please improve your nom noms khao hom! first - the good stuff. pretty place! unassuming on the outside but the inside is like your pinterest board came to life. you can definitely include this place in your instagram post and pull ALL the baddies. as for service- it is okay, they gave us the wrong dish but that's forgivable. being a waiter is a hard job guys. go tip your waiters (if they are especially special). ok that's the end of my compliments! now to the bad stuff. just hear me out you guys... food is delicious but had some flaws - tom yum omelette was really creamy and perfectly cooked. however it was mainly rice and lacked spiciness. kapow short rib benedict was pretty good but also lacked spiciness. the short rib was not completely tender and could've been seasoned better. potatoes were PERFECT though and the hollandaise sauce was yum. the benedict itself was a bit cold but whatever... and HOT DAMN this place is expensive (at least to my broke college student butt). just let me explain - sometimes the food matches the price but here it does not. as i explained earlier the food needs some improvements. i don't think their flavorless spiceless food justifies the $25+ price range on their menu. like i get that maybe you are catering to a different audience but i thought thai food (even thai american fusion) should be extremely spicy and complex in flavor. the food should ideally be so good that i forget about my money. unfortunately, instead of crying over the spice i am crying over my bank account. read more

Say hello to your next date spot for brunch! Khao Hom is a delicious Thai fusion spot that is a must try if you're in downtown Hayward. We were blown away from the moment we walked in. It has such a trendy vibe to it which makes it perfect for a date or a small group get together. Especially because... THEY HAVE BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS! (Only for an hour). But we couldn't try that today , so we tried their lychee lanna cocktail and their peachy whisky cocktail! Both of which were very tasty especially if you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side. Don't be fooled though! These will definitely creep up on you! For brunch we tried their Mama Pad Kee Mao and their Roti Gai Tod which were both delicious and filling. I will say the Mama Pad Kee Mao is pretty spicy though so if you're spicy sensative maybe pick a different dish. We finished off with their mango sticky rice, and as silly as it sounds each bite reminded me of a sweet warm hug. It came in the prettier container and was something I'd love to order again. They say the best way to a person's heart is through their stomach, and after today's delicious meal this restaurant has earned a spot in mine. Dinner was very good. This is quality over quantity, so the empanada style samosas, pad see ew, the tom ka soup, and the mango sticky rice, are all smaller than many other thai places, but their flavors were more intense in the sauces and creaminess of the coconut. However, their star items for me was their crab fried rice with so much crabmeat AND Khao Soi Beef short adds the orange curry as a broth (spice level 1 already brings good heat) with two noodles, some very sour mustard greens and fresh tomato and cucumber to cool the mouth... something i will always get now. They have about space for 50 people, and i saw they smashed one row of tables to serve a kids baseball team with parents, so be patient when It is a full place and only 2 servers and a small kitchen crew that makes authentic from scratch thai food. Parking is a decent free lot for the 30 odd restaurants and businesses in the area, so cross fingers or park in the next 2 lots/garages 2 blocks away. Decor is clean, the bathroom is 2 unisex, and the two business cut-down middle wall makes it very spacious and it feels it too. Come here if you arent willing to drive to SF or west oakland for good thai. Note, we will try the crab omelet and other brunch items next time. read more

