics like roast duck, roast pork, and char siu. As soon as my sons and I walked in, the cashier greeted us warmly and walked me through the counter options and pricing -- super helpful for a first-timer. I ordered the roast duck & char siu. The char siu was perfectly seasoned: not overly sweet and not drenched in sauce. My sons absolutely loved it. The roast duck was juicy, flavorful, and just plain delicious -- also kid-approved. We'll be back soon to dine in and try their other meats from the counter. This place is officially on my regular rotation! read more
I read about the opening of this Cantonese restaurant, Kevin's Kitchen, through fellow Yelp Elite Friends during our recent visit to Japan and Korea in May of this year. Although there were mixed review ratings, most were high praises, and I found it unusual to find a good and authentic Hong Kong-style restaurant outside of Chinatown, so I bookmarked this restaurant. When I returned home in June, my eldest sister, whom I affectionately call "the termite," suggested a get-together for lunch after we took care of family business or after my then-upcoming knee replacement. During our visit with my sister, her friend, and my husband, we were greeted (in Cantonese) at the very crowded restaurant. LOL, I commented to our group that we "looked the part" of being recognized as either elder American-born Chinese residents or visitors. Upon responding in my fractured Cantonese, the female worker quickly seated our foursome at a recently vacated table. We felt assured that we could share several dishes since each of us made a menu selection. We were excited by inhaling the aromatics from the food of other diners, but our eyes were diverted to the roasted meats counter at the back of the restaurant. Before perusing the menu, I meandered to the roasted meats counter and gazed at the slabs of crisp-skinned roasted pork and whole ducks. I quickly decided to order a half order of Cantonese roast duck ($20) for our table, while the rest of our party selected the Steamed Fish Fillets ($19.95), Chinese Broccoli Pan-fried with Garlic ($16.50), and Singapore-style Rice Noodles ($14.95). We each squeezed in a bowlful of Mango Pudding $4.95, to counter our savory taste buds with a bit of sweetness. All of the dishes were prepared well, with excellent flavors, textures, aromatics, and portions. We didn't find any glitches with the service, as others mentioned in earlier reviews; the servers navigated their way through the restaurant quickly and efficiently. We have also returned to Kevin's Kitchen several more times to purchase their Chinese Roast Pork and BBQ Pork (sold by weight), which we have enjoyed snacking on at home with homemade steamed buns. Kevin's Kitchen is a tasty addition to this neighborhood's dine-in Chinese restaurant scene, and we hope to see them continue with many successes. read more
Got the Beef Chow Fun on this occasion. It was okay...a bit...boring. Beef is typical stir fry beef. Excellent value as the portion was large with a $14 pricing. Walked in...they aren't connected to any dining apps...the other option is to call. Quoted 10 minutes and it was ready around that time. A small but officiant restaurant that if you go early, you can find a table. Nice aisan decor and Chinese written special white board. Ordered two choice combination (sorry forgot to take the photo). Roast duck and char sui. The duck was a bit dry and the char sui was salty. Had a ordered of dry beef Chow fun. Came looking dark but not salty. Not to much vegetables. I love jelly fish. But this one was vinegary and spicy hot. Right texture. Not too soft, not too crunchy. Pros: Nice and clean place. Fast service which also offers take out. Cons: Like any small Chinese restaurant. It's noisy and busy. Maybe they over cooked things or it was an off day and little to salty for me. Jellyfish was too spicy hot for me. Would I go back? I always try a second time when I go to a new place. It might had been a bad day for them. read more
We initially went on a Tuesday and found the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. We tried another night and ordered the steamed fish fillets and an order of Singapore noodles. The taste of the food was good and the portions were fine. The restaurant was clean and a little loud because all of the family parties that night. The service was efficient. We returned later on the week to try the lunch specials. We ordered the Beef Chow Fun it was delicious and priced at only $11.95. We also ordered the 2 item lunch plate of Roast Duck and Char Siu over rice for $15. that plate was good too. Parking was difficult during the day. Lots of takeout orders and groups of people. Worth waiting for if you want a good deal for lunch. Parking was not a problem during the evening. read more
Lunch menu prices very reasonable--$12 for fried beef noodles, Singapore rice vermicelli,etc. Beef noodles not oily, taste all right. We also ordered stir fry fish filet with asst.veggies and half roast duck from the normal menu. Fish filets sliced very thin so kinda difficult to pick up with chopsticks. The duck was so very sweet...it overpowered the savoury aspect of this specialty duck. read more
My friend loves this place so here we are! It's in the Times Supermarket parking lot next to the Japanese bakery Epi-ya (how convenient!). The lot is big but can get full because of the grocery shoppers and patrons of the other businesses. Typical Chinese restaurant but they actually greet you when you come in! There's a hanging meat counter in the back where you can just get your duck and char siu by the pound to go. Lots to offer on the menu but it's a bit pricey IMO. It ranged from $20-28 on average. The lunch specials were reasonable and that's what we were there for. It ran about $13 and $15 for the duck for the 2 choice. One choice was $11. We got the 2 choice "bento" with char siu and roast duck $15. Meat portions were okay-could've had more, IMO- 4 pieces each of the duck and char siu on top of a lot of rice. The marinade/sauce had a sweet taste and I loved it! We also asked if they made gon lo mein ( we were on a search for gon lo mein like how our moms made) and yes- they'd make it for us! Was a pretty large portion for $15.95. Just like our moms-dry thin noodles with veggie toppings. I'd come back just for this. Staff was nice and food came out fast. Both of us came out full. I've been to Kevin's Kitchen many times just to buy some Roast Duck for my dad, as he just loves Roast Duck. After doing lots of "take-out", I finally had the opportunity to dine inside of Kevin's Kitchen. Where is Kevin's Kitchen located? If you know where Times Supermarket on Beretania Street is, or the FAMOUS Epi-Ya Bakery, Kevin's Kitchen is just next door from Epi-Ya. Kevin's Kitchen basically features Chinese cuisine, and if you're into delicious roasted meats, or say noodle dishes, then you've come to the right place. I was really surprised about the lunch prices for their food items, as I found the prices very reasonable. I ordered the following dishes for lunch - 1. Won Ton Noodle Soup 2. Roast Duck Bento 3. Beef Chow Fun I must say all three dishes were tasty & on-point. The service here was very attentive, absolutely no complaints about service here! A super convenient location with lots of free parking and the food is pretty good. More often I am hearing people say they don't want to be in Chinatown. So when Kevin's popped up outside of Chinatown, I was excited to try it with fellow Elite Yelper Li Y. She ordered the lobster special, shoyu chicken, and a crispy noodle dish. All items were tasty, thank you Li :) After that first experience with yummy food and great customer service, I went back to dine in and brought the entire family. We are grateful for the large table that could seat all 10 of us! As you can see from the pictures, our family dinner was incredible. Lots of succulent seafood, plenty of fresh veggies, and never ending good flavor. Same as the first time I dined in, the customer service was stellar.