After a morning hiking in Hayward, my friend and I wanted a hearty breakfast and we stumbled across this spot. It was very lively inside with end remixes of Christmas songs and an animatronic Santa greeting you at the entrance. There were multiple larger parties on a Sunday at 10am but they had ample seating to host everyone. The pad kee mao was deliciously charred and came out steaming. The Crabby Tom yum omelette was delicious and unique! The Tom yum punch was subdued with the creamy sauce and runny egg but still flavorful. I'm not sure if she was having a rough day or is still gaining experience, but she seemed a bit disengaged. We had to return our coffee drinks and ask for ice, and unfortunately, the response was not very welcoming. There was very little communication when we asked for an extra plate--she gave us a look and walked away, which felt off-putting. They have a two page breakfast and two page dinner menu. After noon, they offer the dinner menu so I selected the eggplant with tofu and rice. I cannot tell you how delicious it was. Plenty of open tables on a Saturday night but this place was super yummy. The service was great; our waiter constantly checked up on us and made sure we had everything we needed. The Thai tea was a bit sweet but refreshing after the ice melted. The crabby Tom yum omelette was filled with so much crab!! A new business in Hayward doing it's thing Let's just start by the infectious greeting from the host as we walked in from the back entrance, plenty of parking in the back by the way. We were seated and immediately served water from glass bottles left on the table for us. There's 2 sides of this nicely decorated space so good for large parties. Now let's get to the food, we order the crab fried rice that was topped with huge chunks of lump crabmeat, samosas with potatoes and sweet potato the tamarind sauce on the side (yum)fried spring rolls,stir fried mixed vegetables with your choice of toppings we chose the shrimp jasmine rice comes with and the garlic sriracha wings brought together with bottomless mango and peach mimosas. I have no idea how they battered and fried these things without them all clumping together. They were like shoestring onions, but with mushrooms. 5/5 - Pad eggplant with pork ($16.95): Eggplant was spot on. Really good. I could have done without the meat the veggies were so good. 4/5 - Green curry with beef ($18.95): Excellent curry sauce! I could have just smothered my rice with that curry by itself. A good mix of veggies in there. Beef was ok. 4/5 - Larb Gai ($14.95): We ordered medium spicy and this evoked the sweats paired with the hot temp. I spent $26 on a yellow curry and when the order showed up, they sent a SMALL to go container for my $26 worth of yellow curry. I literally just ordered the same exact thing on Saturday and they sent it in the large container. Very sad to see the integrity of a small business go. Went with the girlfriend for an early Sunday brunch. Plenty of options for a wide range of eaters. Crispy enoki mushroom starter ($10): well-executed (piled-high birds nest of crunchy golden fried strands). "Spicy aioli" wasn't very spicy, but was a functional dip. Short rib benedict ($26): absolutely incredible. It came with: eggs (perfectly cooked and runny) and tomatoes with hollandaise sauce (delicious) on an english muffin, a generous portion of bone-on short rib (pull-apart tender, truly an ideal piece of meat), red peppers and green beans with Thai basil, and a side salad (you can sub potatoes or fruit instead). The presentation was beautiful - I couldn't believe that a meal so extravagant was deposited with so little fanfare. I asked if they had anything spicy to add, I was brought what I believe was prik nam pla (birds-eye chilis and garlic in fish sauce) which paired beautifully with the meat; they also brought chili oil and pickled jalapenos, although I didn't end up needing them. Thai tea pancakes ($15): the girlfriend is a true breakfast aficionado, and was delighted by the fruit assortment, the dense yet moist pancakes, and the "unbelievable variety" of topping options (tea-flavored sauce, whipped cream, sweetened butter, nice assortment of fruit including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, grapes, and a cherry). Thai iced tea: the best version of the drink she'd ever had (and that's saying something considering how many boba/milk tea shops she frequents). Classy interior, friendly and efficient staff, tables bussed frequently. On the pricey side for breakfast (with the caveat that the short rib was one of the more expensive options), but the portions were decent and it was all top-quality so we didn't feel bad about the once-in-a-while splurge. Overall, fantastic meal, no complaints. We'd happily return to try other offerings. read more

My fiancé and I were in the area and decided to check out Khao Hom located in Hayward. We made a reservation a day before for 9 o'clock breakfast. I ordered their Thai iced tea, and it was so refreshing and flavorful with just the right amount of tea and milk. For our starter, we ordered the crispy enoki mushrooms. They were fried to perfection with an amazing crisp. It came with a spicy aioli dipping sauce which complemented the mushrooms very well. For our entrees, we ordered the Khao Hom Waffle and the Crabby Tom Yum Omelette. This is an absolute MUST try. The egg was sooo fluffy and the cream sauce went so well with the rice mixed in. The crab chunks were huge and added that seafood perfection to each bite. The waffle was made with coconut and pandan topped with a variety of berries- it was soft and you could taste coconut and pandan in each bite. The restaurant has a small bar and they played light music in the background. The atmosphere was super chill and comfortable to be in. Their customer service was exceptional and prices were super fair in our opinion. There is limited street parking but a free parking lot a little past the restaurant to the left. Otherwise they're pretty friendly and accommodating. They have street parking but also a free parking lot in back. They have a big menu but can choose between dinner or brunch menus. The entrees were a bit on the pricey side for one waffle at $14, but it was tasty esp with the coconut shavings on top. The crab omelet was interesting with the coconut soup but liked the actual pieces of crab on top. Lastly the fried chicken was a bit bland for my liking, but I enjoyed the roti and curry. What a fabulous find! We frequent Buffalo Buffalo Bill's in Hayward and never knew this amazing Thai place was literally next door! We started with a Thai Iced Tea and Lycee Iced. What a smart idea to use Lychee syrup in place of simple syrup for the ice tea. It was delicious! We ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken, Crab Fried Rive, Short Rib Musuman Curry and ended dinner with the Mango with Sticky Rive. Everything was nothing short of amazing. We began with refreshing beverages, including iced Thai tea and iced Thai coffee.
